23 Jan 2019 | How to Stop using Excuses and Achieve Anything in Life | 00:17:54
Have you ever wondered why it seems easier for men to realize their dreams than it does for women? In our society, women are expected to take care of their children, their home, and the people around them while men are supposed to be the providers for the family. And while some cultural societies may be more accepting of women focusing on their career dreams and goals, these expectations still seem to creep up for many ambitious women - often manifesting as excuses for not reaching their goals or achieving their dreams.
As a little girl, my parents taught me to believe in myself and that anything was possible. As I got older, I had the shocking realization that not everyone shares this belief.
In this episode, I tell the story of how I discovered that many ambitious women in business struggle to believe in themselves and how they make excuses that result in not achieving their dreams. I also discuss the impact that society’s expectations have on the mindset of many women in business, my perspective on how not following your dreams can impact and influence the people around you, and the importance of getting rid of your excuses once and for all and begin following your passion and achieving your dreams.
“Excuses are just a way for you to kill your dream.” - Sigrun

26 Aug 2020 | How I Made €20K with My First Ever Launch with Vanessa Laszlo | 00:21:48
Vanessa is a psychologist who has worked as a consultant for corporate clients since 20 years. Her business was very successful offline, and even though she didn’t have a large number of clients, the client base she had was loyal to her. However, when COVID19 hit the businesses of these clients, Vanessa’s own business came to a grinding halt. Unable to afford her services anymore, they cancelled their appointments with Vanessa. Back in March, she was actually happy to have some time off to spend with her daughter. She enjoyed not having to follow up with all the obligations she usually had. But after a few weeks, Vanessa realised that this wasn’t just a short vacation - she wasn’t able to go back to her normal at all. 2020 was supposed to be her biggest year financially, but that goal seemed impossible to reach now the Corona crisis was here. The shock of it made her feel depressed and fall into self-pity. But Vanessa remembered an experiment she did when she was a psychologist student at university, involving a rat and a maze that reflected the complexity of everyday life for a human being. The result was that the rat became motivated to keep looking for food, even when the maze changed and it didn’t find the food at its usual place. Vanessa realised that much like the rat, she wasn’t supposed to expect her business to take off again where she left it, but had to explore new ways. That’s when she signed up for SOMBA Accelerator and took her offline business online. In this episode of the Sigrun Show, Vanessa talks about her experience joining SOMBA Accelerator and what she learned taking her first steps online. She shares how her very first 20K launch made her feel, and what’s next for her business. If you're thinking about taking your business online, are scared of your first launch or just want to be inspired by an amazing success story, this episode is a must-listen!

19 Aug 2020 | Lessons from a $650K launch with 80% profit | 00:41:15
Have you ever been in awe of people who have six figure launches and wonder what secret super power they possess to reach such results? When I started my online business, I deeply admired these online entrepreneurs. Never in a million years did I think that one day I would become one of them. The first 9 months in online business I didn’t have a clue what I was doing. I didn’t have a strategy and just did what I saw other people doing. I knew about freebies, landing pages, webinars and Facebook groups but I still didn’t grasp the idea of launching or just generally how to sell online. My biggest issue was this: I didn’t know how to go from helping for free to asking for the sale, strategically and mindset-wise. I had my first sale and was building my list with weekly webinars, but I was getting increasingly frustrated with myself for not knowing how to launch. I knew I needed help, both for my mindset and for the right strategy, so I hired a business coach who specialised in launching. My first launch was the mindset shift I needed to understand how to market and sell online. Since then I have done over 20 multiple 5- and multiple 6-figure launches, plus I have done dozens of promotions that I don’t count as launches but have generated a lot of revenue. In the last 3 years all my launches have been multiple six figures, ranging from 100K to over 500K and conversion rates from 2% to 5%. But my latest launch was the biggest and most profitable launch I’ve done so far with $665K in revenue and 82% launch profit. In this episode of the Sigrun Show, I want to share with you the lessons I learned from this biggest and best launch I just did. Don’t miss out on this episode if you want to know how you can improve your own launch! “If there’s one lesson to be learnt from this launch, it’s creating a runway.”- Sigrun
What you will get out of this episode:
Want to learn more about launching? Discover how to learn from your launch and do it better next time or listen to some more launch lessons from a $450k launch.
Main Take-Aways from a $650K Launch You don’t typically have a multiple six figure launch just out of the gate. For most of us, It’s a gradual process. Here are the main take-aways from my latest $650K launch, which was my biggest launch yet.
Brand Having a brand people are talking about is important if you aim for a six figure launch. Create content in the form of a podcast or blog posts to keep people engaged and talking about what it is you do. If you don’t have already, start collecting success stories and use them as testimonials on your sales page. They will give you credibility and strengthen your brand.
Runway The longer your launch runway is, the bigger your launch could potentially be. A launch runway is a launch activity that prepares your ideal client for your launch without them knowing that you are already launching. The goal is to give your ideal client content that makes them want to buy your program once you launch it. You don’t have to talk about your program all the time or constantly try to sell during this time, but it’s a great opportunity for seeding.
Offer Having an offer that makes sense price-wise is essential. I’ve sold SOMBA multiple times for $2997, but this time, I’ve decided it’s the last time I would sell it for this price. SOMBA started out as a 12 month program but now, I’ve created two 10-week programs out of it to tailor to my client’s needs. It doesn’t make sense to sell SOMBA as a 12 month program anymore. The fact that I will increase the price from now on might have added to the conversion rate of this particular launch.
Upsell Five days after closing cart and people starting with SOMBA, I did an information call for my Momentum group coaching program and several people ended up joining that program. At the same time, a few people renewed their SOMBA access for another year. In total, the upsells and renewals made out 25% of my launch revenue. Doing renewals and upsells at the same time you’re launching is a great way to show your current clients or clients who want to go further and get more support what other possibilities they have working with you. Are you about to launch yourself? I would love to hear how you are preparing your launch, the difficulties you might have encountered and the lessons you have learned. You can follow and connect with me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

