Seven Samurai

dimanche 25 août 2024Duration 50:29

James had never seen Akira Kurosawa’s legendary epic, ‘Seven Samurai’, so he watched it with Dan and they recorded a podcast about it.

In this episode, they explore its groundbreaking cinematography, rich storytelling, and profound impact on cinema and discuss why this 1954 masterpiece still holds up in today’s world of filmmaking and consider whether its influence on Star Wars should have resulted in a more honest title for George Lucas’s classic: … ‘Space Samurai’.

'The Wicker Man' & 'Don't Look Now' Double Bill

dimanche 30 juillet 2023Duration 58:09

In 1973 ‘Don’t Look Now’ and ‘The Wicker Man’ were released in the UK as a double feature, with the cult classic ‘The Wicker Man’ as the supporting picture to the main release of Nicolas Roeg’s ‘Don’t Look Now’.

James (who’s 16) had never seen either of these horror classics before, so we watched them back-to-back (with a 15-minute intermission) and recorded a podcast about the experience.

Why are there so many parallels between the two films and does watching them as a double bill impact your overall opinion of each?

Warning: As these films are 50 years old, we talk openly about their twists and key plot points.
