Save My Thyroid: Healing Tips for Hyperthyroidism and Hashimoto's
Dr. Eric Osansky DC, IFMCP
Fréquence : 1 épisode/4j. Total Éps: 440

If you have hyperthyroidism (Graves' disease, toxic multinodular goiter, etc.) or Hashimoto's thyroiditis and are looking to do everything to save your thyroid gland, then the Save My Thyroid podcast is for you! Dr. Eric Osansky DC, IFMCP is the host, as he personally was diagnosed with Graves' disease in 2008 and was able to get into remission taking a natural approach. He created this podcast to help others with hyperthyroidism and Hashimoto's save their thyroid and regain their health. If you have hyperthyroidism then pretty much all of the episodes will benefit you, and if you have Hashimoto's you'll benefit from most of the guest expert episodes, as well as some of the "solo" episodes. The reason there is more of a focus on hyperthyroidism is because all of the other thyroid-related podcasts focus mostly on hypothyroidism/Hashimoto's, and since Dr. Eric personally dealt with Graves' disease he wanted this podcast to focus more on hyperthyroidism, although it will still offer plenty of value to those with hypothyroidism/Hashimoto's. Dr. Eric Osansky lives in Matthews NC with his wife, 2 daughters, 3 cats, 2 dogs, and 3 guinea pigs! He has been a practitioner for 20+ years, and has focused on helping people with thyroid and autoimmune thyroid conditions since 2009.

From Cancer to Hashimoto’s: Her Healing Journey
Saison 1 · Épisode 222
mardi 4 novembre 2025 • Durée 44:12
Real progress comes when we stop managing symptoms and start understanding the body’s messages. What might yours be saying?
In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Erin Ellis, a naturopathic doctor whose own health journey from Non-Hodgkin lymphoma to Hashimoto’s completely reshaped how she approaches healing. We talk about her path from cancer survivor to women’s hormone specialist, and how she uncovered the deeper connections between thyroid autoimmunity, toxins, and genetic vulnerability.
Dr. Ellis shares what helped her reverse Hashimoto's antibodies, the foundational steps she teaches her patients, and why true recovery often begins with something as simple as sleep, food quality, and reducing toxic load. Her story is a powerful reminder that the body can heal when we understand why it’s reacting, not just how to suppress symptoms.
This conversation might help you see your symptoms in a completely new way. Listen now!

About Dr. Erin Ellis:
Dr. Erin Ellis is a Naturopathic Doctor who helps women balance hormones, improve menstrual health, and regain the energy they once had. After being diagnosed with a rare form of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2010, she turned that experience into the motivation to pursue natural medicine. Her journey shaped a mission to help others take control of their health and understand that the body has an innate ability to heal when given the right tools. Life, as she often says, is too short to feel suboptimal. Outside of her work, Dr. Ellis enjoys time with her dogs, traveling in her RV, and making memories with her husband, a firefighter.

What This New Graves’ Disease Study Reveals
Saison 1 · Épisode 221
mardi 28 octobre 2025 • Durée 25:34
A new study may have just changed how we think about two nutritional supplements that can benefit those with Graves’ disease.
A new 2025 study looked at the combination of L-carnitine and selenium alongside methimazole and the results were more encouraging than I expected. In this episode, I walk you through what the researchers found, including how this combo may help lower thyroid antibodies, improve symptom control, and even reduce the total amount of methimazole needed. I also share my clinical perspective when these nutrients might help, what dosages were studied, and why we still need to look beyond supplements to address deeper triggers like stress, gut health, and environmental toxins.
Tune in to learn what this new research could mean for your own healing path.

A 20-Year Battle with Toxic Multinodular Goiter (Save My Thyroid Audit)
Épisode 167
mardi 15 octobre 2024 • Durée 44:35
Toxic multinodular goiter is a type of hyperthyroidism in which a person has a goiter in the presence of multiple thyroid nodules. In today’s Save My Thyroid audit, I’m chatting with Nanette, who has been dealing with toxic multinodular goiter for over 20 years and I’ll be sharing practical advice to help her improve her health.
Nanette’s thyroid journey began at age 16 when she had her first thyroid nodule, which was then surgically removed. Later, at age 30, she found herself in the same scenario, and she had a second surgery. Following that, she’s been on and off of different thyroid medications and was eventually diagnosed with toxic multinodular goiter.
While this isn’t the same as the comprehensive consultations I do with patients, you’ll get a lot of value from the conversation. Nanette and I discuss long-term medication use, her treatment with propylthiouracil (PTU), dietary changes, the importance of stress management, why we need to address underlying causes like insulin resistance and inflammation, my approach to testing and lifestyle modifications, and more.
If you’d like to apply for an audit with me, you can do so by visiting SaveMyThyroid.com/audit. Enjoy the episode!

