Épisode 41
dimanche 31 mars 2024 • Durée 12:29
When the joy of welcoming a new life is overshadowed by the silent battles of postpartum depression, the stories that emerge can be as heart-wrenching as they are crucial to share.
We previously left you on a cliffhanger. Now, here is part two of Patricia Tomasi's story. She shared her harrowing experience with postpartum anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and the chilling touch of psychosis, shedding light on the struggles that many new mothers face in silence.
Her candid recount speaks to the soul:
- Highlighting the often dismissive responses from healthcare professionals
- The arduous journey towards finding the right treatment
- It emphasizes why immediate and accurate care is not just necessary but life-saving.
We honour initiatives like Flora's Walk, which celebrates these stories while raising funds to enhance perinatal mental health programs and services.
Tune in for an inspiring conversation that is both a call to action and a profound reminder of the strength found in vulnerability and shared perinatal experiences.

Saison 1 · Épisode 35
dimanche 4 février 2024 • Durée 23:25
Why isn't anyone discussing this burnout recovery hack for moms? Jenn Hepton shatters the illusion of intense mothering.
Jenn shares personal details from her mothering and life. Jenn's poignant revelations, sparked by her mother's terminal illness, serve as our guide through the maze of cultural and patriarchal expectations.
I loved this conversation for so many reasons:
- The raw and vulnerable way she peels back the layers of "perfect" mothering (and how we all just believe it, like it's even achievable)
- Naming the deep-rooted struggles that come with rearing children
- The all too familiar fading personal dreams.
- Navigating the treacherous digital landscape
- We need to have a new definition of motherhood, one that honours individuality and encourages the setting of healthy boundaries.
- We challenge you to consider how motherhood does and doesn't feel authentic.
We explore the importance of digital detoxes and the complex emotions that may bubble up when we step back from our screens. From intentional breaks to the supportive networks that can guide us through the noise, we share practical tips for anyone looking to regain control over their motherhood.
This episode is an invitation to rediscover the joy of the present, unplugged and unencumbered by the pressures of modern motherhood.

No one told me it would be this way: Why matrescence helps make sense of motherhood with Katrina Court
Saison 1 · Épisode 32
dimanche 7 janvier 2024 • Durée 27:29
When I first held my newborn, I never realized that, just like them, I was embarking on a profound transformation. Our latest conversation with Katrina delves into this very metamorphosis, known as matrescence—the redefining of a woman's identity through motherhood. It's a journey that echoes the unpredictability of adolescence, complete with the resurgence of past traumas, hormonal roller coasters, and significant brain changes. Katrina's candid stories illuminate the often unspoken challenges that new mothers face, prompting a much-needed shift towards supporting a mother's well-being in equal measure to that of her child. We challenge the societal narrative that paints motherhood in extremes and advocate for a more nuanced appreciation of every mother's unique journey.
Transitioning gracefully through motherhood's stages requires a mindful approach, and this episode is rich with strategies for fostering self-compassion and finding joy in the smallest of parenting victories. From the grounding practice of maintaining a gratitude journal to the importance of redefining success in alignment with personal values, we offer actionable advice for navigating motherhood's complex landscape. Our discussion also emphasizes the crucial role of breaking the silence surrounding maternal struggles and the power that comes from sharing and seeking support. As Katrina opens up about her life's passions beyond motherhood, our listeners are invited to join the conversation and discover the resilience that lies within the heart of every mother's experience.

The Good Mom Myth, The Anxiety Trap, and Why You Feel Like You’re Failing with Olivia Scobie author of Impossible Parenting (1 of 3)
Saison 1 · Épisode 26
dimanche 12 novembre 2023 • Durée 16:50
Ever feel like you’re flunking motherhood? Like no matter how much you love your kids, you just can’t seem to live up to the impossible standards of being a “good” mom? You’re not alone—and you’re definitely not failing.
In this episode, I sit down with Olivia Scobie, author of Impossible Parenting, to talk about the toxic myths of modern motherhood, why some parenting phases feel harder than others (hello, Potato Phase), and why moms are allowed to dislike the newborn stage just as much as the teenage years (even if society says otherwise).
🌿 We’re breaking down:
✔️ Why motherhood feels like a rigged game
✔️ The Good Mom Myth and why it fuels anxiety
✔️ How to separate parenting work from the parent-child relationship
✔️ Why not loving every stage doesn’t make you a bad mom
✔️ How to outsource, set boundaries, and stop the shame spiral
💡 You’re not failing. You’re just in a clunky spot. And that’s okay.

Self Care Isn't Enough When You Wanna Be a Chill Mom with Jennifer Hopkins
Saison 1 · Épisode 20
dimanche 10 septembre 2023 • Durée 29:29
In this episode, Jenny and Kayla discuss why "self-care" isn't enough for modern mothers. You're probably familiar with the typical self-care activities like getting a manicure, taking a bubble bath, or getting a massage. Still, they often add more tasks to our overflowing to-do lists without making us feel any better.
Jenny offers some simple, practical steps for busy moms. She emphasizes the importance of being intentional and authentic with our self-care. Rather than adding more tasks to our plates, we need to identify what makes us feel alive and prioritize it because no one else will do it.
However, there are significant obstacles to self-care, such as financial constraints, lack of time, feelings of guilt, and a sense of low self-worth. It's time to take charge and start prioritizing ourselves while letting go of the guilt. We all deserve and need the same level of care and love that we give to others.
Let's stand up against the patriarchy and embrace genuine self-care. We'll learn how incorporating these practices can improve our mental health and well-being. By taking care of ourselves first, we can show up with more love for ourselves for those around us. After all, a CHILL mom is a force to be reckoned with!
