04 Aug 2020 | EP 29 Download Festival 2021 | 00:20:34
8 august 09:00 A Download Festival announcement happened some amazing bands are on next year line up, and some amazing bands emerging on the Dog Tooth stage. I honestly cannot wait for next year’s festival, after the sad news that all events this year would be off due to the pandemic, we have all had something taken from us this year and I really hope next year we are back to doing what we love, A massive well done to everyone has re grouped and gone again for next year. A missive well done to Andy Copping and Kamran James Haq for putting together a monster of a festival for next year So who is already starting their Download plans, let me know your thoughts on the line up. 04 Sep 2021 | EP 75 CottonMouth Altered Mouth Ep Dead Reynolds Breathe With Strangers Ashen Outlier podcast news | 00:17:48
Brand new episode 28 out now CottonMouth Altered Mouth Ep CottonMouth Altered Mouth Ep, I started the journey and was not blown away but as the EP goes on I found myself more drawn to this, its’s an EP that grows throughout do not expect it to come out swinging from the word go however there some awesome displays on shows here, vocally its clean great, if guitars are you thing then there’s some rip roaring open up the havens style solo with some awesome leads on this ep matched by a great rhythm section, I know next to nothing about this band I have seen there named on gig posters and I would been keen to check them out live, as I get the feeling of their sound being more inspired by classic rock bands like Euorpe and Iron maiden in there, this is by no means not a bad thing. A really enjoyable listen

Dead Reynolds Breathe With Strangers The return of a band I have spoken about a lot on the show before Dead Reynolds are about to drop their debut album Breathe With Strangers on the 17 September If you want high octane then this album will be for you, an ep that draws upon styles and sounds from bands like Jimmy Eat World to Deaf Havana, this is an album packed with Melody, hooks plenty of energy and punch in the guitars with some incredible tones In love with this make sure you grab your copy a massive thumbs up from Setting The Tone

10 Dec 2021 | EP 88 Single reviews for Conjurer - ‘Thankless‘ Crowbar-Chemical Godz Out in colour -Snake bite Krooked tongue- Freaky love | 00:29:46
Brand episode out now Ep 88
Kicking off this show are Conjurer - 'Thankless' check out the video for ‘Thankless' right here https://youtu.be/lCZoS1CbMng Conjurer's still untitled second full-length, and follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2018 debut album Mire, is set to be released in the not-too-distant future. Stay tuned for more information. Conjurer online http://www.facebook.com/conjureruk http://www.instagram.com/conjureruk http://www.twitter.com/conjureruk 'Thankless ‘is a track that see me stepping outsider my comfort zone, it’s not the sort of track I would jump to put on straight away purely because it’s not a genre I often listen too, However thankless has plenty of grove, a catchy riff and some thick bass lines, whilst offering a melodic hook in the chorus. Whilst still capturing this hardcore essence, there is so much more going on here with 'Thankless', an impressive display of some melodic tones to just bring the track down in tempo and then as quickly it brings calm it picks back up the pace. A very impressive track next up are Crowbar and their brand new single 'Chemical Godz' which is taken from the bands upcoming album zero and below, on 4th March via MNRK Heavy check out here' Chemical Godz’: https://youtu.be/EneeLfh7A0Y Crowbar online: http://www.facebook.com/crowbarmusic http://www.twitter.com/crowbarrules http://www.instagram.com/crowbarmusic http://www.martyrstore.net http://www.mnrkheavy.com http://www.facebook.com/MNRKHeavy http://www.twitter.com/MNRKHeavy http://www.instagram.com/MNRK_heavy Chemical Godz offers a nice sludgy riff with plenty of power and energy behind it, I noticed the track evolves into a prog like sound which I really enjoyed it’s not a track that stays in one lane. Plenty of different breakdown’s twist and turns, overall, a great track to introduce a new album.
Next up out in colour and their new track Snakebite Check out the video for Snakebite here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkUL88AUeug Out in colour online https://twitter.com/OutlineInColor https://www.instagram.com/outlineincolor/ https://www.facebook.com/outlineincolor/ Snakebit opens with this really catchy drum and base feel, it’s a track that has a lot of energy to it, if you’re a fan of Pendulum then this will fit easily into your playlist, as I’ve said its energy levels are off the chart, I love the hook in the chorus as it offers plenty of melody. The track really explodes into another gear towards the end the tempo just increases, overall, a great listen something different.
Krooked tongue and their single Freaky love taken from their debut Ep out next February no vacancy hotel Stream/purchase Freaky love, hit the below links https://open.spotify.com/album/0IoBhHdr6pYEH0ssDsXzZ4 https://music.apple.com/gb/album/freaky-love-single/1594692406 Krooked tongue online https://www.facebook.com/Krookedtongue/ https://www.instagram.com/krookedtongue/ https://twitter.com/krooked_tongue https://krookedtongue.bandcamp.com/releases A track that is constantly evolving weather that be in the melodies the amazing catchy hooks, to the great tones and then a shift in tempo at the end I really love this for its melody and hooks, freaky love really does have a naturally great feel to this, especially with the guitar tones and the power of the guitars

New episode out now.
Pleased to announce Wolf Jaw 'Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda'
About the band Wolf Jaw are from Cannock Tom Leighton - Guitar/Vocals Dale Tonks - Bass/Vocals Karl Selickis - Drums
UK based hard rock trio WOLF JAW drop brand new lyric video 'Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda' to mark the one year anniversary that saw their van and equipment stolen which prevented them from finishing their UK tour.
The tragic event saw fans from all over unite and set up a page to help them. This video is a tribute to those people. The video also shows the journey of Wolf Jaw and how the band have progressed from playing small clubs and pubs to the notable Download Festival, an achievement that many bands can only ever dream of! The track comes from their 2019 album The Heart Won't Listen. Check out the single Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlmAyNTVLe0
Described by Judas Priest's legendary front man Rob Halford as one of his "favorite up and coming rock bands", Wolf Jaw's combination of raw power and passion for their music has created a sound that's described as “Thunderous Rock'n'Roll” by their loyal fans and reviewers alike. You can be sure that every time this power trio hit a stage you’re in for a rollercoaster of riffs, solid grooves and choruses that will have you singing all the way home and forever more; they make sure you don't forget them in a hurry.

17 Oct 2020 | EP 39 Octopus Montage Right here with me single review | 00:12:03
New episode out now.
Setting The Tone is pleased to announce Octopus Montage
and their brand new track Right here with me (out now)
About the band
Octopus Montage are a 4 piece from Blackpool
Dec Naylor - Vocals/Guitar
Alex Jennings - Vocals/Guitar
Davina Naylor - Bass
Cain Dylan – Drums
following the storming success of their previous single ''Grow Up', The pop punk outfit OCTOPUS MONTAGE have just unveiled their latest single 'RIGHT HERE WITH YOU'. If there was ever such a thing as a ‘Pop-Punk ballad’ then this is Octopus Montage’s hat in the ring.
Written by Dec Naylor (Vocals/Guitar), the song focuses on a long-distance relationship and the emotional effects that this can have on an individual. The song is somewhat fictional but has elements of past experiences and points out the reality of some relationships.
Despite not being based fully on a true story, ‘Right Here With Me’ continues to prove that Octopus Montage are dedicated to writing songs that resonate with people's real life situations. Right Here With Me is the second track to be taken from their new album, 'How To Live And How To Lose' which is being released in early 2021,

My thoughts
I love my pop punk genre from the Godfathers like Blink 182, Green day, Simple Plan, New Found Glory, Bowling for Soup to the new generation of the genre in A day to remember.
My only criticism of the track is And this could just be me, But I felt the mix on the vocals to the rest of the band is horribly off, I felt the vocals are louder than the guitars and the drums.
Now this could be intentional and that’s cool.
Anyways what I really love is this is a band that are importing Pop punk from the states and are not trying to be American with it there are just doing them and that’s awesome, if you love your pop punk then add Octopus montage to your playlist

HAIL THE SUN have announced their highly-anticipated fifth full-length album, New Age Filth, set for release on 16th April via Rude Records (UK/EU) Equal Vision (NA). To celebrate the announcement, the band have shared the passionate first single 'Domino', alongside an accompanying video. Watch the video to 'Domino' here: https://youtu.be/f8XrhjIgswg New Age Filth marks the band’s most ambitious material to date, recorded over five weeks with producer Kris Crummett. The energy and thought the band put into the release is apparent on 'Domino', astheir technical prowess shines with instruments dancing over one another as vocalist Donovan Melero belts out his signature vocals. Lyrically, the track centres around reflection of self and how past actions can affect others. On writing 'Domino' Melero stated: “Reflecting is important. What we might discover in reflection can be a hard pill to swallow. I’m only as big as my weakest character flaw. I’m told that I talk a lot in my sleep, and these are the things I think I say.” When HAIL THE SUN entered the studio to record what would become New Age Filth, they knew they were setting out to make their most collaborative and diverse album yet. The band, consisting of Donovan Melero (vocals/drums), Aric Garcia (guitar), John Stirrat (bass) and Shane Gann (guitar), spent a month living in an apartment attached to producer Kris Crummett’s studio which provided a much different experience from the creation of prior albums. The result is ten songs that find the band pushing their creative boundaries in every way. They’re heavier and poppier at the same time, proving their ability to be extremely technical in instrumentation while also unleashing some of the catchiest hooks they’ve ever created. The influence from genre-melding predecessors like Coheed and Cambria, At The Drive-In, and even Yes is apparent, but the sound is still very much a natural evolution from HAIL THE SUN’s past work. The shifting musical compositions on New Age Filth perfectly accompany the emotive lyrical outpour found across the album. Continuing along the theme of reflection, Melero weaves through painful and emotional experiences of love, cynicism, and touches on how awful humans can be to one another. Set for release on 16th April, New Age Filth is sure to appease HAIL THE SUN’s powerful fanbase, who have been clamouring for more from the band since the release of 2018’s Mental Knife, and newcomers alike. The album is available for pre-order now at https://hts.lnk.to/newagefilth HAIL THE SUN Links https://www.facebook.com/hailthesun https://twitter.com/hailthesun https://www.instagram.com/hailthesun My thoughts on 'Domino' is pretty cool to listen too lyrically its feels like piece the veil mixed with some classic cohead and cambria, the track changes direction a couple of times in the first couple of mins which is awesome it shows too me some really cool ideas different things being tried, packed with melody and hooks, energy guitars with some punch and a mixture of some great tones. Domino is great really enjoyed this track.
Moving over to our next single this week and a brand new band ONE LAST DAY unleash debut single NOT READY TO DIE OUT NOW
South-East rockers ONE LAST DAY are proud to unleash their debut single NOT READY TO DIE upon the world. With its deeply introspective lyrics, the track explores dark times that will resonate with many, but rather than accepting this as the reality we allow to dominate, the listener is reminded that we can choose our own outcome. As with all debut tracks, this is the first opportunity to see what One Last Day has on offer, where they sit on the kick-ass spectrum. Not Ready To Die provides us with a riff-centric slice of accessible rock with the meat and muscle of metal. With a nuanced grasp of mixing different phrasings, the band effortlessly slide between rigid structure and blazing breakdowns, all neatly held together by the experienced vocals of Alex Willox (ex Bad Solution).
Alex Willox (vocals) brings some insight about the band and track: "Since myself and the guys got in contact I felt an instant connection to their artistic passion and desire to play and immediately wanted to be a part of this brotherhood or fellowship. Let's say fellowship! Not Ready To Die is a track that I feel many will resonate with during these trying times for many. If we can all take one thing away from this track it's, please don't give up on whatever journey you are on no matter the circumstance. We need to be there for each other.”, John Harmsworth (guitar) continues: "This track is living proof we can adjust our journeys. All band members had to be remote during the whole process which can be tough but like millions of others out there right now we are getting it done and learning boatloads of knowledge also. Our way of being there for our friends and loved ones is through our passion of playing and delivering great music. We hope you will all enjoy our music too and cannot wait to fire away on this journey together!".
Check out not ready to die here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j75mydD6HKc&feature=youtu.be About One Last Day It started with a single jam session between two guitar loving friends. Gareth Stapleton and John Harmsworth knew they had the start of something that could work. With a shared desire to deliver heavy yet accessible music, One Last Day's journey was born. Of course at this point there were no other members, no plan, not even the name! Through the creative development, the guys started playing with different musicians and cementing the direction they wanted to progress, with the addition of Adrian Osman on drums, they found a kindred spirit and also the solid backdrop on which they could deliver. As active members of the South East music scene, they already knew of the vocal prowess of Alex Willox, and after a few hours in a dingy practice room, One Last Day had found it's voice, literally. It's an interesting time to be setting out in the industry and One Last Day are accepting the challenge. One day soon, these guys will be tearing up stages everywhere, come along for the ride and remember where you heard them first!