Overcoming Extreme Cases of Thyroid Hair Loss
jeudi 10 octobre 2024 • Durée 10:01
Many people with hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism experience hair loss, and in some cases, this hair loss can be extreme. That said, in my practice, hair loss occurs more commonly with my hyperthyroid patients - whether Graves’ disease, toxic multinational goiter, or subacute thyroiditis - and they also tend to experience more severe cases of hair loss.
Today, I’m discussing extreme thyroid-related hair loss, factors that can contribute to it, treatment options for the condition, and why we have to take a comprehensive and holistic approach to managing thyroid hair loss.
In this episode, you’ll learn:
- How thyroid conditions can lead to hair loss
- Other potential causes of hair loss in those with thyroid conditions
- What research shows about alopecia areata and thyroid autoimmunity
- Treatment options to address hair loss
-The importance of nutrient testing and the role of gut health
As always, I hope you find this episode valuable, and I look forward to catching you in the next episode!

Can Glutathione Benefit Those with Graves' and Hashimoto's with Dr. Nayan Patel
Épisode 166
mardi 8 octobre 2024 • Durée 54:05
“Having a proper lifestyle and diet or supplementation to improve glutathione levels is going to be key in managing any of these conditions.” - Dr. Nayan Patel
Glutathione is known as a master antioxidant and is one of the most abundant molecules in the body. It performs the critical functions of neutralizing and scavenging free radicals, detoxifying harmful compounds from the body, and promoting cellular repair. It is also used in DNA synthesis and repair.
Today, I’m joined by Dr. Nayan Patel for a comprehensive chat about glutathione. Dr. Nayan Patel is a sought-after pharmacist, wellness expert, and thought leader in his industry. He has been working with physicians since 1999 to custom-develop medication for their clients and design a patient-specific drug and nutrition regimen. He has been the pharmacist of choice of celebrities, CEOs and physicians themselves.
In this conversation, Dr. Patel and I discuss the role of glutathione as a master antioxidant, its significance for individuals with thyroid conditions, and its impact on autoimmune disorders like Hashimoto's and Graves' disease, the benefits of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) for boosting glutathione levels, the limitations of intravenous glutathione, why a balanced diet and proper supplementation are crucial, and more. Air Hunger and Hyperthyroidism
jeudi 3 octobre 2024 • Durée 13:07
Air hunger, also known as dyspnea, refers to shortness of breath or the feeling of not getting enough oxygen. While a thyroid hormone imbalance can be a factor in some cases, there are many other potential causes of dyspnea, including asthma, COPD, congestive heart failure, interstitial lung disease, pneumonia, and mental disorders.
For those with thyroid conditions, air hunger is more commonly associated with hyperthyroidism and Graves’ disease than hypothyroidism, though it may not always be the cause. Today, I’m explaining the connection between air hunger and hyperthyroidism, how it is diagnosed, the importance of addressing thyroid hormone imbalances, related conditions to consider, and the need for a comprehensive treatment approach to manage air hunger effectively.
In this episode, you’ll learn about:
- How hyperthyroidism is potentially linked to air hunger
- The physiology of respiration and the role of mitochondria in cellular respiration
- How dyspnea presents and the differences between acute and chronic dyspnea
- Potential causes of dyspnea
- Diagnostic methods used in evaluating dyspnea
- What research shows about thyroid conditions and dyspnea
- Types of sleep apnea and the relationship with hyperthyroidism
- Natural treatment options for dyspnea
- Role of nutrients like CoQ10 and L-carnitine in supporting mitochondrial function

The Truth About Thyroid Support Supplements
Épisode 165
mardi 1 octobre 2024 • Durée 28:24
There is no shortage of supplements designed to support the thyroid gland and it's common for people with thyroid conditions to take them. While these supplements sometimes provide good benefits, most of the time they're a complete waste of money.
Whether or not you take a thyroid support supplement, it’s essential to address the cause of the problem by focusing on doing things like finding and removing triggers and healing the gut. Supplements can be beneficial but should not be viewed as a solution to healing your thyroid.
In today’s episode, I’m discussing common ingredients found in thyroid support supplements, when they might be helpful, why I recommend working with a practitioner before starting any supplement regimen, the need to address the root causes of thyroid issues, and more. Enjoy the episode!

My Graves' Disease Story
Épisode 164
mardi 24 septembre 2024 • Durée 47:27
In late 2007, I found myself a little overweight and set out on a mission to lose weight through dieting and detoxing. The plan seemed to be working, and by 2008, I had lost a lot of weight. One day, while walking around a retail store, I decided to check my blood pressure on one of their automated machines. While my blood pressure was normal, my heart rate was elevated. This was my first clue that something was wrong.
In today’s episode, I’m sharing my Graves’ disease story, from how I was diagnosed to the testing I did and the main approaches I used to restore my health. I’m discussing common symptoms, why it’s essential to address the autoimmune nature of the condition, options for conventional and natural treatment, recommended dietary changes, stress management techniques, the significance of personalized care, and more.
This information will help you regardless of whether you were recently diagnosed with Graves’ disease or have been dealing with the condition for many years. Enjoy the episode!
