| Episode #55: The boon of setting boundaries | 29 Apr 2019 | 00:39:34 | |
Have you ever said Yes to an event you really wanted to say No to and then ended up dragging your feet there? I have. Do you tend to take on work although it is not really your job and you don’t get paid extra for it either?…. yep, know that one. Do you keep babysitting for your friend although you really wanted a day off? … I learnt not to. Many of us struggle setting boundaries. Yet setting boundaries skillfully is an integral part to a healthy and happy life. Creating mutually beneficial relationships is based on having explicit ground rules between one another. So then…I ask..…If setting boundaries is so important why do so many of us struggle to set them? And how can we learn to set them skillfully? Lael Peterson, long time therapist and coach, and I shine some light on the issue. What you get from tuning in:

| Episode #54: Change your life by changing the way you think | 13 Apr 2019 | 00:32:40 | |
Whatever you think and feel has a vibration. Whatever vibration you carry is what you attract. You are probably familiar with the ‘law of attraction’: a law states that “like attracts like” which means whatever you think you attract. This is not wowoo or esoteric. Thoughts are simply energetic patterns that can manifest into reality. In other words our reality is manifested thoughts, our reality is thoughts densified. Taking that as our premise Kelly Mishell and I shoot shine light on how to work with thoughts and emotions to create the life you want and desire. What you get from tuning in:

| Episode #45: Simple, everyday Ayurvedic cooking for a peaceful mind | 06 Dec 2018 | 00:43:55 | |
If you are like most people eating healthy and well is high on your new year’s resolution list. Is it? That’s not surprising. After all, good food is a foundational piece to lasting health and happiness. With bad food we feel blah, bloaty, uninspired. Who wants that? With good food we feel uplifted and inspired. I attest to it. Well, I hate to break the news to you, but if you want to feed yourself well, home cooked food is essential for a peaceful and harmonious mind … and a vibrant body of course. Are you cringing? Does cooking at home sound like a whole lot of work? Hold your horses and read on … If you are a person who eats out a lot you have very little control about what goes into your body (and mind). Restaurants typically get their ingredients from big suppliers who give a d&*% about where they source their food from. The main goal is to keep costs down so you can eat affordably. It’s likely that you eat artificial ingredients, hormone fed beef and unorganic lettuce. Those ingredients ain’t creating ease and peace. When eating out, you also have no control over the emotions that go into your food. Yep that’s right? The emotions of the cook go right into your food. And having worked in restaurants, I know what a stressful environment kitchens are. How is that creating a peaceful mind for the eater? Check out my conversation with Alec Hurley on that. When cooking at home you have way more control over what goes into your body. Now, if you are anything like me you don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen. I am way into simple, easy and delicious. That’s why I talked to Kate O’Donnell who has written two Ayurvedic cookbooks. They are filled with simple recipes that take less than 30 min to prep, are nourishing and tasty. Yahoo Kate. Well done. I chat with Kate about the ins and out of everyday cooking and how it impacts our minds. What you get from tuning in:

Not a sunny outlook for anyone but especially dire for someone whose livelihood depends on teaching yoga and movement. A four hour surgery put her body back together. Her resilience and strong belief that she will heal carried her through mentally and emotionally. | Episode #41: Soul Style Dress: Dress yourself for more confidence & self love | 10 Oct 2018 | 00:31:32
We are talking about clothes of all things. What me? Yes. That’s right. Clothes and everything that comes with it, shoes, accessories, jewelry is important to many women. Period. And clothes are something that in the world of yogis, with whom I have been hanging out, has often been suppressed and shunned. After all the development of the soul is more important, right?…..and what do clothes have to do with that? Well, truth be told, a lot. The way you dress reflects a level of self confidence, self worth and self love. Clothes reflect your identity and who you are as a person. Clothes also express what you want to experience at any moment in time. Remember a day when you were in pyjamas all day? You were probably going for comfort and snuggle time. Now imagine a day where you dressed up, in a beautiful and carefully chosen dress, adorned with jewelry and maybe high heels (likely not me, but you get the point). Were you going on a date? You probably felt immediately more powerful, worthy and self confident. And what is more, dressing right can make you be seen and heard as who you are. Authentically. If you want to be heard and seen (even though part of you is resistant) you need to listen to this conversation.