As an online entrepreneur, you may wonder where and how to get clients. Since Facebook is one of the most used social media tools today, you may be tempted to create an account, join some groups, and immediately send private messages to potential clients. 03 Mar 2021 | Why Messaging is More than a Tagline with Michelle Mazur | 00:26:51
Messaging is the foundation of your business – it influences your positioning, your client journey and marketing. If you don’t attract your ideal clients, it often comes down to the wrong messaging. Michelle Mazur is my guest this week on The Sigrun Show and she is passionate about messaging. She came up with the 3 Word Rebellion, a concept that not only helps entrepreneurs capture their powerful, intriguing message, but also become thought leaders. We spoke about what messaging is, how you can find and define your message, and Michelle’s 3 Word Rebellion and how it can work for your business. Are you wondering how you can make your message more captivating and intriguing? Then dive right in! “Anybody can have red or blue hair – but when you have your own three word rebellion, that is your unique mark on the world.” - Michelle Mazur
Are you more of a reader? Scroll down to read about the 3 Word Rebellion and how it can make your messaging more powerful!
In this Episode of The Sigrun Show:
How to Make Your Messaging More Powerful Messaging is a foundational piece of your business. It’s where your copy, your marketing and PR efforts, and ultimately your sales come from. Figuring out how you communicate your offer is key to reaching people and get them into your orbit. But what is the key to powerful messaging? Michelle says it starts with your audience. Understand who they are, what their challenges are, and why they’re hesitant about going all in on the change you could create for them with your business. Truly emphasize with their needs, fears and objections. Client journey Audience growth comes from people who are still unaware of you. If you’re not speaking to them and reaching where they are, think how you can capture their attention, make an offer that’s compelling, figur eout what your lead magnet should be to get them into your community. The 3 Word Rebellion With the 3 Word Rebellion, Michelle came up with a concept to position entrepreneurs as thought leaders, create a message that is spreadable because it’s not about you, it creates intrigue and captures attention. It’s job is to capture people’s attention, garner curiosity and make them think.
Get people’s attention, make them lean forward and wonder what it means. The next step is to make them think about what it means for themselves and their business.
Once you have their attention, how do you keep it with the content and conversations you’re providing?
It’s gabbing that first attention that doesn’t mean you have to have a crazy haircolour or do funny dances on tick-tock. It’s a powerful way to own your space in your industry. It’s powerful. The challenge is how do you make what you do your own and then offer that up in your industry? That’s how you create a category of one. Connect with Michelle Mazur:

20 Dec 2022 | [Best of] How to Start and Scale Your Online Business without Overwhelm and Excuses | 00:17:33
Are you on the fence about starting your online business? Even if you know you need to? Online is here to stay - we all know it. Having an online business is more important than ever in times when everything is uncertain and another lockdown could happen at any moment. I hear many women who want to go online, yet they feel overwhelmed and come up with excuses. Starting and scaling an online business can seem scary. But if you have the right process and are willing to take action, you’ve already gone half the way. My business has grown over 30% compared to the same period last year, and in this episode of the Sigrun Show, I will break down how easy it is to get started and scale your online business without getting overwhelmed. If you know that online is the way to go but you’re stuck, overthinking or are scared of taking the next step, this episode is for you.
“People don’t really take action on their own.”- Sigrun
What you will get out of this episode:
Want to dive deeper? If you're just getting started, find out if you can start a business without a business idea or how to stop overthinking and start doing today.
Start and Scale Your Online Business: Finding the Right Process We will not go back to the way things were before. Online is here to stay - and having an online business has become more important than ever before. Most business owners understand the importance of being able to go 100% online. What if a second wave hits us? What if there is another lockdown? But what is the easiest way to get started and scale your online business without getting stuck, procrastinating, overcoming perfectionism? Over the years I have come up with a process I apply in my 8 and 10 week challenges that helps my clients get out of their overwhelm and makes them take action. Here, I’m revealing the key components of this process to you:
When people see all the possibilities, when they start to worry about freebies, landing pages, email lists, websites, their social media presence, launches - they quickly give up because it overwhelms them. Of course these are things you need to do when creating and scaling your online business, but you don’t necessarily have to do them today, or tomorrow, or even this week. For my challenge, I came up with 26 tiny steps to follow, and suddenly, everyone could do it, even the ones who were the most scared. The overwhelm was gone.
I encourage my clients to fill out a form on a regular basis throughout the program. That’s how I get them to commit to the process. It also creates a sense of responsibility. A lot of people buy courses and never finish them. By filling out forms, they are committing to do the work. And when someone has doubts, people in the community surround them with inspiration and motivation, and the positive group pressure keeps them going.
When you decide to start and scale your online business, you have to find a process and stick with it. When you start to doubt this process, you won’t keep up and get stuck, and eventually give up. That’s why everyday, I tell my clients to just trust the process.
It’s so important to celebrate success. After 10 weeks, I do a celebration call where I highlight all the wins of my clients, and they can share what went well for them and what they want to improve. Celebrating success makes them see their progress and inspires them to go even further.
With this process, I’ve helped hundreds of women get unstuck. They stopped being overwhelmed, using excuses and got their work done. If you want to start your online business, I encourage you to find a way to be a part of such a process. Because even though I’m very self-motivated myself, I wish I had found a process like this to guide me when I was starting out in my business. Are you ready to start and scale your own online business? Let me know if this episode inspired you to take action. You can follow and connect with me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

04 Nov 2020 | How to Be Category of One with Eleanor Beaton | 00:35:25
I’m so excited to speak with this week’s guest on The Sigrun Show, Eleanor Beaton. Eleanor and I met in Ali Brown’s premier program over a year ago. She stood up and spoke so elegantly in front of everyone that I thought she looked and sounded like a queen, and I just had to invite her on my podcast.
Eleanor is a business coach helping women entrepreneurs unleash the power of their voices. Her mission is to double the number of female entrepreneurs who scale past 7 figures in revenue, and she believes finding their voice is a huge part of that.
Eleanor has a background in communications, having advised politicians, CEOs and organisations on effective communication and helping them change public policy, influence political decisions or have a powerful voice in the boardroom.
During her work, she increasingly started to engage with women leaders and saw an opportunity and need to coach women. At the same time, Eleanor realised that she was hiding her own voice by acting behind the scenes as an advisor. Going online was the perfect opportunity to get her message out to the world, and so she founded her coaching business in 2014.
Today, we talk about leadership and why people struggle to find their voice. Eleanor shares how you can differentiate yourself from others and be category of one. Don’t miss out on this episode to find out which steps you can take to become a true leader who stands out. “If you don’t understand how to evolve as a leader, it can compromise your business growth.” - Eleanor Beaton
In This Episode of The Sigrun Show:
Need more inspiration on leadership and standing out with your business? Understand why you should speak your mind even if your voice shakes, or how you can step up as a true leader in times of crisis. 3 Key Areas to Focus on if You Want to Be in a Category of One
If you want to stand out from the crowd, become a leader and be in a category of one, Eleanor says there are three key areas you should focus on: niche, leadership voice and positioning.
Niche Niching is the act of focusing your offer on a specific group of people. Think about who it is you specifically want to help and target your offer towards them. If you think about how much stimulus the average person receives on a day to day basis, it’s important that you are memorable and that your target group is clear about what you do and how you help them. Being category of one begins with niching, and it’s something you can start right away.
Leadership Voice If you don’t have your own voice, you’re going to default and sound like everyone else. Without a voice you can never be a category leader, but instead are a category follower. If your website and images look exactly the same as everyone else’s, or if you use the same language and expressions other people use, you will never be memorable. That’s why right after niching, you need to find your leadership voice and distinct yourself from others. Socialise, educate and inform people about your niche. Understand how to be a spokesperson for your company. This takes more time than niching, but it’s a skill you can practice and get better at over a period of time.
Positioning The third area you need to focus on is positioning. Solidify your position by attracting the right audience and position yourself at the high-end. It becomes about what you don’t do, about who you’re associated and aligned with. Be intentional about showing up as a premium brand. You don’t become category of one overnight. It takes at least a year until the market begins to see that you are sticking out. But the good thing is: You can start doing it right away. Are you inspired to be category of one? I’m curious to know what you’re doing to stand out in your area of expertise. You can follow and connect with me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

