Miami GP: McLaren in cruise control - but did Norris play lap 1 correctly?
lundi 5 mai 2025 • Durée 01:05:12
Edd Straw is joined by Scott Mitchell-Malm and Jon Noble (with additional input from Mark Hughes) to unpick a weekend in Miami that produced plenty of talking points and incidents - and another Oscar Piastri victory, with Lando Norris making it a dominant McLaren one-two.
But why was McLaren so far in front this weekend, and did Norris blow his own victory chances battling Max Verstappen on lap one? Those are two of the questions tackled early on in the episode.
Edd, Scott and Jon also debate the team orders disharmony at Ferrari, discuss Kimi Antonelli's impressive qualifying pace, ask whether Williams could be even closer to the front, and bring news of Jack Doohan's Alpine future.
Plus, as ever, Edd, Jon and Scott answer questions about the grand prix sent in by The Race Members' Club.

And Colossally That's History: F1's infamous 'crashgate' scandal
vendredi 2 mai 2025 • Durée 01:10:46
On this week’s episode of And Colossally That's History! , Matt Bishop and Richard Williams look back at the controversial ‘crashgate’ scandal, when it emerged that the Renault driver Nelson Piquet Junior deliberately crashed during the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix to hand a major sporting advantage to his team-mate, Fernando Alonso, who went on to win the race.
Matt and Richard look at the origins of the saga, peak into the murkiness around who came up with the idea and put it into action, explain how it came to be uncovered, and discuss the punishments handed out to those involved.
They also debate the morals of the incident itself - was it the worst example of cheating in sporting history (as some claimed at the time) or an example of F1 gamesmanship gone too far?
- Matt and Richard will be bringing members an exclusive Q&A episode at the end of Season 3, where they'll answer questions on each of the topics covered. So if you'd like to ask a question about Crashgate, head to Patreon.com/therace

Bahrain GP: Piastri takes victory - but is he also now title favourite?
lundi 14 avril 2025 • Durée 01:00:37
Edd Straw is joined by Jon Noble and Mark Hughes to review the Bahrain Grand Prix. After Oscar Piastri's triumph, they ask whether the in-form Australian is now the title favourite, despite McLaren team-mate Lando Norris still holding a slight edge in the standings.
Also discussed is George Russell's remarkable drive to second for Mercedes, which included the Briton having to deal with a litany of issues in the cockpit. There's also a detailed explanation as to why Lewis Hamilton is struggling for performance for Ferrari, and why Red Bull's weekend unravelled so badly on a day when champion Max Verstappen admitted everything that could go wrong, did go wrong.
And the episode is rounded out, as ever, with a host of questions from The Race Members' Club, with Edd, Jon and Mark answering teasers on strategy, the safety car, Yuki Tsunoda and more.

The pressure is piling on Sergio Perez after another disappointing weekend at Silverstone, with rumours intensifying that Red Bull could replace him, despite the Mexican only recently signing a contract extension. Mark Hughes and Dutch TV commentator Nelson Valkenburg join Edd Straw to discuss all of these topics, and more...

mercredi 10 juillet 2024 • Durée 01:00:23
Back in February, when Lewis Hamilton's shock 2025 move to Ferrari was announced, you could argue it made a lot of sense - his Mercedes team were in poor form and Ferrari looked to be on the up. Those questions are answered in today's pod by Edd Straw, Ben Anderson and Glenn Freeman, who also tackle a host of other questions sent in by those in The Race Members' Club.

And finally, Edd and Scott assess the news that former Mercedes powertrains boss Andy Cowell is joining Aston Martin as CEO, replacing Martin Whitmarsh.

Why has one of F1's most controversial figures returned to Alpine?
Saison 5 · Épisode 60
mercredi 26 juin 2024 • Durée 01:03:12
In the run-up to the Spanish Grand Prix, Alpine confirmed it had hired former Benetton and Renault Formula 1 team boss Flavio Briatore as an executive advisor. Briatore ran the Enstone team for two spells under different guises, leading them to several titles along the way, but he exited amid scandal following the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix race-fixing incident. So why is he back now? And what does it mean for Alpine in the long- and short-term? Answering those questions are Edd Straw, Scott Mitchell-Malm and 'Team Enstone' specialist Damien Smith, author of the recent book 'Benetton: Rebels of Formula 1'.