Elise makes bold claims on the front flap of her book Superager. She says: You can look younger, have more energy, a better memory, and live a long and healthy life. | Episode #37: Embracing your feminine, stepping into flow | 16 Aug 2018 | 00:50:24
Finding your feminine essence in a masculine world is not an easy feat. It’s a discovery, it’s a curiosity. As women, regardless of sexual orientation, we carry a watery nature, an essence, a juiciness and creativity that has been given to us by nature. We can create and birth a human being. Menstruation is one way the body expresses that power. Amenorrhea, or the absence of menses, during a time in our lives when we are expected to have it aka when we are not postmenopausal, is a sign of imbalance. A sign, that points toward something undiscovered. Kristen so thoughtfully shares how she is peeling away the layers to find her feminine essence; how she willingly sets her PhD-achiever-self aside and embraces the softness and flow of the feminine. Your feminine essence is already there. You just need to find it. What you get from tuning in:

| Episode #36: Cracking the anxiety code | 02 Aug 2018 | 00:50:07 | |
18% of the US population suffers from generalized anxiety. That’s almost 1/5 of the population. That’s huge. Anxiety disorders are highly treatable, yet less than 40% of those suffering receive treatment. Hand in hand with anxiety often comes depression. Yikes.
I had severe anxiety in my early to mid 20s, too. So did Jamie. We have walked the path and came out the other end way more grounded and self confident. Jamie used to be on anti- depressants and was frequently so anxious she would cancel a yoga class she was scheduled to teach last minute. Looking at Jamie today, you see a firm and empowered woman across the table.
Yoga and Ayurveda offer simple, low cost and no-side-effect tools. We share with you what worked and still works for us. “If you want to conquer the anxiety of life, live in the moment, live in the breath.” Amit Ray, Om Chanting and Meditation What you get from tuning in:

This is part 2 or my heartwarming and inspiring conversation with Sam Norman about her lifelong healing crisis with autoimmune disease and thyroid cancer. She has shifted from rock bottom to a place of peace, acceptance and deep inner healing. At the expense of repeating myself, here is what Sam’s journey is about: When you look at Sam Norman today you would never guess that she has endured over 30 years of chronic health crisis. Since the first year of her life, she has been in constant companionship of doctors. At age 1, she was diagnosed with severe digestive challenges. Hashimoto’s disease was diagnosed at age 13, a vascular autoimmune diagnosis came at age 27, thyroid cancer at 31. She has had seven surgeries throughout her life including a brain surgery at age 9. She was convinced several times that she was going to die. Her case was so interesting, the doctors asked her to be a “case study”. She agreed but started feeling like a number. Growing up in a loving family of medical practitioners, with her parents being an MD and a nurse, her treatment plan included all but Western medical protocols until the age of 21. Western medicine saved her life yet she was far from being healed. When she got the cancer diagnosis at age 31 she hit rock bottom. And the only place to go when you sink that low is to rise up. Cancer led her to seek out other avenues for support, other healing methods, a different viewpoint. What she yearned for was to been seen, to be asked “How is Sam?” Tune in to hear Sam’s heartwarming, and incredible story of healing. If Sam can heal, so can you! What you get from tuning in:

| Episode #33: What is Health? No really, what is it? …part 3 | 20 Jun 2018 | 00:19:01 | |
Before you dive into this episode listen to What is health: part 1 and What is health: part 2. Yahoo, we continue our conversation around What Is Health. Today, we talk all about the 5 layers of our being. Yep, that’s right we consist of five distinct layers not just one.
You have, of course heard about the body-mind-spirit approach. Dah, right? But what does that mean exactly? It’s a bit of an aloof concept if you ask me. It sounds good, but without breaking it down to what it exactly is, it holds little juice. I will get practical with you about how to feed each of those layers.
You feed your physical body, don’t you? Think food, exercise, sleep. Maybe you get a massage once in a while. Well, the other 4 layers need to be fed too. But how do you do that? Listen in and find out. Because you need to feed each of those layers abundantly to create the YOU that is alive, vibrant and irresistibly beautiful. What you get from tuning in:

