11 Apr 2019#220: Laura Crane on Eating Disorders, Love Island and When To Just Say “F*ck It”! 01:01:51

Laura Crane is a professional surfer, model and 2018 Love Island contestant.

On top of putting out amazing content around her workouts on her social media channels (which I highly recommend checking out), her surf videos and photos are second to none!

This episode is an absolute belter! On top of talking all things health, fitness, and mindset, we also go into Laura’s history with an eating disorder, her experience on Love Island, 11 days in the hospital with sepsis and leaving school at 15 to pursue her dream of becoming a professional surfer. I freaking loved this one! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

28 Apr 2025#534: Rehab Fix’s Dr. Grant Elliott on Revolutionizing Back Pain Treatment, How To Fix Sciatica and The Role of Psychology in Back Pain Recovery!00:52:53

Dr. Elliott (Rehab Fix) is one of the world’s leading experts on sciatica and back pain treatment.

With over 930k followers on Instagram and a YouTube channel of over 618k subscribers, his content helps those who are frustrated by outdated advice and unnecessary treatments.

He stands out in the world of chiropractic care—not only as the visionary behind the #1 online low-back program but also as the advocate who challenges the notion that you need a doctor to heal your back.

As a former competitive athlete, Grant's career was derailed by persistent back pain and ineffective treatment. Determined to find a better way, he turned his struggles into a mission, combining his medical expertise with innovative strategies to challenge the flawed “sick care” system.

Today, his program has impacted lives across the globe, demonstrating that your spine is resilient, your body is capable, and recovery is entirely within your reach.

Here are some of the things we talked about in today’s show:

·      The notion that back pain requires medication and rest is false.

·      Fear of movement can lead to chronic pain and disability.

·      Gradual exposure to movement is essential for recovery.

Perfect posture is not necessary; movement is more important.

·      Back pain is influenced by multiple factors, including emotional and social aspects. A holistic approach to back pain considers emotional and psychological factors.

·      Understanding the correlation between stress and physical pain is crucial.

·      Sciatica is often misunderstood as just leg pain, but it originates from the back.

·      Stretching a sensitive nerve can worsen sciatica symptoms.

·      Individualized treatment plans are essential for effective pain management.

·      There is no one-size-fits-all solution for sciatica; each case is unique.

·      Movement is vital for spinal health and pain relief.

·      Pain does not always indicate tissue damage; understanding this can change perceptions.

·      Back cracking is generally harmless and can be done if it feels good.

20 Oct 2017#109 The 5 Questions Everyone Should Ask Themselves At Least Once In Their Life!00:28:05

Tony Robbins regular says ‘ask better questions if you want better answers’ – these are 5 questions that I still ask myself at least once a week when things are feeling particularly hard or difficult.

This is one of these rare episodes (alongside ‘how to find your life purpose’ and ‘the tips I would give my 18 year old self’) that I would have given anything to hear five years ago. I hope it helps you as much as it helped me re-listening to it.

1.     What would I do for free?
My version of success is waking up every morning knowing that if I won the lotto, Id still does what I’m doing now. What would you do for free? Build your life around that.

2.     What does my perfect day look like?

Who are you spending the day with, what are you doing and why is it perfect? Find the things that make you happy, do more of it, find the things (and people) that make you unhappy, do less of it.

3.     What would this look like if it were easy?
I more than anyone have to deal with ‘superman syndrome’ where I think I can do it all and bite off more than I can chew, which normally just leads to stress and anxiety. This is my ‘go to’ question when feeling overwhelmed or anxious.

4.     Who am I doing it for?
The how means nothing until you find your why. The days you’re tired, struggling and don’t know if you can continue, ask yourself, who is it for?

5.     What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?
As soon as I start to get in my own head and start thinking about what could go wrong, I ask myself this one question and it opens everything else up. If you feel your own biggest enemy lives between your two ears, then ask yourself this questions every time you feel you can’t do something.

18 Sep 2023#451: Athlete and Entrepreneur Rob Lipsett on Where Motivation Comes From, Getting Out Of Your Comfort Zone and The Importance Of Choosing The Right Spouse! 00:52:16

Rob Lipsett is an athlete, physique competitor, youtuber and entrepreneur.