10 Jun 2020 | How to Turn Cold Leads into Raving Fans through Email Marketing with Bobby Klinck | 00:37:04
We’ve all been there: You just published your blog post or put live your latest podcast episode and sent out an email to your whole list, letting them know about the amazing content you’ve prepared. The response? Crickets. Bobby Klinck knows that kind of deafening silence all too well. He graduated from Harvard law school, worked in prestigious law firms and for the government. He suited up, but soon realised it wasn’t for him. That’s when he decided to pivot and build up his own online business. At first he struggled. He made the classic entrepreneurial mistake of thinking he knew exactly what his audience needed. “It was a total flop,” he remembers his first launch, for he only made one sale, and the person who bought asked for a refund the day before the end of his course. But he didn’t give up. Bobby took the time to get to know other online entrepreneurs and understand what their fears and needs are. When the GDPR law was introduced, Amy Porterfield interviewed him on her podcast as an expert, and things started rolling. He was giving free advice on legal issues and selling legal templates when people started asking him how he managed to get all these raving fans. At the time, Bobby had switched to only doing email launches, and had discovered something very important: People didn’t want a weekly summary of his legal content. They wanted to read his stories. In this episode of the Sigrun Show, Bobby shares how he uses storytelling in his email marketing to connect with his audience and turn cold leads into raving fans. Are you wondering what will make your audience read your weekly emails? If you’re frustrated about your low opening rates, this episode is a must-listen!
“Every single week, I send my email list a story of my life.”- Bobby Klinck
What you will get out of this episode:
Want to know more about storytelling and creating epic content? Read the story behind my biggest email mistake or learn how to make your content stand out in a crowded marketplace.
How to Boost Your Email Marketing with Storytelling Don’t think you’re a good storyteller? I never thought of myself as a good copywriter. I started to write newsletters and did what I saw everybody else doing. The result? I got no responses to my emails. Even I started to think that my newsletters were boring. I decided to start telling stories instead, and that’s when everything changed.
A story doesn’t have to be grand or epic. Most stories can be something that happened to you in 15 seconds but you still learned a lesson from. It’s about the small things that happen to you throughout the day. There’s nothing like storytelling to create a connection with your audience and boost your email marketing. To help you write great stories, here are some tips:
Everything that happens to you is a potential story - special and weird moments, but also when you make a mistake. Start collecting these story ideas in a journal or on a spreadsheet so you can use them for future newsletters. You don’t have to write up the whole story, just write down the topic and what the story is about so it will jog your memory. Put down some bullet points with lessons or themes you could take out of that story that are related to your business. The key here is: Share your story when you feel ready to share the lesson you’ve learned from it.
When you’re telling stories, tell them as if you’re talking to a friend, not to an email list of people you might not know. Be yourself, authentic, real and vulnerable. However: Be sure the point of your story comes across. If it doesn’t have a clear message, it’s like telling a joke without revealing its ending. The joke won’t work.
It’s important that you start and finish your story strong. Start with a sentence that immediately grabs the attention of your readers, and only then explain the circumstances around it. Choose an exciting subject line to make sure the people on your list want to know more. Are you inspired to start telling your stories and use them for your email marketing? Let me know if this episode was helpful to you. You can follow and connect with me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

27 Jul 2018 | The Dark Side of Online Business | 00:12:37
Like many things in life, online business has a bright side and a darker side. For years, I’ve shared the ups and downs of running an online business, but there is a darker side that many people don’t talk about.
As entrepreneurs, we want to increase our online visibility. We want to grow our email lists and engage with our followers, fans, and subscribers. But sometimes, running an online business can attract the wrong kind of attention.
In this episode, I share my experience with the dark side of running an online business. I talk about receiving creepy emails and rude comments on my Facebook posts and ads as well as the strategies I used to handle these situations. I also explain why ignoring rude comments on your Facebook business page posts is often the best solution for dealing with online trolls and how those trolls are actually helping you grow your online business without realizing it.