| Episode #31: What is Health? No really, what is it? …part 2 | 26 May 2018 | 00:16:57 | |
Health is hard to define. It is many layered. Just as we humans are complex so is the definition of health. Every medical profession has their own definition. In part 1 of “what is health” we discussed the allopathic definition of health and the 6 stages of disease manifestation. In this episode, we look at the Ayurvedic definition of health. Ayurveda looks to the Sanskrit word svastha to define health. Svastha means ;to be established in the Self”. It leaves us with a philosophical debate on what health entails. Another way to describe health comes from one of the ancient Ayurvedic texts called Sushruta Samhita. The definition goes like this. sama doṣāh samāgniś ca sama dhātu mala kriyaḥ prasannātmendriya manāḥ svastha ityabidhīyate Sushruta Samhita, 15.38
One who is established in Self, who has balanced doshas (of Vata, Pitta and Kapha), balanced agni (digestive fire), properly formed dhātus (tissues), proper elimination of malas (waste products), well functioning bodily processes, and whose mind, soul, and senses are full of bliss, is called a healthy person. To find out what this exactly means, listen to this episode. Health is wealth

| Episode #30: What is Health? No really, what is it? …part 1 | 09 May 2018 | 00:19:09 | |
What is health. No really, what is it? We throw around the term all the time. You probably wish for abundant health at major junctions in your live. At birthdays, new year, whenever someone asks you. But do you ever stop to think what it really means to be well and what it all entails? Pause right now and think: What does health mean to YOU? What words would YOU choose to describe it. The definition of health from the Western medicine perspective is “the absence of symptoms” or “the absence of disease”. Kind of a dry perspective if you ask me. And the question arises what kind of symptoms we are talking about? Those symptoms that jump right at your face? Those that cause me so much pain, they are hard to ignore? And do we include those that are so subtle we hardly notice them? And what about symptoms in the mind? Are they included? Many questions, I know. I attempt to answer them by outlining to you the 6 stages of disease as they are taught in Ayurveda. Knowing these six stages helped me a lot to place where I am at on my healing journey and what measures I needed to take to get me back to balance.
There are degrees or levels of feeling well. Have you noticed?

| Episode #29: Managing Depression skillfully with Or Sahar | 26 Apr 2018 | 01:04:22 | |
Five percent of the world’s population suffers from depression. It is common after giving birth aka postpartum depression and when transitioning through menopause. Then there is seasonal affective disorder where depression rises with the lack of sunlight. Followed by severe depression in the form of bipolar disorders and manic depressive illness. Depression is a common human experience. Getting out of depression depends a lot on what choice we make. Are we choosing the light or the darkness. This sounds overly simplistic, but ultimately what it comes down to according to Or Sahar’s experience. What thoughts, words and actions are you choosing to align yourself with? Having gone through periods of depression myself, I know that while in the darkness it is incredibly hard to make a choice but I also know it is possible. And I also know that there are tools and practices we can do to clear ourselves of those negative emotions. One of which is to detox your body regularly. Or Sahar shares her trials and tribulations through depression. At one point she admitted herself to mental hospital as she felt dangerous to herself. But through the tools and practices of yoga she built herself a stable foundation to navigate dark times by herself and with the tools in her toolbag. Interestingly, her name Or Sahar means “the light of the dawn”. What you get from listening:

| Episode #28: Your food, your mindset, your reality | 13 Apr 2018 | 00:53:27 | |
Food is about more than just taste. Food is nourishment for the five layers of our being. It impacts not only your physical body, but our minds, emotions and spirit as well. Many factors play a role: the prana or lifeforce in the food, the quality of the soil, the attitude of the cook and the mindset with which we eat our food. Shifting your attention away from solely tasting food to asking yourself “how does my body want to be nourished today” and “how does earth intent to nourish me today” provides for a completely different approach and culinary experience. Food can either facilitate connection or it can hinder it. Food can make us feel deeply connected, nourished and loved. It can either make us feel alive or dead. As Dr. Seuss said: “If we eat dead food, we feel deadened”. I add: “If we eat alive food, we feel alivened”. Alec and I rap around the idea of food facilitating an experience of life. And who better to talk to than Alec, who is not only a culinary artist but also a yogi who is tapped into the subtler realms of existence. What you get from tuning in:
When IM-balanced, we crave what keeps us OUT of balance. When IN balance, we crave what keeps us IN balance.