My thoughts this is ONE LAST DAY debut single, not ready to die, I think the key thing to remember here is this is a band that have come out during a pandemic there are no guide books ever written for how to launch a band during a global pandemic when you can’t tour and barley rehearse together let along play any shows, so with that in mind, the So with the being said Not ready opens with a bluesy style solo, the guitar work on this track is absolutely epic there constantly changing between chuggy riffs and little mini solos which is pretty cool, vocally I feel it’s a pretty safe display of melody. Overall, for the band’s first single its not terrible and I feel with time naturally they will grow and the songs will get stronger, it’s a decent place to begin and I enjoy their first single
Lastly our last single of the week New album The Greatest Mistake Of My Life out 16th April 2021 via SharpTone Records HOLDING ABSENCE have released their deeply anthemic new single 'Afterlife'. The track is the second single from their upcoming sophomore album, The Greatest Mistake Of My Life, due for release on 16th April 2021 via SharpTone Records. Check out the video for 'Afterlife' here: https://youtu.be/qfe8NvYSPmY Impassioned frontman Lucas Woodland comments: "We truly believe this song to be one of our best yet, with its pounding chorus and emotive vocals. Just listening to this song is making us itch for the return of live music so we can get out and play it to you all! "With this song released, we're one step closer to releasing our sophomore album The Greatest Mistake Of My Life and we can't wait for you guys to hear it!" Stream 'Afterlife' and pre-order The Greatest Mistake Of My Life here: https://shrptn.co/afterlife Check out the video for HOLDING ABSENCE's previous single 'Beyond Belief' here: https://youtu.be/BoFUI1Xv4Dw The band comment on the new album: “This album is about telling stories that are presented through the lens of hindsight, regret and looking back. There are songs that celebrate life when faced with death, and others that speak to the choices we make about how we live our lives. The fear of love, newfound respect for life and the covering up of depression are all subjects that rear their head. The Greatest Mistake Of My Life exercises emotion in many ways, and that was an important thing for us to do, because emotion isn’t rigid – it’s not just love or joy or sadness – it’s a lot of things.” HOLDING ABSENCE is: Lucas Woodland - Vocals Scott Carey - Guitar James Joseph - Bass Ashley Green - Drums HOLDING ABSENCE links http://holdingabsence.com/ http://facebook.com/HoldingAbsence http://twitter.com/HoldingAbsence http://instagram.com/HoldingAbsence http://sharptonerecords.co/
My thoughts on 'Afterlife' well I have been waiting for the follow to Holding absence debut album this is the single track from the guys new album The greatest Mistake of my life , and straight away I am hooked, the feel of this straight away feels like it’s like an arena anthem, packed with strong melody and hooks, this really feels like a huge step in terms of progression from everything from writing and recording to production, it’s a track with some real punch and energy to it. 2021 is a year to keep eyes on these guys.

12 Feb 2021 | EP 60 Dead Reynolds Bright Lights, andToby Jepson unwind | 00:24:12
Brand new eposide out now!
Dead Reynolds
ASCENDING ANTHEMIC ROCK QUINTET SET LOOSE NEW SINGLE & REVEAL DEBUT ALBUM PLANS!
Fast rising modern rockers, DEAD REYNOLDS, are poised to climb even further with the release of their ultra-hooky new single, Bright Lights, out now
Check out Bright lights https://youtu.be/HESGPSkc0aE . This killer cut has been taken from the band’s hugely anticipated debut album, Breathe With Strangers, which arrives on Friday 20th August via Fort Records.
Ever since their explosion onto the scene at the end of 2018, DEAD REYNOLDS have gone from strength to strength. To date, the energetic fivesome have assembled an army of dedicated followers and earned the respect and praise from a plethora of tastemakers. The band have racked up widespread support for their recorded work, including last year’s sophomore EP, Frontier, which received buoyant accolades from Powerplay Magazine and Louder/Classic Rock Magazine. The release also gained extensive recognition from the likes of Maximum Volume Music, Moshville, Real Gone, Devils Gate Music, and The Punk Site, to name just a few. As well as obtaining broad acclaim for their previous EPs, the band have also notched up airtime with Kerrang! TV and Scuzz TV. DEAD REYNOLDS have also been repeatedly pioneered by Kerrang Radio’s Johnny Doom, with Johnny consistently championing the band’s singles and releases. Not only have DEAD REYNOLDS been regularly playlisted by Kerrang Radio, but the Brit anthemic rockers have also picked up worldwide radio airplay across fifteen countries, and have been played by more than two hundred radio stations. Sharing stages with everyone from Deaf Havana, Mallory Knox, and Mark Morriss (The Bluetones), as well as their own headline shows, has certainly increased their profile. The band’s Spotify streaming numbers also demonstrate their notable growth (Dead Reynolds’ last EP, Frontier, is up to 100k plays and counting).
DEAD REYNOLDS are now set to break out to the masses. The band will release their debut album, Breathe With Strangers, in August. The Brit modern rock crew are also primed to drop their massively captivating new single, Bright Lights. The track is an infectious piece of contagious alt-rock laced with thoughtful breakdowns, a huge refrain, and a modern tilt which demonstrates that the five-piece are unafraid to twist and reshape their sound.
Further singles and video releases are planned throughout the Spring and Summer, so watch out. DEAD REYNOLDS are destined to be one of the bands to breakthrough in 2021.

my thoughts
Bright Lights
Only one way to start the review for this track, for me bright lights is epic, it feels like its already arena written, great melody and hooks in the, guitars with a real drive and punch and I love the tones, most of all the sense this track picks up the intensity and pace really high octane energy coming off this track
Our next single this week is Toby Jepson
Toby Jepson found fame as the frontman/Singer/songwriter for British Rock Band Little Angels who achieved significant success in the UK, Europe and Japan Between 1989 and 1995. Today we know Toby for being a part of the incredible band Wayward sons
'Unwind' is the lead single taken from Wayward Sons and former Little Angels frontman Toby Jepson's forthcoming compilation album 'Viewfinder'.
Originally featured on his 2001 'Refresh' EP and remastered for the retrospective release 'Viewfinder' by Simon Francis (Toby and the Whole Truth 'Ignorance Is Bliss'); 'Unwind' is an up tempo contemporary rock song that's perfectly suited to lift moods and still remains fresh to the ears 20 years on.
Toby reflects on the making of 'Unwind' and 'Viewfinder' album in a new series of story videos, which further reveal what happened to the British singer/song writer between Little Angels splitting up and the formation of Wayward Sons:
.Check out the video for 'Unwind': https://youtu.be/xM6cHxbYTF8
. 'Viewfinder': https://youtu.be/mbMZKs3ixjU
'Viewfinder' is officially released on the 12th March 2021 via Jepsongs Recordings.

My thoughts
Toby Jepson Unwind
Another high octane track to carry on the show with, Unwind as I have said is high octane lots of energy and thing I have picked out straight away that I love is this pop punk feel, it feels like a classic new found glory and by no means is this meat as insult to toby or new found glory.
Its catchy plenty of hooks and packed with melody, a really catchy fun track to go into the weekend with
Thank you to Rob - Stampede Press

Although the early seeds of ROLLIN DICE were sown in Athens, Greece in 2011, by vocalist and guitarist Antonis Karathanasopoulos, it wasn’t until 2017 that the band fully finalised and shaped their impressive sound. With a fixed line-up of John Robas (bass guitar, backing vocals), Aggelos Kalogiannis (drums) and Antonis Karathanasopoulos (vocals and guitar), ROLLIN’ DICE have gained widespread recognition in Greece for their enthralling rock sound that pulls from Rush and Black Sabbath to Rival Sons and Kadavar.
The trio’s debut album, Way To The Sun, landed in November 2017, and Greek Metal Hammer swiftly offered the release a much deserved 8/10 review. The band diligently toured the album across Greece and opened for V.I.C. (Villagers of Ioannina City) and Nightstalker. ROLLIN’ DICE played the Rockwave Festival, sharing stages with Iron Maiden, Volbeat and Tremonti. However, shortly after this career highlight, one of the band members suffered a serious health issue and all recording and touring were postponed.
The emerging threesome returned to the fold this year with renewed determination and vigour. The band have now recorded and released their new album, Reroll, and the media are rapidly praising and hailing the release as the group’s best work to date. The band comment about the album: “’Reroll’ is about entering a new era after a turbulent period. It’s a statement that, no matter what, the band is going to keep on playing and adapting to the difficulties that lay ahead by overcoming them together.” Expressing infectious groove, tantalising riffs and engrossing vocals, this album is poised to put ROLLIN’ DICE on the map.

My thoughts the track opens with a classic sounding riff from, a riff you would have heard back in the 70’s however that’s not a bad thing, it’s well a well-produced clean track, I love the break down in the middle the way the band have slow donw things and then there is a euphoric guitar solo, overall, its an easy listen, I was not taken back by it, but more than happy to see what the albums sounds like.

Moving over to our next release
Crosspaths
new single Defiant 20 November 2020
EXCITING NEW CROSSOVER CREW DETAIL EP PLANS & ANNOUNCE NEW SINGLE!
Unstoppable alt-metal crew CROSTPATHS continue their ascension with the launch of their sophomore EP, Mutated, out Friday 27th November. Before then, the nu-metalcore rapscallions have just unleashed an explosive new single, Defiant check it out here
Crostpaths
Coming at you from Kent and born at the very end of 2018, CROSTPATHS made an early name for themselves with the release of last year’s self-titled debut EP. Tracks from the record spawned radio airplay via Total Rock and Hard Rock Radio and grass roots support poured in from many quarters. Taking cues from Papa Roach, Fever 333, and Linkin Park, CROSTPATHS have managed to astutely etch fresh imprints on the nu-metalcore genre.
Consisting of Ritchie Murray Jack (Lead Vox), Owain Lewis (Bass/Vox), Michael Edwards (Lead Guitars), and James Mason (Drums/Percussion), the emerging crew have recently signed to Enso Music Management and have collaborated with local artists including Dohny Jep, WeatherView and apatternimperfect to produce remixes of their self-titled EP. Recently, the band’s focus has firmly shifted to their thunderous new EP, Mutated. The record is a burly slice of alternative metal infused with killer breakdowns, monstrous riffs, rampant energy, and a plethora of hooks. Lead Vocalist, Ritchie Murray Jack remarks: "We wrote this high-octane material in late 2019 with the intention of a spring release to coincide with touring. Best laid plans eh? Sonically, it's all action, but lyrically the songs reflect a rollercoaster of emotions that many will be familiar with (especially now): anger, sorrow and stubborn defiance."
CROSTPATHS have a hatful of blistering singles and videos on the way and will tour the EP as soon as the world allows. Stay tuned to their social sites for constant updates.

