Round 21 - The F1 São Paulo Grand Prix Review 2022

lundi 14 novembre 2022Durée 01:46:05

This week on the Cut to the Race podcast, Host Oli is joined by James M, Abby and Sam as the quartet dissect the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, held at the legendary Interlagos in Brazil + Oli plays quizmaster again as he tests the knowledge of the group. Will the trio fare as well as in previous weeks, or will they come up short this time? Arguably the race weekend of the season, each meaningful session provided action and surprises. From first-time pole-sitters to first time winners, there is simply no predicting what Interlagos might offer. Together, the panel discuss those highlights and major talking points. The action and subsequent surprises were helped with a sizeable side of drama, which will no doubt dominate headlines over the coming days and weeks. The third and final sprint weekend of the 2022 season, the festivities in Brazil were the best advert for the format that F1 has seen thus far. First, it produced the qualifying session of the year and perhaps the most popular pole position in recent memory. Changeable weather conditions caused chaos and confusion at Ferrari, George Russell set up his weekend perfectly by accident, and Haas acted quickly when it mattered most. https://www.formulanerds.com/news/a-red-flag-and-surprise-pole-position-in-the-sao-paulo-qualifying/ Then, tensions ran high between teammates at both Alpine and Aston Martin in the sprint, with penalties applied to guilty parties. Verstappen fell back whilst Hamilton surged through, and there was no shortage of quality wheel-to-wheel racing, and there was a small sign of things to come at Red Bull. https://www.formulanerds.com/news/sao-paulo-grand-prix-sprint-race-results/ The grand prix saw safety cars, diverging strategies and the Mercedes duo confirming their apparent renaissance. There was action throughout and drama aplenty. Verstappen and Hamilton came to blows again, Alpine grabbed the initiative in their battle with McLaren and fractures are starting to show at Red Bull. But the question is, how serious could the implications be? https://www.formulanerds.com/news/sao-paulo-grand-prix-race-results/ https://www.formulanerds.com/news/perez-on-verstappen-it-shows-who-he-really-is/ https://www.formulanerds.com/news/hamilton-you-know-how-it-is-with-max-as-pair-come-together-again/ -- Keep up to date with all the latest Formula 1 News @ www.formulanerds.com -- Follow Us: Facebook - www.Facebook.com/FormulaNerds Twitter - www.twitter.com/Formula_Nerds Instagram www.instagram.com/FormulaNerds -- For Advertising & Sponsorship Opportunities:- Email Business@FormulaNerds.com Learn more about your ad choices. Round 20 - The F1 Mexico City Grand Prix Review 2022

lundi 31 octobre 2022Durée 01:21:02

On this week’s Cut to the Race Podcast, Oli is joined by Abby, James and Sam for their review of the Mexico City Grand Prix. Formula 1 headed to Mexico with both championships settled, but there is still plenty to play for elsewhere. Sergio Pérez and Charles Leclerc still locked in a close battle for second in the championship - with the former also hoping for a first-ever win on home soil - whilst Max Verstappen was looking for a record-breaking 14th victory of the season. The panel discuss the news that broke over the weekend, including Christian Horner and Red Bull's response to their penalty for breaching the cost cap and the team's boycott of Sky Sports, before taking on Oli's 'Confusing F1 Quiz', which featured some out-of-order questions and more driver-name switching to break Sam's brain. And then it was back to the track for the quartet. With Mercedes having shown some legitimate pace in the thin air of Mexico City and Ferrari having gradually lost their way, it would prove to be a 2021-esque battle between Red Bull and Mercedes. Did the former Constructors' Champions make the wrong decision on strategy? Was there a way for anyone to beat Verstappen? Where did the Daniel Ricciardo of old suddenly reappear from? And, of course, what were the panel's weekend ratings and who were their drivers of the day? -- Keep up to date with all the latest Formula 1 News @ www.formulanerds.com -- Follow Us: Facebook - www.Facebook.com/FormulaNerds Twitter - www.twitter.com/Formula_Nerds Instagram www.instagram.com/FormulaNerds -- For Advertising & Sponsorship Opportunities:- Email Business@FormulaNerds.com Learn more about your ad choices. F1 News From The Nerds - McLaren Competition!

mercredi 19 octobre 2022Durée 36:50

McLaren Competition FormulaNerds have teamed up with McLaren F1 to offer you the opportunity to win a hat signed by Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo To enter: Listen to this show and count how many times the name ‘McLaren’ is said in total throughout the show. Then email your answer to info@formulanerds.com Full T&Cs - https://www.formulanerds.com/podcast/newsfromthenerds/competition-time-win-a-signed-mclaren-cap-courtesy-of-formulanerds/ Welcome to News from the Nerds – your midweek F1 digest brought to you by the FormulaNerds. On this week’s show Sam, Catherine and James discuss: Zak Brown’s strong words... Zak Brown sent a letter to the FIA and F1, formally saying how Red Bull cannot get out of the cost cap breach with just a fine penalty. Harsher action needs to be taken and he also proposes his own suggestion to the motorsport board. https://www.formulanerds.com/news/f1latestnews/zak-brown-writes-to-fia-stating-red-bull-budget-breach-constitutes-cheating/ Is it Schumacher’s time to shine? Mick Schumacher is yet to find himself a seat for 2023. The German has caused some financial headaches for Guenther Steiner and Haas, who have looked at several drivers who could replace Schumacher. However, Gene Haas said that it is Mick’s decision to see what he wants for the future. Will Schumacher stay on with Haas, or will we see someone else in the American seat? https://www.formulanerds.com/news/gene-haas-assesses-mick-schumachers-current-situation/ https://www.formulanerds.com/news/steiner-schumacher-has-home-advantage-as-new-contender-emerges-at-haas-f1/ Pierre Gasly has finally made the right move? Pierre Gasly is finally out of the Red Bull system and can look ahead to a new chapter with Alpine. The trio discussed how once he left the Red Bull seat, F1 saw a new Pierre Gasly, especially in 2020 with his first win coming in Monza. What lies ahead for the French? https://www.formulanerds.com/news/pierre-gasly-it-was-the-right-time-to-leave-red-bull/ Another race in Saudi Arabia? And more sprint races? Saudi Arabia confirmed that they can host more F1 races. What does the trio make of this decision? Do we love this fast-paced circuit, or do we rather see it off the calendar? Also, there are set to be six sprint races, making the total number of races in a season 30 rather than just 24. Is this better than just increasing the number of Grands Prix per season, or will it prove to be too much to handle in a single weekend? https://www.formulanerds.com/news/steiner-more-sprint-races-better-than-expanding-the-f1-calendar/ Should F1 implement 'information' laps? After the delays in Singapore and Japan, the chairman of the Grand Prix Drivers Association Alex Wurz suggested that F1 implement information laps. Cars will run out on the track 10 minutes before to give feedback on the track conditions and see how it is best to proceed. This comes after Lewis Hamilton’s comments who told his team that he can give better feedback if he is out on track for one minute rather than watching from a TV. https://www.formulanerds.com/news/gpda-formula-one-should-implement-information-laps/ Learn more about your ad choices.
