01 Dec 202085. BONUS: Holiday Agent & Manager Gifts00:20:55
Typically your reps would be swimming in cookies, candy, and bottles of booze they didn’t ask for right about now. And perhaps you have convinced yourself that your delivery of overpriced wine will be the thing that gets you auditions next year. 🤔 Gifts are a nice gesture, an acknowledgment of a year of hard work together, and yet they have become so stressful and almost “required”. Especially this year as we have all probably had way less auditions and probably less (maybe zero) bookings…do we still get reps gifts? Did we ever need them? What happens if we’re “the one client” who doesn’t send one?? Don’t worry, I asked them for you so it’s not awkward. Here are the questions I sent out to ~20 busy agents and managers, mine and a lot of yours! How do you feel about holiday gifts this year? Logistically speaking…if you’re not in the office how do you get them? Would you notice if you didn’t receive them from clients? If you could tell actors anything about gifting (like do’s or don’ts, things to avoid) what would it be? Gabrielle is now my roommate and you can be sure to let Caleb and Corey know. No, but really, we have spent a LOT of time together recently and we wanted to sit down together and really get into how living with each other has given us brand new perspectives on the industry. We have each gained a better appreciation for truly how different actor’s lives can be. We are going into how we view each other’s individual journeys, our varying audition experiences, and the realization that smaller acting roles can still significantly contribute to an actor's career. That’s right: we are in a market that now values career expansion over leveling up, and if you don’t know what we’re talking about, then listen through all the way to the end and you’ll know exactly what we are probably going to be seeing in 2024 and beyond. 16 Mar 2023169. Tips & Advice For Coming Off A Not-So-Great Week Of Being An Actor00:27:12
I just had a week that was, objectively, very good. I was productive, got to go to an in-person callback audition for an indie film, and was put on avail for a national commercial. 01 Feb 2024206. Headshots According to Atlanta Photographer Chase Anderson00:28:52
We’re back with another installment in our headshot photographer miniseries with Atlanta based photographer Chase Anderson. Recommended by our resident Atlanta Queen Gabrielle Byndloss, Chase is a renowned photographer who has used his acting experience to enhance his clients session and get shots that work. In this episode we get into Chase's journey from working as a server to being a notable photographer, why being an actor influences his work as a headshot photographer, and his unique approach to his photoshoot sessions. 04 Apr 2024213. How to Readjust Your Acting Career (Part 1): Reflecting on Goals & Celebrating Victories00:23:28
We are going to do a little mini series for the both of April where we focus on resetting our goals and structuring routines. I’ve noticed and also felt the low morale we all have post-strike here in the entertainment industry, and I want to help us all get through it a little bit easier. I am going to empower you, yes you, to take charge of the areas of your life that you have influence over, not what is out of our control. Each week, I will ask you a weekly question to reflect and work on — each covering different aspects of life including financial, career, health, relationships, and mindset. I’m even going to get vulnerable and share my own reflections. Trust me, it’s so important to look back on your year while it’s happening rather than just when it is over, and make sure we are taking steps to find happiness within ourselves, even if the rest of the industry is full of chaos. Let me know what you think about this series on YouTube or on IG — help me help you help yourself! 01 Aug 2024Side Hustles, Actor Mental Health, and Avoiding Burnout | BRITTANY RIZZO’S “MY ONLY FRIENDS” PODCAST 00:24:02

We’re shaking things up today with me being the guest on Brittany Rizzo’s “My Only Friends” podcast! This is a small segment of our full hour long conversation, but it was one that really resonated with me. I openly share my mental health journey, and the way that I’ve grown to approach finances as an actor. Success is what we make it and how we define it, and there is no one way to be an actor. I get into the challenges of actor life, the pressure of constant productivity, and the impact the pursuit of this career can have on our mental health. Brittany and I also talk about the benefits of taking breaks, managing burnout, and my personal experience with anxiety medication. If you want more, be sure to check out the full episode on 'My Only Friends,' where we dive even deeper on the insecurities and pressures actors face.

