| Episode 219: A Conversation With Tony Hsieh and My Tribute To Him. | 05 Dec 2020 | 01:06:05 | |
Tony Hsieh was my visionary friend, mentor and investor. He continues to be one of my greatest teachers. He’s a constant voice in my head and grin in my heart. In this episode, Tony shares his wisdom, which is pulled from our previous conversation on the show. I also share some of my greatest lessons and favorite memories. He passed away on November 27th.
Tony sold his first company to Microsoft at age 24 for $265 million. He then went on to sell Zappos to Amazon for $1.2 Billion in 2009. Yet those weren’t his biggest wins to date, in my opinion. His most notable successes, which we discuss in the show, has nothing to do with money.
Tony delivered happiness as his main gig but he also delivered dreams as a side hustle. Moonlighter. He believed in me before I learned to believe in myself.
Tony goes big. He did this at scale with many beneficiary-mentees. Many of which have become very good friends of mine over time. He was an open-source style kind of guy. Sharing was his thing. Tony collected friends and experiences, not things. He’s the shoe dude who could care less about shoes, it was all about the delivery.
We lost a visionary. He will be deeply missed, remembered and celebrated. RIP Tony Hsieh 1973 - 2020.

| Episode 211: Dr. Meredith Provost - From Having Zero Following to Going Viral on TikTok | 19 Oct 2020 | 01:05:21 | |
Dr. Meredith Provost is a minivan-driving mom and fertility doctor who started sharing her voice online this year. She had no social media footprint when she became a Renegade student.
Fast-forward and she goes viral on TikTok. Meredith shares step-by-step how this happened and how she started owning her voice. Her message resonated because she showed up consistently and shared a message that’s important to her.
When you are unapologetically true to yourself, your tribe will find you. Going viral on TikTok is not the point here. That’s just a side-effect. Meredith talks about her goal, how she measures success and how she’s still figuring out exactly what “conversion” looks like for her. With action comes clarity.
It’s not every day you see physicians humanizing themselves on social media. This conversation with Meredith is wide-ranging. We talk about how she got her start and how staying true to herself has led her to a career that could have looked much differently.

| Amy Jo Martin - Part 3 How To Reinvent Your Day & Relationship With Time (Ep 315) | 26 Jan 2024 | 00:43:25 | |
This is the final episode of Amy Jo’s 3 part series all about reinventing your relationship time and money. We encourage you to listen to Part 1 (Ep 313) and Part 2 (Ep 314) before pushing play on Part 3. In this last installment, Amy Jo focuses on the money side of things. To be clear, this is not investment advice, but you will learn how to potentially earn more and save more. Amy Jo shares her specific money story and how that has changed over the last ten years. The net/net? Sacrifice does not equal success. Period. Our earning potential is highest when we are expanding our capacity and optimizing our bandwidth. Sometimes that means spending money to create more time. Amy Jo explains how. She also shares what she is looking at specifically in her budget, and how she uses that data to determine if she is operating at her full earning potential. You’ll learn the importance of assigning a value to your hours, and start making decisions based on the value of your time, as well as the difference in approaching finances from a confident place as opposed to doing so out of fear, and with a scarcity mindset. Finally, Amy Jo takes you through the 5 Renegade Rules as a refresher so you can apply the rules to what you’ve learned over the last 3 episodes and beyond. Elaine Wellness founder, Elaine Morrison joins Amy Jo on the show this week.
Elaine’s Why Not Now is engrained in her company. After facing health issues, Elaine took it upon herself to create a solution that would become Elaine Wellness. The key word being “almost”. What Elaine chose to do in that situation is a story of resilience, strength, and proof of what can happen when you look at potential failure as a stepping stone rather than a roadblock.
Elaine also talks about her experience in Amy Jo’s Renegade Brand Bootcamp & how it helped her reveal her brand essence as well as the answer to the question “what do you do?” She also discusses the importance of taking time to listen to your internal GPS as well as tapping into your resilience & the privilege of aging.