my thoughts
so we are quickly revisiting a band who have featured in a previous episode. back with their second track Defiant it opens with a riff that sounds remises of STATIC X Riff, Defiant is similar to Rampage that in the respect its high energy , what I really love with Definat is the melodic chorus it has a natural hook that will get stuck in your head overall I’m really enjoying what I’m hearing with Crosspaths would love to seem them live as I feel there shows are going to be of the energy and quality that of Fever 333 and linkin park so much energy and passion
for fans of Linkin park,Fever 333,papa Roach.
Thank you to SaN PR for sending these over.
moving over to our next single this week I present Black Tree Vultures and their brand new single out now 'RUN BACK TO THE DARK out 20 November
Brit hard rockers BLACK TREE VULTURES drop brand new video 'RUN BACK TO THE DARK'! This is the second single release following their September release 'The Unforeseen' from their new EP 'III' which is set for release, February 12th 2021.
This track is emotionally hard hitting, not just lyrically but also due to the circumstances that inspired its inception. It takes a huge amount of bravery to discuss your mental health and openly show your underbelly. This is exactly what has been done through this single and its message will resonate with all of its listeners. The single boasts punchy riffs, crushing grooves, huge hooks and is the second installment of three singles from their upcoming EP 'III' - which will be released early next year. This track is emotionally hard hitting, not just lyrically but also due to the circumstances that inspired its inception.
Having worked on their previous release with Grammy nominated producer Romesh Dodangoda, Black Tree Vultures wanted to expand on their sound and took the new EP to Spain to work along side producer Will Maya (The Answer) in Los Rosales Studios.
Whilst 2020 has been a write off for some, BTV have been proactive behind the scenes signing with booking agents, Roulette Media and have already been confirmed for Teddy Rocks festival, HRH Ibiza, Love Rocks and Lindos Rocks in Greece. They have also signed with Iron Road talent management and performed on the Iron Road live @ your social bubble event which was streamed on July 18th and was extremely successful. BTV have gone from strength to strength, gaining momentum and fans worldwide!
"*Ched played this melodic baseline at practice one day and stopped me in my tracks, “What's that!?” I said. “Oh just something I had knocking around”. Despite the rest of the band thinking it wasn’t very “us” I persisted and this song developed. It was the end section that made the others realise we had a good thing here.*
Easily the hardest song I have ever had to write lyrically. This is the first time that we have taken a slower route with our songs and this allowed me to get my feelings down on paper more freely. This song is about my bi-polar diagnosis. With me talking to both versions of myself that I hate so much. This song is written about me, however with the idea that anyone can refer to it who may be going through something similar and can relate. The fact that I hate I’m like this, but I am going to do everything in my power to push it away and beat this illness." – Celyn
Formed in early 2017 by Jonno Smyth (Drums) and Aaron ‘Ham’ Hammersley (Guitar), Black Tree Vultures set out to combine their classic metal influences with a modern edge, to play to an audience ranging from seasoned metal veterans to new rock lovers. After recruiting Celyn Beynon (Vocals) to front the band, writing and recording began on their debut EP “Sanity Isn’t Perfect”. This was released on BTV records via plastic head media in February 2018.
The band crafted a strong live set and immediately took to the road, playing towns such as Oxford, Birmingham, Southampton & Colchester. Receiving great receptions wherever they went the band landed their first main support slot for Snakecharmer a few weeks before their debut E.P was released. Continuing to play live around the UK, Black Tree Vultures have supported the likes of Diablo Blvd, Bigfoot, and Ryders Creed. The band soon found themselves in Europe to play live in Holland, Germany and Belgium. This included a Headline spot at the Dutch festival “Wolluk-Stock”.
Thanks to the support of the BTV fans, the band were voted to play at a Hard Rock Hell battle of the bands in August 2018 turning heads and securing more gigs for the future. Here they met ‘Ched’ Cheeseman who, after standing in on Bass, later went on to become a full time member completing the current line-up.
2020 saw them write and record their four-track EP 'lll' which will be released February 2021 alongside producer Will Maya (The Answer) in Los Rosales Studios in Spain.
They also signed up with booking agents Roulette Media and have already been confirmed for Teddy Rocks festival, HRH Ibiza, Love Rocks and Lindos Rocks in Greece.
Summer 2020, saw Black Tree Vultures sign up with Iron Road Talent management and they are already planning things behind the scenes for when live performances return!
Somethings, Covid-19 just can't stop!

My Thoughts Run back to dark opens to a softly but lovely gentle riff, I love the delicate tones that come out of Aaron fingers, and then we have Celyn amazing soft vocals that complement the track so perfectly , Run back to dark offers the perfect blend of melody and power, the track is extremely well produced . I don’t think it will be long and we will see BTV on some pretty impressive line ups. For fans of Blackstone cherry, Alter Bridge

10 Feb 2021 | EP 59 Love And Death,Perfectly Preserved Special | 00:38:42
With the release of their highly anticipated new album - 'Perfectly Preserved' - and a globally streamed album release concert only a week away, Love and Death, the anthemic hard rock project spearheaded by Brian 'Head' Welch (Korn) and Jasen Rauch (Breaking Benjamin) have revealed the full list of special guests joining them as they take to the stage for the first time in eight years. Joining the band for their epic streaming event on February 12th will be Lacey Sturm of Flyleaf, Keith Wallen of Breaking Benjamin and Matty Mullins of Memphis May Fire. Tickets available here.
The band have also shared a clip of behind the scenes rehearsal footage for the event, which can be viewed here or by clicking the image below. The official trailer for the event can be viewed here.
Speaking on his excitement for the upcoming streaming event, Brian "Head" Welch shares:
"Regarding the album release concert February 12, I'm actually quite shocked that we are going to pull off such an amazing event with some special very guests who live in different states–all during a world-wide pandemic!"
Love and Death have also treated fans to the third new track from 'Perfectly Preserved'. Titled "The Hunter" and featuring Keith Wallen from Breaking Benjamin, the track is accompanied by a thought provoking lyric video providing a visual commentary to the lyrical theme of the song, showing the state our society currently finds itself in. The video for "The Hunter" can be found by clickinghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfa4PmIzGr0&feature=youtu.be
Elaborating on the meaning behind the new track and it's visual accompaniment, Welch adds
"We've been very fortunate to have such a professional team around this project to help us put out such quality content with our latest release. Our newest track "The Hunter” feat. Keith Wallen is no exception. Naro Studios along with Soft Surrogate really helped get our message across in "The Hunter” regarding the many different crises that our society in America has been facing as of late. It truly is a work of art."
"The Hunter" follows the release of lead single "Down" which was released in November 2020, marking the band's first new music in 8 years and subsequent track "White Flag". Since its release, "Down" has hit 1.2 million total global streams to date with the official music video and lyric video amassing 937k YouTube views to date.
About Love and Death
Love and Death began with the similar raw, authentic emotional honesty that drove singer/guitarist Brian “Head” Welch to multi-platinum, Grammy Award winning heights as a cofounder of genre trailblazers Korn. Forged as an outlet for recovery and redemption in a season of change, the formation of Love and Death resulted in the dynamic 2013 debut Between Here & Lost. The album spoke plainly to the hearts of similarly disenfranchised fans all across the world.
Love and Death now return with Perfectly Preserved, a crushing yet accessible full-length follow-up, driven by the spiritual resilience inherent in the first record, combined with an even starker depiction of real-life struggle. Anger, broken relationships, lowered self-worth, and the collision of optimistic values with oppressive systems are all on display, from the arresting refrains of “Tragedy,” “Death of Us,” and “Affliction,” to the bold, conqueror driven anthem of “White Flag.” Simply put, it is heavy music to vigorously confront depression, heartbreak, and pain.
Perfectly Preserved marks the introduction of guitarist, bassist and co-songwriter Jasen Rauch as a full-fledged member of the band, as well as second time producer for Love and Death (co-production from Joe Rickard). Jasen, best known as an integral part of chart-topping rockers Breaking Benjamin, produced Love and Death’s first album in 2013. Completing this definitive lineup as they charge into this new chapter are the band’s original guitarist, JR Bareis, who now shares vocals with Welch, and powerhouse drummer Isaiah Perez.
Much like A Perfect Circle or Stone Sour, Love and Death isn’t a “side project” or replacement for the guys’ respective bands. It’s an extension and companion, offering each of them a unique outlet to explore different aspects of their creative passions.
It’s also an opportunity for further collaboration with their friends from other bands. “The Hunter” features Jasen’s Breaking Benjamin bandmate (and solo artist) Keith Wallen, who was also a major co-writer on the project, and longtime comrade and former Flyleaf singer, Lacey Sturm lends her vocals to a metallic rendition of a surprising pop cover.
As their fans have learned to expect, Love and Death are fearless in their open examination of contradictions and failure, making confessional music with an underlying anchor of purpose and hope. Like the band’s very moniker suggests, both ‘Love’ and ‘Death’ are very present in all that they do.
Love and Death Are Brian “Head” Welch – Vocals, Guitar Jasen Rauch – Bass JR Bareis – Guitar, Vocals Isaiah Perez – Drums
My thoughts on the Hunter straight away you are hit in the face with melody plenty of punch and drive from the guitars with some lovely tones, Keith wallen vocals are out of this world and fit so well with the track, production is crisp and clean and for me is the perfect boarder for the track to be placed into , overall a great track and I can’t wait for this album.
Pleased to announce Setting The Tone’s Interview with JR from Love and Death I recently got the chance to sit down with JR from Love and Death to discuss their release of the new album Perfectly Persevered released on the 12.2.2021 Okay continuing with our Love and Death special, we now have Setting The Tone’s interview with JR from Love and Death,Once again, a huge thank you to JR, I wish the guys all the best with the release of the album Perfectly Persevered

05 Sep 2020 | EP 34 The Hot One Two Rolling Stone single review | 00:06:32
Brand new episode out now
The Hot One Two
drop brand new single ROLLING STONE out September 4th 2020
Rolling stone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ppa9wdYIYc
Brit rockers The Hot One Two Aka T.H.O.T are back with their new single Rolling Stone delivering a riffy, hook heavy slab of rock n roll to the listener. T.H.O.T are reminiscent of that classical sound many of us fell in love with, infused with modern anthemic rock. The track is guitar driven showing crushing grooves and soaring vocals.
“We think “Rolling Stone” is a salute to Classic “Feel Good” Rock. It’ll have you wanting to jump in the car on a sunny day, put the windows down, the speakers up and hit the open road.
The video consists of footage we managed to capture this year, pre-Covid, from our only two shows of 2020 in Copenhagen & Cambridge. We’ve missed performing, and we just hope sharing this footage helps to reignite your excitement for live music once again, because there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, and all your favourite bands will be gracing their stages again soon”. - Joe Chivers
Made up of furry-faced frontman Simon West, Nick Manners on Guitar, Bass player Nick Blackburn and Joe Chivers on Drums, currently aided by Rory Lewis on second guitar, The Hot One Two are a humble collective of musicians hailing from Cambridgeshire.
Bound together through a mutual love for Rock music (and all it entails), the band are seeking to spread their message across the nation – a message to reassure the UK (and the rest of the world for that matter), that Rock music, is very much alive!
Cramming contagious riffs, face-contorting solos and monstrous beats in to their tracks, the guys put a modern spin on the Classic Rock sound of the 70s and 80s. After fast becoming a staple within the local up-and-coming Rock Community and NWOCR Scene with their bold, energetic and intense live shows – it’s fair to say that they are a band not to be missed when gracing a stage near you.
I really love this track its pure Rock brilliance, with awesome hooks and punchy guitars this is one to add to your playlist, my only gripe would be I feel the mix on the vocals is too quiet just needs coming up a bit.
If you’re a fan of hard rock then this is for you, for fans alter bridge, shinedown.

