02. Creative Business Owners – Use THIS 3-Step Framework to Make Your Introduction Memorable

lundi 2 septembre 2024Durée 22:23

Today we’re digging into a simple structure that you can use to make your introduction and your “about me” more memorable. This will be especially helpful if you already have shows, festivals and holiday markets scheduled for the upcoming Fall season leading up to the holidays – which is a super busy time in which you’re sure to meet some new people and potential buyers.

I’m sharing with you a framework that takes into account the person you’re speaking to in a way that can actually set you up for word of mouth marketing and business potential. This framework takes your elevator pitch one step further by painting the picture of your offerings through the use of examples that speak to specific needs your target audience has. This episode gives you a chance to consider how you want to show up this season and what impression you want to leave people with. Ready to dig in?

15. How Much Does a Custom Art Commission Cost? Managing Client Expectations (Part 1)

lundi 2 décembre 2024Durée 17:54

Okay, here’s a common scenario:

Someone out of the blue contacts you or stops by your booth at an art fair. They’re curious about how much it might cost if they hired you to make something for them. They want to know what the cost of a commission is.

So what do you say?

While it might be tempting to give them a solid number up front, doing so might actually limit you in the long run.

Or worse, it might cause them to ghost you if they’re making a quick decision off of limited information.

In this two-episode series, we’re talking about what it takes to get quality information out of a prospect without overwhelming them.

In the next episode (Episode 16), the second part of the series, we’ll discuss the appropriate level of detail and information you should share with prospective buyers upfront to make their decision-making process easier.

  1. Find more information at www.HeatherAllenOnline.com.
  2. Buy a copy of the book "Let Your Creativity Work for You: How to Turn Artwork into Opportunity" by Heather Allen, MGIM-MBA at www.HeatherAllenOnline.com/book.

14. Thinking of Starting a Paid-Membership Community? Interview with Jewelry Artist Christine Mighion

lundi 25 novembre 2024Durée 21:31

If you're curious about what it takes to start and maintain a paid membership community as part of your business offerings, today I’m chatting with just the gal for you.

Since 2004, Christine Mighion has been hand crafting each piece of jewelry in her Northern Indiana studio. Using gold, silver, semi-precious and precious stones, her line is a balanced vision of organic and modern. Imperfections and irregularities that mimic the course of nature greatly inspire Christine. Her jewelry has been featured in numerous national and international fashion and lifestyle magazines including Lucky, Shape, Vogue, and The Knot.

To serve her community of fellow jewelry artists, Christine launched the Slowmade Podcast in November 2023 and the Slowmade Collective later the following year. Through engaging conversations and shared experiences, the Slowmade Podcast and Collective provides a space for learning and growth, helping jewelry artists navigate the challenges and triumphs of building meaningful, sustainable businesses. 05. Get Organized in Your Business with this Sales Tracking Process for Creatives

lundi 23 septembre 2024Durée 23:05

Welcome to Episode 5 and Happy Mon-yay to you!

Today we’re taking a gentle stab at a topic people typically dread – bookkeeping, sales tracking, looking at your numbers, and doing a little spreadsheet administration.

Somehow we’re nearing the end of September. So in the coming weeks, you might want to set aside some time to review the last month and quarter.

In the first week of October, give yourself dedicated time to review sales that came into your art business during the quarter before across all of your sales platforms.

We’re going to talk about doing this with curiosity rather than with judgment.

This exercise can benefit you in so many ways. First and foremost, it gives you usable data for decision-making. This exercise can also help you to step out of the emotion of business ownership and the emotional blockers that might be keeping you from taking certain actions.

We’ll look at what your numbers are telling you and what decisions you might want to make for the quarter ahead, Q4. Or even for Q3 of next year.

Next Steps:

  1. Find more information at www.HeatherAllenOnline.com.
  2. Buy a copy of the book "Let Your Creativity Work for You: How to Turn Artwork into Opportunity" by Heather Allen, MGIM-MBA at www.HeatherAllenOnline.com/book.
