120. Here are my favorite highlights from May!05 Jun 202500:22:12

I can tell you that aging is hard.

I don't like feeling little aches and pains during my day! And my sleep can be so challenging.

This is why I'm highlighting my takeaways with my guest, Zora of Hack My Age.

Zora suggested using red light therapy to help reduce inflammation and accelerate healing. I'm a huge fan of using red light therapy. I've used it throughout my cancer journey. I find that it has helped me with wound healing and muscle recovery.

Red light therapy uses red and near-infrared light wavelengths to stimulate cellular function. This stimulation boosts adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production, thereby enhancing cellular processes such as healing, repair, and reducing inflammation.

I also use a sauna blanket to help with detoxing the JUNK out of my system, and the sauna I use is also a source of infrared light.

Home saunas can be very pricey and BIG! I have a small home, so having a sauna blanket is ideal for me. It's like a sleeping bag sauna: I lie on my bed, turn it on, and sweat it out. Afterward, I wipe it down and store it in the closet—so easy!

______ Vitali Regenerative Skin Care

Have you heard about copper peptides?

I hadn't either until I listened to today's guest talk about them on her podcast. She interviewed the founder of Vitali Regenerative Skin Care, Debbi Barber.

I was so intrigued with their discussion about copper peptides and how they can soften scars, regenerate skin, and even help crepey skin look better.

It's not often that I stop what I'm doing, read research, and order the products, but that's precisely what I did!

And then I emailed Vitali Skin Care and asked for a coupon for my community. In hindsight, I should have asked for the coupon for my order, but nonetheless, you get 20% off your order!

I'm trying the body creme and skin serum. I will keep you posted on my results! https://www.vitaliskincare.com/discount/cancerwarrior?ref=cbkmpsij

119. Is It Ever Too Late?29 May 202500:31:36

This was my big question for today's guest, Zora Benhamou, the Queen of Mid-Life Hacks.

What did I mean? Is it ever too late to eat healthy, start an exercise routine, or learn to meditate?

Zora's answer surprised me, she said It's Never Too Late!

However, there's no time like the present to get started. The longer you wait, the fewer results you may see.

She made some excellent suggestions on how to get started,

Exercise is a key component. But, how much is enough, and is walking the best place to start?

Walking is a good place for most of us to start, HOWEVER, adding more muscle to your body can truly change how your body ages. Here's how adding in some weight training can help:

Improved Cardiovascular Health: Increased muscle mass is linked to better heart health.

Increased Energy and Metabolism: Muscles burn more calories than fat, boosting metabolism and energy levels.

Improved Cognitive Function: Muscle health is associated with better cognitive function, and strength training may enhance it.

Increased Longevity: Greater muscular strength is linked to increased longevity.

And this is just a partial list of all the benefits of adding strength work.

Zora had more suggestions for hacking your age. One of my favorites was making my skin look tighter and less crepey. Midlife girls, you know exactly what I'm talking about!

She recommended trying the Vitali products, which I ordered immediately. Fingers crossed.

I'm trying the body creme and skin serum. I will keep you posted on my results!

110. Pressing Pause: Navigating Cancer with Dr. Laura James, Naturopathic Oncologist (Re-Release)27 Mar 202500:59:23

In today’s episode, we are joined by my naturopathic oncologist, Dr. Laura James.

As you listen to our discussion, it's essential to acknowledge the whirlwind that accompanies a cancer diagnosis. For many, including myself, the speed at which treatment unfolds can be both a blessing and a challenge. The urgency of medical intervention, coupled with the support of excellent health insurance and the unique circumstances of the COVID-19 era, can lead to a swift entry into what is commonly referred to as the breast cancer industrial complex.

But what exactly does this term mean? It's a new concept that encompasses medical advancements, institutional processes, and societal expectations surrounding cancer treatment. While grateful for the prompt attention and care received, there's an underlying need to address the implications of this fast-paced medical industry.

For me, and perhaps for many others, navigating the breast cancer industrial complex has raised questions about agency, reflection, and informed decision-making. The speed at which decisions are made can sometimes overshadow the opportunity for thorough consideration, prayer, and seeking second opinions—elements crucial to holistic well-being.

