Detroit Tigers secured a narrow 2-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox at Comerica Park on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Tarik Skubal was stellar on the mound for the Tigers, pitching 8 strong innings, allowing just 4 hits, 1 earned run, and striking out 8 Red Sox batters without issuing a walk. The lone blemish on Skubal's performance came in the top of the first inning when Tyler O'Neill launched a solo home run, his only hit of the afternoon. Detroit's offense was sparked by Trey Sweeney's 2-run double in the bottom of the second, driving in Zach McKinstry and Spencer Torkelson. Despite a couple of defensive errors, the Tigers' bullpen, led by Tyler Holton, managed to hold off Boston in the final innings to clinch the win. Nick Pivetta took the loss for the Red Sox, surrendering 2 runs and 6 hits while striking out 6 in his 6 innings of work. With this win, the Tigers improved their home record and created momentum as they continue their series against the Red Sox.
