Whether you realize it or not, your spouse cannot make you orgasm. Your spouse can make you a priority, learn about what works for you, and encourage you, but they cannot make it happen. And... putting responsiblity where it does not belong is not fair and will add all kinds of unhelpful pressure.

So, I want to share what I have learned about taking responsibility for myself.

Jane's story of going throug a really hard time with her husband will inspire you to hang onto God. His confession of a porn struggle led Jane to reach out for help, pray for her husband and grow herself. Her transformation inspired his faith that he could be different too. Yearts later, they have created a marriage that is honest, real, intimate and filled with passion.

Others often define women's sexuality in terms of men. Have we bought into this framing and made our sexuality dependent on our husbands and what they do to get in the mood. LIke anything else, maybe we are supposed to rely on our husband for our identity. What if our husband is not responsible for getting us in the mood. Maybe we are supposed to figure out, what makes us feel sexy.

Married almost 50 years, Gail knows what it means to have fun during sex. But she has also learned to enjoy the simple pleasures of vanilla sex. Most of us love that idea that sex can make us into one within marriage - as long as it is on our time table, or when we feel close to our husband. But what if God created sex to make us into one when we feel disconnected, angry at our spouse, or don't agree? Do we have a spouse that we trust and do we trust God enough to step into the uncomfortable  and that which does not come naturally?

For this mom of 5, embracing sex for herself has been a journey of ups and downs. But leaning into intimacy, vulnerably sharing and letting herself be known, both with God and with her husband has been a key. When she pushes herself to talk about sex, or her struggles with sex, then she moves towards greater freedom. 

Many of us struggle to freely share our bodies with our husband, and you might think that’s normal or no big deal. Or maybe you’ve convinced yourself that if you just stopped comparing yourself to photoshopped images, the problem would go away.

But learning to share your body during sex requires a radical self-acceptance. Embracing the undeniable truth that YOU are God's creation - absolutely unique, made in the image of God, and stunningly beautiful, inside and out, will set you free – not just in the marriage bed but as a way of understanding God’s radical love.