The four stages of life describe our focus, aim and role in life over a 100 year time span. They were outlined in ancient Indian texts. Being able to verbalize the four stages and what they are about helps us become more conscious and choose our orientation, engagement, actions and attitude in a certain phase. In a way, knowing them gives us permission to be who we are and focus on what is present in the particular stage we find ourselves in. The four stages are:

| Episode #52: Solving the pelvic floor mystery | 14 Mar 2019 | 00:49:16 | |
As if pregnancy, childbirth and menopause wasn’t enough fun for women, there are a whole set of challenges associated with our female parts. 1 in 3 women experience some form of pelvic floor disorder. That’s a significant 33%. Think uterine and bladder prolapse, urinary incontinence, urinary tract infections, yoni flatulence or rectal incontinence. In a study from 2007 with close to 9,000 women it was shown that …..
Pelvic floor disorders aren’t discussed much in our society and many women have to suffer in silence. Imagine not being able to have sex due to pain. Or having to wear diapers because of leaking. Or the deep embarrassment that comes with leaking stool. Leslie Stager shares her insight and experience as a holistic pelvic floor specialist. Pelvic floor work is not sexual, sensual, clinical or painful. It is a therapeutic approach to bring attention and healing into the private parts of our body. What you get from tuning in:

| Episode #25: Healing Trauma holistically | 03 Mar 2018 | 00:53:40 | |
Trauma is an integral part of human life. We have all had trauma to varying degrees, some more severe than others. On the severe end, think domestic violence, war, physical and emotional abuse, sexual assault or loss of a loved one. But trauma can also be more subtle maybe caused by a divorce or a minor accident. In fact, life starts with a trauma called birth. Could you call it anything else, when you are trying to squeeze your head through a tight canal? Looking at the definition of the word, trauma is a deeply distressing or disturbing experience. Our brains and nervous system can get severely impacted causing the body to go into fight, flight or freeze mode. This in turn can cause hormonal imbalances, digestive issues and so much more. Clearing trauma out of our tissues is an integral part of healing ourselves. Bringing attention and intention to it brings freedom to our soul and aliveness to our body. Schuyler shares with us her own journey from trauma through alcohol and cigarette addiction to a healthier life. She also shares what it takes, from a yogic and Ayurvedic perspective, to heal trauma. | Episode #24: What is menopause? Let’s get it straight | 15 Feb 2018 | 00:16:01
Every woman goes through menopause, whether she wants to or not. Of course, that only applies if she gets old enough.
Although discussing this phase of life openly becomes less and less taboo with every year, we still don’t get all that much information from our elders, books aside. I don’t know about you but while my Mom is willing to share when I ask, I also have to pull every detail out of her nose.
In this podcast, I want to clear up the fundamental question of “What is menopause” exactly. It can get kind of confusing as some women (and health care practitioners) refer to it as a point in time, while others refer to it as a phase in their lives.
So let’s get it straight.

| Episode #23: The power of subtle awareness | 01 Feb 2018 | 00:49:59 | |
Marcia Wilson grew up to be a biochemist (=gross body awareness) and evolved into a yogi (=subtle body awareness). She tells her story of how those two intricate studies inform her life, health and happiness as she moves through her 40s. Midlife and menopause are often referred to as The Big Change; Subtle awareness is crucial for staying healthy and making life sustainable in this stage. In Ayurveda, we distinguish six stages of disease. Western medicine is only able to detect an imbalance in stage five which means when the imbalance is way manifested already. Being tuned into your body will help you detect symptoms much earlier, prevent disease and create the body and life you want. Ayurveda and Yoga help you do that. We explore the notion of what is sustainable in the mid-stage of life and beyond. Our daily practices and lifestyle choices need to honor the big change so that our nervous system can relax and our body can find back to equilibrium. If we were to ignore the subtle signs we would likely find ourselves in a place of dis-ease down the road. Chemicals are being released by emotions;and emotions are influenced by the environment we create for ourselves. We have a choice. We can create how we feel. What You get from tuning in:

Almost 60% of Americans make new year’s resolutions but only 9% feel they are successful in achieving them (from Statistic Brain). This number is way too low for my taste. And I also know that it doesn’t have to be like that. Are you amongst those setting resolutions but never really making them a reality? Do you fail miserably in implementing what you set yourself out to do at the beginning of the year? Or, maybe you don’t fail, but you would like to have a more straightforward, grounded and efficient process of implementation? There is a method to the madness.
is a clear strategy to turn lofty resolutions into earthy reality. Manifesting your dreams after all, it turns out, isn’t all that difficult. In my teens and early 20s, I termed resolutions bollocks. Then, I became a yogi and learnt to set intentions. I worked with them for years and frankly, they got me quite far. Intentions connected me to my heart’s desires and narrowed my path in a way that propelled me forward. Now that I have learnt about goal setting and habit evolution, however, I realize that using a triad of intention, goal setting and habits will get me to my desired destination a lot faster. And I mean a.lot.faster. Having a clear action plan sets the wheels of the universe in motion. And because you are taking part in the intention download, goal setting and habit picking you get to be in the driver’s seat of your life. And that applies to all areas of your life: health, relationships, finances, career, family, fun…. you name it. What You get from tuning in:

| Episode #21. How to travel in sanity: 7 epic tips from Ayurveda | 21 Dec 2017 | 00:25:19 | |
Travelling can be uprooting and nerve wrecking for the most robust of us. With the holidays right around the corner you may find yourself in a car, airplane or, if you are amongst the nogaltics, in a train towards destination “loved ones”. Having traveled extensively myself over the past 20 years I know how uncomfortable plane seats and gas station toilets can be. You may arrive feeling molded to the cushion you sat on for the past however many hours. Arriving exhausted, with an aching body and overstretched mind is the last thing you want when visiting auntie Sue and uncle Tom for Christmas (or Thanksgiving or any other important occasion). From an Ayurvedic perspective travel is Vata aggravating which means the air and ether elements go all out of sorts. For your body that means constipation, headaches, hard stools, dry skin, dry eyes and whatever other ailments come with dehydration. And if that’s not enough, your nerves may be a wreck, you feel overwhelmed and anxious. You are way overstimulated. Well, let’s say this: it doesn’t have to be like that if you put a few practices and strategies in place. And guess what, I am not even talking about extensive practices like meditation and such.(although that would be great). I am just talking about switching up a few things to make travels more easeful. In this episode, I share with you my seven, most precious tips from Ayurveda that I have personally applied over the years.

| Episode #20. How to achieve work life balance | 07 Dec 2017 | 00:37:06 | |
Work can take over. Life can take over, leaving little room for fun and relaxation. That is if we are not intentional about how we use time and implement strategies to direct our day.
Annie is the mother of 2, well-preneur, yoga health coach and someone who intentionally creates ease in her life. She walks her talk. We chat about key tools to become master of your time, get a S#%! load done and create more room for quiet and fun.
We usually think of time as a fixed entity. After all, there are only 24 hours in a day, 52 weeks in a year and 365 days. It’s fixed, right? Not really. When looked at time from a different angle we notice that time is expandable and contractible. Have you ever tried to sit still for 5 minutes, say trying to meditate, and those 5 minutes seemed like an eternity? Yet, if you used those same 5 minutes to get something “important” done those minutes would fly by?
We can harness time by being intentional about how we use it. I like to think about the different areas of life like burners on a stove. There is a family burner, work burner, fun burner, chore burner, partner burner and so on. On a daily, weekly and monthly basis I plan which burner I want to turn up. I make a conscious choice. And by choosing I create ease. (And YES, you can do that too. You are not a slave to your work, husband, family, circumstances and whatever else you believe is in the way of feeling easeful). Calm, ease and peace are not the end result of success or having achieved an empty to do list. Calm, ease and peace are the way.