07 Oct 2020 | How to Figure Out Your Brand Personality with Kira Hug | 00:39:04
If you’re a writer, you can’t make a living - this was the belief Kira Hug grew up with, so rather than pursuing a writing career, she became an artist. By 2015, Kira had tried out many ideas, even started a business in the wedding industry, but nothing quite fit. It wasn’t until a friend told her that she could actually make money writing copy for other people that she decided to go down this road. She put a transition plan into place, joined a mastermind group, surrounded herself with other copywriters and learned as much as she could, all the while building up her business and creating her own brand. Now, she specialises in writing conversion copy and helps small businesses to define their brand personality. Kira and I worked together two years ago and I loved the process we went through. She surveyed and interviewed my clients in order to create emails and sales pages that really spoke to my audience. Everytime I want to write a sales page I think back to the process she used, which I’m still benefiting from today. This week on The Sigrun Show, Kira talks about how she invested in herself from the very beginning and how she started focusing on branding. She also shares her brand living room framework and how you can use it to define your own brand personality. If you ever wanted to get clear on your branding, don’t miss out on this episode! “To write copy, you need to understand your messaging, your voice, your tone and your audience.” - Kira Hug
In This Episode of The Sigrun Show:
Do you want to learn more about branding? Find out how to create a standout brand and website or how to build your personal brand on LinkedIn.
Creating Your Brand Personality: The Brand Living Room Framework To create brand personality, Kira came up with a framework where she tells her clients to envision a figurative living room and slowly fill it with things that represent them. To envision your own brand living room and create your brand personality, follow the following steps:
Step 1: You Imagine yourself in your brand living room. You are the face of your brand. How are you showing up? What is your energy and what are you wearing? Some people are very clear on what they would have in their living room, down to their signature colour and tiny details. If you don’t have a clear mental picture of your living room and yourself in it, think about who you are and how you want to come across to others. Are you more casual or elegant? Loud or mellow? Then think of details you could add that represent you. What’s your favourite animal? To finish off step one, imagine you have to give a toast. What would you say? What do you care about most? This will uncover your core values, which you then will incorporate in your messaging.
Step 2: Your guests Imagine you have guests in your living room. They represent your audience, and you need to figure out what their level of awareness is. How well do they know you and what you’re offering? Try to determine your proximity to your guests by understanding into which of the following categories they fit in:
Category 1: These are the people who are most aware of you. They are the ones who buy all your products, constantly talk about you and refer you to others.
Category 2: These are the people who are product-aware, meaning they know about you and your offer but they haven’t bought it yet. They are the people who aren’t sure yet if you are the best solution for them, and you’re trying to convert them. Think about what kind of questions these people might ask you.
Category 3: These are people who know that there are solutions to their problems out there, but they may not know about your solution yet. They know somebody can help them, but they haven’t heard of you yet.
Category 4: These are the people who are problem-aware, meaning somebody told them that they can show up with their problems and you can fix them.
Category 5: These are people who are completely unaware. They don’t know they have a problem and are not looking for a solution. In order to get them into your living room, you would have to stand on your porch and shout at them to get their attention.
It’s important to determine into which categories your audience fits, because it will affect the way you will talk to them.
Step 3: Nailing your setting What you’re offering and who you are needs to be of relevance to your audience, that’s why you need to understand what is happening outside of your living room. What are your guests thinking about when they walk into your living room? What stresses them, what moves them? What’s on TV, what’s on the news? Having a deep understanding of what is going on outside before you start writing your copy helps you to speak in a human way to your audience.
Step 4: Your advantage Imagine your living room and the guests (your audience) sitting in it. What are you teaching them that makes you different from everybody else? When are people leaning in and listening to you? Figuring out what you do differently will set you apart from others and give you an advantage.
Step 5: Standing out in your marketplace And finally, evaluate how well your audience is paying attention to you. How crowded is your marketspace? Do your competitors use the same words you do and make the same claim? While at times it’s great to ignore your competitors, there’s also a point where you need to pay attention to what they are doing. Analyse them and understand their message, their offers, their mechanisms and how they deliver - not to copy them, but to understand what you need to do to pivot your own message. Did this exercise help you with your brand personality? I would love to hear what you came up with. You can follow and connect with me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

06 Aug 2018 | What to See and Do in Iceland | 00:17:19
For many years, tourism wasn’t a growing industry in Iceland. In fact, for a very long time there were only about 500,000 tourists visiting this beautiful nation each year - at least until the Eyjafjallajökull volcano erupted in 2010, which made international headlines for stopping air traffic over Europe and the Atlantic for two weeks.
Since then, Iceland has made international headlines several times, which has caused a significant spike in tourists visiting as well as people scouring Google to learn more about it.
I love Iceland, and as a native Icelander, I am frequently asked about the activities you can do and places you can see while visiting the country. So, in this episode, I share a behind-the-scenes glimpse of what it is like to visit Iceland, the events and festivities you can attend, and the beautiful scenery you can explore while touring my homeland. I also share some of my favorite scenic landscapes and activities I enjoy with my family and the participants of the Mastermind Retreat Iceland.

29 Jul 2020 | How I Became a Teenage Activist and Entrepreneur by Living Lively with Haile Thomas | 00:38:06
Haile Thomas is the youngest person to ever appear on the Sigrun Show, and she has an inspiring story to tell.
At only 19 years old, she is an international speaker, activist and CEO of her own non-profit HAPPY, which she founded when she was 12. She has been featured on TV and highlighted in publications like O Magazine and Teen Vogue.
Her journey started when she was a very young child and her parents welcomed her to joining conversations they had with other adults instead of sending her away to play. It made her very secure at an early age.
When Haile’s father was diagnosed with diabetes and the medications he had to take caused severe side effects, her family started looking for alternative treatments. Haile was fully involved in the process of healing her dad and in the process learned about the power of healthy nutrition and coming together as a community for a cause. In the end, her family was able to reverse the condition of her father without the use of medication.
Haile felt so inspired, but was also increasingly shocked that children aren’t learning more about leading a healthy life. She made it her mission to motivate and empower young people to prioritize self-care and pursue healthy and purpose filled lives, impacting thousands in the process.
“When you follow that intention and purpose behind what you’re doing, all else that you need follows suit.”- Haile Thomas
Speaker at the Selfmade Summit I came across Haile when I was planning the Selfmade Summit in Iceland. It would have been this year, but because of the ongoing pandemic I postponed it to June 2021. I had most of my speakers lined up, but I wanted to also have someone speak on stage who was younger. Haile was recommended to me by other entrepreneurs, and when I checked out her website, I knew she was the one.
In this episode of the Sigrun Show, she talks about the moment she became an activist, the time she worked with Michelle Obama and how this year has affected her work so far. She also introduces her new book Living Lively.
If you want to be inspired by a young woman who has achieved incredible things at a very young age, lean back and hit play.
What you will get out of this episode:
Do you want to know more about speaking up and making yourself heard? Learn how to speak your mind even if your voice shakes.
The Incredible Journey of Haile Thomas
When Haile was a child, her father was diagnosed with diabetes. The medication he had to take caused severe side effects, and the family thought of alternative ways to treat him, including a healthier nutrition. They were able to reverse his condition, and Haile felt so inspired that she wanted to do more to promote wellbeing and healthy living.
She joined the youth advisory board for the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a non-profit in the US. It was the first step in what would become an unique journey.
Haile underwent extensive training, was taught what was going on in the world and what she could do to help her community. The organisation saw her potential for public speaking, and at the age of 10, Haile had her first speaking engagement at a big health conference in Washington D.C.
She was speaking in front of corporate leaders, people from the health and wellness industry, chefs she had always admired on TV, and former First Lady Michelle Obama.
After the event, Haile was approached by representatives of hotels who liked the idea of children being involved in their own wellbeing so much that they wanted her to revise their kid’s menu which was being served across the country and in the Caribbean.
It was this partnership that got the media’s attention. Haile spoke on national TV, was invited to podcasts and interviewed by local news stations. She attended big events and met high-profile people, but she started to realise that she was losing the ability to really make an impact in the way she originally intended to.
Book release of Living Lively and Keynote Speaker at the Selfmade Summit
Together with her mother, she started brainstorming about how she could be more community centred and came up with the idea to create a non-profit where she could talk to children and educate her peers.
Even though she had a lot of knowledge, she felt she needed to get an external certification in order to validate her before others. However, what really drove her was the desire to learn as much as she possibly could in the field. She attended the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and was the youngest to graduate as a nutrition health coach. She was 16 years old at the time.
More confident with her education and ability to speak, Haile was able to infuse her expertise into her non-profit HAPPY. Her work today includes talking about nutrition and cooking, but also mental health and self-care.
Her most recent step is the release of her book Living Lively. She was collecting ideas for years, and has now combined the topics of self-growth and wellness with nutrition. “It feels like a human 101 guide from the perspective of a young person - that’s exactly what Living Lively is.”
We can doubtlessly expect many more great things from Haile, and I’m proud she will be attending the Selfmade Summit in Iceland next year as a keynote speaker.