Together with Dr. James, we'll explore the importance of empowerment in the face of medical urgency, the role of advocacy in navigating treatment pathways, and the significance of holistic approaches to cancer care.

Air Dr.

I've been using the Air Doctor air purifier for almost a year and absolutely love it! I first heard about it from Dr. Mark Hyman, and even though it was a bit of a splurge compared to what I usually spend, I'm so glad I invested. Every time I change the filter and see all the gunk it collects, I smile, knowing it's doing a great job keeping my air clean!

And I'm so happy that all that gunk isn't going into my body ;

Just Add Buoy

Companies contact me every week, asking me to try their products.

Honestly, I get food and supplement samples almost weekly!

Last week, a San Diego company called Just Add Buoy emailed me to ask if I wanted to try their electrolyte formula.

I said yes because I've been looking for an electrolyte formula (without tons of sugar, both fake and real and no dyes) for years.

They sent me some samples, and I must tell you how much I love them.

I'm trying the Hydration Drops, and they have 87 trace minerals, Ionic ocean electrolytes, and antioxidants. And, also important to me, NO SUGAR (FAKE OR REAL), NO ADDITIVES OR DYES. And it's non-GMO.

I like that it's flavorless, and I can add it to a smoothie or even my morning coffee without noticing any flavor change.

33. MOLD: Can That Musty Smell Make You Sick?17 Nov 202200:40:36

33. MOLD: Can That Musty Smell Make You Sick?

I learned much from today's podcast with mold expert Bridgit Danner.

I've never given much thought about mold and the impact it could have on chronic disease or even cancer!

When Bridgit explained that chemical warfare is often made from a mold, she got my attention!

If mold is strong enough to be used in a bomb, what kind of havoc can it create in my body?

Listen to today's episode to learn more about this fascinating topic.

Information About Today’s Guest, Bridgit Danner:

Links to Bridgit's Books:

According to Dr. Isaac Eliaz:

"You may not be aware of it, but mold is probably affecting your health. So even if it’s not on your mind, “how to detox your body from mold” should be something we all need to be asking.

Even if mold is making you sick, you might not know it’s the source of your symptoms. That’s because mold toxicity can act like many other conditions, so it often goes misdiagnosed and untreated. Exposure can cause many different symptoms, including:

  • Fatigue
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Joint pain
  • Memory problems
  • Dizziness
  • Sinus infections
  • Wheezing
  • Trouble concentrating
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Skin rash
  • Digestive problems

One of the main reasons mold toxins can cause so many different symptoms is this: These toxins can suppress or damage your immune system. Not only can they bring on symptoms themselves, they can make you more vulnerable to other illnesses.

Surrounded by Mold

Mold exposure is shockingly common. It’s found in the air, damp or water-damaged buildings, even the food you’re eating. Foods that commonly contain mold include cereal grains, nuts, spices, coffee, bulk foods (like the kind you buy from bins to save money) and dairy products.

You come across mold inside and outside, and it can travel around with you. Mold spores can attach to things like:

  • Clothing
  • Shoes
  • Pets
  • Reusable grocery bags

That means it can come home with you from just about anywhere. And if it ends up somewhere even slightly damp, it will grow and multiply.

In nature, mold speeds up the break down (decomposition) of things like dead trees and fallen leaves. Some molds are used to make cheese or create antibiotics.

But many types of mold can be hazardous to your health. These molds produce mycotoxins, poisons that can cause severe health problems and a wide variety of symptoms.

The two most common harmful mycotoxins are aflatoxin and ochratoxin, and exposure to either (or both) of these can trigger substantial health issues — from chronic allergies to cancer.

What’s more, if your body can’t remove these toxins on its own, they can slip into long-term storage to cause lasting or recurring damage.

Mycotoxins Damage Your Health

Mycotoxins are sneaky. While mold itself can’t enter your bloodstream — though it can hang around and colonize in spots like your nostrils and lungs — mycotoxins can get into your bloodstream and circulate throughout your body.