Most of you will know Rob, either from following his massive YouTube channel of over 470k followers and his Instagram page with over 650k followers, but this is also his hat trick appearance on the podcast.

On top of running, owning and being a part of several businesses, he is also the host of the podcast The Game Plan (named after his best-selling book) , which can be found everywhere podcasts are found.

Rob is always brilliant to speak with and I think this third episode is the best yet.

11 Jun 2018#157: 12 Life Experiments That Stuck!01:05:19

Personally, I’m always trying to optimize things in my life to get more done, have more impact and be more effective and happier in general. I break my life into four quadrants (Health, Wealth, Love and Fulfillment) and score them out of 10 every month. These experiments are all ones that have ‘stuck’ and that I’ve doubled down on to improve on the areas of life that are important to me so hopefully, this episode helps you determine what’s really important to you and what experiments can help you get to those goals quicker.

1   Getting up an hour earlier (start with 15 minutes earlier) 20:41

2   Not checking social media first thing in the morning 25:05

3   Getting ‘R.E.M.’ based sleep 28:18

4   Doing finishers instead of ‘boring’ cardio 31:43

5   Turn your car into a library on wheels (audiobooks) 37:02

6   Digital detox every Sunday 45:11

7   Emails, Whatsapp or ‘100 times a day tasks’ at designated times only 47:00

8   Reducing blue light in the evening to help with better sleep 48:11

9   Cutting all caffeine three days every week (this is hard!) 49:51

10 Seeing money and time as wasting, spending or investing (paying for value, not price) 52:21

11  Working only at optimal times – being productive vs. being busy 56:08

12  Writing down goals or things that are bothering me to reduce anxiety 59:40

06 May 2022FROM THE VAULT: 10 Life Lessons I Learnt Running Through The  Sahara And The Arctic!  01:07:34

This episode first aired 10 Jun 2019
Want to get my weekly newsletter?
https://briankeanefitness.com/newsletter/

Today’s episode focuses heavily on the mindset side of things. It’s
been three months since I ran through the Arctic and just over a year
since I ran six back to back marathons in the Sahara Desert. Both of
those challenges thought me so much about how to be in other areas
of my life. My personal relationships, my business, and my happiness
levels are the best they’ve ever been and I put nearly all of it down to
the 10 lessons I’ve learned below so I wanted to share them. This is
another ‘press record and talk’ video so I hope you enjoy it.
1.You need to break big goals into smaller parts
2.Pain is temporary and it will go away
3.You need to build the mental strength slowly every day
4.All limitations are self-created
5.Your own worst enemy lives between your two ears

6.You can’t do things for other people, it needs to be for you and
you alone
7.People put what you do on a pedestal and they shouldn’t!
8.If you fail to prepare. Prepare to fail.
9.You can’t give yourself the option to quit or you will take it!
10.See it, believe it, achieve. Become who you need to be, act
like that and wait for reality to catch up.

14 Jul 2017BKF Ep 81: The 5 Life Tips I Would Give My 18 Year Old Self 00:30:55
Whether you’re 17, 28 or 45, these are still some of the life tips that I live my entire life by so hopefully they help.

1)    Don’t ever let somebody tell you that you can’t do something (someone’s opinion of you does NOT have to become your reality
2)    Remember you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with
3)    Be careful of what thoughts you allow into your mind
4)    You are better to be at the bottom of the ladder against the right wall than near the top of the ladder against the wrong wall
5)    The greatest tragedy in life is meeting the person you could have become

I put up a question box for this episode on my Instagram last week; and I thought it would be all weight loss or diet related questions; but I was pleasantly surprised at the range of questions for this new year Q+A. Hopefully you enjoy it as we cover some previously unexplored topics.