11 Dec 2020 | EP 49 Siamese Can‘t Force The Love‘ and Dub war. ‘Them Thing Dehi single reviews | 00:13:05
Ne w Episode Out Now
Denmark's current hottest export SIAMESE have just dropped a video for new single 'Can't Force The Love'. The award-winning post-hardcore outfit blend heavy riffs with soaring melodic vocals in this hook-filled track. Check out the video here: https://youtu.be/qb1nwhkGNWU Listen to 'Can't Force The Love' here: https://siamesedk.lnk.to/cantforcethelove 'Can't Force The Love' is the follow up to 'Home' ft Drew York (Stray From The Path) which received an incredible response and amassed over 700,000 streams in eight weeks. Feedback for the track was extremely positive and placed the band firmly on the map, with support from the likes of Rock Sound, Radio 1, Kerrang! Radio and top placements on Spotify's influential 'Kickass Metal' and 'New Core' playlists. The video for 'Can't Force The Love' is number two of three the band filmed in an abandoned military base in Denmark, that was actually the set for Netflix series 'The Rain'. "We found it to be very 2020 apocalyptic, but also had to be creative and smart in trying to make an idea work during lockdowns, restrictions etc." explains frontman Mirza Radonjica. "Lyrically the song is dedicated to a person I had to let go last year. Not to diss her, or to point fingers, but to explain what an impossible idiot I am, and why she's better off without me to be honest." SIAMESE have moved their UK tour to July and August, see below for new dates. Line-Up: Mirza Radonjica - Vocals Andreas Kruger - Guitar Christian Lauritzen - Guitar, Violin Marc Nommesen - Bass Joakim Stilling - Drums SIAMESE online: https://www.facebook.com/siamesedk https://siamese.bandcamp.com/
My thoughts Force the love is a strong single packed with melody and a chorus with a natural hook, guitars sounds that really hit hard, Siamese have really delivered a great track, packed with influences from bands like apocalyptica and Nightwish I feel the guys have done an incredible job at mixing all these incredible sounds you have the heavy guitars and drums and yet the melodic electronic trance sounds.
Go and give this a listen
Moving on to our next single this week
OKAY so something completely out of my comfort zone and genre I have never even thought I consider looking into
DUB TRIO share a new single via New Damage Records titled 'Them Thing Deh Dub' featuring BENJI WEBBE of Skindred on vocals. Listen on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/o5GB9JFl5I8 Stream here: https://fanlink.to/DubTrio 'Them Thing Deh Dub' is a cover of 'Them Thing Deh' by legendary reggae artist Ini Zamoze. "We're putting this song out for the love of it. We knew we wanted to do a track that paid homage to our forefathers of reggae and dub, rhythm section greatness, Sly and Robbie. They have been an endless source of inspiration to us as a band from the beginning,” shares DUB TRIO’s Stu Brooks. “So, as helicopters swarmed over Hollywood during BLM protests, my wife and I felt compelled to finally break quarantine. As we approached Hollywood and Vine to join in solidarity with the protesters, ‘Them Thing Deh’ happened to be the soundtrack in my headphones. The lyric “got to keep your cool” really spoke to me as I could feel the tension in the air. That week, we quickly put the rhythm tracks together, recording from three different states, with the help of Roger Rivas on organ and keys and hit up our old friend, legend Benji Webbe. Benji is the ultimate genre-masher, soulfully clashing metal, reggae, punk, dub, dancehall... all the sh*t we love!” Among the band members' many production and recording projects, Stu Brooks had the honour to track the bass for Danny Elfman's first solo single in 36 years, 'Happy'. It is available now and can be found here: https://dannyelfman.ffm.to/happy DUB TRIO released their 5th full-length album The Shape of Dub to Come on New Damage Records in 2019, with praise from Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Consequence of Sound, Revolver, Noisey, Brooklyn Vegan, New Noise Magazine, Submerge Magazine, and more. An homage to titles such as Refused’s The Shape of Punk to Come and Ornette Coleman’s The Shape of Jazz to Come, The Shape of Dub to Come’s groove hinges on slower stoner-inspired sludge riffing. The release was followed by touring across the United States and Europe, including direct support on the Incubus tour. The acclaimed LP was announced with 'World of Inconvenience [feat. King Buzzo]' at Rolling Stone, who called it, “Heavy, trippy… a crafty, atmospheric hybrid." 'Fought The Line [feat. Troy Sanders]' followed via Consequence of Sound, "The creepy, script-flipping video speaks to the song’s heavy lyrical theme." With 'Forget My Name Dub [feat. Meshell Ndegeocello]', they usher dub into new territory like only they can. Purchase The Shape of Dub to Come here: http://smarturl.it/DubTrio Over nearly two decades together, Brooklyn’s DUB TRIO - Stu Brooks [bass], DP Holmes [guitar], andJoe Tomino [drums] - not only delivered a string of albums that forever redefined the term “dub” under cover of metal, punk, alternative, and shoegaze, but also infused its musical prowess into the studio recordings and the shows of genre-bending icons ranging from Mike Patton to Lady Gaga. My thoughts so Like I said at the start this is something that I’m not in my comfort zone and feel like a massive intruder but we give this a guy, personally I quite enjoyed this track its melodic and an easy listen, some lovely production on the track with different sounds and different effects within the track, if you’re a fan of reggae then go and check this out Dub war sound like a lot of fun

08 Jan 2021 | EP 54 Single Reviews for LANDMVRKS Paralyzed, As Everything Unfolds Wallow STANDING LIKE STATUES ‘Stupid Love Drop Down Smiling The Fear of Missing out | 00:23:58
New Episode Out Now ‘Paralyzed' out 26th February 2021 French metalcore stars LANDMVRKS have released a video for their new single 'Paralyzed'. The track is taken from the band's forthcoming album Lost in The Waves, due for release on 26th February 2021 via Arising Empire. The turbulence of the global COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating effect on live music. Shows and festivals across the world have faced cancellations or postponements, with much uncertainty as to when they will return. One such festival was Storm The Arena, which was set to take place at the Accor Arena in France on 12th December 2020. LANDMVRKS took to the iconic venue during the pandemic to safely record the video for ‘Paralyzed’, which is dedicated to the musicians and those around the world who remain paralysed during these unprecedented times. Check out the video for 'Paralyzed' here: https://youtu.be/YNLZUinqksw Stream/purchase 'Paralyzed' here: https://Landmvrks.lnk.to/paralyzed After successfully building their reputation through asserting their own style on 2018 masterpiece Fantasy, LANDMVRKS return with their upcoming third album, Lost In The Waves, their heaviest and most organic album to date with an uncompromising, distinctive style. This is LANDMVRKS in their purest form. Lost In The Waves will be available as CD, limited vinyl in two different colour variants and a limited special fan box. Pre-order here: https://Landmvrks.lnk.to/lostinthewaves LANDMVRKS formed in 2014 in Marseille, France, and are now comprised of Florent Salfati on vocals, Rudy Purkart on bass guitar, Nicolas Exposito and Paul C. Wilson on guitars, with Kévin D’Agostino on drums. The band spent two years writing and recording material and playing local shows, building their reputation within the French metalcore scene with a series of singles. In May 2016, LANDMVRKS self-released their debut album Hollow, which was produced entirely by Salfati and Exposito. Following the release of Hollow the band ventured on tours throughout Europe, enticing new fans with their modern metalcore style, peppered with hardcore riffs and catchy choruses. The record also landed them slots on big festivals, strengthening their reputation even further. In 2018 LANDMVRKS signed a record deal with Arising Empire, releasing their second studio album Fantasy. Continuing to build their name with their own fresh take on metalcore, LANDMVRKS went on to travel the world, playing in Japan, embarking on several headline tours and supporting While She Sleeps and Stray From The Path on a UK/European tour. While they were out on the road LANDMVRKS focused on writing brand new material, which showcases a powerful new direction from the French band, one that is more mature, melodic, and deeper than before. LANDMVRKS' UK/European tour has been postponed to October/November 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and European restrictions. My thoughts I’m pleased to welcome back LANDMVRKS to the show last year we got to check out their single Lost in a wave, Paralyzed straight away is something completely different too … its more of slower paced opening with Melodic vocals and delicate keys in the background, and then just when you think you have gage where this is going later on Florent lets rip. Overall, this is great track and is very very different too but that what is perfect I said I wanted to hear more from these guys have done that with Paralyzed Moving over to our next single this week
AS EVERYTHING UNFOLDS are: Charlie Rolfe - Vocals Adam Kerr - Guitar Owen Hill - Guitar George Hunt - Bass Jon Cassidy - Synth Jamie Gowers - Drums Melodic post-hardcore sextet AS EVERYTHING UNFOLDS have released their new single 'Wallow'. The track is the fourth single from their forthcoming debut album, Within Each Lies The Other, set for release on 26th March 2021 via Long Branch Records. Check out the visualiser for 'Wallow' here: https://youtu.be/HGAhxk24ohI Vocalist Charlie Rolfe comments on the single: "Anger and sadness really drove this track lyrically and there's a lot of frustration which is present through the use of the mostly harsh vocals. It’s a song about betrayal, liars and anyone who has ever done anything to you to make you deliberately feel worthless. A lot of energy is taken out on this song, and we invite you to do the same." 'Wallow' follows the band's previous singles 'Take Me There', 'Hiding From Myself' and 'Stranger In The Mirror', which have collectively garnered over 1,000,000 streams. Stream 'Wallow' and pre-order Within Each Lies The Other here: https://aseverythingunfolds.lnk.to/withineachliestheother Since the release of their Closure EP in late 2018, AS EVERYTHING UNFOLDS have gone from strength to strength, touring heavily across the UK & Europe, including performing alongside the likes of Dream State, ADEPT, Our Hollow, Our Home and more. The success of Closure caught the attention of the esteemed Long Branch Records, who signed an international deal with the six-piece this year. Alongside their dedicated fanbase and hard-working ethos, the future is strong for the band, the future is AS EVERYTHING UNFOLDS. As Everything Unfolds links https://www.facebook.com/AsEverythingUnfolds https://twitter.com/aeuofficial https://www.instagram.com/aeuofficial/ https://www.musicglue.com/aseverythingunfolds/
My thoughts Wallow is a track that straight away comes at you the guitars have a big impact on this track, a great riff is matched by a great melodic hook of a chorus, I can hear a lot of Dream state in this track but equally a lot of Butcher babies, it’s clear As Everything Unfolds have many inferences to draw upon, the track is well produced and will fit lovely into your playlist this weekend overall a great track. Moving over to our next single Alt-rock quintet STANDING LIKE STATUES release video for 'Stupid Love'New EP Reality Checkpoint out now Cambridge alt-rockers STANDING LIKE STATUES have released a video for 'Stupid Love', taken from their 2020 sophomore EP, Reality Checkpoint. The enticing single has already proven to be a hit with press and fans alike, including strong support from Kerrang! Radio's Johnny Doom. 'Stupid Love' was also championed as one of the best tracks on the BBC Introducing uploader, following recent airplay on BBC Music Introducing in Cambridge. Check out the video for 'Stupid Love' here: https://youtu.be/6dZRrawRK04 The band comment on the new single: "Love is beautiful, but it can also be painful. This is the ultimate 'keeping it together' anthem. It was written following the end of a near decade-long relationship, about dealing with the mixed emotions that come from all angles. It’s about fighting through the worst of it and realising that the end of one thing can be the beginning of something else." Stream/purchase the band's Reality Checkpoint EP here: https://statues.fanlink.to/realitycheckpoint Formed in 2015, STANDING LIKE STATUES have supported We Are The Ocean, Decade, Fort Hopeand Courage My Love, as well as being featured on BBC Look East and, more recently, BBC Introducing Cambridge. Inspired by the likes of Taking Back Sunday, 30 Seconds To Mars and Biffy Clyro, STANDING LIKE STATUES draw from the greats of alternative rock to combine anthemic energy with soul-searching lyrics. STANDING LIKE STATUES worked with renowned producer Romesh Dodangoda on their latest EP, which has forced the band to dig deep and harness the power to commit themselves to authenticity; rising above the blur of memes, trends, concepts and false personas which dominate modern life. Having learned to laugh in the face of adversity, there are no barriers to fight through and lots of love to give. STANDING LIKE STATUES links https://www.standinglikestatues.com/ https://www.facebook.com/standinglikestatuesuk/ https://twitter.com/statuesband https://www.instagram.com/standinglikestatues/ https://www.youtube.com/user/likestatuesuk
My thoughts, STANDING LIKE STATUES really have a great sound to them, and Stupid Love showcases their influences from taking back Sunday to Biffy Clyro, the thing I love more than anything about this track is the production is out of this world the guys have worked with the legendry Romesh Dodangoda who has worked with Funeral for a friend, Kids in glass houses, the blackout to name a few. The track has tones of melody and packed with some beautiful guitar tones and hooks to match I really enjoyed Stupid Love, if you’re a fan of Kids in glass houses, Biffy Clyro add this to your playlist.
Our next track sees Setting The Tone meeting a new band
Drop Down Smiling have just released a new track 'The Fear of Missing Out' check out the video www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaFY_P04Sro
Like the Phoenix from the ashes, the butterfly from the cocoon, Drop Down Smiling have emerged from their lockdown hibernation to bring you a brand-new track, aptly titled 'The Fear of Missing Out'.
You've missed out on a lot this year, don't miss out on this!
The Fear of Missing Out addresses the social pressures of ‘fitting in’ - the issues we face and self-destructive habits we form while under constant bombardment from ‘the-grass-is-greener-rose-tinted-glasses’ lifestyles presented to us on social media.
It’s a song about the anxiety that comes with comparing your regular life to the highlights of others’. Fuelled by the desire to be connected to others, especially this year, it’s about the skewed sense of ‘normal’ that develops when your main outlook on the world is through the glowing brick in your hand.
The Fear of Missing Out release is accompanied by a brand-new music video from the lads, featuring exclusive footage from the recording studio alongside their evocative lyrics to make sure you can scream them back at them when they can tour again.
Against a backdrop of generic indie and dull pop-punk regens, Drop Down Smiling stand out with a mix of modern rock, raucous electronica and rich, resonant four-part harmonies. Having previously worked with Gavin Monaghan (Editors, The Twang, Ocean Colour Scene) & Jason Wilcock (You Me At Six, We Are The Ocean), The Fear of Missing Out was produced by Peter Dowsett of Abbey Road Studios (Scouting For Girls, Pharrell Williams & Snoop Dogg to name but a few). Experimental yet organic, with high octane hooks and even higher energy on the stage, Drop Down Smiling have been described as ‘Biffy Clyro meets Bring Me the Horizon’ & ‘Red Hot Chilli Peppers meets System of a Down’. If those comparisons don’t warrant a listen, what the hell does?! Drop Down Smiling have previously shared the stage with Saves The Day, We Are The Ocean, The Blackout, Lonely The Brave, Rat Attack, Lost Alone, Blitz Kids, Idiom and tonnes more, as well as performing at Wychwood Festival, Wizzfest, Godiva Festival and somehow playing to a wildly confused audience at The Clothes Show on the Kerrang! Stage at the NEC Arena (now Resorts World Arena).