They are sharing knowledge I wish I would have known years ago, and I’m bringing that to you all in this episode. They share their experiences with casting auditions, navigating the post-strike landscape, and the importance of community and mental health. In 2021 what are some realities you see creatives bumping up against? Are there some things, we can do to get our finances under control after the last year? What can we do to better prepare for this kind of random occurrence in the future? Covid changed the landscape of 1099-gig workers, it changed a lot of the creative world and brought us into the light (maybe showed the cracks in the capitalist foundation) do you think there will be some changes for the better? We are bringing back Rus Garofalo of Brass Taxes (where I personally do my taxes). He was a hit last year, and he’s back with even more tips to help us all make this terrifying time just a little bit less scary. We go into what the difficulties that come from the tax system not being designed for those in the gig economy, and answer commonly asked tax-related questions such as quarterly taxes, business write-offs, and when it's beneficial to establish an LLC or S Corp. 22 May 2025you booked the job but it didn’t change your life: Brian Unger on the real working actor experience *it hits different episode*01:04:25

originally aired april 13 2021, brian unger has been on your screen more times than you probably realize but this episode isn’t a flex. it’s a real convo about the weird limbo between being talented and being bookable. what it actually feels like to get hired. and the emotional whiplash of the audition hustle

we talk about

• how pilot season used to work and what’s changed

• why bookings don’t mean you’ve made it

• the quiet grind behind working actor life

• the surprising advice brian got that changed his entire career

this episode is a reminder that success in acting rarely looks the way you imagined it. and that one good job isn’t the whole story. a must relisten if you’re questioning your momentum or measuring your worth by your credit...

30 Sep 2021120. Decision Fatigue + Three Ways to Fight It00:19:08
As actors, we have to make countless decisions every single day. How much energy will I give my day job today? What part of my career am I going to work on when I'm not auditioning? Should I reach out to my representation since I haven't heard from them in a while? The more obligations we have, the more decisions we need to make, and the more drained we become as the day goes on. If we're not careful about pacing ourselves through all of these little choices, we can easily become burnt out and not able to tackle the fun, creative acting decisions asked of us for auditions. In this week's episode, I talk about this exact problem. While there may not be a perfect system that permanently solves decision fatigue, I do have some tips that have helped me. I share my morning routine, how I've streamlined my audition process, and how I use any free time that I may have. I also discuss my "Someday, Maybe" list and how invaluable it has been in organizing all the little things that need to get done (Like uploading my auditions to Dropbox!). We'll always have decisions to make, but I hope that these tips can help give you the mental breathing room that they have given me in my day-to-day actor life. 27 Apr 2023174. My Relationship to My Own Body as an Actress00:30:23
TW: Body Dysmorphia + Disordered Eating My relationship to my body has been a lifelong uphill battle. There are so many moments in my life where I have just felt absolutely disconnected to what my body really looks like. After years and years and years of eating disorders and body dysmorphia, I have finally gotten to a place where I am happy with where I am. I fuel my body, I take care of it, and I have learned how to engage in the pursuit of acting without the toxic Hollywood ideal of becoming ever-thinner. This episode was immensely personal and vulnerable for me to share, especially as I look back on an article that dove into what 2017 Sam believed to be a healthy relationship with food. Let me know if this helped you in some way, and how you have learned to take care of yourselves and your body as an actor in this business. 01 Jun 2023177. Mini Ep: BOSCH Star DaJuan Johnson on The Writer's Strike, Residuals, and The Long Game00:16:31
In this mini-episode, DaJuan Johnson and I discuss the WGA Writer's Strike and the possibility of a SAG-AFTRA strike as SAG heads into negotiations in June. We have a full sit-down talk coming, but we wanted to share this segment early because we believe it could help energize the acting community ahead of the SAG Strike vote. We get really transparent about our paychecks, the importance of actors receiving residuals, and why we believe the strike is necessary to continue doing what we love while also being able to pay our bills.