These opportunistic toxins can hijack your immune system, making you more vulnerable to infections. If your immune system is already compromised (such as people with autoimmune conditions or undergoing cancer treatment), mycotoxins take advantage. If you’re healthy, they can make you very sick.

  • Studies show that mycotoxins can:
  • Cause lung inflammation that can make it harder to breathe
  • Disrupt your gut health by reducing beneficial bacteria and encouraging pathogens
  • Trigger chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Affect brain function and cognition
  • Cause liver damage, including cancer
  • Worsen allergy and asthma symptoms

Unfortunately, mold toxicity is frequently misdiagnosed. Because of its wide-ranging effects, it’s typically mistaken for other conditions including depression, multiple sclerosis, or autoimmune conditions. Plus, because mycotoxins are opportunistic, they’re often connected with debilitating diseases such as Lyme disease, IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and fibromyalgia."

31. Can Unresolved Trauma Lead to Cancer?20 Oct 202200:40:12

31. Can unresolved trauma lead to cancer?

I’ve never even considered that trauma could impact my health.

Dr. Keesha describes health as a puzzle. First you need to find your four corner pieces so you can properly put together the puzzle. It’s the same with our health!

Here are the four puzzle pieces Dr. Keesha recommends putting in place to truly heal our body.

  1. Genetics
  2. Gut Health
  3. Toxic Burden
  4. Trauma (unresolved)

Here is the ACE quiz that Dr. Keesha discussed on the podcast:

30. Can Estrogen Cause Breast Cancer?06 Oct 202200:49:46

30. Can Estrogen Cause Breast Cancer?

I loved this interview with my naturopathic oncologist, Dr. Laura James.

She is a wealth of information and was a great support to me during my breast cancer battle.

We discussed estrogen's role in breast cancer and how too much can be problematic. According to Dr. James, excess estrogen (we pick up a lot of additional estrogen from using plastic and cosmetics) may encourage cancer growth. However, she states that the "jury is still out" on whether estrogen causes cancer.

We also talk about consuming soy products (spoiler alert, I eat soy!) and if some soy products are better than others.

We also discussed a few products I use and that Dr. James recommends for those gosh-darn hot flashes!

29. Year in Review (Part 2)22 Sep 202200:16:22

29. Year in Review (Part 2)

August Brice

Founder of Tech Wellness.

Being around Wi-Fi can disrupt melatonin production, which can impact your sleep.

Studies also show that women who have disrupted sleep (often due to low melatonin levels) have a higher risk of breast cancer.

Distance is your friend when it comes to EMF exposure so try to stay away from Wi-Fi routers and cell towers and never put your phone against your body (skin or head!).

She also told us about the MRI cell phone study with Dr. Lisa Bailey. She studied women who carried their cells phone in their sports bras. On breast MRI imaging, the women who ended up with breast cancer had tumors that mimicked the pattern of their phones.

August suggests we download books and movies and then watch in airplane mode to reduce exposure.

Dr. Leigh Erin Connealy

Dr. Connealy is leading a cancer prevention revolution that focuses on treating the patient with the disease and not the disease of the patient while determining the origin of the illness. She is the author of The Cancer Revolution, which has revolutionized the cancer treatment landscape.

We had a riveting discussion about the fact that the death rate from cancer hasn't changed in the last 50 years.

I find that statement shocking. Millions of dollars are invested yearly in cancer research; how could it be possible that the death rate from cancer hasn't changed?

In her book, Dr. C. cites a Japanese study that found that we have more than 75 million cancer cells in our body at any given time, and usually, our immune system keeps these cells in check. But when the immune system becomes compromised over a long period, these cells can begin to multiply.

Dr. C. also shared that there are over 10 RX written for every man, woman, and child in the US.

We have three basic human needs:

First, to be accepted and loved.

Affirmed and told that you have value.

There's a purpose for your life and people who acknowledge you for who you are.

28. Year in Review (Part 1)

Jamie Winship

Author of one of my favorite books, Living Fearless.

I wish I'd met Jamie and his wife Donna thirty years ago! I would have learned so much from them about fear, managing fear, and not making decisions based on FEAR!

