02 Sep 2022 | Episode 199: Developing TrustED Leadership with Dr. Toby Travis | 00:31:31
Want to become more heart-centered? We invite you to join us on Deb’s Dailies (daily blog and newsletter), a daily reflection of living and loving life as a heart-centered leader. Dr. Toby Travis is the founder of TrustED, a framework for business, organization, and school improvement focused on developing trusted leaders. In addition, he is an Executive Consultant with the Global School Consulting Group, an Adjunct Professor for the International Graduate Program of Educators for the State University of New York College at Buffalo, and an experienced teacher and school administrator, currently serving as the Superintendent of the Village Christian Academy in Fayetteville, NC. Toby has a story of working in a highly dysfunctional and toxic environment, and through the implementation of intentional action steps, the organization experienced its most thriving and peak years of mission-fulfillment while also experiencing a sense of community well-being. According to decades of research, trusted leadership is the number one indicator of successful businesses, organizations, and schools. Yet, very few businesses, organizations, or schools intentionally invest in developing trust in their leaders as a means to drive mission fulfillment. Dr. Travis has developed resources for assessing the trust level of leaders. The data from the leadership assessment is utilized to inform individualized professional development action plans and customized training grounded in research-validated and practice-based methods, which, when implemented, increase the level of trust in leaders - and measurable business, organization, or school improvement. As a guest speaker, trainer, and consultant, his work has taken him throughout the United States and Europe, South Asia, Central, and South America. Dr. Travis is the author of the award-winning book “TrustED: The Bridge to School Improvement” - available at Amazon, featured in Forbes, and named “Book of The Month” (November), and nominated for “Book of The Year” (2021) by The Magic Pen. 13 Jan 2023 | Episode 217: Trauma-informed Change Leadership with Dr. Mary Jo Burchard | 00:27:54
Want to become more heart-centered? We invite you to join us on Deb’s Dailies (daily blog and newsletter), a daily reflection on living and loving life as a heart-centered leader. Dr. Mary Jo Burchard is a change leadership coach and consultant currently living in Virgian Beach, VA. MJ’s journey started in higher ed, teaching organizational leadership. During that time, she and her husband adopted a little boy from Ukraine, whose childhood involved more surgeries than grades. This experience shaped her understanding of what impact belonging has on being able to tell the truth about who we are, what we need, and the power of caring deeply enough about people to accept them fully as they are. Her doctoral work involved the impact of high-octane altruistic leaders who are impacted by unprocessed trauma. She noticed that these kinds of people tend to pour everything into their role and let the rest of their personhood become dormant. 09 Mar 2022 | Episode 172: Decoding What Storytelling Is & Isn’t with Richard Newman | 00:27:49
This episode is sponsored by Davwill Consulting. Emotional agility? Yep, it's needed more now than ever. Let's chat! Click Here Richard Newman is an award-winning writer and in-demand speaker with expertise in leadership communication, storytelling, mindset, and personal impact. Richard is the Founder and CEO of Body Talk, a global leader in evidence-based communication training. Since 2000, Richard and his team have trained 100,000 people worldwide, with clients from 46 countries. In the new hybrid world, there are more ways to communicate than ever before, but finding true connection and engagement still eludes many of us. Without the ability to effectively engage an audience and inspire action, new ideas struggle to be implemented, adding frustration and failure to the workplace. Richard transforms that failure into success, helping one client gain over $1 Billion in new business and winning 100% of the pitches he coached them on by applying the breakthrough strategies he teaches. Richard began his communication journey by living in a Tibetan monastery in India for six months, teaching English to monks. Body language and voice skills suddenly became absolutely essential to Richard’s work, as the monks spoke no English when he arrived, so they had to communicate non-verbally. When he returned to the UK, Richard continued to study advanced communication skills while working as an actor on stage and screen. In 2000, Richard combined his passion for communication with his love of storytelling when he founded UK Body Talk Limited. Over the next 21 years, Richard and his team developed a new, science-backed coaching method designed to create real and practical results. Richard’s breakthrough research on communication has been published in the Journal of Psychology. Richard’s clients include CEOs, Vice-Presidents and leadership teams across many industries, including Virgin, Expedia, NYU, Microsoft, and 3M. Richard documented his journey in his best-selling book, You Were Born to Speak, which debuted at #1 on Amazon for both Kindle and Hardback. In 2014, Richard was the recipient of the Cicero Grand Award, the most coveted prize in the world for speechwriting. Connect with Richard at:

14 Jan 2022 | Episode 157: Propelling Ourselves to Be Better with David Mead | 00:22:38
This episode is sponsored by Davwill Consulting. Emotional agility? Yep, it's needed more now than ever. Let's chat! Click Here David Mead believes work can be something we want to do, not just something we have to do. And most often, what determines our experience at work is culture. David helps leaders and organisations bridge the gap between the culture they talk about and the culture others actually experience. That culture congruence leads to trust, human connection, innovation, performance, and sustainable progress. David began his career in corporate training in 2004. In 2009 he joined speaker and author Simon Sinek’s team. For the next 10 years, as the first of Simon’s “Igniters”, David helped share Simon’s simple, inspiring ideas through speaking and workshops to over 225 companies on 5 continents. In 2017, David applied his years of practical experience and learning and co-authored, with Peter Docker and Simon Sinek, Find Your Why: a practical guide for discovering the WHY of an individual, team, or organisation. It has sold over 400,000 copies and is translated into 25 different languages. In December 2019, David chose to step away from Simon’s team to focus on opportunities to take a more active role in guiding leaders to transform their cultures for the long term. Through speaking, training, consulting, and other avenues, David brings a relatable, human approach to leadership. He shares simple, practical, everyday tools leaders can use to create positive change for themselves and those around them. Throughout his career, David has seen and experienced leadership at both ends of the spectrum and what a difference authentic, human-centered leadership can make in how people feel about and experience their work. David earned an MBA in 2011. He concentrated his course work on Organisational Development as much as possible in order to be better equipped to help leaders create environments in which trust, human connection, and sustainable performance are natural results.
