When someone decides to go vegan, terminology can be confusing. There are vegans, ethical vegans, plant-based dieters, and plant-based lifestylist to name just a few. Add to that the different types of foods being brought to market, and the confusion increases.
Enter an ethical word smith, Sandra Nomoto aka The Content Doctor, to the rescue. Sandra is committed to clearing up the Language of Veganism.
Known as "The Content Doctor" Sandra Nomoto is a content writer and editor for cruelty-free businesses, and copy-editor, ghostwriter, and book formatter for authors.
Sandra has always had a passion for language, and as a typical millennial, cares deeply about social and environmental justice.
Sandra graduated from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in English Literature and Film Studies, where she discovered a passion for film and was a founding member of the Vancouver Short Film Festival.
Nomoto's communications career began in the public relations industry in 2005, before the age of digital marketing. She was awarded the 2009 Volunteer of the Year by Women In Film & Television Vancouver for her work on the Vancouver International Women in Film Festival and Spotlight Awards. She was also featured in the 2010 CRAVE Guide alongside VITA Daily and Danielle LaPorte. In 2016, she was part of the Marketing team that won the eWomenNetwork Best Social Media and Community Engagement Award. In 2012, her agency, Conscious Public Relations Inc., focused on PR campaigns for socially and environmentally responsible companies, and became the fourth PR firm in Canada to achieve B Corporation® certification.
Her upbringing as a middle child and Asian Canadian has benefited her with the experience of collaborating with a wide variety of groups, from seniors to successful business owners, non-profits, environmental activists, and TV/industry personalities.
Nomoto authored The Only Public Relations Guide You'll Ever Need in 2019, and aspires to be a non-fiction book editor for vegan and spiritual authors. She currently serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors of Create Vancouver Society, which produces the Vancouver Mural Festival. She blogs at SandraNomoto.com, is a contributing writer at Cold Tea Collective, and practices Transcendental Meditation daily.