  3. What are your goals or new year resolutions for 2023? 24:51
  4. What advice do you have for someone who struggles with low self-esteem? 30:31

Key Points

· Most people know that what we put into our system has a direct effect on our health. That said, the general public has accepted as healthy certain foods that actually have negative effects on your body. Oats are a great source of carbohydrates, reduce anxiety, and promote sleep; but at the same time oats are proinflammatory because they contain what are known as phytates. Then there is soy, which contains phytoestrogens that may adversely affect hormones. Unless your soy is organic, non-GMO, and fermented, Orla advises keeping it out of your diet.

· Before looking at how to boost your sex drive, the first thing to ask yourself is why your sex drive is low in the first place. For women, predominantly, there is an issue with their estrogen and testosterone—their estrogen levels may not be rising optimally, and their testosterone isn’t being activated. Women on the pill will automatically have a lower sex drive. For men, especially those over 45, low sex drive is usually due to low testosterone levels. Men under 45 with low sex drive, on the other hand, may be experiencing psychological issues.

· Stress is not only one of the biggest culprits when it comes to fertility issues, but it makes the sex act itself robotic. “My first thing is to get women to stop trying,” says Orla. In addition, beware “The Two-Week Wait” following ovulation when a woman

waits to see whether they are pregnant. Those two weeks may turn into two months or two years, which only serves to compound their stress levels.

19 Mar 2018#139: Burn More Calories with Slower Reps, My Favorite Exercises and How Competing (Bikini or Bodybuilding) Can Lead To Body Dysphoria and Make You Obsessed!00:58:41

  • Do you burn more calories by carrying out your reps slowly or fast? Or does it even matter?  01:04
  • On a time under tension lift, do you stop before the top of the movement? I don’t know if the muscles are under tension or if it's just lactic acid? 11:26
  • How much weight should I be squatting weight wise? 20:12
  • When dieting, at what stage should you take green tea extract – or should you always supplement it? 26:12
  • What is your favourite ever exercise? 32:17
  • How can I stay motivated when starting a new plan? 35:35
  • From your competing days, did you find that it pulled you into an obsession? It seems to be so focused but all I think about is macros, training etc? 43:45

09 Jun 2017BKF Ep 71: How Can I Find Out What I Should Do With My Life (The Episode I Needed 5 Years Ago)00:27:08
I did a similar episode about finding your life purpose a few months ago so I’m I’m going to spend this episode talking about the four quadrants that I use personally (Health, Wealth, Love and Fulfilment) that help me make nearly every decision in my life. Hopefully it provides with you so much value as this was the episode I needed to hear 5 years ago.
.

1)    What did you want to do at 14 years of age? (Science shows your brain reaches its peak around this age).
2)    What did you grow up around? (How to combine nature and nurture, whether good or bad)
3)    What do people complement you on regularly or tell you’re good at?
4)    What have you spent the last 5, 10 or 15 years doing? How to use what you’ve been through (good and bad) to propel you forward
5)    What do you talk about effortlessly on a Friday or Saturday night? (Side note: Do that!!)

“Make your life a sculpture and a not a lottery ticket, every day you chip away and step by step you get ahead”

You don’t wake up randomly one day and you’re in great shape
You don’t wake up randomly one day and your bank account is full
You don’t wake up randomly one day and you’re lying next to the love of your life
You don’t wake up randomly one day and feel fulfilled with your whole life

“Step by step you get ahead, but not necessarily fast spurts” – Charlie Munger

12 May 2023FROM THE VAULT: Mabel Katz on Self-Sabotage, Dealing with Negative Thoughts and Getting Back To Zero Frequency! 00:49:29

This episode first aired 30 November 2020
14 Days Of Fat Loss Free Guide
https://briankeanefitness.com/quick-links/

In this episode, Brian speaks with Mabel Katz, a speaker, author, and seminar leader who is internationally acclaimed and recognized as the main authority on Ho’oponopono, an ancient
Hawaiian art to obtain greater clarity in order to better achieve objectives to live and work effectively.