| Episode #19. How to be empowered about peri-menopause | 23 Nov 2017 | 00:41:52 | |
Tracey was obsessed about menopause. It is all she could talk about once she hit that phase in her life. Tracey grew up in a family where topics like menopause was not exactly a topic to be discussed. Think British and think proper. Once she entered this phase herself she had no clue how to relate her symptoms with a possible diagnosis until hot flashes hit her. Aha, might this be the great transition? Her Western medical doctor confirmed that she indeed had entered the peri-menopausal phase. That’s when her obsession started. To be fair, it was a cute and positive obsession, but it was an obsession. She gobbled up books and researched like crazy. It was all so fascinating. It was not until she visited her Ayurvedic doctor, however, that she stopped identifying with the label and actually realized she could do something about it. Instead of giving up her power to an outside person she took matters in her own hand and empowered herself along the journey. In this podcast, she shares with us her trials, insights and tribulations and how she came out the other end wiser and more attuned to her body than she ever has been. What You get from tuning in:

| Episode #18. Bathroom Cabinet: treasure chest for achy muscles & stiff joints | 09 Nov 2017 | 00:46:15 | |
The Bathroom is central station for grooming, vanity and healing. It is also a place to relief ourselves physically - think poop and urine - and calm down emotionally - think taking a long, calming bath, oiling yourself or freshening up after a long, exhausting day. The bathroom is also a place to keep your body well oiled and joints moving smoothly. Growing old is a choice. An achy body is too. While linear age is unalterable, biological age is not. If we stock our bathroom with the right items, we support our body to stay young, vibrant and more alive for longer. Reaching for a high cabinet in the kitchen, walking upstairs or going for a long hike will no longer be an issue. You can find tons of inexpensive items to keep our joints well lubricated, your lymph moving and your circulation flowing, right over your sink. Sarah and I talk about various practices that are easily done at home to relieve aches and pains. Most of all we talk about Ayurvedic self massage, a simple yet immensely profound tool. From an Ayurvedic perspective, the first rule of thumb is….whatever you put on your skin should also be eatable.

| Episode #51: The 7 alchemical stages of menopause | 28 Feb 2019 | 00:55:43 | |
Menopause is a birthing process that, when embraced consciously, will help us transform into the powerful, authentic wise elders that our society needs so badly. In other words, menopause is an opportunity for women to transform into wise crones. Many women dread menopause. They dread the hot flashes, night sweats, gaining weight, mood swings, hormonal changes, getting old and whatever else comes with the menopausal transition. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be this way. With the right tools, menopause can be the doorway into wisdom, insight and intuition. Menopause is a metamorphosis and can be a wonderful unfolding process into a beautiful butterfly. Cathy Skipper works with the spiritual transformation of midlife using the process outlined by Carl Jung. As an aromatherapist she also works with essential oils to make the journey more graceful and easeful. What you get from tuning in:

| Episode #15. How to activate your sacred feminine | 28 Sep 2017 | 00:34:12 | |
At the Vancouver peace summit, the Dalai Lama proclaimed: “The world will be saved by the Western woman”. And right he may is considering that as Western women we have the resources needed to make a profound impact. We also have the freedom to develop and tap into our sacred feminine power. As Western women, one by one, awaken into self-realized, authentic, spirit-embodied human beings, there will be no limits as to what we will contribute in a feminine, intuitive way to all sectors of society. Tapping into our sacred yonis is vital to unlock the power you need to make the impact the Dalai Lama is talking about. Yoni is a sanskrit word referring to the womb, uterus, vagina and vulva. The word also means abode and source. It is the feminine power center and sacred portal into our soul. What you get from tuning in:

| Episode #14. Midlife & Menopause: Portal of transformation | 14 Sep 2017 | 00:29:58 | |
Menopause marks the death of your old Self and rebirth of your new Self. It is a pivotal portal for transformation in every woman’s life. While the first part of life is all about accumulation - think finances, house, husband, children, stuff, career - the second half of life is all about simplification. Letting go of stuff, relationships, outdated belief systems, emotional and bodily toxins becomes crucial in this phase of life. Detoxing on all those levels clears the path to your future self and allows for an easeful transition not only mentally-emotionally speaking but also on a body related level. A new self wants to be reborn at menopause. It can happen with ease in a clean environment (again think body, emotions, mind, relationships, your home). Sirena shares her own story how she simplified her life by shedding 95% of her possessions including her valued book collection, how that has impacted her body’s health and how she achieved lightness of being through menopause. Sirena is one of those wise elders you want to listen to especially as she has extensive experience leading other women through this transition.