Drop Down Smiling are Chris West – Lead Singer/Guitarist Michael Brown – Lead Guitarist/Backing Vocals Martin Dale – Bassist/Backing Vocals James Porter – Drummer/Samples/Backing Vocals
My thoughts Missing out for me was like if David Bowie and AFI made a track now I don’t say this as insult, you have Chris West vocals and at times they felt very Bowie and then when you add that to the chorus this is where the AFI element comes in Missing out does a great job of mixing melody with some driving punchy guitar sounds, it’s a high octane track with tones of energy and hooks. Production on this is awesome.

Listening to this W.I.Y.G I’m reminded a lot of 70’s infused rock with blues style riffs, the guitars have a great tone to them and vocally this great clean vocals with matched by a punchy riffs which reminded me a little bit of black sabbath, plenty of energy to this one to crank up

02 Oct 2021 | EP 81 Single reviews Blood Youth and SERTRALINE reviews and more | 00:20:00
Setting The Tone’s First live stream, Blood youth and Sertaline reviews and more
Blood Youth start the reviews off this week, I was really surprised by how incredible Visons Of Another Hell is the latest offering from Blood Youth was released on the 1.10.21 and it’s a belter, there are so many different vocal styles on display from clean/growls to melody/harmonies and The guitars are amazing packed with Riffs and melody.
Overall, a great album a joy to listen too.

next up is SERTRALINE And their latest single VIVID. Vivid is the latest offering from SERTRALINE and the last with frontwomen Lizzy who is has now left the band. This is a perfect way too say goodbye from Lizzy who delivers a great vocal display, VIVID has a diffretn feel to previous singles as the is a layer of soft keys in the background and I feel its does not quite capture the same energy, but that being said clearly this being the last single with Lizzie it was going to be slightly different, vivid is still a great track and one you should add to your playlist. check out VIVID https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRcmvmS5flY&feature=youtu.be SERTRALINE onlinehttps://open.spotify.com/album/16HbcYO75O9h8q7w4u9w8L?si=XMsw_Xp5R86dZfOw7oEe_g&dl_branch=1&nd=1 https://www.wearesertraline.com https://www.facebook.com/pg/WeAreSertraline/ https://twitter.com/wearesertraline https://www.instagram.com/sertraline_official/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCA9aF2Nl9tCGO-mUitWHwUg

11 Sep 2021 | Ep 76 single reviews for Mastodon Pushing the tides Our Hollow, Our Home, Eddie Vedder, Black Falcon Alone As A God Eyes Wide open, Blood Command True North ,Zebrahead ‘ | 00:41:30
Brand new Episode out not episode 29
Ep 29 Which see the return to the world for Mastodon who have unleashed a stunning new track Pushing the Tides https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haT5ars6RXc for me this is classic mastodon at their very best heavy riffs classic grit vocals and soaring hooks and melody honestly cant wait for this album to drop, we could be in for a great end to the year.
Next this week Our Hollow, Our Home with their brand new track Monarch check out the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhKLa4b_TsY
Our Hollow, Our Home online Youtube: www.youtube.com/user/OurHollowOurHome/ Facebook: ourhollowourhome Twitter: OHOHofficialuk Instagram: ourhollowourhomeuk Our Hollow, Our Home are new to myself and if you like it heavy then you will like these guys and their single Monarch taken from their Burn in the flood out now, there is a lot going on in this track different vocal styles from growls to clean and then mixed from some rap and this just the vocals guitars switch between heavy riffs to intricate tones, now I’m not normally in for bands like this because I feel once I have heard one I’ve heard them all but I like monarch and what it is to offer so many things going on in and track different layers Thank you to Public City PR
Eddie Vedder returns to his solo projects with a brand new solo track Long way check the video for Long way https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHqd5Q7pYo0
Wow this is so different to his previous body of solo work, this is massive country vibe going on here, it feels very safe as a track don’t expect a ukulele here or the same energy from Pearl jam, this is very much a track where you will have this on driving down a country road somewhere and the sun will be shining, there’s plenty of melody both vocally and guitars. Its nice and cheery just very very different.
Next up are Black Falcon and their single Alone As A God Alone As A God check out the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5lCuKL-4VM
We had announced the news earlier in the show of the return of mastodon, well if you not a fan of Mastodon but like your prog then perhaps Black Falcon can gain your approval, as they have unleashed a powerhouse of a single Alone as A God, which takes its cues from Mastodon, I can even hear little bits of URNE in hear that’s perhaps because URNE are also inspired by bands like Baroness, Mastodon, riffs are heavy and hit you in the chest, thick bass lines and heavy beats are like thunder in the sky, a beautiful breakdown which is met with an breath taking solo.
Black Falcon online https://www.facebook.com/blackfalconband/ https://twitter.com/_BlackFalcon_ https://www.instagram.com/blackfalconband/
thank you to Rage PR
This episode sees the return of a band who have previous featured on the show Eyes Wide open from Sweden Who have just unleashed their brand new track End of days
Watch the video to 'End of Days' here: https://youtu.be/bP01dkvsMJE Stream here: https://eyeswideopen.lnk.to/endofdays
Pre-order Through Life and Death here: https://eyeswideopen.lnk.to/throughlifeanddeath
https://www.instagram.com/ewo_swe https://www.facebook.com/Eyes.Wide.Open.Swe
straight away I’am met with a wave of riff and vocals that remind me so much of earlier Inflames which I love why well Inflames are incredible, plenty of melody in the guitars and vocals in this offering from eyes wide open, the guitars are great and truly heavy.
What really stood out for me was the melodic break downs as it just takes the energy level down and then slowly builds it back up with more fire and energy then the verse, if you love bands like Inflames, meets Killswitch engaged then this band and this track is for you crank this one up to 11
Okay next up this week sees a new band
Blood Command and their single The End is Her Stream The End Is Her https://orcd.co/theendisher
Blood command online https://www.facebook.com/Bloodcommand/ https://bloodcommand.bandcamp.com/ https://www.hasslerecords.com/
straight away this is such a cool track with a bass opening line with a really cool tone, I really like the drum beats on this as there is a really cool rhythm and it really is the back bone to the track, vocally its clean and melodic and poppy , the guitars remind me a little bit from a track from the band 1975, overall this is a really cool track with a great bounce and great energy to it.
Next up this week continuing with theme of new bands True North and their single Save Me
Check out the video for 'Save Me' here: https://youtu.be/07Da7escLPs Stream/purchase 'Save Me' here: https://truenorth.lnk.to/saveme
True north online https://www.facebook.com/itstruenorth https://www.instagram.com/itstruenorth https://twitter.com/truenorthbandla https://www.outofline.de https://www.facebook.com/outoflinelabel https://twitter.com/outofline https://www.instagram.com/outoflinemusic1995 https://www.youtube.com/user/outofline1995
wow this has serious Bring me the horizon vibes, such a belter of a single the guitars are very gentle and soft and kick in at certain points a strong vocal display with melody and hooks in the chorus which for me was the highlight of the track as the chorus are big/bold and loud Some awesome synth in the background to tie this track all together
lastly this week I recently had pleasure of attending this year’s Slam Dunk 2021 SOUTH which was incredible so it only seems right to close out the show with Zebrahead and their brand new single A Long Way Down taken from the III out on the 26 November 2021, make sure to check out the video as it was filmed pre SlamDunk and filming continued into the their time in the UK
Check out the video for 'A Long Way Down' here: https://youtu.be/-tt2JHaoR7I Stream 'A Long Way Down' here: https://listen.lt/ZebraheadALongWayDown
zebrahead online: http://www.zebrahead.com/ https://www.facebook.com/Zebrahead https://twitter.com/zebrahead https://www.instagram.com/zebraheadofficial/ https://www.youtube.com/zebraheadofficial
I spoke about Zebrahead a few weeks back on the sure and how I never really connected to them as a band but honestly this is the second track from the upcoming Ep III and I love it.
The track openings with a really cool beat, vocally its strong and has some serious hooks both vocally and in the guitars which offer a lovely classic pop punk tone, all this with a classic rap in the track and some serious energy again. So so impressed and honestly these guys are slowly converting a massive shout out to them and all the bands last week at Slam Dunk, as it is still not the easiest thing to attend a show or to put it on.

New episode out now.
Pleased to announce Devil in the Details and their new album The Hell You Wanted due for release 30 October 2020
About the band Formed in 2013, Devil in the Details are a five piece progressive, post-hardcore band from Omaha, NE out to connect with people through music. The name Devil in the Details is a reminder not to take everything at face value. Things aren't always as they seem
SeanThomas (Vocals) AaronKoenig (Guitar) MattLund (Drums) DannyCasteel (Guitar) Dylan Lutterll (Bass) Band links https://devilinthedetailsband.com https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGlhywxKOTk3AKZtq0OaZEQ/featured https://open.spotify.com/artist/1BHtEJ6LTp3dilQE7JzhtP https://www.instagram.com/devilinthedetailsofficial/ www.facebook.com/devilinthedetailsband
My thoughts It’s always nice when you are caught off guard by something and you can come away from it with excitement and sheer joy in what you have witnessed and I am pleased to say that exactly what’s happened with devil in the details, their upcoming album The Hell You Wanted does just that.
I was handed this album to listen to by a friend of mine from my town and knowing his musical taste can be a bit more on the heavier side then mine I was sceptical about this listening to this album if I would truly enjoy it, I did not just enjoy it I loved it the album offers a perfect blend of melodic sounds as well as crossing over to slightly heavier tones. This is an album for fans of Bring me the horizon and Architects. Personally. I think this album sounds like its already ahead of the latest work from the bands I have mentioned, it’s an album park with melodic hooks and crushing guitars. This really is an album that is a late comer in this year list, but this will easily squeeze its way onto your 2020 playlist a huge favourite of Setting The Tone.
All the best guys with the release hopefully see you on UK soil soon.