08 Jul 2020 | How You Need to Pivot Your Content in the Age of COVID with Celinne da Costa | 00:31:56
Have you ever felt you’re living your life according to what other people expect of you?
Celinne da Costa felt exactly like this when she was working a corporate job around the clock for a big agency in New York. When she was a child, she immigrated to the US from Italy and felt she had to work extra hard to achieve the American dream.
She had big expectations about who she needed to become, but when she started feeling miserable and without purpose, she realised that all this time she had worked to become a version of who others wanted her to be. She had been living other people’s dreams.
Then she fell into a low. Her grandfather died, her boyfriend broke up with her on her birthday, she didn’t get the promotion she expected and her rent went up by 30%. That’s when she knew things had to change. Nine months later, she was on a one-way flight to Europe.
Celinne embarked on a social experiment. She challenged herself to travel the world through couch surfing, never going to a hotel but sleeping in the homes of strangers. She ended up staying with 100 people in 20 countries. The experience has brought her to where she is today.
In this episode of the Sigrun Show, Celinne talks about how interviewing all the people she met around the world made her discover that every single person has a story to tell. She shares how she took this insight to start her own business, helping others find out who they are and who they want to become, and creating a powerful brand story around them. Celinne also talks about how she shifted her content to align with the changing times we live in.
This episode is for you if you want to find out what the essence of a good story is, and if you want some tips on how you can pivot your content in the age of COVID.
“Every single day, my goal was to share a story.”- Celinne da Costa 12:36-13:04
What you will get out of this episode:
Ready to pivot your content or discover your own story? Learn to tell your story or check out how you can connect with your dream client through storytelling.
How to Pivot Your Content Right Now
Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus, Celinne observed that people are mostly reactive with their content, posting and publishing it without thinking how it relates to their business and the people they’re trying to serve. “It was as if everyone was running towards something, climbing on top of each other, creating a mess.”
With the changing situation, it’s become clear that your content needs to change to be able to speak to the needs of your audience. The best way to do that is by being proactive and showing up as a leader in your niche. Here, Celinne shares tips how you can shift your content in the age of COVID.
Come back to your bigger “why” This is the key to creating your content. Ask yourself why your business exists, why you get out of bed in the morning, what your bigger purpose is. Dig deep within and reconnect with your vision and mission.
The needs of your audience Once you have your “why” clear in front of you, think about what kind of content would serve your audience right now. It should be content that is still relating to your why, but also isn’t blind to the events that are happening. Say focused on the bigger message you want to share and how that can benefit your audience. Stories about 100k months or going on travelling adventures were inspirational when people believed that it was possible for them, too. But right now, these big stories feel untouchable for people who are in survival mode. Make your content shift and speak to the problems people have right now.
Vulnerability Share your challenges and struggles with your audience. Tell them you understand what they are going through because it’s affecting you, too. Make them see how you’re showing up during these times, and how they can deal with the situation.
Short-term comfort A lot of entrepreneurs are thriving right now because they’re offering short-term solutions. What people need right now are quick wins, so it’s not the best time to offer year long programs or processes where they won’t see results early on. Give your audience something they can implement and see results right away.
Brand building Not everyone has the resources to invest in you right now. But you should still think about creating connections and inspiration by sharing your vision and giving people value. You can do this through a freebie, a masterclass or even your higher end content. Because when the crisis passes and people have the resources again to invest, they are going to remember the brands that gave them inspiration and guidance during this difficult time, and turn to them.
Did this episode help you get ideas on how to pivot your content? Let me know if you made any shifts with your content. You can follow and connect with me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Momentum This week, I’m starting a new sprint inside my Momentum group coaching and accountability program. Most online entrepreneurs plan and prepare their launches too late or just a couple of weeks before they want to launch. With this new 60 day sprint, our Momentum members will create a runway so their launches can take off in the fall. I always have a runway in my launches and this is the first time I break down exactly what you need to do to have a multiple 6 or 7 figure launch.
I’m so excited to see everyone in Momentum take off with a great runway. If you’re making money in your online business but not yet at $20K/month then Momentum might be something for you.