| Episode #10. How to find your purpose | 05 Jul 2017 | 00:38:21 | |
Age 50 is a big mile marker, for men and women alike. Half of life has passed and a deep questioning phase naturally arises. “Have I done everything I want to accomplish in this lifetime? Am I doing what I really want to do?” It is not uncommon for people to quit corporate jobs in favor of more meaningful work in a non profit organization despite less pay. Some quit their householder life altogether and pursue a spiritual life in an ashram or other spiritual setting. Finding one’s life purpose, or dharma, ain’t easy especially if you don’t have a roadmap. Many people get stuck, frustrated or disoriented along the way, longingly wanting to arrive at their one god given mission. Annie enlightens us that dharma is not static but instead dynamically changes and evolves as we shift, grow and change. WHAT YOU GET OUT OF LISTENING

| Episode #9. The effect of digestion & stress on hormones | 08 Jun 2017 | 00:14:59 | |
Digestion is at the heart of health according to Ayurveda. Digest what you eat well and assimilate it properly, and your body cells will be healthy and ready to do good work; your immune system will be strong and your hormones balanced. If you are not digesting your food well, the body will be fed poorly and also has to work harder to eliminate toxins. Low quality cells will be produced and the hormone system is not getting the quality nutrition it needs to function well. Winslow and I also chat about the effect of gas (=flatulence) on bone health. The basic equation here goes like this: (hope you liked mathematics. I did)

| Episode #8. A menopause success story | 25 May 2017 | 00:24:45 | |
Lisa had the perfect setup for a dreadful menopause. For 20 years, she had been working as a high-powered healthcare consultant with a national management organization i.e. she worked in corporate America. This meant that she was traveling a bunch and entertaining clients late. That kind of work by itself can lead to burnout, depletion and massive menopausal symptoms. To make matters worse, Lisa has a more delicate body type (Vata Pitta if you know anything about Ayurveda), which by nature is prone to more severe menopausal symptoms. And if that wasn’t enough, in her 40s, she decided to go to massage therapy school, yoga teacher training and move to a new town where she knew no one. Yet, despite all these stressors, Lisa experienced hardly any symptoms through the transition. In fact, when her menses disappeared and her naturopath proclaimed menopause had arrived she was surprised. “That was it? No sweat dripping nights, weight gain or moodiness? ” Lisa attributes her successful transition to her yoga and self-care practices. She truly practiced bad ass body wisdom that saved her from a downhill spiral. In this episode, she shares with us how she made that happen. WHAT YOU GET FROM TUNING IN

| Episode #7. A Seasoned MDs View On Hysterectomies | 11 May 2017 | 00:18:21 | |
The culture in which Beth Claxton MD found herself in during medical training was one like this: ‘If it hurts take it out. Are the ovaries, fallopian tubes and uterus done making babies? Yes? Then the body no longer needs them, so it will be fine without them”. The focus was on fixing through surgical removal. While she never fully adopted that view point she found herself embedded in that culture. Through her own exposure to the Eastern medical model as well as a series of health challenges of her own, Dr. Beth has found alternate ways to deal with pain in the pelvic area and more often than not finds non-surgical ways to remove pain and with it the cause of discomfort. | Episode #6. Turning Menopause Around… An Inspiring Personal Story | 27 Apr 2017 | 00:26:53
Liz Young shares her personal story of how she turned a most dreadful menopause around and found peace in her body again. A few years ago, Liz shifted drastically from peri-menopause to menopause. She was struggling with extreme bleeding to the point of calling the hospital, terrible brain-fog, out of control hot flashes, fatigue and dreadful episodes of depression. The doctor prescribed an IUD and a combination of hormones – testosterone, progesterone and estrogen – which left her 30 pounds heavier six weeks later. She was livid. Out came the IUD and she stopped the pills. The weight and her issues remained, however. A serious upgrade in various small, specific habits is what gave her the long term result. Liz shares how she learnt to listen to her own internal review board, how holding internal counsel has helped her shift the relationship to her body and allowed her to turn menopause around. Liz and I also chat about how her vaning youthful look impacted her psyche and how she managed to look younger despite getting older.
