Welcome to the Wine and Vinyl Club. A podcast for people who love drinking wine and listening to good music. Once a fortnight David, Chris and Christian discuss an album from an eclectic mix of classics from the Beatles through to Harry Styles. Then the fun part, we attempt to match a bottle of wine to the album and also sample a value wine and occaisionally a cocktail too. We hope to encourage our listeners to try something different when drinking or listening to music and most importantly have a laugh with us.

Bonus Christmas Episode

What ever your views on Christmas songs you’ll love this bonus show, where the Wine & Vinyl Club unwrap their thoughts on Christmas songs. Just like Christmas, the episode exposes a whole range of emotions. Perhaps it’s because we got smashed off our faces drinking some spectacular Christmas beverages. Join us and have a laugh with a very Messy Christmas!
David brings a cold ‘Spiced Sangria’ suitable for a Christmas down under, and a hot ‘Vin chaude’ version of the same drink for winters night.
Recipe: Make a spiced syrup. Finely grate an orange and lemon and mix with a ½ cup of sugar. Cling wrap and leave overnight to infuse. The next day add the citrus sugar infusion to a cup of water and heat gently. Add 2 cloves, 2 star anise, 2 pepper corns, 4 crushed cardamom pods and a stick of cinnamon. When the sugar has dissolved, put a lid on the pan and turn off the heat. Let the syrup steep for an hour. Once cool, filter and refrigerate the syrup.
To a bottle of light fruity red such as a Pinot Noir, Gamay, or Grenache, I used a Dolan & Dunn, Mataro from the Barossa, South Australia. Add 2 shots of Grande Marnier and Cointreau, 2 cloves, 2, star anise, 2 pepper corns, 4 crushed cardamom pods and a stick of cinnamon. Add a chopped orange and lemon, then cover with cling wrap and let it sit overnight in the fridge.
For the Sangria, pour half a glass of wine and ½ a shot of syrup to taste. Serve over ice, topped with soda water and a sprig of rosemary (optional). For the Vin chaude, warm the wine gently (do not let it boil) and then let it sit in the pan for 10 minutes. Add Serve in a mug with ½ a shot of syrup to taste and a cinnamon stick (optional).
Christian brings a deliciously buttery $29 Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay, from Sonoma, California.
S3 Ep3. OK Computer by Radiohead

Radiohead’s record label described this album as commercial suicide, yet it went on to be their greatest commercial and critical success. This episode we get the spookiest ‘Spooky Coincidence’ ever! ‘Sexy Chef’ is sizzling hot, and Michael Jagger reminisces about teaching the Radiohead lads when they were at Abington School.
To match OK Computer, Chris brings a classic Negroni Cocktail. Recipe: 1 shot Gin, Campari and Vermouth Rosso. Pour over ice and serve with a slice of orange.
While Christian brings a mysterious $65 2013 Wills Domain Cuvee d'Elevage Shiraz, from the Margaret River region in Western Australia.
How did this album ever see the light of day? Everyone in the band was emotionally traumatized and coked to the gills, but somehow Fleetwood Mac still managed to produce one of the most popular albums of all time. This episode we discuss toilets, corks, sausage eating and of course, two wonderful wines and the album.

If you like the Verdejo, you might also like a Swan Valley Chenin or Verdelho. If you like the cool climate style of the Coonawarra Shiraz, look for a French or Australian Syrah. This is still the shiraz grape but usually indicates a more delicate, cool climate style.
Adam ventured outside the wine realm and recommended Boston Brewery Peach Lemonade produced by Boston Brewery from Denmark, WA.
Chris has riff on a classic Martinez cocktail, which he calls a ‘Messy Christmas’.
Recipe: 1 ½ shots of white rum (fat washed with butter, ginger, and cinnamon). 1 shot Maraschino cherry liqueur, and a dash of Vermouth Blanco. Serve in a chilled martini glass, with a glace cherry and ginger.