But, sure grateful to know both of them now. I've learned how to manage my fear, but it has taken a bit of practice.

Jamie says that we can ALL manage our fear, and it might be as easy as taking a few deep breaths and pushing the pause button when we get triggered.

One of the techniques I've learned from Jamie is that when life starts to go sideways, I ask myself, Is God for me, against me, or indifferent?

Well, I know God is for me, and asking myself that question in the middle of a fearful moment always seems to calm me down and allow me to get a handle on my thoughts.

Johnny Imerman

Johnny shows people how they can get across the finish line.

He was diagnosed with cancer at a young age, and he realized how important it was to show people (by connecting them with people who had already been through cancer) that they could come out on the other side of cancer.

One of my favorite bible scriptures is proverbs 29, without a vision, a man perishes. Johnny shows people a vision so they can thrive.

Ben Salem

Founder of WaveBlock

Ben has been in the real estate world his entire career, and it was out of necessity that he created his product.

He told me he bought an EMF mentor to check his baby's room for radiation. He was shocked when he discovered how much radiation was around the crib. So, he researched and learned how to create a baby blanket that would deflect the waves.

He then used that tech to create his product, Wave Block.

Necessity is indeed the mother of invention!

Kids' skulls absorb 10x the radiation when compared to an adult skull.

In Europe, many countries have banned Wi-Fi in nurseries and elementary schools.

Jodi Cohen

Founder of Vibrant Blue Oils

A huge takeaway that I didn't hear the first time I listened! Jodi said that when we experience anxiety or panic, it's often a right frontal lobe issue. So, here's her simple hack, stimulate the left side of your frontal lobe to help balance your system and lower your stress and anxiety. Plug the right side of your nostril and inhale out of your left nostril. The key point, smell something in the left nostril. She suggested smelling an orange or a flower. But bottom line, Jodi said smelling something out of the left side, taking about 3-4 breaths, can lower your anxiety!

27. Cancer Made Us Better: A Chat with My Husband01 Sep 202200:29:49

27. Cancer Made Us Better: A Chat with My Husband

I sure wish I had known that there were resources for caregivers during my cancer journey.

Steve and I didn't even think that maybe he would need to be supported or at least have someone to talk to about what he was going through. I was a mess for a few weeks, and he was my rock. But who was his rock? Yes, he is a man of great faith, and we both relied on God to get us through this season. But day to day, we each needed someone to talk to, to vent to, and for someone to say, "I'm here for you even if you don't think you need me."

I had an incredible group of girlfriends (including my precious mom and two daughters) that came alongside me. Kathy (who was two years ahead of me on her breast cancer journey), along with Kim and Patty, dropped everything on my diagnosis day (Sept 1st) to rush over to my house with pink bracelets that we would all wear and Rombauer Chardonnay that we would all drink, haha.

Kim left me daily phone messages in an attempt to make me laugh. The best one was when she accidentally flushed her Tiffany sunglasses down the toilet at Nordstrom-I laughed until I cried on that one :)

The most challenging time for me was telling my mom and the kids. So hard, I had to have Steve tell my mom. She had to put the phone down she was crying so hard.

My church family supported me, my book club, family and friends, and my C3 group (Christian business group of sisters in Christ), and I was given a breast cancer mentor, Liza, through Imerman Angels.

Steve had some friends he shared with (he's also in a C3 group) and a few other guys, but he needed more support.

I'm hopeful that you can discover better ways to support caregivers through our mistakes. Looking back, we would have set up an appointment with a family counselor to discuss the different aspects of cancer support. We also would have reached out to Imerman Angels to get Steve a mentor- this is an incredible service they offer, mentor support for caregivers - all for free!

26. Hollywood, Health, Hope: A Conversation with Samantha Harris18 Aug 202200:38:31

26. Hollywood, Health, Hope: A Conversation with Samantha Harris

I thought I was an energizer bunny, but this gal ran circles around me, haha.

I had so much fun chatting with Samantha, and we realized we both had so much in common (minus the four Emmy® nominations and hanging out with the Kardashians).

When I got my diagnosis, people said, “how could you possibly get cancer? You’re the healthiest person I know.”

