Ep. 136: "I can't participate in Creighton" -- Anna's Story13 Sep 202400:19:44

While cycle charting is for every woman, some women experience medical or hormonal conditions that seem to prevent them from participating. Anna shares her story of feeling disqualified from fertility awareness options and how her interaction with this podcast and Woven Natural Fertility Care radically transformed her relationship with her body, her cycles, and her health journey. We're grateful to Anna for sharing her story!

NOTE: This episode is appropriate for all audiences.

GUEST BIO:  Anna was born and raised in Colorado in an era when boredom was best kept at bay by playing outside with her 5 siblings. She enjoys being outside to this day. Hiking and gardening with her husband (Zach) ranks high on her favorite activities. The threw-line in her career arch is a desire to be helpful and to see people flourish. This led her to complete her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Colorado Christian University and her most recent adventure as a FertilityCare Practitioner Intern.

Ep. 135: Can I trust Natural Birth Control? 06 Sep 202400:12:37

Switching to Natural Birth Control of some type -- like fertility awareness methods or natural family planning -- can feel really scary. How effective is natural family planning anyway? What if it doesn't work? These are fair and valid questions that every woman/couple should ask as they figure out the best option for them. But the great news is that certain forms of natural birth control, like the Creighton Model System, are incredibly effective -- 99.5% for avoiding pregnancy! -- which is higher than hormonal birth control. Still, it can feel scary to trust anything to plan your family in the timeline you'd like. Today's episode talks about this directly, as Caitlin explores how one couple's experience speaks to the reality many couples face: when it comes to family planning, who/what should we really trust? We'll explore the role our faith plays in these important questions and how to know when you can trust in your family planning.

NOTE: This episode is appropriate for all audiences.

Ep.126: Functional Fertility Treatment, with NaProTechnology OBGYN Dr. Melissa Weidert05 Jul 202400:19:31

We are big fans of NaProTechnology at Woven Well, because this unique approach investigates the root causes of reproductive health concerns like PCOS, PMS, Luteal Phase defect, and endometriosis. For many women, this restorative approach is all they need to finally get some answers and individualized care. But there are some who still have a "missing piece." This was how Dr. Melissa Weidert felt as she served a NaProTechnology OBGYN and surgeon. She loved NaPro, but knew she needed a complementary education to provide to some of her patients who still struggled. Now, she's opened her integrative health clinic and provides holistic reproductive care and fertility treatments to men and women. Utilizing hormonal panels, HTMA, bio resonance testing, mold and parasite investigation, and more, she seeks the root causes of reproductive health concerns and addresses them at their core. She joins us today to talk about this approach and how it serves men and women with reproductive health issues.

NOTE: This episode is appropriate for all audiences.

GUEST BIO:
Dr. Melissa Weidert officially launched her virtual medical practice, Fiat Fertility & Wellness, in the Fall of 2023 after many years in restorative reproductive medicine. She has a strong passion for NaProTECHNOLOGY and trained as a NaPro surgeon. Combining this knowledge with functional medicine and holistic health practices allows her to walk alongside women, men, and couples on their unique health journeys. She lives with her husband and son and is a proud Wisconsinite who enjoys the outdoors, strong coffee, and quality conversations. You can find her soaking in the sun rays, working the soil into a new garden, and taking time to be present with those she loves.

If you enjoyed this episode, be sure to give us a 5 star review! It takes just a minute, but makes a huge difference for those seeking podcast resources!

Ep. 34: Is Contraception a Faithful Choice for Christians? 26 Aug 202200:18:56

Last month,  we discussed why we should think theologically about our bodies. Now we're beginning to do just that, and our first topic was voted on by our Instagram followers @wovenfertility: contraception. Its use is largely accepted among Christians, but that doesn't mean that Christians don't have hesitations and questions. Today we take a first look at why that may be.

NOTE: This episode makes frequent mention of the words "sex" and "intercourse" and may not be appropriate for all audiences.

Episode 29: Should we think theologically about our fertility? with Dr. Cameron Jorgenson is a great precursor to today's episode!

This episode is for all the teen girls out there (or those who love them)! Cycle issues in teens are often swept under the rug. Teens are told to just wait until they get older and things will resolve, or - if you don't want to deal with it - you can use hormonal contraception to mask the symptoms. But teens deserve better than this. Today we talk about 5 teen cycle issues that you should NOT ignore!

NOTE: This episode is appropriate for all ages. It does mention the word blood.

Ep. 31: The Napro Difference, with Laura Ducote, F-NP, CFCP05 Aug 202200:19:28

But there's nothing like hearing about it directly from a Medical Consultant! Ep. 30: Fertility Myths 0129 Jul 202200:16:08

We've all heard things about our fertility that we're shocked to later find out are FALSE! But how do we know they're not true? When you hear something over and over again, you tend to believe it. That's why we're doing a Fertility "Myth Buster" episode today to bust some of the most common myths I hear. Have other myths you'd like busted? Send them to us @wovenwellpodcast! They may be on the next Fertility Myths episode!

