Thank you for joining us again with this week’s guest Darcy Staniforth. Darcy is an academic, writer, performer, and paranormal investigator. She has been interested in the paranormal since she was very young and that interest has carried into both her personal and professional life. Darcy holds an M.A. in American Studies and in addition to the paranormal, her research areas include race and ethnicity, gender and, ideals and institutions, and death, dying, and grief in American culture. As an artist and performer, Darcy is a podcaster, comedian, writer, and amateur magician. She currently resides in a haunted house in Southern CA.

Our focus aimed to cover the consequences of dark tourism, as well as the factors of mental health, the paranormal and how we navigate these spaces of curiosity.

This week our guest is author and magical practitioner Jason Miller. Jason has devoted the last 17 years to studying Witchcraft and Magick in its many forms, having traveled the world to study Hoodoo, Witchcraft, and tantra.

We spoke with Jason about his work, including his book Financial Sorcery: Magical Strategies to Create Real and Lasting Wealth. His insights on intention and focus in practical magic was refreshing interpretation on how we commonly associate with manifesting abundance.

"Root Magic" with Eden Royce

Our guest this week is gothic horror writer and recipient of the 2016 Speculative Literature Foundation’s Diverse Worlds grant, Eden Royce.

As a Charleston, South Carolina native, Royce is a member of the Gullah-Geechee nation, a prominent influence in her amazing body of work, including her debut novel “Root Magic”. As a short story writer her work has appeared in anthologies and magazines such as Apex Magazine, Strange Horizons, as well as two collections of her work.

We spoke with Royce about these influences, her experience in publishing her first novel, as well as her thoughts on the world of fiction writing and the inclusion of BIPOC narratives in the community.

We loved speaking with Royce, being very much inspired by her thoughts and experiences. We hope you all enjoy listening to this these weeks episode and we thank you all for your support!

Welcome to Season 2 of the Esoteric Negro Podcast!

We our excited for our first episode that is kicking off this season! 

This week our guests are Deathrice Aaron Dewitt aka "Dea" and Jack Grayle.

Dea is chaplain, sorcerer and practitioner of both PGM [Greek Magical Papyri] and ATR [African Traditional Religions] magics. Dea's insights and experiences provides us with amazing detail to the first hand perspective of his unique take on these traditional forms of magic. 

Jack Grayle is a author and sorcerer who teaches about the magic of Hecate and PGM at the Blackthorne School of Sorcery and Traditional Witchcraft. As a scholar and instructor, Jack provides us with in depth context to the evolution and practice of PMG. 

Getting to hear Jack and Dea's wealth of historical, academic, and spiritual knowledge was such a blessing!  We are excited for all of you to join in on this amazing conversation and for the overwhelming amount of support that continues to grow as we move forward.

Today our guest is the amazing artist and friend of the show, Kam Franklin. Kam incompasses many elements of  true artist as singer-songwriter, performance artist, activist, writer and most notable as lead singer of the Houston soul group, The Suffers.

Her profound artistic resume includes composition, performance, as well as community organizing where her focus is on the health, safety, and promotion of black artists.  A main channel for this is though her production company, Homegirl Island Productions, founded at the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic to produce livestream concerts, art presentations, as well as full studio albums.

We are excited to have had Kam speak her mind and share her experiences of grinding and thriving as an artist. uplifting herself as well as the community that she calls home.

Kevin’s the author of Bad Theology Kills: undoing toxic beliefs and reclaiming your spiritual authority, published Kevin’s work also appears in several anthologies by queer people of faith.

Through their work as a digital pastor and public theologian, Kevin has helped foster communities of authentic spiritual seeking used their writing, podcast, and YouTube Channel to pull apart bad theology and begin to reconstruct sustainable spiritual practices. Kevin believes that by telling our stories, we set others free to tell their own.