Her friends asked Samantha the same questions. Samantha has always been the “healthy one” throughout her life. You know, that person that orders the salad while everyone else is munching on the bacon cheeseburger.

Samantha’s cancer diagnosis started her on a mission to rethink what her healthy looked like; was she truly living her healthiest life?

When she was on camera wearing skin-tight clothing, there was no space for sweating, so she would pull out the big guns and spray on antiperspirant. One of the ways your body gets rid of toxins is through sweating. After her cancer diagnosis, she began to wonder if all the steps she had to take to be successful in her career might have contributed to her breast cancer diagnosis.

Samantha went on a journey to find “her healthiest healthy,” and the results of that quest became the best-selling book, Your Healthiest Healthy.

25. Get Outside and Play! Can That Reduce Cancer Risk?21 Jul 202200:24:37

25. Get Outside and Play! Can That Reduce Cancer Risk?

Sleep can reset your system and allow your body to do what it does best-repair cells that have been damaged!

Are you a good sleeper? Do you fall asleep quickly, or do you get a second wind in the evening? Did you know that spending time on your laptop at night can send a message to your brain that makes it think that it's mid-day and not midnight?

Today's episode with Hilda explores simple ancestral hacks (going outside to get the morning sun) that can help your body reset your circadian rhythm so you can fall asleep faster and stay asleep. And, as long as you're outside, why not take your shoes off and play?

We also discussed how our ancestors spent three-quarters of their time outside, and today, we spend three-quarters of our time inside; the switch isn't doing our bodies any favors.

Hilda teaches us to "stack our hacks" to maximize our health benefits.

Hilda mentions the two experts below during our conversation.

109. Does Alcohol Cause Cancer?20 Mar 202500:36:24

Buckle up for today's episode with The Oncology Dietician, Nichole Andrews.

I like having cocktails with girlfriends. And before I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I never gave it a second thought. Alcohol was part of my social life, or I'd have a glass of wine on a flight to chill out.

Recent research has made me rethink my choices. Research shared by the Susan G. Komen Center tells us that each cocktail I consume can increase my breast cancer risk by 7%. And 2-3 drinks per day can increase my risk by 20%.

I work too damn hard on my health to increase my breast cancer risk by 20% for something I often do mindlessly.

Does this mean I don't drink any alcohol? NOPE.

This means that if I really want that glass of wine, I will make an informed decision and enjoy every sip.

The "old" me would have grabbed the wine and probably a second glass without considering what it might be doing inside my body.

According to today's guest, she believes there are only two things that we consume that can really increase our risk of getting cancer.

Alcohol is one. Any guesses as to what number two is?

Air Doctor

I've been using the AirDoctor air purifier for almost a year and absolutely love it! I first heard about it from Dr. Mark Hyman, and even though it was a bit of a splurge compared to what I usually spend, I'm so glad I invested. Every time I change the filter and see all the gunk it collects, I smile, knowing it's doing a great job keeping my air clean!

And I'm so happy that all that gunk isn't going into my body ;)

24. Can Stress Cause Cancer?14 Jul 202200:23:32

24. Can Stress Cause Cancer?

My big takeaways from today's podcast:

1: The importance of managing stress

2: Ancestral hacks such as going outside first thing in the morning to help reset your circadian rhythm

     3: Turning off the news!

We also discussed the role each of us plays in our health and disease prevention. What if you get cancer surgery but then return to your same environment? Disease isn't always about diet! What kind of thoughts do you think? Are your thoughts positive or negative? Do you surround yourself with encouraging people or discouraging people?

I love this quote Hilda told me from Dr. Jack Kruse, “You can't heal in the same environment that made you sick."

23. Simple Detox Hacks - A Conversation With Dr. Tom O’Bryan16 Jun 202200:52:21

23. Simple Detox Hacks - A Conversation With Dr. Tom O'Bryan

I met Dr. O’Bryan at my national nutrition conference in April.

While he certainly is one of the world’s leading experts in gluten, he also proved to be an expert on the toxins in our environment. For example, he got my attention when he mentioned that the chemicals in nail polish hit our bloodstream within four minutes.