Mabel is the world’s number one Hispanic speaker, with over 200,000 subscribers on YouTube, more than 783,000 followers on Facebook, and more than 122,000 followers on Instagram.
Her ability to radically change people’s lives through her system of getting them back to Zero Frequency has garnered this global adulation.
Zero Frequency is the state of erasing all of the self-sabotaging beliefs, memories, negative thoughts, worries and dissonant emotions that interfere with living from the state of complete presence, total inspiration and peace.
Mabel has brought her formula to the world in her new book Zero Frequency®, The Easiest Way
to Peace, Happiness and Abundance which we dive into during today’s podcast.
Listen is as Mabel discusses how to overcome fear and do it anyway, the link between
expectations and unhappiness, why accepting yourself is the key to disconnecting with the
opinions of others, why you need to forgive others if you want to find true peace, why thinking
is an addiction and the power of being present, and getting yourself back to the baseline of zero
frequency.
Episode outline
Mabel’s background and what brought her down her current path
What is “zero frequency”?
Why we all have that voice in our heads that tells us we’re not good enough
Fighting past fear to do it anyway
Bringing our subconscious programming to the forefront

 Letting go of expectations
Changing the trajectory of your life today by accepting yourself and listening to your
heart
The most common way people self-sabotage
 Why we struggle to forgive
Freeing ourselves from the comparison trap
 Practicing abundance
Key points
The idea behind zero frequency is to avoid reacting to whatever challenges life throws at
you. You will always have problems. That is what life is all about. We are here to learn
and become better people. The problem is not the problem itself, but your reaction to
the problem. As human beings, it is okay to be bothered, but by going right back to the
baseline of zero frequency right away, we can nip negativity in the bud. With zero
frequency, we can examine any event objectively through a neutral lens that allows us to
shed any semblance of victim mentality and proceed in a proactive manner.
Zero frequency is about living a more conscious life and understanding what is in the
moment, right now. Whenever you experience fear, realize that these emotions are
being triggered by past events that may or may not have anything to do with what is
happening right now. However you decide to act, the very first thing to do is to not allow
your subconscious to dictate your next step for you, and take back control.
The only place you can find true freedom, happiness, and peace is within yourself. Do
not depend on anything or anybody else to be happy. By being at peace with yourself,
you become a magnet for those opportunities that are perfect for you. We have the
power within ourselves to manifest whatever is truly important to us, so we do ourselves
a disservice to look for that power in other things or other people. Make the decision
today to accept yourself, no matter your perception of your present circumstances. Your
life will instantly transform for the better.
15 Jun 2017BKF Ep 73: Real Talk: Steroids, Competing, Fat Burners, Social Media Following and Body Dysmorphia.00:24:58
This a little bit more ‘real talk’ than other episodes. I’m more or less speaking to the 22 year old me who would have traded everything to look like a pro fitness model, become a sponsored athlete and have a social media following.

In 2015, I got all that and had to deal with the ‘real’ fitness industry and my own issues with body dysmorphia that came with it. This is a pretty real and candid episode and even though there are so many worse things in the world than dealing with the way you look, it’s all-relative. So for anyone who looks at the fitness people on social media with hundreds of thousands of followers or the top fitness guys or bikini girls who compete and wonder why you don’t look that way, then hopefully this gives you a bit more of an inside view from someone who lived it.

  2. Comparison is a never-ending hamster wheel and it will spin out of control if you let it. 13:09

  3. If you’re tired, learn to rest, not to quit. 28:55

  4. If your reaction is hysterical, it's possibly historical. 36:54

  5. What’s meant for you won’t pass you (even if it doesn’t feel like that at the time) and what didn’t work out, possibly did if you give it enough time. 44:11

16 Jun 2023Chris Williamson on Getting Over The Fear of Criticism, Making Sure Your Friends DON’T Suck  and The “I’ll Be Happy When” Fallacy! (From The 2021 Archive)00:52:01

