The Integration of Jewish Mysticism and The Search for Meaning, Inner Knowing, and Grounded Spirituality with Rabbi Matthew Ponak
In this episode, I speak with Rabbi Matthew Ponak about the overlap of spirituality and emotional intelligence. We take a dive into his book and his mission as we discuss:
How to be spiritual while leading a “normal” and relatable life
The difference, spiritually, between facing our difficulties and transcending them (and why both are part of a balanced existence)
The value of learning from religious and spiritual ancestry, even if we are secular, atheistic, or agnostic
Why people leave their religion
The value of adapting Shabbat—the Jewish day of rest, delight, and gratitude—for everyone to prevent burnout, care for the environment, and live a more meaningful, fulfilling life
Pathways for traveling safely on the road to expanded consciousness
The common thread that runs through Judaism and other ancient spiritual practices
About Rabbi Matthew Ponak: Rabbi Matthew Ponak is a teacher of Jewish mysticism, a spiritual counselor, and the co-founder of the Mekorah Institute—an online spiritual center for embodied practice. Mindful Mention Monday | Six Seconds, an Organization All About EQ
10 May 2021
00:21:30
Mondays: Mindful Mentions - where I will highlight a person, book, organization, or topic that is top of mind for me that week, and one that I believing is worth sharing.
Today, I want to share with you a phenomenal organization in the EQ space, called Six Seconds. When I first began my EQ journey, I went to the google to find additional resources, and stumbled across Six Seconds. While there're other websites out there focused on emotional intelligence, the majority of them give you a brief overview emotional intelligence, a brief list of benefits of emotional intelligence, and then offer you an EQ assessment or some type of training or certification. And that isn't all that helpful for those of us looking to take a deeper dive and find additional resources or support around the subject. What I found different and intriguing about Six Seconds was the depth and array of information and resources that they offered around emotional intelligence. Six Seconds offers cases studies, articles, trainings, workshops, conferences, networking events, and physical tools and resources for all ages and stages of life.

WeShape: Bringing Self-love and Emotional Intelligence to Fitness with Katie Bramlett
In this episode, I speak with Katie Bramlett, founder of WeShape about intentional and self-accepting fitness and well-being. Well discuss the toxic myths about fitness, diet, and body image, and how to workout with the goal of accepting yourself instead of comparing yourself to others or trying to fit a mold.
About Katie: Katie Bramlett started WeShape with the intention of advocating for people to stop focusing on the number on the scale and instead put their energy and efforts towards a more meaningful intention such as movement, rest, and a deeper connection with self. Katie has a passion for bringing awareness to the toxic expectations placed on people in the fitness industry and believes that if we all unsubscribe to those messages we can pave a new path that's rooted in self acceptance, care, and kindness.

Today I will share with you an experience from when I was 19, as I was starting my first business, and how my intent to gain flattery turned out to bite me in the ass. My lack of emotional intelligence was blatantly showcased in my reaction.

Episode 31 of Living and Leading with Emotional Intelligence: Intention and Introspection with Confidence Coach Grace Johnston
Grace starts off with an interesting story of how she recently made the decision to change ALL THREE of her names. She shares the meaning and intention behind this decision after a couple of years into her self-develop journey. Throughout the conversation, we continue to dive deeper into the insight that comes from introspection, and the power behind our intentions.
Grace's personal bio: "I am a confidence coach who lives in Charlotte, NC with my amazing husband, my pit bull Stella, and our two cats. I've been an entrepreneur for over 7 years now, and I've pivoted my business several times to create more flow and alignment in my life and business. I'm into yoga, Pilates, hiking, entertaining, and personal growth all day, every day!
I was raised with emotionally unavailable parents, which led me to become highly sensitive and empathetic, but also a tough love, "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" kind of person. Coming from a low-income background and growing up as a foreigner were two things that perpetually made me feel like an underdog... until I discovered the super power within the struggle. Owning my truth has allowed me to discover limitless power and possibility, and I live to awaken this same power in others!"

Episode 17 of Living and Leading with Emotional Intelligence: Blood, Sweat and Fears with Dr. Kathryn Guylay
This has to be one of the most interesting interviews I have done on this show? Why? Because we talked about the relationship between blood and emotional intelligence. Yes, very interesting. And an area which I felt completely out of my element.
However, Dr. K (as I call her), did not fail to provide insight and value to the conversation. While blood and EQ were mentioned, the primary topic of conversation was fear, with some splash of insight on nutrition as well.
Personally, I don't feel I brought out the best in this episode. That being said, if you enjoy listening to Dr. K, I highly recommend you check out HER podcast: Positive on Publishing. In addition, check out the links below:
