She began practicing after being treated for Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis in 2010 ,and experiencing mobility issues in 2012. Since the beginning yoga benefited her physically, yet since her training she realized the various emotional, mental, and wellness benefits of her practice. Receiving her BA in psychology from the University of California, Merced in 2012, she was not only able to incorporate and recognize the various benefits of yoga physically and mentally, but tap into the mindfulness and self-healing powers as well. In Clarissa’s classes she emphasizes the importance of breath and self-awareness while embracing the beauty of modifications and self-love through life’s ever changing moments. Her yogic practice embraces Hatha, Yin, and Restorative Yoga. And after becoming pregnant in the Spring of 2015, she discovered and fell in love with prenatal yoga After the delivery of her beautiful baby girl, she embraced her renewed sense of self and life, realizing that after many years she would finally fulfill her destiny to become a diffuser of yogic wisdom. Her personal philosophy is, YOGA IS FOR EVERYONE, EVERYTHING, AT ANY TIME!! Her specialty to this day began with and still remains in Accessible Yoga, yoga for all bodies and abilities. She works with individuals with MS, and mothers primarily. She holds an ERYT to teach other instructors, and a PRYT for working with pregnant women, and Accessible Yoga specialty certifications. Clarissa is also a trained birth doula and founded Multiple Sclerosis Mamas, a facebook group, social media outlet, and wellness program tailored to mothers living with Multiple Sclerosis.
