We’ve got something a little different for the P&D Gang this Monday. Paulie and Devin are stepping outside the reality TV world for a conversation with Bryson Roatch, a longtime friend of Paulie’s who has spent much of his life behind the scenes in the music industry.
Growing up the younger brother of Papa Roach frontman, Jacoby Shaddix, Bryson had a front-row seat as the band went from playing small shows to becoming a major force in rock music. He eventually built his own career in the industry, working behind the camera and helping artists navigate content, social media, creative direction, and an entertainment landscape that keeps changing.
The guys get into Bryson and Paulie’s friendship, how Bryson went from coordinating VIP experiences for Papa Roach to becoming a creative director, and why learning the platforms and technology everyone else was afraid of became a major part of his career. Bryson also tells the incredible full-circle story of watching the original “Last Resort” video shoot as a kid, then getting the opportunity to direct a new “Last Resort” music video 20 years later after a viral TikTok helped give the song new life.
The conversation gets a little deep, from Papa Roach’s mental health advocacy and the emotional weight of telling fans’ stories to online criticism, authenticity, and the difference between the people we see in entertainment and who they actually are when the cameras stop rolling.
