Sister Michelle Elizabeth's Journey of Faith and Vocation13 Dec 202400:43:05

Send us a text

Ever wondered how a simple act of service can change the course of your life? Join us as Sister Michelle Elizabeth, originally from Staten Island, shares her compelling journey from a nominally Catholic upbringing to a life of faith and service in Davenport, Iowa. Sister Michelle opens up about finding solace and a sense of belonging as an altar server during turbulent times at home. Her mother's illness, intertwined with her own growing faith, set her on a path that would later include pivotal moments of loss and reconnection during a retreat at a convent.

Sister Michelle's story takes a fascinating turn when she takes a break from college to explore her religious vocation, only to find herself drawn back to academic life before an encounter with the SALT program reignites her spiritual curiosity. Discover how this summer service experience, alongside a nurturing community of sisters, nudged her towards a discernment retreat that brought clarity and peace. The emotional journey of contemplation, decision-making, and the courage to send in her SALT program application unfolds with honesty and vulnerability.

As Advent approaches, Sister Michelle invites us to reflect on the power of stillness and community in our own spiritual journeys. She shares heartfelt stories of finding purpose through service and the profound impact of recognizing Jesus in others. With her hope for a more interconnected Church, Sister Michelle's insights offer a beacon of unity and encouragement to embrace the strength found in service and relationships. Tune in to be inspired by her unwavering commitment to a life of faith and the lessons she's learned along the way.

Learn to Pray with André Regnier12 Dec 202400:48:04

Send us a text

What happens when a pivotal conversation sparks a journey of transformation? On our latest episode, we sit down with André Regnier, co-founder of Catholic Christian Outreach, to uncover the profound impact of rekindling one's faith. André shares how a simple exchange with a girlfriend in 1982 became the catalyst for a deep spiritual awakening, reshaping his understanding of living a truly Catholic life. His story is filled with relatable anecdotes, like how a friend's unwavering commitment to attend Mass stirred in him a profound renewal of faith.

Listeners will gain insights into the transformative power of daily prayer and the art of saying "yes" in both faith and relationships. We discuss the invaluable lesson of continuous commitment, drawing parallels between marriage and a life devoted to Christ. André and I take inspiration from Our Lady's fiat, exploring how her unwavering "yes" has profoundly influenced Catholic Christian Outreach's mission. Together, we introduce a groundbreaking booklet and video series dedicated to teaching the mechanics of prayer, aiming to guide individuals toward cultivating a meaningful and consistent prayer life.

We also delve into the essence of prayer as an intimate conversation with God, likening it to engaging dialogue in a bustling coffee shop. In the midst of life's distractions, we highlight the importance of prioritizing prayer as a vital part of daily life, especially for those with hectic schedules. Whether it's through small, heartfelt offerings or setting aside intentional time each morning, we explore how maintaining a dialogue with God enhances awareness of His presence throughout the day. Join our conversation for a refreshing perspective on sharing life with God through prayer, transforming casual chats into moments of divine connection.

"Life with the Lord, once I surrendered it all to Him, has been a wild yet faithful ride. Wild, in that giving Him my “fiat” has led me all over the world on mission with Him, to explore religious life with the @mglsisters and attend @bssmredding as a Catholic. And, faithful, in that He’s never left my side no matter how faithful or faithless I’ve been to Him. He’s carried me through disasters like earthquakes, and heartache, set me free from addiction and called me Beloved the whole time. Right now life with Jesus at 29 looks like living in Australia, and creatively sharing the Jesus I know through the ministry @saltandgoldcollection . I’m desperate for the world to know the Jesus I’ve met!"

"This led me to work for the church upon graduation, deciding that the best way for me to be a saint would be by actively preaching the gospel through my day-to-day life, in a very concrete way. This work has taken on many different looks over the past seven years, but the basis has remained the same. In some capacity, my day-to-day job has allowed me the space and opportunity to preach Christ Jesus very explicitly and for that, I am forever grateful."

"I laugh about my story now and not only how funny God is but how patient. There were many times I firmly believed I knew what was in my best interest. Many times where I thought I had everything planned out. Thinking about it now I smile as I sit at my desk working to lead young people to know the Lord in their parishes and youth groups. My same diocese I doubted and came to know the Lord many years ago as a teenager. I learned that my life truly belongs to Him and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Fifteen year old Chenele would have not believed me but God has an amazing sense of humor."
