Sarah Hunter MBE, former England captain with 142 caps. Captaining her country at her fourth World Cup, winning it in 2014. World Rugby Women's Player of the Year, multiple Grand Slam winner widely regarding as England's greatest ever captain.
Sadia Kabeya, regarded as one of the Red Roses, up and coming stars, the flanker has already been to a World Cup final and won multiple 6 Nations titles. A fearsome member of the Loughborough Lightning back row, Sadia combines her rugby playing with her studies in sports.
A Red Rose and Bristol star, Sarah Bern, is a household name in the world of Women's rugby and a world class player. The props are not supposed to do what "Berner" does on the field, with two World Cup silver medals already in the sock draw! The multiple 6 Nations championship winner, still has so much to achieve in the game.
Johnnie Hammond, the creator of the pod, widely considered the voice of Women's rugby for over a decade. Commentating on virtually every club and international game in England, in that time. From inaugural league and Premier XVs finals to the World Cup final of 2014. Johnnie is regarded as one of the driving forces for the game in the media and one of the most respected.

WRP 193 - Back-2-back baby! Sarah Hunter and Johnnie were at The PWR final down in Exeter's Sandy Park at the weekend. Gloucester-Hartpury were going for successive titles, while Bristol - who made already made history by winning an away semi final - were looking to be crowned champions for the first time in the club's history. Just after the final whistle, the England coach gave her thoughts on the game, the ebbs and flows of a pulsating 80 minutes of rugby; where the game was won and lost and who impressed are all spoken about.
We spoke to one of the double winners and Red Rose, Tat Heard, who expressed her emotions and the thoughts within the game and what exactly was said at half time! Dave Ward, the Bristol coach, gave his reaction to where the game was won and lost, the emotions of it all and what the future has in stall. And there is a few bits of news including which 7s nation qualified for the Olympics, at the weekend and details of World Cup ticket sales!!

WRP 192 - Front row seats for the final! Massive week here in England, as the league season comes to a close with the PWR final. Sarah "Berner" Bern is back from injury to take her place way ahead of schedule to start Bristol's first ever final. The Red Rose star talks about the impressive win over saracens that got them to the big dance, as well as the culture at the club. Up against Gloucester-Hartpury - the champions - Mackenzie Carson joins us on the pod, England team mates but up against each other in the final; they both discuss how that might play out. The international experience these props can draw upon is spoken about and how this situation differs from the test arena. There is plenty of "fighting" talk and who will have the bragging rights but the threats from each of these sides is also part of the conversation. There's the rest of the news, as well, from Rori Taylorson, keeping us up to date with Fiji, Japan and 7s news.

WWRP 183 - Our very own rosarian. She's back, England coach and our co-host Sarah Hunter returns after a rather busy time! "Sunter" tells us about coaching in the 6 Nations rather than playing in it; her comfort levels following that transition and where the line is drawn in number of games of Tuk Tuk (listen to fully understand!). The opening two performances of The Red Roses are digested, where things have gone right, where needs to be tightened up and what we can expect in terms of selection for the rest of the tournament. We also hear the post-match thoughts of Zoe Aldcroft as she won her 50th cap at Ashton Gate. Sunter also looks at how the other nations have faired so far; how Scotland's recent run has given them confidence and how that has manifested into their play. She also runs her eye over France, Italy, Wales and Ireland, now with her old coach running the show. There's all the news from Rori as well, with results from SA's tour match, Super Rugby W and Aupiki and some shout outs with a special tribute from Sunter to Vicki Cornborough who announced her retirement this week.

Not only are Burf and Johnnie reunited but Zoe Aldcroft the world's best player is on the show!! Rachael Burford, World Cup winner and current Harlequins captain is back in the side car this week with broadcaster, Johnnie Hammond; the pair chat about the situation in Irish rugby with current and former players writing an open letter to the government to look into the situation of the game and the treatment of female players. There is also other news from the British Isles with league results to be spoken about, Players' associations being launched and all World Rugby Award recipients.
Plus The Red Roses star and now World Rugby's player of the year, Zoe Aldcroft. The Gloucester-Hartpury player speaks of her joy and surprise at receiving the award, how she found out and who she told first. But also where she and England have improved over the last 12-18 months and where they can get to.......

WRP 95 - Tip of The Roses - Sarah Hunter MBE the England Captain is in the co-host chair this week with Johnnie Hammond. They have a good catch up on The Red Roses autumn campaign, including a heartfelt conversation about the Red Roses squad, what they are about and the intrinsic link between the players are the fans. Also there's talk of the forth coming 6 Nations, review and preview of the Premier XVs and just how good is Simon Middleton MBE.
Only really one guest to go to this week, Simon Middleton MBE, fresh from winning World Rugby's coach of the year, the first coach of a women's side to pick up the accolade. "Midds," in one of the most candid interviews he's given this week, speaks about The Red Roses autumn campaign, where he thinks there is room for improvement, where his side are in the "grand scheme" of things. Plus how truly humbled he has been with the award and the messages and well wishes that have followed.

