Lance and Matt welcome back friend of the pod Tim Grierson to discuss all things Hot Sun Cool Shroud, the latest offering from Wilco.

In this episode Matt and Lance select songs that uniquely capture the prettier side of Wilco. We all know that Wilco can rock out, but this is a chance to examine some of their most elegant melodies. Also, a unique rule is proposed: no outside research was allowed in the lead-up to the episode.

Welcome to a special episode of the podcast! It's the end of 2023 which means it's that time of year when everyone drops their curated lists of favorite albums and songs from the year. Matt and Lance raise a glass and discuss their favorites from the year.

'Tis the season to get together with friends and... family! What better way to celebrate and reflect on the holiday season than to have a reflection on the complex thing that is "family." Matt and Lance reflect on the topic by examining Wilco as a type of family as well as exploring their own relationships with family members.

Lance and Matt explore the theme of gratefulness within Wilco's music for a special Thanksgiving-themed episode. Also included is a discussion of Jeff Tweedy's 3rd book.

Over the decades Wilco has covered their fair share of other artists' songs. Thanks to a suggestion from a listener's comment on Instagram, Matt and Lance delve into some of their favorites from the Wilco cover catalog.

Mikael Jorgensen's contributions to Wilco's catalog are phenomenal. While you don't always get the best view of his work at a concert, as he's tucked away in the back, this episode's focus hopes to change your view of just how instrumental he is to Wilco's success. The deep dive into his creativity was certainly an enjoyable one for Matt and Lance.

The Summer Spotlight series continues with a focus on all things Glenn Kotche. Kotche is an incredibly talented and technical musician. The guys had so much delving into his history as well as his essential contributions to Wilco.

Having wrapped on season 1, the boys dedicate episodes throughout the summer to featuring individual members of Wilco and their contributions to the band as well as their own individual careers. First up is the extremely talented and oft-overlooked Pat Sansone.

It's time to wind down and wrap up season 1! The boys select their favorite closing tracks from Wilco albums and it's the first time that the song is chosen by both Matt and Lance. They also detail what's next for the podcast in season 2 as well as a summer mini-season. A nostalgic recap of season 1 is also discussed as the boys recall their favorite episodes.

In yet another guest episode the boys get the chance to meet with Daniel Cook Johnson, author of Wilcopedia: A Comprehensive Guide to the Music of America's Best Band, and listen to him talk about the creation of his book and his deep love of all things Wilco. It was a special occasion as the boys get to personally thank him as his work is very frequently cited on the show. In this episode Lance is hyperactive and Matt is quiet.

Observer, the Lenoir News-Topic, and Indy Week. He has maintained his own Film Babble Blog since 2004, and from 2010 to 2016 was the Wilco Examiner for the former website Examiner.com. He lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, with his two cats, Bob and Watson.

The boys have been stuck on "shouting out" different things on the show lately. They realized that Wilco have also referenced other things within their songs. Some of their shout outs might surprise you.

An episode one year in the making is finally yours to hear! Lance and Matt connect with Ashwin Deepankar, Wilco's drum tech and stage manager, and connect over a shared fandom of Wilco. Ashwin presents a candid look at what it's like to go from being a fan of your favorite band to being hired to work with them.

Ashwin Deepankar is a backline technician and stage manager for Wilco Touring World. When he is not on the road he is The Loft session assistant. Outside of working with Wilco he is a drummer and recording engineer who has been in the Chicago music scene for well over a decade. Currently, he is working on a music project with his wife, Shara called Aatmaa which will be released this year. He resides in Chicago, IL with Shara.

In this exciting episode featuring guest Mark Greenberg, the manager of the legendary Loft, Lance and Matt geek out and ask questions about Wilco's creative processes. Some of the topics discussed were Wilco's collaborative approach as a band of six individuals, what it's like to work with Jeff Tweedy, and some of the best things about working at an impressive recording facility. Fun was had by all!

Matt and Lance settle in for an honest conversation about America in light of the upcoming 2024 election.

Pull up a seat at the bonfire and lend an ear! We've got Marcus Nuccio on the pod today, "live" from the Chicago 'burbs. If you were at Solid Sound 2024, you likely saw Marcus drumming with Ratboys. Marcus also lends his talents to Chicago-based bands Pet Symmetry and What Gives. 

Today on the pod we welcome multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer (or "decomposer" as she prefers it), Yuka Honda. Yuka has collaborated with several music giants including Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon, The Beastie Boys, Mike Watt, David Byrne....the list goes on! Yuka performs solo electronic music as EUCADEMIX and her latest release Farm Psychedelia II is available now on Bandcamp. Yuka also performs with her husband Nels Cline in the group CUP. Dive on in! This is a fun one.