“Illusion is a song about the shared responsibility amongst us if we wish to improve the world, change has to be made by us, you and me...the people” asserts Lopez. “It’s about the frustration of feeling powerless but also the hope in realizing that things can be changed for the better” further Lopez, “if we stop criticizing each other and making enemies of ourselves by blindly following the ideas of politicians and their media.”
Ekelöf affirms: “we can’t just sit around and wait for those in power to help, they are preoccupied with battling each other in matters of greed and power.”
“The ‘Illusion’ video is about dreamers” comments video producer, Daniele Zed Berretta. “There are people who are ready to lose everything to follow their dreams, no matter the cost. Others are afraid of making dreams come true, so they stop right before fulfilling them, just to keep dreaming.”
The video follows the tale of a father and daughter in their quest for survival in a dystopian universe. Watch the video for 'Illusion' here or by clicking the image below. MPERIAL will be released on January 29th 2021, via Silver Lining Music. Available as a CD Digipak, vinyl album, digital formats and special D2C bundles. To pre-order click here. Next track this week A New Tomorrow - "A New TomorrowMODERN BRIT ROCK CREW DETAIL NEW CINEMATIC VIDEO! UK hard rockers A NEW TOMORROW surge into 2021 with a brand-new video for their namesake single, A New Tomorrow. The video is a striking cinematic version of the single and its out now via Frontiers Music. Check it out here - https://youtu.be/vc0ZVWyIfWw . A NEW TOMORROW were Formed in London by vocalist/guitarist Alessio Garavello, and bassist Andrea Lonardi. The dynamic duo were later joined by drummer Tim Hall and guitarist Michael Kew. Harnessing influence from colossal heavyweights such as Foo Fighters, Alter Bridge and Incubus, the quartet have worked tirelessly to hone in on a sound that fuses uplifting and melodic hard rock. To date, A NEW TOMORROW have toured and played a slew of successful shows right across the UK, and throughout most of Europe. Along the way, the tuneful rockers have supported the likes of Fates Warning, Freedom Call, and Thousand Foot Krutch, to name a few. Serving up a barrage of furious riffs coupled with ultra-melodic hooks, it was only a matter of time before industry interest beckoned. In December 2019, A NEW TOMORROW released their debut album, Universe, via Frontiers Music, and widespread critical acclaim soon followed with Metal Hammer Italia, Powerplay, and a host of other publications. The foursome then released a new single and fresh take of their self-titled track, A New Tomorrow, last Autumn - https://youtu.be/xEJcixIoZBc with a stripped-down piano version as a bonus track. The band remark: “We originally intended the cinematic version to be only a B-side to the main single, but we were so impressed with how it turned out, we had to do it justice with its own video”. This new cinematic version showcases the band in a whole new light, and with the next album already in process, A NEW TOMORROW will continue to break new boundaries in 2021 and beyond. Next single MARTIN GORE, songwriter and founding member of Depeche Mode, has today released the hypnotic video for his haunting new track, ‘Howler’, directed by the acclaimed NYSU (Bastille, New Order, Wild Beasts). The track is taken from the forthcoming 5-track instrumental EP, The Third Chimpanzee, out 29 January 2021. Like a recurring nightmare that gets more vivid as time passes, the video draws on the pulsating beat of the track, taking us further into the torment as the video draws to a climax. “I resynthesized my voice and used warped delays and other manipulation effects on ‘Howler.' The end result was a sound that wasn’t quite human, more monkey like.” Martin said of the track. “I really liked the idea of blurring the lines between monkeys and humans. Sometimes I think we just feel that we're so evolved, and that we're so much better. I have been questioning that quite a lot recently.” NYSU said of the video, “On first hearing ‘Howler’ there was a feeling of being inside a Monkey’s brain, its consciousness. It was brutal and primitive but, at the same time, so smart and almost human. The video is an attempt to reflect that, portraying the precise moment when apes evolved into a man or maybe a human regressed into an animal form.” Watch the video for ‘Howler’ HERE Today, Thursday 28th January at 3pm EST/8pm GMT/9pm CET, Martin will exclusively broadcast the full EP live through his Facebook page for the first time, providing commentary during the stream. The Third Chimpanzee will be released digitally, on CD and on Azure Blue Vinyl the following day. It’s been five years since Martin released his acclaimed instrumental album MG. In 2017 Depeche Mode released their global monster Spirit and were recently inducted into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame. BRAND OF SACRIFICE – Animal
Thursday, January 28th, 2021- Canadian deathcore wrecking crew, Brand of Sacrifice, have treated fans to the latest cut of unrelenting, face pummeling gnarliness today with the release of "Animal" - the third track to be released from the band's highly anticipated new album, 'Lifeblood' (out March 5th via Blood Blast Distribution). The new track was exclusively premiered with Loudwire yesterday, who called the new track 'Savagely Brutal' and added "What makes Brand of Sacrifice's sound so compelling is the insane control they have over the chaos that results from a truly wide range of influences.".
Accompanying the new track is a beautiful, cinematic video featuring epic battles between Samurai sword wielding warriors. Watch the video here or by clicking the image below. Find 'Animal' on your streaming platform of choice here.
Since 2018, Toronto-based deathcore quintet Brand of Sacrifice have been imprinting their mark on the heavy music scene. Dubbed ‘The Branded Ones,’ the group’s fans joined and marched with them as they tore across the globe in support of debut EP 'The Interstice' and LP statement 'God Hand' which debuted at #20 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums Chart.
Other highlights to a whirlwind cycle for 'God Hand' included a slot on The Summer Slaughter Tour with Carnifex, Cattle Decapitation, The Faceless and Lorna Shore, a world tour with tech vets Rings of Saturn, plus a tour with fellow upcoming deathcore titans Shadow of Intent.
Brand of Sacrifice have spread their wings for sophomore LP 'Lifeblood' which will be released with help from Blood Blast Distribution on the digital end. The production is even more pummeling, exemplified by laser-sharp structures and a wide-gulf of dynamics. The album takes catchy to another level, with choruses comprising string orchestrations and synths, alongside bludgeoning breakdowns.
The band draws its name from popular anime series Berserk by Kentaro Miura. 'Lifeblood' focuses on the series’ dark horse protagonist Guts, a lone wolf who faces demons both inside and out in a post-apocalyptic world.
Fans at any Brand of Sacrifice show will be familiar with set-closer “Eclipse” and its ending chant of, “Welcome to the new age.” With 'Lifeblood', it’s evident the band have ushered in yet another, even fresher era from which there is no turning back.
Find Brand Of Sacrifice Online My thoughts BRAND OF SACRIFICE – Animal I’m going to start off and be honest I found this to be a very very strange experience, for me it has the feel of cradle of filth meets dimmi borgi, there some great elements to this track lots of different sounds from different genres mixed, for me I can say I’ve listened to it but did not get it, perhaps you guys will.
ANNISOKAY - Like A Parasite
German metalcore quartet ANNISOKAY have released new single / video 'Under Your Tattoos', taken from new album Aurora, out today via Arising Empire. Watch the video for 'Under Your Tattoos' here: 'Under Your Tattoos' follows previous singles 'The Cocaines Got Your Tongue', 'The Tragedy', 'Bonfire Of The Millennials', 'STFU', 'Like A Parasite' and 'Face The Facts', which have been streamed collectively over eight million times on Spotify. Aurora is now available in digital, CD and vinyl formats, as well as a special limited edition fan box. Purchase / stream the album here: https://Annisokay.lnk.to/Aurora Aurora sees ANNISOKAY reinventing themselves, welcoming new frontman and heavy vocalist Rudi Schwarzer - a long-time friend of the band - who stepped into the role in late 2019. Once again guitarist/clean vocalist Christoph Wieczorek oversaw production duties on the album, which is full of heavy riffs, driving percussion, melodic, goosebump-inducing cleans and aggressive shouts. Formed in 2007, ANNISOKAY are at the forefront of German metal with their cutting edge sound, which has earned them huge success at home and has seen them breakthrough internationally. The four-piece have embarked on successful tours throughout Europe, the UK, Japan and the USA, including several headline shows in Belarus, Russia and Ukraine, a US run with I Set My Friends On Fire, two sold-out shows in Russia supporting Parkway Drive, and, more recently, the Xmas Bash Tour with Emil Bulls, which marked Schwarzer's first tour with the band. ANNISOKAY’s first three studio albums were released through Long Branch Records/SPV, all of which charted in the Top 100 Official German Album Charts. In 2018, the band signed to Arising Empire to release their fourth studio album Arms, which reached #26 and marked their highest chart entry to date. ANNISOKAY will embark on a European headline tour in 2021, with support from Future Palace and Set Your Sails. ANNISOKAY socials www.annisokay.com www.facebook.com/annisokay www.instagram.com/annisokay www.twitter.com/annisokay My thoughts ANNISOKAY - Like A Parasite Another track from another band who are not afraid to mix genres and try different things, Like A Parasite offers some heavy guitar tones but with a real punch, a melodic chorus that has a natural hooks crossing over into its heavier elements which is awesome some great production on the track, really enjoyed the video for this one make sure to check it out

18 Sep 2020 | EP 36 TETRARCH’s I’m Not Right single review | 00:07:13
Brand New Episode out now TETRARCH’s I’m Not Right
Modern metal phenom TETRARCH’s new single, “I’m Not Right,” from their forthcoming Unstable album, debuted at 39* on the Billboard Rock Charts and Active Rock Mediabase, further solidifying the potency of the fast-rising frontrunners.
“We are honored to crack the top 40 of the ‘Billboard’ mainstream rock chart,” guitarist Diamond Rowe says. “The love from our fans around this song has been amazing and we know that it is only the beginning of our journey as a future headliner in the hard music genre.”
An official video for “I’m Not Right” has already amassed more than 1.3 million views. Watch it at https://youtu.be/YGbXuxGh1Dk.
Rowe and guitarist Josh Fore are featured artists this week in Guitar World’s “Sick Riffs” series, where the pair offers an instructional video on how to play “I’m Not Right.” Watch the lesson at https://youtu.be/hpV8pod3iPo.
Fierce individuality and a fearless embrace of the outsider are at the heart of TETRARCH, a band equally defined by metallic power and melodic hooks. Seamlessly blending technical chops and aggressive ferocity with menacing groove and massive choruses, TETRARCH obliterates musical barriers. The band’s tireless hard work and relentless determination has established TETRARCH as one of the top up and coming bands in heavy music, catching the attention of major media, including Guitar World, Guitar Player, Premier Guitar and Metal Hammer where lead guitarist Diamond Rowe was the first African American female lead guitarist from the heavy metal genre to be featured.
TETRARCH’s Unstable was recorded earlier this year with producer Dave Otero (Cattle Decaptitation, Allegeon, Khemmis) and is due for release next year via Napalm Records.
TETRARCH is: Josh Fore – vocals/guitar Diamond Rowe – lead guitar Ryan Lerner – bass Ruben Limas – drums
TETRARCH online: www.facebook.com/tetrarchmusic www.instagram.com/tetrarchmusic
I’m not right was a track that did not gel with me straight away, I had to give this a few listens. However, on the third listen I found myself really starting to enjoy the track.
Its kind of like motionless in white meets Korn. with the early stages of the song meeting Motionless in whites’ vocals style and then korns guitar sound. A track that is heavy in sound and a great hook in the chorus a band worth keeping an eye as they are likely to come across the pound on a big support.

This one gets off the line with ease Opening with a nice electronic beat, meat by some very strong vocal displays with harmony/melodies which explode into a powerful chorus with a soaring hooks and powerful guitar with some very impressive tones. It’s another track that gets off to a flyer with strong riffs and some really impressive vocals America Dream has this rawness and power behind it with a strong set off vocals and this riff/crunchiness from the guitars makes this a track to really crank up, the combination of vocal displays is really cool and has a perfect blend of different vocal tones and yet retains this power and drive to the track Go and check this one out
Finally, this week is Archetypes collide and their track Undertow