WRP 94 - Desert Storm. This week The WRP comes from the desert! Yes we are out in Dubai for the World Rugby &s series and hear from some stars of the travelling circus! Great Britain Captain Abbie Brown and Welsh flyer Jazz Joyce chat about the love of the game, how they have enjoyed competing as a unified British side and just how much Jazz had brought to the party!!!! The "roomies" also chat about what lies ahead for the individual countries, this being the last tournament before GB split back into England, Scotland and Wales and what try celebrations they have planned this weekend, if any...........
Plus there is Baabaas' Captain Natasha "Mo" Hunt, giving a full run down of the historic but eventful game at Twickenham against South Africa last Saturday. The game that was watched by 1.15 million people had an interesting build up (Ubers to the ready) and Mo tell us all about it, plus the honour of leading this incredible squad full of the games stars and just what it means to play in that famous black and white shirt.

WRP 93 - Babas special - This week we have a very special podcast for you. Following the autumn internationals we jump straight into the Barbarians, the special, historic club; with five of the squad joining us! We have the two coaches, who are teaming up together again; Jo Yapp from Worcester and Rachel Taylor, one of the Sale Sharks coaches. They tell us how they are building the rapport within the squad, the challenges of such limited training time and just what it means to be involved. Plus why every player has to have a sheep!!!
We also have the players' perspective, with Canada's Laura Russell, fresh from winning her 50th cap for her country; she depicts the joy in finally being able to pull the famous black and white shirt. French back rower Lenaig Corson, on her second appearance for the Babas, tells us who is leading the charge on and off the field. And who she is most looking forward to playing with. Plus we have Katy Daly-McLean MBE (from her hotel bed!!), the World Cup winning captain is finally going to tick one of the last boxes in women's rugby. The Sale Sharks' head honcho reveals her excitement (or over excitement on the first night!) about playing with some unbelievable players from around the world. We truly are deep inside the camp.

Another huge week on the Women's Rugby Pod, so had to get a "big gun" in to discuss all the comings and goings, test matches, contracts, press conferences, players bravery.........it's all being going on this week!
Ali Donnelly, the creator of Scrum Queens, and leading voice on women's rugby, joins Johnnie to chat through it all. Ali rects to the news raging all week over in Ireland, following comments made by the Women's Director of rugby Anthony Eddie and the fall out from the players themselves! All this after failing to qualify for the World Cup and not hitting multiple targets over the last few years. Has IRFU's attitude towards the game changed towards the women's game? This is just another highly damaging and telling episode to come out of the emerald isle of late. The Scrum Queen's Queen also analyses the England v New Zealand results - how impressive England where, is it just down to professionalism, how much ground do the World Champions, New Zealand have to make up? Johnnie and Ai also run through all of last weekend's results with wins for Wales and France; plus they look forward to this weekend's full programme. What to expect from France and how much South Africa are growing.
Also on the pod, seasoned Welsh international Kerin Lake to reflect on last week's huge news from the Welsh Rugby Union announcing they will be contracting their payers. But also the win over Japan at the weekend, you can hear the relief and joy in Kerin's voice!

WRP 91 - It's all going on! Another packed show this week, full to the brim with special guests in another bumper week for women's rugby. After the historic news on Wednesday (3rd November) coming from The Welsh Rugby Union regarding the contracts for their female player, Johnnie chats with WRU Vice-President Liza "Bird" Burgess to get the inside scope. And what she thinks it will mean to the players and the rugby within Wales.
Following England's win over New Zealand, at the weekend, and ahead of the second leg this weekend; once again we have insight from both sides. The Queen of the set piece "Rocky" Clark joins us to talk about the scrums and line out where The Red Roses were so dominant. On the other side 53-capper Kendra Cocksedge joins the pod from Northampton. The half back tells Johnnie how they have tried to bounce back, what the review of last weekend's game was like and where she feels they can hurt England. There is also insight into just how The Black Ferns keep spirits high whilst on tour.
If that wasn't enough, after the 1994 World Cup trophy was found, we had to get Gill Burns MBE on the pod to speak of her delight in finding it! The legendary Waterloo no.8 tells us where it was, where it is now and why it still hasn't had a polish. WRP 90 - Black & White. The autumn internationals are finally here! A huge game this weekend, kicks off a huge month for women's international rugby. On Sunday it is England v New Zealand at Sandy Park, Exeter. All but one of the World Cup titles between them, these games are always special so we have two very special superstars to preview the game with us. Katy Daly-McLean MBE, the 2014 World Cup winning captain, joins Johnnie to discuss the weekend's game. What tactics The Red Roses may employ, where the game will be won and lost and the centurion gives us her starting XV.
Also on the show The Golden Girl, "The Smiling Assassin," gold medal Olympian Black Fern Stacey Fluhler. Stacey chats about the squad's time in England, how the squad are shaping up, what they do to fill "bubble time." The World Cup 7s and 15s winner also speaks of the pride in representing her country, in it's 100th test match, what it means to wear the shirt and what it takes to be the current World number 1 team. There's also a great tip from Johnnie about a Devonshire speciality for post-match!