| Episode 201: Dr. Gay Hendricks - 4 Steps to Solving Any Problem | 22 Aug 2020 | 00:39:17 | |
Dr. Gay Hendricks has been a leader in the fields of relationship transformation and body-mind transformation for more than 45 years. He earned his Ph.D. from Stanford and served as Professor of Counseling Psychology at the University of Colorado for 21 years.
Gay has written more than 40 books, two of my favorites include The Big Leap and Five Wishes. He has appeared on more than 500 radio and TV shows including Oprah, CNN, CNBC and others. I’ve been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work with Gay and his wisdom is unmatched. Most voices of authority in this realm stick with the academic theory but Gay has a beautiful way of blending and weaving through his life experiences into his teachings as well.
In this episode from the Why Not Now? archives, Gay talks about how an argument with a partner led to his Why Not Now? moment which allowed him to identify a pattern and it changed his life. He shares the four steps that allow you to solve any problem, as well as the danger of unexpressed creative potential. | Episode 199: Leadership, Failure & Self-Optimization with Eran Zinman, Co-Founder of monday.com | 08 Aug 2020 | 00:53:03 | |
Your “Why Not Now?” moment may not always be about starting something new. What happens if that moment comes when it’s time to end something? Eran Zinman, Co-Founder & CTO of monday.com, and Amy Jo discuss that very thing in this episode.
Eran’s “Why Not Now?” came after he realized he hadn’t validated the idea for his first company properly and had built a product that nobody wanted. He then decided to close the business. Rather than jumping straight into starting something new, Eran knew he needed to take the time to learn the things he didn’t know, in order to be successful. That intentional path of learning led him to create monday.com.
Eran talks through how to tell the difference between a bump in the road, and when it’s time to re-evaluate your idea. He also shares what questions to ask when you’re at a point in your journey of not knowing when to let things happen or make them happen, and his thoughts on why being afraid to fail is a surefire way to actually fail.
One of Eran’s superpowers is his ability to curate a successful team, and in-turn be a successful leader. You’ll learn why it’s so important to get the right people on your team, his tips on self-optimization, his philosophy on transparency, and how that philosophy provides a sense of ownership and togetherness across the entire monday.com company.
Eran also shares the meaning behind a phrase that is a new favorite in our office; changing your playground.

| Episode 194: Alicia Menendez - Laying A Foundation For Your Next Career Move | 04 Jul 2020 | 00:49:06 | |
Alicia Menendez is a Writer, MSNBC Anchor, and Advocate for Women in the Workplace. She is the author of "The Likeability Trap: How To Break Free and Succeed As You Are".
Alicia shares a Why Not Now? moment that effected every aspect of her life, career, and those she was working with. She explains the questions she asked herself, and the process she applied, to see if the “risk” was worth it to potentially put her career in jeopardy, which led her to drill down on what she actually wanted out of her next career move.
She discusses losing and gaining momentum and being open to putting a few opportunities, and side gigs, together to lay a foundation for your next move.
Alicia has been described as “unflusterable”. She talks through her methodology when she starts to feel flustered, and how you can use her tools in your own day.
Alicia gives an overview of her book "The Likeability Trap" and how we look at “likability” in today’s society, specifically when it comes to women in the workplace.
You’ll learn why there’s a call for authentic leadership in the workplace, and how we can do better as a culture to reckon with the idea of likability as a cover for bias.
You’ll learn how you can create meaningful feedback and evaluations that take a 360-degree approach to incorporate opinions of many, versus the opinion of one, and how you can ask better questions when receiving feedback.
Alicia also shares her thoughts on branding, and why you don’t have to be all things to all people to be a brand, as long as you are authentic to yourself and are known for what you want to be known for.

A solo series with Amy Jo! In this first episode of a three-part series, you’ll hear how Amy Jo is reinventing her relationship with time (and how you can too). You will learn tactical tips so you can do the same. Amy Jo has overhauled how she spends her days. The catalyst for this reinvention? Some tough, life-changing lessons. You will learn how to optimize your bandwidth (finite 24 hours in a day) and expand your capacity (infinite potential). Hint: Getting up earlier and earlier is not a strategy. When we make friends with the data, (aka make friends with reality), we start to see tangible change. Reinvention is a daily practice. Amy Jo has never seen the level of exhaustion in people's eyes that she sees now. After looking in the mirror, she realized that she also slipped into this boat. Amy Jo shares what is required for reinvention. She explains the difference between your bandwidth and your capacity. She teaches how to design and execute your ideal day by using a time budget and how to conduct a time audit. These tools are invaluable for you in order to change your days. You’ll also learn what to do if you are not feeling a sense of growth, fulfillment and joy in your life and career, and the three things you can do today to start expanding your bandwidth and your capacity. Amy Jo is brutally honest and acknowledges she hasn’t figured everything out but the concepts and tactics she shares can make a considerable difference in how you spend your days - which is how you spend your life.
