Bonus Cast - Owen Wells full chat
mardi 12 octobre 2021 • Duration 39:22
Hello, and welcome to Wild Wimmin the Wild Swimming Podcast, I’m Laura Macdonald.
Owen Wells is a swimmer, Green town councillor and all round excellent fellow and we chatted back in April about his life as an outdoor swimmer and the achievements that he gained in later life. During Lockdown Owen has been swimming in the River Wharfe upstream of Ilkley and so we chatted about his relationship to the river and the really sh**ty problems that bathers, anglers and others who enjoy the river, are encountering with river pollution
I spoke to Owen Wells originally for the episode about the Ilkley Clean River Group and If you want to hear more about their work and the problems with river pollution in the UK then please go back and listen to that episode in full once you're done here.
Just to make those of you with sensitive ears aware there are a couple of sweary moments.

Clear Access Clear Waters - Chantelle Grundy
samedi 24 avril 2021 • Duration 20:09
Hello, and welcome to Wild Wimmin the Wild Swimming Podcast, I’m Laura Macdonald.
Today I am chatting about access rights to waterways in England with the utterly lovely Chantelle Grundy. She's an Access & Environment Officer with British Canoeing and very generously agreed to talk Wild Wimmin about the work that she does to bring clarity to the laws on our rights to access the waterways in England through the Clear Access Clear waters campaign. We chatted about how she got started in the water, the vagaries of the law, and why it’s so important to put your swim stories and good works on social media.

Ilkley Clean River Group - Karen Shackleton and Owen Wells
samedi 10 avril 2021 • Duration 37:49
Hello, and welcome to Wild Wimmin the Wild Swimming Podcast, I’m Laura Macdonald.
I’ve got a bit of a different episode for you today: two interviews both about the work of the Ilkley Clean River Group. For those of you who haven't had the pleasure, Ilkley is a delightful little Spa town in West Yorkshire in the North of England, and running through Ilkley is the River Wharfe, which runs for 65 miles from its source in the Yorkshire Dales National Park until it joins the river Ouse.
First off today I’m speaking to Karen Shakleton who founded the Ilkley Clean River Group, after witnessing a Combined sewerage outflow in action. I also recorded a chat with swimmer, town councillor and all round excellent fellow Owen Wells about his life as an outdoor swimmer, his relationship to the river and the really shitty problems that bathers are encountering with river pollution.