04 Jun 2021 | How to Think Bigger with Don Hobbs | 00:29:14
A big vision and a small vision take exactly the same amount of time, effort and energy — so why not think big? Don Hobbs, my guest this week on The Sigrun Show, really inspired me with these words. Don began a successful sales and leadership career when he was just 18 years old, working with personal development legend Jim Rohn. He built and owned several companies and is a speaker, influencer, and president of Success magazine. His ultimate vision is to inspire people to change their lives and businesses and in this episode, we talk about how you can think bigger, act bigger, and really show up — because the world has never been changed by anyone who’s played small. In this Episode of The Sigrun Show:
Don’s most inspirational thoughts from this episode A big vision and a small vision take exactly the same amount of time, effort and energy. But if you think small, no one wants to join or follow you. If you think big, everyone wants to join you and be inspired. The only difference between these two results is how big you think, the vision you have. Quoting Cherie Carter-Scott. Commitment is what turns dreams into reality. Your choice is what you want, and your commitment is what allows you to have it. It doesn’t matter what you commit to, what matters is the relationship you develop with yourself by committing to what you want. When you commit, you know you can be counted on to do what you say you will do. For people who have a strong investment in not getting what they want, commitment is extremely uncomfortable and sometimes painful. The painful part is letting go of the attachment to not getting what you want. Commitment means getting out there and making it happen. When you have committed to someone or something, there is no more confusion or doubt. You have direction, focus and purpose. Commitment gives you freedom and great power. Commitment means that you back yourself and that you stand behind your choices. Commitment means giving yourself all the power in your life. It means being committed to you. Quoting Marianne Williamson. Our deepest fear is not that we’re inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It’s our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our fears, our presence automatically liberates others. Playing small doesn’t serve anybody. The world has never been changed by somebody who played small. The world has been changed by people who said: It’s not ok that it’s like this. People deserve more. If you’re inspired and have a vision for doing something, make it a big vision. Let’s not live as an example of what not to do, but what to do. Knowing that you are enough is the core of it. Are you ready to think big? Showing up, thinking big and putting yourself out there starts with one simple thing: Taking action. I invite you to take action this summer. I’m currently running Online Business Summer School, the best and biggest FREE program I’ve ever done, and it’s for anyone who wants to make massive progress in their online business this summer. 08 Apr 2020 | How to Build Your Personal Brand on LinkedIn with Dr. Natalia Wiechowski | 00:31:26
Have you ever received one of those connection requests on LinkedIn from a person who obviously has no idea what your business is about?
I have, many times.
Growing your connections on LinkedIn can really pay off, but your success lies in how you go about doing it. And Natalia Wiechowski, LinkedIn strategist, knows exactly how to avoid making mistakes.
I came across Natalia when I was scrolling through the podcast charts looking for an interesting guest, and her name popped up. I immediately knew she has valuable information to share with you.
Before Natalia became a LinkedIn strategist and personal branding expert, she was a doctor of philosophy and worked as a library manager in the United Arab Emirates, but soon moved into marketing. By the time she was 29, she realized that she was living an illusion. “I always thought I’ll be happy in my next job, without understanding what happiness really means to me.” She felt miserable, quit her job, went on a 9-month sabbatical and finally found her dream lifestyle and career.
When Natalia was looking for a professional platform through which she could bring traffic to her blog, she discovered LinkedIn. Today, she is known as the LinkedIn marketing unicorn, was invited by Forbes to join their coaches council and has become a LinkedIn learning author, creating online courses for LinkedIn.
So if you want to grow your audience on LinkedIn but don’t know how, this interview with Natalia is for you.
On this episode of the Sigrun Show, she reveals the strategy behind growing your connections and the 5 steps to increase your following on LinkedIn, plus she talks about how she manages to run her business in two languages.
If you want to learn how to approach a person you want to connect with on LinkedIn using the right message, this episode will help you.
“I needed a platform where people have a brain, where they want to learn and listen to me, not only look at pictures. LinkedIn was it.” - Natalia Wiechowski

14 Oct 2017 | How to Write Emails That Inspire and Convert | 00:21:17
There are many ways to write emails as you reach out and try to connect with your audience. I have determined that the best strategy —among the different email writing styles and techniques— is storytelling. Storytelling has been a powerful way for me to make an impact and connect with people. In this episode, I share how you can find ideas for stories to include in your emails that will inspire and convert to leads and sales. I also go over how to connect your story to what you’re selling, how you can effectively tell a story in two minutes, and the benefits of imagining you’re talking to a friend when telling your story. “Storytelling builds amazing connections and relationships, and makes sales so much easier.” - Sigrun

18 Aug 2017 | [On Air Coaching] How Do I Spend Less Time on Marketing? with Birgit Pestalozzi | 00:17:41
Marketing is one of the most important parts of running your business. Without it, your potential clients won’t find you or your services. While marketing is key to a business’s success, many entrepreneurs spend too much time marketing their services and not enough time on activities that directly result in revenue to scale their business. Birgit Pestalozzi is the owner of The Happy Heart Coach, a relationship coaching business focused on helping successful women in business find their “Mr. Right” in a time-efficient manner. Over the last several months, she has spent more time and energy on nurturing her growing audience than she has focusing on creating revenue-producing products. She joins me to learn strategies that can help her spend less time on marketing, overcome the “shiny objects syndrome,” and focus on the right things that will help her grow her business. “You don’t have to do everything.” - Sigrun In This Episode of The Sigrun Show:

In this episode, I share how I took my business from zero to 7 figures in four years, the key strategies I used to grow my online business to where it is today, and hard lessons I’ve learned about growing an online business.

In this episode, I share 8 lessons from attending Michelle Obama’s book tour. I discuss how my values and beliefs on raising children align with Michelle Obama’s and why entrepreneurs need to focus on their health and wellness. As well as sharing how Michelle has inspired me to let go of perfectionism and ask for help. I also share the mantra Michelle used as First Lady when faced with political attacks and why I’ve decided to adopt this mantra when reacting to comments and feedback online.

12 May 2021 | The Real Reason Your Business Isn’t Growing with Nada Lena | 00:26:33
Why are some people successful in online business and some aren’t? Nada Lena, my guest this week on The Sigrun Show, says it’s all about confidence. Building an online business isn’t rocket science – all the information, tools and strategies are out there. According to Nada, there’s another reason why most people aren’t running million dollar online businesses: Something stands between them and taking action in a way that’s going to make a difference in their business. In this episode, she talks about the difference between micro- and macro-confidence, where her own confidence came from and how you can build yours. “It’s OK to let fear get in the car, but don’t let that sucker take the wheel.” - Nada Lena In this Episode of The Sigrun Show:
How to Build Your Confidence when Growing Your Business Having confidence as an online entrepreneur can be crucial to your success. Confidence can make you more motivated and ambitious, but more importantly, it can help you overcome fear and anxiety so you can take action. This week, I spoke to Nada Lena, founder and CEO of Rise Up For You, about how you can build your confidence so it doesn’t stand in the way of you growing your business. Nada proposed three steps that can help you boost your confidence. Self-Awareness Understand your own resistance. Are you taking the actions needed to reach your goal, and if not, why? Many online entrepreneurs spend lots of time coming up with strategies and ideas, but never implement them. Whether you’re not using video, not investing in yourself, or aren’t following up with your sales – get to the core of why you’re not taking action. Nada says that our thoughts and feelings drive our behaviour. Understanding them is the first step in order to change our behaviour from being passive to taking action. Self-Compassion When online entrepreneurs start putting themselves out there, fear of failure is often right around the corner. Many of us struggle with perfectionist mindsets – we are scared of making a mistake. This fear can be paralysing and lead us to simply stop doing things. The reality is: Everyone fails at some point. It’s part of being successful and building a business. What you should be doing is recognise and remember that you’re a human being, not a robot. Jump in, and if you make a mistake, it doesn’t matter. You’re human. You’ll learn from it. And then you can get up and try again. Self-Management Every person on the planet has negative thoughts at some point. The key is how you decide to manage these thoughts. As Nada puts it: It’s ok to let fear into the car, but don’t let that sucker take the wheel. Because the second it does, it will drive you into a wall or go off in a direction you don’t want. Take control over what you know is right, and the action you should be taking. Nada says that most of the beliefs and thoughts in our mind don’t actually belong to us. They belong to other people who have projected them onto us. As human beings, we accept them, and can end up behaving according to these beliefs that aren’t even ours. That’s why when you want to be successful, it’s so important to be aware of what is stopping you, be compassionate with yourself when you make a mistake, and understand how to manage negative thoughts. What do you do to boost your confidence? I’d love to hear your thoughts! You can connect with me on Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn. 17 Oct 2017 | Self-Sabotage is Real. Are You Sabotaging Your Success? | 00:12:03
What are self-sabotaging behaviors? According to many psychology experts, sabotaging behaviors are those that create problems and interfere with your ability to achieve your long-standing goals. For many business owners, self-sabotaging behavior often manifests as procrastination and blaming others.
I discuss the various ways that many entrepreneurs sabotage their success. I share some of the excuses we use to place the blame of our lack of success on others and how to identify - and overcome - self-sabotaging behaviors.
“When you self-sabotage, you are confirming to yourself what you already believed was true.” - Sigrun