Closing this week is another belter of a track Undertow offers plenty of energy as well as a feeling of early Nu Metal vibes Packed with crushing riffs and hooks and strong breakdowns. A really strong vocal display with melodies. 02 May 2021 | EP 64 Single reviews Urne Desolate Heart ,TRENDKILL Obsession SPIRITBOX Circle with Me | 00:25:42
New episode out now.
London metal trio Urne have released a studio video for current single Desolate Heart, taken from their upcoming debut album Serpent & Spirit, set for release on 25th June via Candlelight Records. Capturing the atmosphere of the Serpent & Spirit recording sessions, watch the video to 'Desolate Heart' here: https://youtu.be/YA58tDXz-9Y Stream 'Desolate Heart' and pre-order Serpent & Spirit here: https://URNE.lnk.to/SerpentandSpiritPR The video footage was filmed by guitarist Angus Neyra during the Serpent & Spirit recording sessions in Oct 2020 at Foel Studio in Wales, with Chris Fielding on engineering duties. Bassist / vocalist Joe Nally commented: "We wanted to capture the feel of the studio itself as its in such a remote location, and every day the valley would fill with fog and silence. At night the only light comes from the moon and stars completely unpolluted. It's an incredible place to record and we feel it helped set the mood for the album." On 'Desolate Heart', Joe continues: "The song 'Desolate Heart' had been in the making years before Urne actually formed, but was never completed." During the writing process for Serpent & Spirit, Joe found an old demo of the first few minutes of the track, and instantly knew it had to be finished. 'Desolate Heart' subsequently became the first single released from the album. There is no single way that Urne describe their sound, it all comes back to one thing: heavy. There are shades of Metallica, Mastodon, Alice In Chains in there, hopping between sludge, tech-metal, doom, hardcore and anything else with a weighty heart. Formed by ex-Hang The Bastard bassist Joe Nally and guitarist Angus Neyra after their former band called it quits, the pair already had a reputation for big, heavy riffs. Getting drummer Richard Harris on board in 2018, they gilded their new outfit with debut EP The Mountain Of Gold, which immediately marked Urne out as a formidable new metallic force. Now, they return with debut album Serpent & Spirit. Heavier, wider and with an even higher ratio of killer riffs than the EP, it also comes with a weighty concept based around the central character’s struggle as he’s pulled between good and evil, darkness and light. “I had a bit of a bad patch for a few months,” explains Joe, revealing the inspiration for the album’s lyrics. “I’m absolutely fine now, but I drew on those two months where I just wasn’t feeling great. I took that and wrote a story based about that. The actual track-listing is done like that film Memento, where it’s all in a different order. Maybe one day someone will listen to the lyrics and work out which order the story goes in. “The album is called Serpent & Spirit. The spirit is the human experience, the serpent is the evil that tricks your mind. It’s about getting pulled apart and trying to find yourself within all of that. So it’s almost good and evil, and throughout the album it’s about a person getting pulled from the light to the dark.” Due to COVID, the final parts of the album were written over Skype, before being recorded by Chris Fielding (Conan, Electric Wizard, Primordial) at Foel Studios in deepest Wales during lockdown. It was then sent to acclaimed producer Jens Bogren who handled the mastering of Serpent & Spirit. Urne have announced a UK tour in support of Serpent & Spirit. Catch them on the following dates: Wed 7th July - Bournemouth - Anvil Thu 8th July - London - The Black Heart Fri 9th July - Birmingham - Dead Wax Sat 10th July - Manchester - Star & Garter Urne are: Joe Nally - Bass / Vocals Angus Neyra - Guitar Richard Harris - Drums Urne online: https://www.facebook.com/urneband https://www.twitter.com/urneband https://www.instagram.com/urneband
Desolate Heart we kick off the show with an absolute tune, at just over 8 mins Desolate Heart offers so much from crushing drum blast, to guitars riffs that would punch a hole in the Ozone layer, I won’t lie to you this took me a couple of listen to get to grips as I really struggled with the vocals in the verse but the choruses just have this natural big hook to them to pull you in. What really has grab my attention with this track is the way it grows and gets stronger and stronger, Desolate Heart really is a power house of a single from the upcoming release of Serpent & Spirit it goes from strength to strength, don’t stand still on this one, truly one hella of a track to kick off the show with
TRENDKILL and their single Obsession Northern heavyweights, TRENDKILL, have revealed their brand-new video and single, Obsession - https://youtu.be/TP0GeUMsrSY . The track is a layered slab of groove-induced thrash metal that showcases the band’s deft ability to produce captivating heavy music steeped with riffs, dynamics, rage, and intensity.
Comprised of Alistair Lisle (Vocals), Jonny Stern (Guitar), Isaac Edwards (Bass and Backing Vocals), and Corey Bennett (Drums), TRENDKILL come at you from the North East of England. Formed in 2014 as initially just a garage cover band, it didn’t take the metal upstarts long to realise that they had the drive and dexterity to forge their own unique path.
By 2016, TRENDKILL put out their debut release, EP One, which helped to place the youngsters firmly on the map. Many reviews, streams and sales were acquired, along with an invitation to tour throughout the UK, which included a thunderous slot at Bloodstock Festival. The quartet backed their debut EP with the release of their sophomore EP, Black Moon. The record again moved the burly metallers forward, earning them much praise and acclaim. Original vocalist Elliot Bartram, however, departed the group in 2019, and after an extensive search, TRENDKILL recruited new friend and powerhouse vocalist, Alistair Lisle. The band marked their triumphant return last year in supreme style by dropping their new single, Struck From Existence.
The foursome are set to take 2021 by the scruff of the neck, and they are loaded up with their strongest track to date, Obsession. The single is a fury of thrash, groove, and metal, wrapped around anthemic hooks and peppered with contemporary lyrical themes. The band elaborate: "The theme behind Obsession is addiction, whether it's sex, food, drugs or even social media. Addiction is a very real and dominating issue in many people's lives, possibly even more so now during a time where we're all trying to cope through a particularly challenging time”.
With further material on the way, and with the addition of a new management team, Unearthed Music Management, the future is looking very bright.
TRENDKILL on line https://www.facebook.com/trendkilluk/ https://www.instagram.com/trendkilluk https://open.spotify.com/artist/17CBF3HaWk5eWspmlRdK6A https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC973EnMYXEhaNBXVD4WeOsQ
Obsession reminds me of classic Dream theatre, the track starts with a really nice acoustic opening and slowly builds from this foundation into a full on assault of crushing vocals for the chorus which is met with a crushing riff, for me about halfway through Obbession is really where this goes into another life, fast paced guitars with crushing solos with amazing drums beats to match we have gone back to the late 80’s where thrash was king and that’s exactly what Obsession sounds like it’s a mixture of pure brilliance of melody and harmony matched with power and thrash, this is another track that is out of this world.
Friday, April 30th, 2020 - (Los Angeles) - Canadian metal outfit and one of this year's hottest break out bands, Spritbox have released a brand new song "Circle With Me" today on Rise Records . The track features the glorious combination of ethereal vocals, bombastic riffs and savage screams that make up the utterly unique Spiritbox calling card. It is accompanied by a gorgeous music video directed by Orie McGinness, that perfectly compliments the lyrical theme of the song with a constantly revolving shot around the band as they perform. Listen to "Circle With Me" here and watch the video here or by clicking the image below. Speaking about the new track, Courtney LaPlante shares
"This song was written in the studio as a last minute addition, one of the many reasons we are so grateful to no longer be exclusively working remotely. It captures the spectrum of emotions I’ve been feeling lately about my music. From the anxiety I feel about messing up, to a confidence meant to protect me from self doubt. Visually, we wanted to present the viewer with the image of us that we miss the most: us performing on stage, with nothing to hide behind: instruments, some lights, and beautiful camera movement."
“Circle With Me” follows the band's two break-out, hit singles released last year - the heartbreaking and otherworldly "Constance" and the unrelentingly brutal "Holy Roller". Between them, they have clocked up a staggering 18 million streamsto date, with "Holy Roller" debuting at #25 on Billboard's Hot Hard Rock Songs and spending 7 weeks at #1 on SiriusXM Liquid Metal's "Devil's Dozen" with the remix version of the song feat. Ryo Kinoshita of Crystal Lake spending 5 weeks at #2.
Spiritbox recently finished work on their debut album which is slated for release later this year. ABOUT SPIRITBOX
The husband and wife duo Courtney LaPlante and Michael Stringer made their debut with a self-released EP in October 2017, quickly building a cult following. In 2018 the duo found their musical counterpart in bass player Bill Crook and partnered with Pale Chord Music to continue to create and release music in single and EP formats and in Fall of 2020, signed with globally renowned label Rise Records.
Spiritbox have quickly become hotly tipped as one of the most exciting, creative and unique new forces to erupt from the world of heavy music. Pushing boundaries both sonically and visually with their beautifully haunting music videos that perfectly match the the juxtaposition of the ethereal, velvet textures of Courtney's singing voice and the visceral, rageful power of her screams as they soar over complex soundscapes that ebb and flow between brutally heavy riffing and and progressive, other worldly electronic-tinged passages.
Drawing their name from a device that some believe is capable of communing with the ldead, the band have a paranormal undertone that runs through everything they do, using EVP (electronic voice phenomena) recordings both at their live shows and within their tracks. A quick look at the music videos for fan favorites such as Belcarra, Blessed Be and Rule of Nines and it's clear to see that the band are no strangers to the macabre or paranormal.
Having toured the world many times over with their previous bands - metal outfit iwrestledabearonce (Courtney and Mike) and pop punk band Living With Lions (Bill) - Spiritbox absorbed the highs and lows of living as working musicians and decided to try a different and more sustainable approach when it came to releasing their music. They took the concept of supply and demand and applied it to their release model, focusing on making fans across the globe by using the social media tools available to them, releasing shorter bodies of music and removing touring from the plan until a demand was built. In doing so they quickly garnered a cult-like online following which has lead to over 66.6 million streams across all platforms and sell outs on every physical release and most merch items they've released to date.
In Feb of 2020 Spiritbox jumped on a plane and finally went on tour in support of After The Burial across Europe, which was unfortunately cut short due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Despite having to return to Canada early, Spiritbox have remained busy - recording the two new music, shooting the accompanying videos, launching their Patreon and working on their debut LP expected out later this year. The band are also scheduled to perform on major festival line-ups across Europe including Reading & Leeds, Download, Rock am Ring and Rock im Park. SPIRTBOX

A lot is being said about these guys rightly so you could say never mind trees being pulled up acres of forests are in this band’s sights. The guys have just unleashed Circle with Me, and in all honesty, I get why there so much of a spotlight on these guys right now. Circle With Me straight will hit you in the chest a real punch to the chest with the guitars will be felt, there is plenty of melody here in the chorus as it has a natural fit I really Love Courtney vocals as she can easily go from clean to growls in her vocals. LITTLE TRIGGERS new and single and release a brand new video for the new track ‘FEED ME’ 6 November 2020
Check out the single here https://youtu.be/SPpipaxDCUc
About the band LITTLE TRIGGERS are two piece from Liverpool With two Led by singer and guitarist Tom Hamilton and drummer Jay Radcliffe
ACCLAIMED BRIT ROCKERS REVEAL NEW VIDEO ‘FEED ME’! LITTLE TRIGGERS have just released their strikingly provocative video, Feed Me - https://youtu.be/SPpipaxDCUc Targeted to depict cooperate consumerism, environmental neglect, and our government’s inaction to provide meals for the vulnerable, the video is a powerful and extremely relevant statement. The track lands on all streaming sites and platforms on Friday 6th November. Emerging two-piece LITTLE TRIGGERS channel influences spanning from The Who through to Queens Of The Stone Age. Still in their early twenties, Tom Hamilton (lead vocals & guitars) and Jay Radcliffe (drums & backing vocals) have a maturity that surpasses their youth. To date, they have already toured throughout the UK, Europe and China, and have shared stages with the likes of Iggy Pop and Temples. LITTLE TRIGGERS’ debut album, Loaded Gun, landed in 2019 and soon lit up the UK rock scene. Classic Rock Magazine backed the rocksters with a full-page feature, review and a position on the publication’s cover CD. Planet Rock playlisted the single, So Fine, for their New Rock Show, and the band picked up widespread support from Total Rock, BBC Introducing, and Louder, where they were awarded with two Track Of the Week slots. The rock ‘n’ roll newcomers also graced many Spotify curated prominent playlists, including All New Rock and Rock The World. Towards the end of the year, LITTLE TRIGGERS were once again featured in Classic Rock Magazine, appearing on their Cover CD. The new year started with a bang, and the twosome hit the road in February with a massively successful 12 date UK tour. After revising touring plans due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the duo turned their attention to writing and creating new material. This Spring, LITTLE TRIGGERS dropped Burn to enthusiastic support. Louder/Classic Rock Magazine again included the band as part of their Tracks Of The Week features, and Wyatt Wendels once more added the twosome to his esteemed New Rock Show on Planet Rock. The single also racked up critical acclaim from a slew of radio stations across the world, as well as adorning a glut of Spotify playlists. The band now have another single on the horizon and it’s an out and out stunner. Boasting ferocious riffs, a killer hook and inspired by our societies’ rampant consumerism, Feed Me is a bold declaration. Tom Hamilton comments: "Feed Me is inspired by the failure of our leaders to protect our planet and its people from the rampant corporate greed that is at the root of issues such as hunger, poverty and racism. I wrote the song after watching TV and social media explode with anger and fear over the Summer. The main image I had was of the planet being eaten up by greed. It is hugely ironic that, as the single is being released, the UK is in the grip of a Government scandal over its refusal to feed our own children.” Tom adds: “That's why we have decided to donate all proceeds from the single to food bank charities in our home city of Liverpool." With further singles, an EP, and tour dates penned for 2021, LITTLE TRIGGERS are primed to break out to the masses.

