I'm SO STOKED to have another returning artist-guest & a super cool dude back on the show to chop it up! It's Michigan-based artist, Lil Petey Puro / @Gotch_Style_Bong_Rips! This super-talented & unique fellow wrasslin' art-dudes' weird, lowbrow, skate vibes wrestling-art illustrations always make my eyes so darned happy!

A super fun, free-flowing, all-over-the-place chat is had. From all of our different, very similar wrasslin' interests, to some process stuff, outlooks, cool stuff along the journey & everything in between. Petey is just such a good dude! ECW, All Japan, 2000s WCW, Misfits & of course, TERRY FUNK! What a time!!

II" AND our Chris Things Art "Match of the Week" w/ my dear pal, Bradley, talking the bloody GREAT G1 Climax match that was Zack Sabre Jr. vs Gabe Kidd! I thought this actually all came together to be maybe the best episode of this podcast yet. I think I captured the 'Wrestling Club' fun, live experience a bit better this time round. A way fun little chat is had with the always thoughtful Bradley (who actually also did his own special version of the MOTW art which I've JUST shared in my insta story). In my intro monologue, I talk my latest happenings & get a little deep about the bumps in the road that we experience with this art stuff & how to overcome & keep chugging along.

These were just such a blast to ramble about. We talk the matches, the art, our wrestling-hangs of days gone by, the launch of 'Wrestling-Club', our much-loved Brewski bar that is sadly closing down & much hearty appreciation of Lance Russell & the Funker. Such a fun time!

In my opening monologue, I talk a bit about the upcoming 'Way of the Blade' part II: The AEW Edition! As we inch closer to the big book release, I give a little insight to the process & timelines of book illustration & this way-fun project!

In today's episode, after catching y'all up on my recent comings & goings, we travel to my opening speech of the event, followed by some fun audio grabs from some of what was played on the evening. For future events, I'll endeavour to capture a bit more of that live audio magic of the evening. But as the first go-around I was just very chuffed all-round! It's our Chris Things Art "Match of the Week" Edition w/ the esteemed Unkle of Beeks back for a 'DOUBLE-HEADER' episode talking the tremendous combination that is Big Van VADER vs Riki Choshu (from 1989 New Japan) & Masato Tanaka vs Muhammad Yone (from earlier this year in NOAH)! Two matches linked by their truly beautiful level of gruff ass-beating & general violence. We also chat a whole bunch of nonsense as you'd expect - including another dog run-in, this time actually peeing on Jeremey's bed MID-SHOW!!

In my 'World of Chris-Things' intro monologue I chat about the terrifying amount of things that I have coming up on my Chris Things Art events schedule over the next week. Terrifying but exciting times friends!

AUDIO NOTE: A 'SEVERE' audio warning on this one pals. As I was recording the bulk of this episode in a bit of a rush (with all of the things I have going on right now), I unfortunately did not discover until after recording that our weird static issue came back on my audio for most of the M.O.T.W. chat. I'm really sorry about it friends! I tried to edit as much of it out as I could but a significant amount remains. If that kind of thing annoys you, please feel free to give this one a skip. It's really unfortunate because other than that, I think this might be one of our best episodes yet!

Wrestling Art Ep. 37 - Chris Things MOTW w/ Brad: American Dragon vs Shingo

Episode 37 is here pals! It's our Chris Things Art "Match of the Week" Edition w/ my dear friend (& fellow American Dragon aficionado), Bradley, talking the INCREDIBLE Bryan Danielson vs Shingo bout - not from this past week, but 14 years ago in Dragon Gate USA! So here's the deal, we watched the DGUSA edition as a primer for the big AEW rematch & for a variety of reasons (as we discuss), the Forbidden Door edition just couldn't reach the lofty heights of the original. So this ended up a more 'compare & contrast' look at both. Still two VERY fine professional wrestling matches might I say! Hopefully this is an interesting listen for anyone who's caught both of these matches. Chock full of glowing praise for 2 of the very best wrasslers still to this day in the American Dragon & Shingo Takagi! We also have some amusing nonsense sidebars such as a look at Ring of Honor's tin guardrails of death (that I'm still very fond of) & Robert Rodiriguez' Mariachi Trilogy.

In my intro "Latest in the world of Chris Things" segment, I talk being very excited for the upcoming Forge Forward Mini Mall Art-Market here in Brisbane, some fun commission work & some more of my Way of the Blade illustration flashbacks - including the very first illustration that I did for the book!
