| Cavalry prepares for Supra, Leah Blayney talks about rebuilding the Calgary Wild | 06 nov. 2026 | 00:39:39 | |
We talk about Cavalry FC's second leg playoff match vs Supra at Spruce Meadows on Saturday afternoon. The Cavs have been playing a bunch of "must win" matches recently, but for this one it's literal. They have to win to advance to the CPL Final. We also talk about Cavalry players nominated for league awards. Our interview is with Calgary Wild head coach Leah Blayney. We talked about her career as a player and coach, what attracted her to the Wild job and how she felt about the last couple months of the season. For the podcast we have an abridged version of our interview with Leah. There is an "extended edit" version of the interview which is about 27 minutes long (about 9 minutes more than this version) that will be available on our YouTube channel this weekend. A lot of Calgarians made USports and ACAC all star team and won individual awards. We review who garnered these awards. | No treats on a woeful Halloween weekend for Calgary soccer teams | 02 nov. 2026 | 00:27:44
We review the first leg of the Cavalry FC vs Supra from Sunday afternoon. The Cavs seemed a bit shocked as Supra came out of the gates flying and scored two quick goals and ultimately won 2-1. Only the Dinos men won their first match on Friday night, but they lost on Sunday to Alberta and their season is over, just like all the other post-secondary teams. Both MRU Cougars teams were defeated, but perhaps the biggest upset was the Dinos women loss to Victoria on Friday night SAIT Trojans mens and womens both lost in their semi-final matches to Concordia and found themselves in bronze medal matches. | CPL Shield on the line as Cavalry hosts Vancouver FC | 23 oct. 2026 | 00:26:33
All of Calgary's high-level teams currently playing are finishing their regular season schedules this weekend. We preview all of those matches. Cavalry FC plays Vancouver FC on Sunday afternoon at Spruce Meadows. It's pretty simple for Cavalry: win and you get to lift a trophy after the final whistle. But Vancouver won't make it easy as they always play the Cavs tough and they are still fighting for their playoff lives. We speculate who could start in midfield and if Forge's championship victory earlier this week will help motivate the Cavs. Going into the final Canada West weekend of the season, we know that all four Calgary based clubs will be in the postseason. The only team that doesn't know their exact placing yet are the MRU Cougars women's team. We preview the matches, including a relatively anticlimactic Crowchild Classic II men's edition. The SAIT Trojans and Ambrose Lions play another derby match to end their regular seasons. The men's match has huge implications for both the Trojans and the Lions. The Trojans still have a shot at first and the Lions still have not secured their playoff spot. We also discuss the Calgary Wild's final match of the season as they go west to play the Vancouver Rise. Subscribe to our Substack or follow us on Twitter/X or on Instagram or Bluesky.