Today, we tackle:
1. Women ovulate on day 14.
2. A monthly bleed means all is well.
3. One day of heavy cramping is normal.
4. You can't get pregnant during your period.
5. There is a "magic" day to get pregnant.

NOTE: This episode includes the word "intercourse" and refers to timing in order to conceive a pregnancy.

Want to continue debunking these myths with your personal fertility? Join us for our next Introductory Session to learn the Creighton System! You can work with Caitlin directly to understand the signs your body is giving you of reproductive health and fertility. You can register here!

Ep. 29: Should we think theologically about fertility? with Dr. Cameron Jorgenson22 Jul 202200:19:54

Should we think theologically about fertility? If you've listened to our episodes before, you know that we *do* talk theologically about it. But it's important that we know why. Dr. Cameron Jorgenson explains what theology is, how our bodies are a tool for better understanding God, and how God may show up as we welcome God into this special area of our lives.

NOTE: This episode is appropriate for all ages.

Ep. 28: When your body feels broken15 Jul 202200:15:45

Again and again, women have shared with me how their body image, past, physical struggles, etc have affected how they see their bodies and how connected they feel to their bodies. I wonder if this is a struggle we all have, whether we can pinpoint it or not? The #selflove movement tries to help combat this, but it will always fall short - because the things the world tells us to value about ourselves are ever changing. So how can this right relationship be restored? What can we do to love our bodies again? That's what we talk about today.

NOTE: This episode is appropriate for most ages, but does include brief references to the words "abuse," "trauma," and "menstrual blood."

I'd love to hear from you!

Ep. 26: Miscarriage 101 - common causes of miscarriage01 Jul 202200:16:14

Although it's not a fun topic, today's topic is an important one.  We review the most common causes of miscarriage, how to investigate possible risk factors, how charting with Creighton can give you insight into possible concerns, suggested medical tests for those trying to conceive after a pregnancy loss, and we begin to discuss where to find God in the midst of pregnancy loss.

Miscarriage is a part of fertility, so this episode is intended for those who have and have not experienced miscarriage.

Note: This episode is appropriate for all ages, but does discuss pregnancy loss.
For those sensitive to loss triggers, no details about the experience of loss are discussed, but definitions, causes of miscarriage, and the word "blood" are used.

If you'd like to download our miscarriage resource, you can find it on our website at wovenfertility.com/resources under Miscarriage 101.

Ep. 13: Growing your family, Pt. 2 with Karla Thrasher01 Apr 202200:14:59

Today's episode continues exploring your options in growing your family. While last week we explored how to get pregnant and grow your family biologically, this week we talk about growing your family through adoption. Adoption can be done domestically (through infant adoption) or internationally (through adoption from a child in another country without a family). Today's episode interviews Karla Thrasher, the Director of International Adoption at Lifeline Children's Services. We discuss some of the big questions with International Adoption: How do you explore if adoption is right for you? Where do you begin if you're considering adoption? What should you look for in an adoption agency? How do you pay for adoption?

If you'd like to learn more about the work Lifeline does, you can follow them on Instagram @lifelinechild or go to their website at lifelinechild.org. To speak with their inquiry specialist, who can hear your story and help you find a program that will fit best with your family's call, email heather.jackson@lifelinechild.org.

In a recent poll on Instagram, about 40% of our followers said they'd like to grow their family through both adoption and biological children. If you'd like to learn more about your fertility, even while pursuing adoption, we invite you to attend this month's Introductory Session! You can register at wovenfertility.com/join-us.

Ep. 122: IVF Alternatives for friends03 May 202400:19:41

I'm frequently asked how clients can share fertility suggestions with their friends. They want to share the exciting things they're learning through their own fertility education process, but don't want to overstep or say the wrong thing. This is especially true when it comes to IVF alternatives. Many ladies talk to friends who hate the IVF process, and yet their friends aren't sure how to suggest alternatives. This episode is designed for those who want to meet their friends where they are and provide a hopeful, supported alternative to fertility treatments that may not be serving them well. Enjoy these tips that can be applied to all sorts of fertility related conversations among friends! This could apply to in vitro fertilization, birth control, IUD use, recurrent pregnancy loss or miscarriage, and more.

NOTE: This episode is appropriate for most audiences, but does discuss the sensitive topic of infertility and loss, including IVF procedures and artificial reproductive technologies.

Client, Sarah, joins me today to talk about her story of years long infertility and how working with the right providers along the way allowed her to welcome to her son last summer. Hear what tools her providers used, how she partnered with her providers (like through the Creighton Model System), issues diagnosed and treated (like endometriosis, ovarian cysts, uterine infection, scar tissue and adhesions, etc), and how she knew when it was time to begin working with someone new. Listen to the end, because she provides her main tip for other women fearful of unexplained infertility!