This Episode first aired on 25th January 2021.
Are you enjoying the podcast? Please leave a rating and a review.
Chris is the host of the Modern Wisdom podcast, owns an events company in the UK and is a life coach who specialises in helping people to get more out of life.
His platforms talk about how to live a good life, finding your purpose, maximising human
performance, productivity, fitness and psychology.
His passion lies in learning about himself and the world around him. Today’s episode was a very
enjoyable conversation that focuses heavy on the mindset side of things.
Key Points
Finding your purpose, quite obviously, is not an overnight process. Many find it elusive and
don’t even know where to start. Chris gives us the very first step in uncovering your purpose,
and that’s by asking yourself: “Do I look forward to getting out of bed every morning?” If not,
you’re probably heading in the wrong direction. Seek out other voices, whether in
podcast/video form (i.e. Jordan Peterson) or face-to-face support. Once you can easily answer
the question, “What do I want to want?” (writing down your ideal life is an excellent practice),
you’re on your way.
When it comes to choosing your circle of friends, given the choice between honesty and
acceptability, you need to choose honesty. As social creatures, we naturally desire to be
accepted in our group, even if we have to put on a persona—or at least restrict what we say or
who we are—just to maintain our place in the circle. As quickly as possible, find a way to cut out
those “friends” that make your life actively worse and find new ones with whom you can truly
be yourself so that you get empowered to become the person you really desire to be.
Don’t focus solely on the goals you want to achieve because most people will burn out or lose
interest along the way, especially if it’s a long-term goal. Instead, set a goal and define it well,
then immediately put your energy into the day-to-day, week-to-week process that will get you
to that goal. “Your outcomes in life,” says Chris, “are a lagging measure of your daily habits.”
This applies to every aspect of life, from fitness to finances to education. Detach your sense of
being from the achievement of the goal and find fulfilment in the journey.

22 Jan 2024#469: Dr Bradley Nelson on Emotional Eating, The Different Types Of Trauma and How Trapped Emotions Get Stored In The Body! 00:47:29

Dr Bradley Nelson is a Veteran Holistic Physician and Bestselling Author of The Emotion Code: How to Release Your Trapped Emotions for Abundant Health, Love, and Happiness!

Over his decades of work, he has discerned that most of the physical discomfort and emotional distress his patients suffered was rooted in trapped emotions—the unseen emotional baggage we carry from hurtful life experiences.

His latest book is “The Body Code: Unlocking Your Body's Ability to Heal Itself is based on the simple premise that the body is self-healing and knows what it needs in order to thrive.

“Each time you trap an emotion, you get stuck in the middle of whatever traumatic event you were experiencing - so instead of moving beyond your angry moment, or a temporary bout with grief or depression, you retain this negative emotional energy within your body, potentially causing significant physical and emotional stress” Dr Bradley Nelson

Here are some of the things we talked about in today’s podcast:

  • Emotional eating and weight loss
  • How trapped emotions gets stored in the body
  • Emotional energies and not absorbing people’s energy
  • Dealing with toxic individuals

28 Feb 2025Why Moving a Fitness Business Online Increases Leverage and Revenue Potential (Sharkprenuer Podcast)00:21:14

Here is a bonus business podcast episode.

I was just a guest on Kevin Harrington’s (from Shark Tank) Sharkprenuer Podcast with his awesome co-host Seth Greene (Podcast Direct Response Marketing Expert)!

It was a jam-packed interview and I feel like he did a great job in picking my brain about rewiring your mindset.

On the Podcast, Seth and I talked about A LOT, but here are just a few of the topics we covered:

- How it can be a struggle to market and build awareness for a fitness brand.

- Why moving a fitness business online increases leverage and revenue potential.

- How seeking guidance or mentorship early in your career is vital.

- Why people should learn from other’s mistakes instead of relying on your own experiences.

  • How prioritizing a healthy work-life balance lets you focus on your mental health, family, and personal fitness goals

This is a special bonus episode of the podcast about my upcoming seminar in Dublin on April 20th 2019. I hope you enjoy it.

Location: The Hilton Hotel (beside Dublin airport)
Date: Saturday 20th April 2019
Time: 10am – 5pm

Tickets for Rewire Your Mindset Seminar

Are you looking to Rewire Your Mindset so that you can hit any goal in your fitness, personal or work life? If yes, then this is the seminar for you.

During the full day event, you will learn about the concept of The Four Quadrants (Health, Wealth, Love and Fulfilment) and how rewiring your mindset is critical in making any change in your life.

Here are some of the areas we will be covering on the day.

