On today’s episode i’m gonna be talking about HOW I CAN HELP YOUR BAND! I’ve recently hit a BIG milestone for my small business, as this month marks Hookings Management’s 6th birthday. For those that don’t know, Hookings Management is a company I setup that’s prime focus is to serve my fellow DIY music artists by helping them grow their fanbases & monetise their music without the help of a record label. 

According to Forbes, 20% of businesses fail within the 1st year, 30% in the 2nd year & 50% by year five so although on somedays my imposter syndrome would try & bully me into thinking otherwise, I must be providing a valuable service for my artist clients in order to have made it to the 6 year mark as a business, especially given the fact the music industry as a whole has been through some hugely turbulent times in the past few years with the pandemic & more recently the cost of living crisis. Listen in, to hear all the various ways me & my team at Hookings Management have been helping our fellow DIY Musicians these past 6 years! Part 2 of sharing the key steps my band Death of Guitar Pop have taken to build a huge fanbase for our DIY Ska band & turn our band into a business that currently turns over a quarter of a million pounds per year that has been paying me & my bandmate and business partner Jonny a consistent monthly salary for the past 4 years.

We’ve had 2 albums in the UK official top 40 album charts, completed 2 successful self promoted headline tours of the UK, Headlined & sold out a self promoted show at London’s 1,500 capacity Electric Ballroom venue, been booked overseas for a headline tour of Australia plus shows in the US and Germany, And we’re also currently in the process of putting on our biggest ever headline show at London’s Iconic O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire venue.

We’ve done all this without any music industry support, just learning how to navigate the business and marketing side ourselves, grinding it out DIY. In this episode I’m gonna be breaking down the process of how we’ve done this so you can swipe & deploy our strategies for your own independent music career!
