What happens in the heavens and the graves on Laylatul Qadr?

The angels fill the skies, and destinies are written. The living pray for mercy, while the dead long for one more chance. But this night isn’t just for us—its blessings reach beyond. Just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not working. Your du’a can strengthen the feet of the oppressed, ease a soul in the grave, or even shift history itself. The martyrs of Gaza may not have seen the victory they set in motion, just as Sumayya (ra) never saw Mecca embrace Islam. But in the Barzakh, they may be greeted with news of their impact.

And what about your loved ones who have passed? The Prophet ﷺ said du’a reaches them like gifts of light, easing burdens and raising ranks.

The dead with regrets have one wish in regard to this world: to return to it and make just two more rak'ahs of prayer.

The dead who have communicated their joy to us testify to the same source of joy, over and over: salah. Prostration. Worshiping Allah in the depths of the night. So often overlooked in this life, prayer is a gift from Allah. And when we prioritize it the way we prioritize the trivial aspects of our days, then the reward will be not just bountiful, but infinte.

Zina is a pathway to destruction. It starts with a glance, a conversation, a moment of indulgence, and before you know it, you’re trapped in an unrelenting fire. The Prophet ﷺ described the terrifying fate of those who let their desires consume them—a blazing oven in the Barzakh, where regret burns as fiercely as the flames themselves.

But the struggle against temptation isn't without reward. Those who hold on to their faith and protect their chastity in a world filled with desires are promised the shade of Allah on the Day of Judgment. Debt doesn’t leave with your body—it follows you into the Barzakh. The soul remains suspended until its dues are settled, held back from its final destination. If unpaid debts weigh so heavily, what about the burden of riba (interest)? The Prophet ﷺ saw its punishment—people drowning in a river of blood, never reaching the shore. Meanwhile, charity multiplies your wealth in this life and builds your home in the next.

Will your deeds save you, or will they betray you?

What home are you building for your soul? We know that our homes in Jannah is built by our deeds, but do we stop to think that it's the same for our graves?

We spend our lives decorating homes we will leave behind, while neglecting the home we will live in forever. The grave is only the beginning, your first taste of what awaits. For some, it will expand with light and fragrance, a refuge of comfort. For others, it will tighten until it crushes the soul, sealing them in torment.

Your grave is as wide as your deeds and as deep as your devotion. Will it be a garden of peace, or a prison of regret?

What happens to the children whose lives were stolen before they’ve even begun? 

We’ve wept over Reem and Wadea, and were haunted by Hind’s final cries, and to the countless children who were lost among thousands of names of those martyred, we wonder how this injustice could continue. While we grapple with their losses, and pray for their parents, Allah comforts us with the knowledge that they are nurtured, embraced, and waiting in a realm where injustice cannot reach them. Their names may fade from the headlines, but they will never fade from the mercy of the Most Merciful.

How many nights have you lost sleep over the horrors inflicted by cowards in power? How much rest has been stolen from the innocent, burned and broken by the hands of human devils? And how many times have you wished—just once—that it was the tyrants who were tormented instead?

The martyrs have a message for us. Their souls have ascended beyond the ruins of this world, flying free in Jannah, comforted by divine justice. The oppressors, no matter how untouchable they seem, are already trapped in the torment of the Barzakh, their agony only beginning.

Justice is inevitable. The martyrs are at peace, but our struggle continues.

What happens when you die? 

There is no greater pressure in life than the moment of death. The angels will come. Your soul will be pulled from your body, with ease or with force. And you will face the greatest test of your existence. But if you held firm to faith in this life, you will answer with certainty:

My Lord is Allah. My religion is Islam. My Prophet is Muhammad ﷺ.

So hold on tight. The test will come when you least expect it. Will you be ready?

How many lives do you really have? You may be breathing, but is your soul already dead? Have you fed your body while starving your heart?

Spiritual death is more terrifying than physical death. The Qur'an reminds us that just as Allah brings the dead earth back to life, so too can He revive your soul. So how many times have you killed your heart, and how many times can you bring it back? Once you take your final breath, your chance for rebirth is over. So, will you wait for the grave to realize whether you ever truly lived? Or will you revive your soul while you still have time?

"Seeing is believing"—but what if you've never seen Allah?

How do you draw near to the One who is closer to you than your own soul? Every time you recite the Qur’an, He speaks to you. Every time you pray, He responds. Every time you call upon Him, He listens.

But do you speak to Him enough to recognize His voice? One day, your vision will be sharpened, and you will see Him as clearly as the full moon in the night sky. But will you wait until then to truly seek Him? Or will you recognize His signs now and begin your journey toward Him today?

Do you wish to see the Prophet ﷺ in your dream?

What would it be like to see his smile, hear his voice, and be in his presence? The Prophet ﷺ continues to appear in the dreams of the faithful. From the woman in Gaza who foresaw tragedy, to scholars and warriors who received his reassurance, these visions have carried the ummah through generations. But you don’t need to have lived with him to connect with him.

Do your dreams have meaning? Are your dreams mere reflections of your thoughts, or whispers from the unseen?

Did you know that you have another name—a spiritual identity? We spend our lives building a name for ourselves in hopes for recognition and admiration, but the name that truly matters isn’t the one people call you here. It's the one you're known by in the heavens.

The Prophet ﷺ said that every servant has a reputation in the heavens. Some names are earned by deeds, some given by Allah, and some lost to hypocrisy. The world may call you one thing, but what is your name with Allah? Are you remembered among the angels or completely unknown in the realm that truly counts?

No one lowers themselves for God except that He raises them. No position brings you closer to Allah than sujood, the state of prostration.
