Housesitting Nomads in England, France, and Portugal with Gerri Detweiler

In this episode of the Expat Empire Podcast, we will be hearing from Gerri Detweiler. Gerri is no stranger to traveling. She traveled to Canada, Japan, and Haiti through various exchange and outreach programs all before leaving high school. As this was before the Internet became widely available, the resulting culture shock enabled Gerri to fully immerse herself in these diverse cultures and develop a passion for travel.   With her daughter moving on to further her studies in Norway, Gerri and her husband are now empty nesters. Making the most of this development, Gerri is prepared to fulfill her wish to travel and work remotely. Successfully reinstating her Lithuanian citizenship, Gerri is now free to move about the Schengen Zone. He met his wife while traveling in the US and they have since had two beautiful children together.   Maxwell and his wife soon ventured into real estate investing and started flipping houses, rehabilitating properties, and investing in long-term holds. From Trailing Spouse to Working Mom in Japan and Singapore with Dinasha Cellura

In this episode of the Expat Empire Podcast, we will be hearing from Dinasha Cellura. After building an impressive career in Silicon Valley, Dinasha and her husband realized that they weren't quite ready to settle down yet. Before long, her husband received an offer of a job transfer to Tokyo, Japan, so Dinasha followed along, unsure if she would be able to continue her career. Despite the concerns of the other trailing spouses that she knew, Dinasha persevered in her job search and found a position in Japan.      She continued working at the Japanese company even after her husband's job led the family to move to Singapore. After a few years and a few job changes in Singapore, they all headed back to the United States where she had to reintegrate into Silicon Valley.     Dinasha has lived and worked in multiple countries, juggling her career alongside raising her kids, and has faced some cultural challenges and heartbreaking tragedy along the way. Avoiding a Comfortable Life in Italy, New Zealand, and Canada with Daniel de Biasi

In this episode of the Expat Empire Podcast, we will be hearing from Daniel de Biasi. Much to the surprise of his friends and family, Daniel left his stable job in Italy when he was 27 years old to search for adventure. He got a Working Holiday visa and hopped on a plane to New Zealand before he could even speak English! After attending a language school and acquiring a few IT certificates, he found a job in Christchurch and lived there for 4 years.    Once he felt his life was becoming too comfortable in New Zealand, Daniel set off on a brand new adventure in Canada. He soon discovered that moving to Canada was much harder than moving to New Zealand, but he persevered and built a great life for himself over the last few years in Vancouver, even recently receiving his permanent residence.   Daniel has followed his passion for adventure to many different countries and never let himself become too comfortable and complacent. She left for the UK for graduate school where she met her husband, and together they moved to London to work. In 2010, they moved with their two daughters to San Francisco, California, for her husband's job. After tiring of the Silicon Valley culture, they moved to Austin, Texas in 2016.
