23 Mar 2020 | S3 E8: Tips for working from home | 00:11:27
So for today's podcast, I had actually planned to share an episode about Times I've Turned Down Money in my business. But with things the way they are in the world at the moment, with an economic downturn and small business owners already struggling to keep afloat amid the coronavirus panic, I just didn't feel that it made sense to post that right now. So instead, I thought it would be more relevant to share my tips for working from home, as I know so many people are now being forced to do this due to self isolating and potential lockdowns depending on where you are in the world. I hope that if you're being forced to work from home right now, you can find these tips useful, but most of all, stay sane and stay safe! x How I experienced the transition to working from home (01:31) “Self-motivation is definitely a skill that you develop over time” (02:29) Why establishing a daily work routine is important, and what mine typically looks like (03:23) One of the best ways to get out of bed and avoid the temptation of a lie in! (05:34) How to stay focused and be more productive during the day (06:22) Tips to avoid work blending in with your free time to ensure a better work-life balance (06:58) Why a dedicated workspace or home office will do wonders for your focus and productivity (07:48) The importance of setting boundaries when working from home (08:43) Different ways to socialise and tap into your support network from home (10:15)
16 Mar 2020 | S3 E7: Should you separate business from personal? Or split in two for your audiences? | 00:28:55

Both Olivia and I come at this from different perspectives; Olivia has one Instagram account for her business and personal content, but has a strong boundary of what personal stuff to share. Whereas I have two Instagram accounts and go more personal on my personal one... We discuss this, plus whether you should split out your business if you have two different target audiences too.
09 Mar 2020 | S3 E6: What if you fall out of love with your business? | 00:10:22
Have you ever fallen out of love with your business? It sounds dramatic, but this happened to me. And while you may not be able to relate quite to that extent, I have a feeling you have probably at some point in your business experienced the feeling of being in some kind of rut or slump. It happens - but does it mean we have to scrap everything and start completely over again? Not always. In this episode, I'm sharing my experience with losing the passion for my business a few years ago, and my tips for if this happens to you too.
02 Mar 2020 | S3 E5: Increasing customer spend & 'upselling' | 00:10:52
We all want to make more money in our businesses, but 'getting more customers' as we all know, is easier said than done! It takes huge amounts of effort and testing different marketing strategies to get new customers and through the door, and sometimes even if we are getting the clients, there's a limit to how many more we can physically take on and say yes to, especially when starting small and a solo business owner. But there is an easier way; a way to make more money but from the same amount if not fewer customers. Increase the average spend per customer, and get more VALUE per sale. This week I’m joined by fashion photographer, Olivia Bossert (my best friend & business buddy), and we discuss our thoughts on ‘working for free’ and ‘discounting’ as freelancers. Questions we discuss include: -Have you ever done work for free and it hasn't worked out or you've felt negatively about it? -Have you ever asked anyone else to work for free? -Is there really a difference between working for free vs working for less than you're worth? (same sense of resentment?) -What are your thoughts on discounting? Have you ever done it? Should you do it?

12 Aug 2019 | S2 E5: Morning & evening routines (improve your productivity with better sleep) | 00:15:05
It sounds dramatic, but during sleep our bodies and brains restore themselves, and if they're not able to do that properly, a whole range of issues can occur such as... Mood swings / anxiety / depression Microsleeping (where you fall asleep without realising - extremely dangerous if you are driving!) Your immune system won't have time to rebuild which will leave you vulnerable to more illness It is easier to become overweight as your hunger/fullness hormones are affected by sleep Higher risk of Type 2 Diabetes due to higher levels of insulin in sleep depravation Cardiovascular and blood pressure risks Scary, right? As you can see, lack of sleep isn't just a productivity issue. Yes, sleep depravation will reduce your functions and make you far less productive, and have a negative effect on your work, but for some reason this isn't enough reason for many people to treat it seriously! In this podcast I'm sharing my best tips for a relaxing night time routine and high quality sleep.
06 Aug 2019 | S2 E4: Understanding personality types (Myers Briggs & Enneagrams) | 00:15:59
When you discover what your personality type is, you can get a better idea of your natural strengths and weaknesses, and how your personality affects the way you work. Once you realise that actually you’re someone who naturally prefers a flexible, less-structured routine, for example, then you can change the way you were to better suit your strengths. Or if you’re finding that you’re more introverted than you thought and you’re ending up exhausted at the end of the day, perhaps you could try working from home rather than being in an open plan shared space? Meanwhile with your Enneagram, it’s very much about what you’re motivated by, which can help you understand how to be more productive and what’s going to be the driver behind what you do. For me, I know I’m not motivated by power, or perfectionism, for example - what motivates me is maintaining my inner calm and leading a joyful life - which means I always analyse any opportunities to make sure that this will fit with my goals. In this episode, I'll be discusses both tests and how you can use this understanding in your business.

So many people end up writing up a lengthy essay about their childhood and biography, slap it up on their About page with a vaguely relevant image and call it a day. But the honest truth is that no one will read ever read all that. In this episode I'm sharing my best tips from working with many freelancers over the years on their websites, to create the perfect About page! Interested in doing an audit of your website? 04 Feb 2019 | S1 E3: Target Customer Profiling - Get to Know Who You're Serving! | 00:15:23
There’s a reason why ‘understanding your target customer’ is the first step in pretty much any business or marketing related activity. Did you know that in some countries, businesses are required to submit a customer profile in order to register as a legal company? Yeah, that's how important it is. WHY IS CUSTOMER PROFILING SO IMPORTANT? Without understanding who your customer is, it’s nearly impossible to communicate your business and market your products and services. Hello and welcome to The Freelance Fix! In this episode I am taking the opportunity to properly introduce myself and explain a little about my background and 'freelance story'. I’ve always been interested in creating my own business. Even age 10 in Primary School I was trying to start a ‘playground’ biz selling my keyring making services to my friends. When I quit my uni course in Hospitality, I thought I wanted to work in Marketing, but I soon realised I was truly passionate about working for myself. I left my job doing marketing for a software company back in 2016, and since then have been steadily growing my website and brand design business to a place where I have a really well-balanced lifestyle that I love. This is what I talk about in more detail in this podcast episode. Thank you so much for taking the time to listen to my first ever experience of podcasting. It's a little daunting but I'm really excited to be publishing regular episodes over the next few months. Stick around for more on the topics of marketing, branding, design, productivity and freelancing!