29 Aug 2017 | From Zero to 6 Figures in 12 Months - My First Year in Online Business | 00:32:16
Growing a business from the ground up is no easy task. There’s a lot to learn, a lot to plan and a lot to do to make it work. My first year in online business was 2014. I had been writing blog posts about how entrepreneurs can find their passion and find the right business idea. Then I realized I needed to create a freebie, figure out a way to drive more traffic to my blog posts to grow my email list, and - of course - find new clients. In this episode, I share how I built a successful online business, the lessons I learned about creating freebies and growing an email list, and how my business went from zero to six figures in 12 short months. “No matter how great online business can be, nothing trumps meeting people face to face.” - Sigrun

06 Nov 2017 | Insights from an Abraham-Hicks Cruise in Alaska | 00:24:58
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to go on a cruise? I used to think that only old people go on a cruise - older adults who like to stay in one place while the ship takes them on a trip around the different parts of the world. Not knowing what to expect when I went on an Abraham-Hicks Cruise in Alaska, I am thankful that I accepted the invitation and am now a big fan of cruising. I share my experience from when I went on an Abraham Hicks Cruise a few years back. I talk about why I’m so fascinated with the business model of cruise ships and how they continue to create revenue while on the sea. I also explain how the Abraham-Hicks seminar works and share what I learned from the seminar’s fantastic life coach, Esther Hicks.

In this episode, I share the behind-the-scenes events and steps I took before I achieved a $450,000 launch. I walk you through my launching experience, explain the difference between properly launching and simply promoting, and share lessons you can learn from my experience to help you achieve a six figure launch.

06 Jan 2021 | Work with Your Dream Clients Regardless of Language, Location or List Size with Prerna and Mayank Malik | 00:30:56
There comes a time in your business when you’re able to choose who you work with. Maybe you’ve already identified who your dream client is. But what can you do when that dream client seems far beyond your reach? How do you convince someone who’s more known than you to trust in your services?
Prerna and Mayank Malik, my guests this week on the Sigrun Show, have been offering their copywriting services to their dream clients for years and have managed to work with some of the biggest names in the industry.
I met Prerna in 2013. Back then, she was offering social media management and digital media services for small business owners together with her husband Mayank. English isn’t their first language, but already back then they were working with clients in the US, Canada and Australia.
When more and more clients asked them to write their sales copy for landing pages and emails, Prerna joined copywriting courses and a mastermind to be able to offer their clients this service.
Today, they pivoted entirely from social media management to offering conversion copywriting and launch strategies for online course creators, and their business is thriving.
In this episode, Prerna and Malik share how they used warm email pitches to get clients, how you can land clients from all over the world, and how you can get out of the 1-1 hamster wheel.
Are you ready to go after your dream clients? Then tune in for some helpful strategies and advice!
“Warm email pitches were our number one marketing strategy and helped us get our first clients.” - Prerna Malik
In this Episode of The Sigrun Show:
Want to dive deeper? Learn how to connect with your dream client through storytelling or how to get clear on your ideal client.
How to Land Dream Clients Sometimes your dream clients seem far out of reach - especially if you have an international business and want to enter the market of other countries. While building their copywriting business, Prerna and Mayank came up with strategies on how they could reach their dream clients and start working with people all around the world. Here’s what worked for them:
Step 1 Start with prepared pitches. Learn about the business of the person you’re reaching out to. How can you bring value to it? Invest your time in understanding what goes on in your dream client’s business. In your pitch, come up with a specific way your service can help. Don’t fear to reach out and don’t be insulted if there’s no reply.
Step 2 The best in the industry more often than not want to work with the best in the industry, so you need to be good at what you do. This means continuously investing in your skills so that you can bring more value to the table. The confidence this gives you will become visible to your dream client.
Step 3 The connection you forge with your dream clients should be genuine and built over time. Don’t just connect and immediately pitch your service. Respect them for what they do and the skills they have. Maybe even join their network - it gives them a chance to get interested in what you’re doing and see your success. As soon as you feel you can add value to their business, pitch your services.
How do you connect with your dream clients? I’d love to know! You can follow, connect and share with me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

14 Jul 2021 | How to Reach for Excellence with Juliet Ehimuan | 00:27:34
Have you ever looked at the achievements of others and thought: If only I could do that, too? Here’s a simple truth: Successful people aren’t naturally excellent at what they do — they work to be that way. Excellence is a way of life. This week, I had a very interesting chat with Juliet Ehimuan about excellence. Juliet leads Google’s business strategy in West Africa, is an Executive Leadership Coach and member of the Forbes Coaches Council. Forbes named her one of the top 20 power women in Africa, and London Business School “one of 30 people changing the world”. She has received numerous awards for her outstanding contribution to the digital landscape in Africa.
In short, Juliet truly knows how to reach for excellence, and in this episode of The Sigrun Show, she’s going to tell you how you can become the best version of yourself and reach for excellence, too. In this Episode of The Sigrun Show:
How to Reach for Excellence Have you ever wished that you could earn more money, make more friends, have better health, reach a higher level of success? Achieve excellence at whatever you do? Here’s a simple truth: Successful people aren’t naturally excellent at what they do — they work to be that way. In a very inspiring chat with Juliet Ehimuan, we spoke about how to reach for excellence. Juliet leads Google’s business strategy in West Africa, is a member of the Forbes Coaches Council, and has received numerous awards for her outstanding contribution to the digital landscape in Africa. Forbes named her one of the top 20 power women in Africa, and London Business School “one of 30 people changing the world”. In other words, Juliet knows how to reach for excellence. According to her, excellence is a way of being. You decide to make it your north star. She shared her top 5 tips on how you can become the best version of yourself with me: #1 Clarity of purpose Juliet says that the best way to influence the future is to create it. Life isn’t a series of random events. It’s important to be deliberate and to know where you’re going. If you’re not clear on what your destination is, you’re not going to go very far. Being clear on your purpose energises and fuels you. #2 Clarity of vision There’s more to life than your job, and your purpose might go beyond your work. Think of the areas in your life that matter the most. Create a picture of what is most important to you. What are your aspirations, your desires? Juliet says to never let yourself be limited by the HOW, because it stops you from dreaming. Focus on the WHAT. What is the thing that calls and inspires you?
#3 Robust plan of execution A vision without a plan is wishful thinking. Think about what is strategic and tangible. Create a concrete plan and structure that moves you from where you are to where you want to be. #4 Mobilisation The key to mobilise yourself lies in your belief-system. Limiting beliefs keep you back, while empowering beliefs lift you up. Be aware that there are facts, and there are the stories around the facts that you tell yourself. That’s where your beliefs come from. If a limiting belief holds you back, question the story you created around it, and create a new, empowering belief. #5 Time Everyone’s day is 24 hours long. You can’t change that. But you can prioritise. Spend your time on things that move you closer to your vision. When you’re very clear about your vision, it makes it easier for you to decide what’s important and what isn’t. Start spending your energy in a way that serves you. Did these tips inspire you to reach for excellence? I’d love to hear your thoughts! You can connect with me on Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn. Connect with Juliet