Building Confidence: using the ‘confidence table’ to hit any goal and how to add legs to that table with small and simple steps.

Designing The ‘Perfect Day’: The days lead into weeks, weeks into months and months into years. When we get the perfect day right, the ‘compound effect’ starts to kick in and difficult things like eating well, training consistently and difficult conversations start to become much easier and automatic.

Goal Setting: There’s a foolproof system for hitting any goal by keeping the end in mind at all times. Once you learn it, you can apply it to all four quadrants.

Dealing with negative people: once you get clear on the action steps needed to improve your four quadrants, you will see how easy it easy to cut (physically or emotionally) from those who pull you backwards. You will also see how to design your inner circle of people who will help you on your journey.

Feeling the fear and doing it anyways: learn the techniques and strategies I used for overcoming my fear of failure, my fear of success and the fear of other peoples opinions.

Habits: tell me what you do every day and I’ll tell you where you’ll be in a year. You will leave the seminar knowing exactly what action steps you need to take in order to hit your end goal and how to stay on course when things get difficult.

Mental health: Use my daily discomfort techniques for overcoming environmental anxiety and depression.

Avoiding self-sabotage: Your biggest enemy lives between your two ears. When we identify why you self sabotage, you will finally be able to get out of your own way and hit any goal that you set for yourself.

If you feel frustrated, unconfident, unsatisfied or unfulfilled in any area of your life, then this seminar is not to be missed! Lets Rewire Your Mindset on the 20th of April 2019.

Here are some of the things we talked about in today’s podcast:

04 Aug 2023Logan Ury on Dating, Attachment Styles, How To Break Up With Someone, Finding Love and How To Build A Relationship That Lasts! (From The 2021 Archive)00:53:45

This episode first aired on 26th April 2021

Are you enjoying the podcast? Please leave a rating and a review.

Logan is a behavioral scientist turned dating coach, and the author of How To Not Die Alone.

As the Director of Relationship Science at the dating app Hinge, she leads a research team dedicated to helping people find love. After studying psychology at Harvard, she ran Google’s behavioral science team—the Irrational Lab.

Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Atlantic, TIME. The Washington Post, GQ, Glamour, Vice, and on HBO and the BBC.

Today’s podcast goes deep on all things dating and relationships. It’s a full-circle podcast from meeting someone to breakups and finding the one—we cover it all today. Also, I touch on some of my personal attachment styles and previous dating tendencies; so, today’s episode goes through some new topics not previously explored on the podcast.

Key Points

· Each of the three dating tendencies have to do with unrealistic expectations. The romanticizer has unrealistic expectations of relationships. The maximizer has unrealistic expectations of their partner. The hesitator has unrealistic expectations of themselves. Unrealistic expectations of any kind create huge problems because, even if things are going great, the person is never satisfied with what they have at present.

· Our society has become obsessed with “the spark”: the idea of instant chemistry, that pang of connection; that feeling when you walk into a room and everything else fades and you can only focus on that person. Now, the spark is a wonderful thing; but you should not be selecting your long-term life partner based on it as it’s nothing more than a first impression. Instead, go for the slow burn and get to know the person beyond first impressions.

· Becoming ready for marriage is a matter of the level of your intentionality. You have to exercise the same muscles that you do to strengthen your growth mindset and goal-orientedness and know how you want your future to look. With regard to marriage itself, ask yourself a series of questions, such as whether you see yourself with your

partner in the long run and how you’ve both weathered conflict. Then, ask your partner questions such as how many kids you want to have, the religion you want to raise them on, and how you want to manage your finances.

09 Sep 2019#242: Ironman, Marathon Des Sables and The Ice Ultra with Simon Halpin01:05:33

Today’s episode is with a very special guest. Simon Halpin is the man who ran Marathon Des Sable alongside me in 2018. He was also with me every step of the way for our 230km run through the Arctic Circle in February of this year.

This is much more of a ‘fly on the wall conversation’ type of episode than a structured interview. On top of talking through Simon’s Ironman triathlon experience, we go back and forth about our experiences in the Sahara and the Arctic. We go through all the highs and lows and our main take away from each adventure. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed recording it.
