Mr. K's Super Show #78: KISS: Road To Reunion (with Lee Conrad)
Épisode 90
lundi 1 juin 2026 • Durée 01:01:06
30 years ago, the hottest band in the land (KISS) reunited with its original lineup of Paul, Gene, Peter, & Ace and took over the concert landscape, eclipsing top grossers like Garth Brooks, among others.
The Alive Worldwide tour reinvigorated KISS and brought them back to prominence after years of diminishing returns. Lee Conrad (KISSstory Science Theatre) had much to say about this significant period in...wait for it...KISSstory!
We had fun discussing KISS as always and how a series of events led to the reunion that the fans had been demanding for years!
Check out Lee Conrad's caricature site at https://www.leeceethedrawguy.com/ !!!
Back Issue Banter #30: Green Lantern / Green Arrow
Épisode 89
vendredi 15 mai 2026 • Durée 01:06:36
Let's take a trip back to the turbulent 70s, when a comic book dared to tackle the real life issues that plagued America!
Of course, we're covering the legendary Green Lantern / Green Arrow run by Denny O' Neil and Neal Adams, which dared to take on such burning issues as bigotry, sexism, and an unflinching look at the perils of drug abuse.
This would change the course of modern comics, making the comic companies realize they could balance super heroics with gritty realism. The comics world would never be the same...
Mr. K’s Super Show #73: Remembering Ozzy (with Alex Alt)
Épisode 73
jeudi 2 octobre 2025 • Durée 40:29
On July 22, 2025, the rock world lost one of the innovators of heavy metal and shock rock, Ozzy Osbourne. Ozzy's career spanned over 50 years, first as lead singer of Black Sabbath, dubbed by many as the first heavy metal band, and then, as a solo artist who set the rock world on fire with his hard rock masterpieces and madman persona, onstage and off. Mad or not, Ozzy entertained millions of fans and spanned generations with his career, even making a splash as a reality show TV star with his family's namesake show, The Osbournes. Alex Alt (Slydog Music Cast) and me pore over the legacy of this crazy man who may have been many things, but dull wasn't one of them. RIP, John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne.
Back Issue Banter #25: The Original Spider-Man Clone Saga (1975)
Épisode 25
lundi 15 septembre 2025 • Durée 53:27
This episode, we delve into the final chapters of Spider-Man's original Clone Saga from 1975 (Amazing Spider-Man #147 - 150, where Peter Parker has to face the uncertainty of whether or not he's the real Spidey or just some clone of the Jackal's. This saga also has Spidey dealing with his arch-foe Tarantula, who is in league with The Jackal in his insidious plot to get revenge on our webbed hero, in a saga written by Gerry Conway and drawn by Ross Andru. Who will win? Who will die? Only way to find out is to listen to this episode! (or actually read the books!]
Mr. K’s Super Show #72: KISS Alive in ’75! (with Bakko)
Épisode 72
lundi 1 septembre 2025 • Durée 01:06:05
1975 was a pivotal year for KISS: It was the year they finally broke through to the masses and the year they released their signature song and the album that put them on the map. We take a look at the events of 50 years ago, starting with the release of Dressed To Kill, as well as the subsequent tour that would give birth to the album that broke the band in a big way, Alive! Bakko (Cobras and Fire podcast) helped me delve into this massive year, arguably the most important one in the band's history. We had fun doing so, as we always do!
Back Issue Banter #24: Fantastic Four: The Galactus Trilogy
Épisode 24
vendredi 15 août 2025 • Durée 01:07:56
With the recent release of the new Fantastic Four movie, we decided to explore one of the FF's definitive sagas -- "The Galactus Trilogy" from Fantastic Four #48 - 50! We go back to the Marvel Age of comics for an epic saga brought to us by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and break it down issue-by-issue. No plot point or soap opera subplot is too small to escape our analytical clutches! It's always fun going back to the comics that started it all and this is an FF classic like no other and was partially the basis for the new movie! Enjoy...and let us know what you're thinking by posting a comment in our Facebook group! You'll be glad you did! Hosted by Brad Page and Chris Karam.
Mr. K’s Super Show #71: The Joe Effin’ Perry Project {with Julian Gill}
Épisode 71
vendredi 1 août 2025 • Durée 32:33
When guitarist Joe Perry left the Aerosmith mothership in 1979, he wasted no time in putting together his own group, The Joe Perry Project. Over the course of five years, the group would release three albums amidst a revolving door of musicians and internal struggles. Perry's devotion to making music never wavered, however, and the jPP became the ultimate road dogs, touring constantly between record releases in the early 80s. On this episode, Julian Gill (KISS FAQ podcast) and I look at those albums as well as the constant changes in the band. Joe Perry let the music do the talking and we do plenty of talking about that!
Back Issue Banter #23: Crisis On Infinite Earths (1985)
Épisode 23
mardi 15 juillet 2025 • Durée 01:06:32
40 years ago, DC Comics released the revolutionary mini-series Crisis On Infinite Earths. "Worlds will live! Worlds will die! And the DC Universe will never be the same!" That wasn't just mere marketing hype, it was what actually happened as DC decided to consolidate their multiverse of earths into one single earth. This series shook the DC Universe to its core and paved the way for new beginnings and directions and we have writer Marv Wolfman and artist George Perez to thank for that. We discuss this groundbreaking series in depth and analyze what worked and...what didn't. Join us as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of a series that had a profound impact on DC Comics!
Mr. K’s Super Show #70: As Van Halen Turns (with Alex Alt)
Épisode 70
mardi 1 juillet 2025 • Durée 45:59
By the mid-90s, Van Ha,len was in crisis mode; while seemingly still a successful band, ruptures between guitarist Eddie Van Halen and vocalist Sammy Hagar forced Hagar's departure from the band in 1996. What followed were 24 years filled with chaos, egos, drugs, booze, and periods where Van Halen lay fallow for years at a time. Alex Alt (Slydog Music Cast) and me will explore the period 1996-2020, during which time Van Halen went through four singers (one of which you may never have heard of), yet only produced two studio albums, one of which remains a controversial and divisive one among fans to this day. We explore the good, the bad, the ugly and the...whatever, as Van Halen went from being a legendary band, to being rock's greatest soap opera; hence the reason why this episode is entitled "As Van Halen Turns." Check it out!
Back Issue Banter #22: Lamest Villains!
Épisode 22
dimanche 15 juin 2025 • Durée 37:25
This episode, Brad and me pick 3 lame villains each and talk about why they're...well...so lame! And while lame, they do provide a certain entertainment value. Hey, they can't all be winners, right? While our writers and artists generally provide us with solid stories and art, sometimes fatigue or flights of fancy make them create these rather, um, questionable adversaries for our heroes!
We had fun talking about these peculiar characters and it was a nice change of pace episode for us. Hosted by Brad Page and Chris Karam