My thoughts Feed me is packed with a 60-70’s sounding grove and riff a blistering opening, with just over 3 minutes of hooks and fun but, a strong melodic song, my personally highlight is the groovy blues backdown in the middle, overall a great track very well produced so much energy and fun.
Onto the next band
Onto our next Glass Waves new single Do it again out now
About the band RISING ALT-ROCKERS REVEAL NEW SINGLE & MORE! Alt Rock newcomers GLASS WAVES have just dropped a firecracker of a single entitled Do It Again Channeling influences from the likes of Don Broco and Queens of The Stone Age, through to Bring Me The Horizon, GLASS WAVES dispatch energetic alternative rock merged with captivating riffs and gloriously anthemic hooks. Based in Liverpool and North Wales, the newly formed fivesome consist of Bryn Williams (Lead Vocals / Synth), Tomos Gashe (Rhythm Guitar), Sion Jones (Lead guitar / Backing Vocals), Dewi Williams (Bass) and Sion Roberts (Drums). The crew originally bonded through their mutual desire to craft passionate music, framed by candid lyrics that examines real life topics that affect the world around us. Although this is a brand-new venture, all members from the band are seasoned musicians and have toured throughout the UK. GLASS WAVES have just released their engrossing new single Do It Again. Recorded and produced by Rich James Roberts at his Ferlas Studio in Wales, the track has already attracted attention and support from BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, a glut of websites, and has garnered strong grass roots radio airplay. The single has also been added to a plethora of Spotify playlists. The band comment about the track: “The story behind the song is about our own experience of mental health. The track is written about the experience of personal lows and breaking the stigma of mental health in men. As a whole, the band aren’t afraid of talking about the real issues going on in the world”. With further singles to follow in 2021 and the promise of a raft of UK shows for next year, GLASS WAVES are set to climb. My thoughts So will start by saying that whenever a new band from Liverpool pop up regardless of my if I have heard a note of what they are about to offer to me, I’m interested why you ask quite simply over the years wales has been a strong feeder system of giving Britain some great bands, from funeral for a friend to kids in glass houses, skindred, stereophonics, the blackout and many more, I don’t know what it is about wales perhaps people are inspired by the beautiful landscapes of wales, but it sure does give us some amazing artists and bands, Glass waves don’t disappointment with their new single do it again packed with melody and stunning tones, the track reminds a little bit of an band called kids in glass houses, it feels a bit like a track those guys would have laid down, and TBH I really like this do it again, put this on in your car put down the window and let this amazing track out, without questioning the guys take influence from some of their country’s past and present bands, this is for fans of don broco, bring me the horizon

silverstein online https://www.facebook.com/silversteinmusic https://www.instagram.com/silverstein/ https://twitter.com/silverstein http://www.silversteinmusic.com
something these guys have never failed to do is put out a record with power and energy and yet again they have done that with It’s over, a power house of a track powerful guitar with a drive and some nice riffs, met by a powerful set of vocals with and some impressive hooks, I really love this so much power and drive.
thank you as Good as Gold
next up a name that I’ve heard pretty much everywhere but not yet explored
Bob Vylan and their single GDP
Check out the video for GDP here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=st6qnWeePDY
Bob Vylan online https://www.instagram.com/bobbyvylan/ https://twitter.com/BobbyVylan
so, I have hear/seen this name Bob Vylan about for a while so now it’s time to check out what the fuss is about, GDP is a high octane track, taking cues from Fever 333 and The Prodigy, GDP is something very different on so many levels lyrically there’s a real messaged to be dived into and musically the energy form the track is so infectious I really enjoyed GDP, I’m excited to hear more and see how this progresses no doubt Bob Vylan is an exciting and sights and sounds to be seen and heard
next up this week Animals as leaders and their new single check out the video for The Problem Of others minds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOAf8YdAOqU pre order the album PARRHESIA HERE https://animalsasleaders.orgAnimals as leaders on line https://twitter.com/AnimalsAsLeader https://www.instagram.com/animalsasleaders/ https://www.facebook.com/animalsasleaders
to those that are aware of this band won’t be surprised by the fact this new track is an instrumental one, we open with really cool synth and then a lovely section of guitars which is shortly met with some thick bass lines with a real punch to the chest, and slowly we start to hear some drums come in, we then come back to the guitars which take on a world of the own, to wrap this up this is a really cool track and if I’m being honest I sometimes wonder if these type of tracks are harder to write than to a track with lyrics, it’s got a great feel to it and I’m keen to hear the rest of the album as I just wonder if this a concept album as this feels like there may be a story to it all
last up this week Dead Posey and their brand new track Sorry I’m not dead check out the video for Sorry I’m nor dead here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lN-dbQ7tSI&feature=youtu.be Dead Posey online https://open.spotify.com/artist/7qTUKYzO77RvL1Kxie0xUO?si=Pv2ain5eTFqJ6z9cqUhzbQ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcxMd8kqdXXmfIjdRLgoB3w https://www.facebook.com/deadposey/ https://twitter.com/Dead_posey https://soundcloud.com/deadposey https://www.tiktok.com/@deadposey
when I first heard Sorry I’m not dead I was getting 80’s elecontric vibes with a sprinkle of Roxette, a track packed with hooks and plenty of energy I really liked the mix between the guitars and synth, one of the things that I really enjoyed is around the 2:30 the song transforms into another layer we have some cool synth and the guitar just goes up a level with a nice guitar tone and we hear a little eruption in the chorus as Danyell lets us all hear the words won’t take it no more , let me know your thoughts I personally loved this and think it grows on you.

My thoughts Enjoying the end is A fantastic debut album from Joshua and David, as I was listening to this album I often found myself trying to pinpoint where does the album fit into scene, because honestly it has so many different directions everything form The sounds and styles of Linkin park, to Twenty one Pilots all the way through to Motley crue to electronic wizardry and influence of the Pet shop boys , there is literally something on this album for anyone, the production is crisp and clean and this album switches effortlessly between different sounds from different genres, go and check this out For fans of Twenty One Pilots, Blink 182, 30 seconds to mars
Moving on to our next single this week we have Joy in Blue who are a four piece Post hardcore band based in Portsmouth, the band launched in 2020 with the release of their debut single Old Roads which was then closely followed by their second single places. The latest release tilted sunflower is a product of the covid19 lockdown and portrays the bands emotions during this difficult time, the song is accompanied by the band’s debut video which you can check out here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkHkmIVPZrI
Check out Joy in Blue on below https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkHkmIVPZrI https://www.instagram.com/joyinblueuk/
My thoughts So this In Joy Blue 3rd single and their first with a video, , Sunflower is packed with a melodic tones and a lovely hooks, it has a really nice feel tom the track and is well produced for a large part of this track it does not changed course now this not a bad thing and out of now its kicks into life I kind of would have liked a bit more of this intensity as for most of the track it did not feel like it was going anywhere, but this would be my only criticism , its clear that this is a band that are starting their journey and that’s fine, its will be interested to see how they grow and their material develops over time., for fans of

My thoughts with an opening Riff I would expect to hear on a Deftones track and ten quickly into guitar tones I would expect to hear from Machine Head, okay so I’m not expecting none of this but I like and boarding the train, I really love the production and energy on this track, it feels like it is packed with so many different influences ranging form Machine head, Defrtones, and Linkin Park, Fever 333.I really enjoyed Lost in a wave its heavier in your face and has so much energy awesome.

29 Jun 2020 | EP 23 Grey Daze Interview with Mace Beyers 28th June 2020 | 00:40:06
On the 28th June 2020, I sat down with Mace Beyers from @Grey Daze, (Chester Bennington first band to discuss their brand new release Amends, which was released on the 26th June 2020.
We talked about the earlier shows with Chester, The recording process and their mindset during the recording of the album special guests. And what’s next for them.
For me personally I grew up loving Linkin park and When the news of Chester’s passing on the 21st July 2017, its tore me apart inside. In 2019 when Grey Daze announced that they would putting out an album with re worked songs with Chester.
I like the rest of the world waited with anticipation, and I can safely say this album is amazing, it has been done with pride, care, love and of course respect.
My focus was to simply try and do this everyone justice and #Makechesterproud #ForyouChester
I wanted this to come from a fan perspective and to be able to show respect and care with my approach to this. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did putting this together.

28 May 2021 | EP 66 Single reviews STORM THE EMPIRE, SERTRALINE, As December Falls, SpritBox, Eyes Wide Open, THE FINAL CLAUSE OF TACITUS | 00:25:45
New episode out now
I be discussing my thoughts on the below artists STORM THE EMPIRE, SERTRALINE, As December Falls,SpritBox, Eyes Wide Open, THE FINAL CLAUSE OF TACITUS
STORM THE EMPIRE on line Leap Of Faith, out now - https://youtu.be/c3Bwmewz6W8 .
https://www.tiktok.com/@stormtheempire https://www.instagram.com/stormtheempire https://www.facebook.com/StormTheEmpire https://open.spotify.com/artist/7lHJgfF2M6fh0LxXNPfaOm https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCklmIM3bnmPaHoi1t7v70FQ
Leap Of Faith well what can I say it feels like these guys are not afraid to mix pop punk with metal elements it feels like Leap of faith has this perfect blend of poppunk moments in terms of energy in the clean vocals to the screams the unclean vocals to that say of While she sleeps. Overall the track is amazing well produced and plenty of energy all the best to these guys.
SERTRALINE 2205 Link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFOZNKua2u8
SERTRALINE online: Official Website Facebook Twitter Instagram Youtube
2205 opens with this really cool riff and tone straight away I’m hooked, 2205 has this way of crossing over naturally between the lighter moments and the heavier moments of the track with little effort I really like this, it does not feel forced, the way this track switches from melody to the growls in the vocals is epic and the hooks in the chours are awesome to hear,
As December Falls Nothing On You' here: https://youtu.be/f2tq2gG2edc Pre-order Happier here: https://www.asdecemberfalls.store/collections/happier-collection For more information: https://www.asdecemberfalls.com/ https://www.facebook.com/asdecemberfalls/ https://twitter.com/AsDecemberFalls/ http://www.instagram.com/asdecemberfalls/ 'Nothing On You' here kicks off straight away with a punch and a lovely melody vocally and guitar tones, plenty of energy in this one, I love the vocal hooks in the chorus a really great single go and give this one a spin SpritBox Announce Highly Anticipated Debut Album ETERNAL BLUE Releasing On Friday, September 17th Via Rise Records Pre-Orders Available Now Here
SECRET GARDEN https://riserecords.lnk.to/EternalBlue
Spiritbox Online https://www.instagram.com/spiritboxmusic/ https://twitter.com/spiritboxband https://www.facebook.com/Spiritboxofficial/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmWxquutalJ1ZjdmWLdlhSg
thoughts on Secret Garden, I really love Spiritbox there’s a lot of hype around this band right now and rightly so they have put out their debut album pre order links and within 24 hours all the colour variants of their vinyl had sold out, Secret Garden is a more melodic approach and offers another side of the spectrum to this band, I really love the guitar tones and riff in secret garden, the melodies there’s some real energy behind secret garden I feel that its been built with this natural bounce and I love that , I will say this believe in the hype Spritbox have all the tools and more to become real stars.
Eyes Wide Open sign to Arsing Empire and announce new single Devastation' Watch the video to 'Devastation' here: https://youtu.be/_KPVJv6S_c0 Eyes Wide Open online: https://www.instagram.com/ewo_swe https://www.facebook.com/Eyes.Wide.Open.Swe https://www.e-w-o.net
Thoughts on 'Devastation' well its packed with a real punch from the word go, packed with melody hooks that hit you hard, I really like this from the drive in the vocals to the riffs and punch from the guitars, it’s a track that will go down very well as you will have your fist in the air screaming the chorus, now I wont pretend to know much about bands like Amon Amarth, Nightwish but I can hear so much of that classic Scandinavian sound, but this feels fresh its feels new and I really like it, go and check this one out.
Lastly THE FINAL CLAUSE OF TACITUS who have a brand new EP Asinine Music For The Solemn And Staid Ep out now THE FINAL CLAUSE OF TACITUS on line https://www.facebook.com/TFCOT https://open.spotify.com/artist/0TFZpjHci90btz997FqoZx
I really Love the Ep there’s a lot of different sounds going on here weather that be the bands influences from Rage Against the Machine to Linkin park to the sounds of The Beastie Boys, Its an ep packed with real punch in the guitars and thick Bass lines that remind a little bit of fle from the red hot chilli peppers, to the vocal hooks I feel there is something here for many to enjoy. A real pleasure to listen too as this is a band to keep your eyes on.
Packed with energy punch, a joy to listen too 5 stars from Setting The Tone, standout out track I can talk to you love the Beastie boys vibes crank this one up.