29 Apr 2020 | Stepping Up as a True Leader in Times of Crisis with Kirsten Stendevad | 00:39:10
Do you see yourself as a leader?
We have definitely seen leaders emerge lately. Some heads of state are handling this crisis in a remarkable way, showing their human side. Others run around like headless chickens. What can you do as an entrepreneur to step up as a leader?
Kirsten Stendevad will tell you. I met her shortly before one of my SOMBA launches when one of my team members introduced us, and true to my nature of creating projects fast and messy, she became one of my affiliates just days before the launch.
Kirsten has spent half her life outside her native Denmark, reporting to Scandinavian media how to create businesses and lives that don’t require the hard price a lot of people are paying. When she came back to Denmark, she started writing books and looked for role models for feminine power.
She was at the height of her career and about to launch her feminine leadership training internationally when she was hit by a tragedy.
She discovered that her six year old son had a tumor. The cancer turned out to be highly aggressive and not curable, and she lost her son.
Kirsten didn’t give up because she wanted her other children to believe that there are happy endings. She decided to go up instead of down and looking back, says: “I had to continue - I’m an entrepreneur.” She published her book “The Future is Feminine”, which will come out in English in January 2021, and started specializing in 21st century leadership.
Today, Kirsten is a popular speaker and has published seven books. In this episode of the Sigrun Show, she shares what true leadership means and how going through a personal crisis has helped her prepare for the challenges that lie ahead.
If you want to know what you can do to align your business with your purpose and become a true leader, this episode is for you.
“We live in a transparent world. If you don’t do what you say it will be very obvious. Eat your own medicine. That’s how you become a lighthouse.” - Kirsten Stendevad

20 Dec 2022 | [Best of] From Unemployable to a Selfmade Millionaire | 01:05:22
It’s going to be very hard for you to find a job. These were the words of my advisor when I went to the unemployment office after having been fired twice in a short period of time. I kept applying for positions I thought were a perfect fit but never got a reply. My hopes were down. I was also still feeling the pain from my chronic illness, and the thought of working a full-time job scared me. When I read that the unemployment office helps people start their own business, I saw it as my chance. I quickly created a business plan for selling Icelandic design online and did a three week start up course where I learned all the basics of setting up a business in Switzerland. But when I ended the course, I started doubting my own idea. Seven years have passed since then, and (spoiler!) I haven’t gone on to build an Icelandic design trading empire. I have done something better: I found my passion, entered my zone of genius and become a top female business coach. In this episode of the Sigrun Show, I share how I finally found my calling and started scaling my business to multiple seven figures, and the roadblocks and successes I experienced along the way. This is my story of how I went from unemployed to a selfmade millionaire. With this episode, I want to inspire you to think bigger and take action. Make your dream come true. “The beginning years are the most important ones: that’s where a business is born.”- Sigrun
What you will get out of this episode:
Do you want more inspiration for building your online business? Find out how I got from zero to six figures in 12 months and avoid making any mistakes by reading the top 10 reasons why most online businesses fail.
How to Build an Online Business (and Scale It the Right Way)I was making a good living doing one on one coaching, but I always knew that if I wanted to take my online business to the next level, I had to start scaling it. From my times as a CEO, I remembered that the only way to grow a business was to hire more people. I swore to myself that if I ever started my own business, I wouldn’t want its growth to be dependent on the number of employees. I wanted the business itself to be scalable.
At the time, I had no idea that my own business would make multiple 7 figures one day. My goal had been to get to 6 figures and in March 2015, I reached that goal, exactly 12 months after my first sale. It was a huge milestone, but I knew that I had to take the next step. Constantly raising my prices or taking on more clients wasn’t going to be sustainable. What I had to do is scale, and here is how I did it:
I had been thinking about group coaching for a while and got this idea that I wanted to prove that I can sell in July, in the middle of the summer, when most coaches feel it’s not a good time to sell. I came up with an idea for a coaching program, created a sales page, did some seeding in my free Facebook group and ended up selling 6 spots, two times. It opened my eyes: I was able to scale!
I started selling multiple group coaching programs and made them longer, first 8 weeks and then 3 months, and called them masterminds. There was no need to create tons of content, because the groups were about helping people with whatever was going on in their business at the time. I focused on coaching in the moment.
I realised that I could have more than 6 people in my groups and launched a 9 month mastermind group with 10 people. But I wanted to go further. I thought about how much time I really spend per person and decided that I could launch a new group with 18 people and still offer the same value to them. These same people went on to stay with me for years. At this point, my group programs were generating more revenue than my one on one coaching and I decided to only keep on a few selected people as my one on one clients.
I started gearing up for a massive launch of my group coaching programs. My idea was to do multiple groups of 18 people on different levels, depending on where they were at in their businesses. The further along people were, the less people would be in the group so I could assure them enough time with me.
When I sold out 4 group coaching programs, I told my business coach very proudly that I just had my biggest launch ever. This is what he said to me: And you have nothing else to sell now? His words were a turning point for me, because they made me come up with the idea for SOMBA - Sigrun’s Online MBA, a new one year program where I would teach women (and a few men) everything they need to know about online business. I’ve been running SOMBA for 3 years now, increased the price from $1000 to $3000 and my launches have grown from $50k to $575k.
My coach’s comment was crucial for me. I thought I was scaling my business with group programs, but to really reach the next level, you have to have an online course or program where you can have as many people as you want in it, without having to spend extra resources. In 2017, I finally created that course which is now my signature program, and it’s a fantastic feeling.
