Rea Kolbl: Your Spartan Ultra Back-to-Back World Champion

Rea Kolbl has never lost a race longer than eight hours. She won the 24-hour Spartan Ultra World Championship in Telluride this past weekend.

She ran 120 kilometers (75 miles) in 23:59 to win her fourth 24-hour championship since 2017.

She is one of only two women to win the Spartan Ultra Championship and World's Toughest Mudder. She is the only person to win them both wire-to-wire, and she holds the women's record for most miles at WTM (tied with Amelia Boone) and the Spartan Ultra Championship.

Rea Kolbl is the greatest women's endurance OCR athlete ever.

Rea joins us to talk about her race in Telluride, how she was able to pull off the win, and how to have a pre-race conversation with your loved ones when they volunteer to pit for you at a 24-hour race. "I'm not going to be at my best, but I want you to know I still love you."

Your 2021 OCR World Champion: Lindsay Webster

Lindsay Webster is the 2021 OCR World Champion in both the 3k and 15k. She won both races last weekend at OCRWC in Stratton, Vermont. This is her fifth 15k World Championship and her second 3k World Championship. She is also the 2021 Spartan US Champion due to her dominating performance in the 2021 Spartan US National Series. Lindsay has won the Spartan US National Series every year since it began in 2016. She was also part of the first-place team that won World's Toughest Mudder in 2018.

Lindsay joins us to talk about her recent wins at the OCRWC, what it was like racing separate events from her husband for the first time ever, and she addresses the retirement rumors that popped up over the weekend in Vermont.

Amelia Boone: Why I Came Back To Spartan

Veejay Jones won the first race of the 2021 Spartan US National Series in Jacksonville. He took the lead for good when he was the first man to successfully pass the tire flip even though the tires were "like grabbing onto snot".

Veejay talks about his plan for the race, how Ryan Kempson almost made it a very different race, and answers his critics about the napkin he brought with him on course.

Nicole Mericle is the reigning Spartan World Champion, Spartan Trifecta World Champion, and the OCRWC 15k World Champion.

Nicole and the sport of OCR start the 2021 season this weekend with the first race of the Spartan US National Series in Jacksonville, Florida. Nicole is favored to win against a strong field of women.

Nicole talks about how she has trained during the last 12 months including building up her upper body strength by climbing with ice tools. (You can't see it on the podcast, but her arms are RIPPED.)

Dan Woods is the CEO of Hildervat. Hildervat has established a beachhead (ha!) in OCR with races hosted on beaches and lakes in the southeast U.S.

Hildervat makes their 2021 debut on May 22nd at Jacksonville Beach, Florida. The Jacksonville Beach race will host three groups of racers: Open, Elite, and Pro.

The Pro Wave is an invitation-only group of six men and six women competing for the biggest prize pool of 2021 so far. Pro Wave athletes announced so far include Lindsay Webster, Nicole Mericle, Rebecca Hammond, and Veejay Jones.
