MStefano Running is a group of friends that went outside their comfort zone in 2012 and started training to run in fun runs as well as mud runs and other events. We urge others to get off the couch and go for a run or even a walk. Exercise is great for the mind and body. We hope you enjoy listening to our adventures and consider trying one for yourself.

400. Episode 400 with Live Intro/Outro, Surprise Congratulations Clips, Q&A, and Shoutout Compilation!
Sunday, September 1, 2024 • Duration 01:38:16
Another huge milestone of the show, hitting 400 Episodes! Don't quote me on it but I can't think of any other OCR podcasts that have made it this far (other than Obstacle Racing Media) ... yet!
We celebrate with a live recording of the intro, the naming of a new "sponsored athlete" some Q&A, audio clips that Katelyn had sneakily asked for congratulating us, some more Q&A, a compilation of times we were mentioned on other shows, and a live outro!
Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the past 7 years and 8 months, everyone who watched this live recording, sent in audio clips, guests who have been on the show, our patreon supporters, and everyone else who has helped this show keep going for so long!
399. Winning Toughest Mudder Chicago with Jenny Overstreet!
Tuesday, August 27, 2024 • Duration 01:06:46
Lots of events happened this weekend so it was difficult to figure out which event to focus on and which particular athlete to have on the show. I try not to have the same guest on for their own episode too many times, one of the big events had a lot of issues and I'd want to have more of the dust settle before we consider having an athlete on to talk about it.
Then Mike saw that Jenny Overstreet won Toughest Mudder Chicago! He first met her at the end of OCR America 2 during the KC Timber Challenge coverage. He was severely sleep deprived from a full week of traveling across the country doing OCR so he has limited memories of that day but it definitely happened!
Jenny is an athlete from the midwest who is known to be a formidable ultra OCR athlete from previous Toughest and World Toughest Mudders so we were excited to have her on the show for her own episode. Be sure to check out the MudGear Hannibal Race Pro Team that she is a part of as well as her gym RoKC!
Next weekend we will celebrating episode 400 (with a live intro and outro which we totally didn't forget about until recording the outro) and will hopefully have one or two special guests who I have been wanting to have on the show for over 5 years!
Mike was able to return to Citi Field for coverage of the Spartan Stadium (still refuse to say Stadion), only this time he was able to run it as well which he has been wanting to do over a decade now!
Without Katelyn helping, coverage ability was more limited but there is still a pretty good episode put together for you with 16 athletes and 6 vendors interviewed along with some start line audio to put you, the listener, in the stadium with us!
300. OCR World Championships 15K with Elites and Vendors! (Oh and Episode 300 with Live Intro/Outro and Shoutout Compilation!)
Thursday, September 29, 2022 • Duration 02:11:21
This is the second of our 3 episodes covering OCRWC this year!
Part 2 focuses on Saturday's 15K and begins with the men and women's start line audio with Justin Manning, a few vendor interviews, a bunch of elite interviews, and then elite podium audio!
Since this is the big milestone of episode 300 the intro and outro were recorded on Instagram Live so we were a bit distracted but had fun with it, watch it here if you'd like! After the outro there is also a celebratory compilation of shoutouts heard on other shows so stay tuned to that if you'd like!
299. OCR World Championships 3K with Elites and Graham Roberts from NOX!
Tuesday, September 27, 2022 • Duration 01:48:59
This is the first of our 3 episodes covering OCRWC this year!
Part 1 focuses on Friday's 3K and begins with a recap of the course with Mike and Mark, which is followed by start line audio from the men's and women's race. There are then 17 interviews with elites following their finish of the 3K course and it is all wrapped up with a final interview with Graham Roberts from NOX who has been the performance coach for Ryan Atkins and Lindsay Webster for the past few years!
One of Mike's favorite new podcasts has been the OCRWC Podcast! First off, the more podcasts on OCR the better, second it is more likely to have a wider range of athletes on the show due to both the broad nature of the show and the fact that the host is from England!
Following the show from the start Mike still didn't know much of anything about the host though. When he found out who she was he reached out to her earlier this year and planned to have her on the show for an episode the weekend before the big event to help build more excitement!
Fran Chiorando talks about how she got into obstacle course racing, how she started to work with the founder of OCRWC (Adrian Bijanada), what she is looking forward to most next weekend, and much more!
297. Shawn Roberts on Savage Race Series, OCRWC, and More!
Tuesday, September 13, 2022 • Duration 47:21
We had Shawn Roberts on the show for the first time! Mike has occasionally reached out to him throughout the past couple years to congratulate him and offer other words of support and he met him in person and spoke off the mic at OCRWC 2021.
Earlier this year he reached back out and said that he wanted to come on the show. Very interested in having another conversation with him and figuring that it could be a great way to build anticipation for OCRWC we had this call where we discuss that race as well as the Savage Race series, and a few other things!
These are pretty impressive accomplishments but only some of the reasons why we wanted to have him on the show! On previous appearances on other podcasts like Reinforced Running and The Running Public he was very vocal about his history of disordered eating, and he discussed being plagued with injuries like his calcaneus.
Through interviewing other athletes in the sport Rylan also frequently came up as lending a helpful hand to his competitors. This may have been the biggest factor in being excited to have him on the show since he is new blood in the sport and a perfect fit in our awesome OCR community!
This is a new venue and it yielded a new podium! Taking 3rd place for the men was Shaun Stephens-Whale, an athlete we have only had on the show once back in 2018 but we remembered him having an interesting sports background which featured tower running, and had heard that his training was very focused heading into this event!
We discuss the sport of tower running, his preparation and race in Kelowna, oh and his experience with a bear attacking him!
294. RuckFest Trail and Games with Elites and Mark Jones!
Tuesday, August 23, 2022 • Duration 01:51:37
Mike was invited back to cover RuckFest which is a competitive rucking event featuring a trail event, games events, as well as a team krew event. They are all run by Brandon Welling from TPK Endurance and Mark Jones!
This time Mike stepped up and ran the 6.9 mile competitive trail course instead of the 3.1 mile fun run, and he brought Katelyn too! After participating in the trail event both Mike and Katelyn volunteered to help out with the Ruck Games!
This is a long episode due to getting event audio to give you listeners more of an understanding of what the event is like (and hopefully encourage you to join next year), and a bunch of interviews. Check the time stamps below if you are more interested in some sections of the episode over others.
0:00 – 4:25 – Intro
4:25 – 12:18 – Quick News
12:18 – 15:11 – Content Preface
15:11 – 21:43 – Event Explanation and Trail Podiums
1:20:16 - End - Shoutouts on Other Shows Compilation
Next episode with be part 3 of OCRWC coverage and will focus on Sunday with close to 40 elite interviews from the relay races as well as 10 from 100 meter finals!