According to research, 50% of men and 41% of women will develop cancer in their lifetime. What is causing this epidemic of cancer in our world? I know that there’s no easy answer, but I think we’d be foolish not to take a look at the toxins that surround us as possible contributors to this disease.

According to Dr. O’Bryan, we are in contact with over 700,000 toxins daily! Listen to today’s podcast to learn some of his simple hacks to reduce the toxins in your life; spoiler alert, one of these hacks was used by NASA! 😊

Dr. Tom O'Bryan’s goal for you is ‘Making It Easy To Do the Right Thing’. As an internationally recognized, admired and compassionate speaker focusing on food sensitivities, environmental toxins, and the development of autoimmune diseases, Dr. Tom's audiences discover that it is through a clear understanding of how you got to where you are, that you and your Dr. can figure out what it will take to get you well. Dr. O’Bryan is considered a ‘Sherlock Holmes’ for chronic disease and teaches that recognizing and addressing the underlying mechanisms that activate an immune response is the map to the highway towards better health.

His 2016 ground-breaking book, winner of the National Book Award and ranked #1 in several categories on Amazon.com, The Autoimmune Fix, outlines the step-by-step development of degenerative diseases and gives the tools to identify our disease process years before the symptoms are obvious and how to turn your health around, one step at a time. He is the founder of www.theDr.com and the visionary behind ‘The Gluten Summit - A Grain of Truth’, bringing together 29 of the world’s experts on the gluten connection to diseases, disorders, and a wide range of symptoms and ages. 22. What You Smell Impacts Your Health - Essential Oils & Health!02 Jun 202200:30:43

22. What You Smell Impacts Your Health - Essential Oils & Health!

According to Dr. Josh Axe:

Essential oils have been used for thousands of years in various cultures for medicinal and health purposes. Because of their antidepressant, stimulating, detoxifying, antibacterial, antiviral and calming properties, they continue to gain popularity as natural, safe and cost-effective therapy for a number of health concerns.

There’s no wonder why considering the high cost of health care bills and the side effects of conventional medications. Adding such oils to your personal medicine cabinet and lifestyle can make a world of difference.

I’m so excited for you to listen to today’s podcast with Jodi Cohen, founder of the essential oils company, Vibrant Blue Oils.

We had a very simple conversation about health.

Eat, sleep, move and POOP!

Can health really be that simple? YES! Please join us for today’s podcast repeat so you can truly understand that good health can be a simple eating, moving and well, pooping 😉

I started using essential oils thirty years ago on my clients. Back then it was a little too “woo-woo” to get my clients excited about using them.

Fast forward to today where there’s scientific research touting the benefits of essential oil use, woot-woot!

Jodi goes on to explain that our sense of smell is 10,000 times more sensitive than any of our other senses.

I’m a HUGE fan of essential oils and I think use them on a daily basis.

Here’s a few of my favorites: Parasympathetic Blend (I use this first thing in the morning to set my system up to stay calm throughout my day), I also use the Calm oil during the day and the Circadian Rhythm Blend at night.

21. Clean Beauty – A Conversation with Gabriel of Gabriel Cosmetics, Inc.19 May 202200:39:53

21. Clean Beauty – A Conversation with Gabriel of Gabriel Cosmetics, Inc.

I was shocked when Gabriel told me that we each have 5-7 pounds of skin and that our skin is our biggest organ. The skin works as a filter, so what goes on our skin goes into our bodies. Yikes! It made me think about what types of products I use on my skin, hair, and nails.

Ironically, I just returned from my annual National Association of Nutritional Professionals conference. One of the speakers mentioned that within 4 minutes of using nail polish, the chemicals from the polish hit our bloodstream.

When you hear two messages within days that sound the same, I know it's a sign!

One of my big takeaways from my conversation with Gabriel is how we can make our own or DIY natural products. For example, he likes to use Jojoba oil as a moisturizer, and he cooks with essential oils.

Listen to the podcast episode to learn more of his DIY secrets!

Gabriel is also offering a coupon to podcast listeners: Enos25 for 25% off!

Gabriel De Santino is the founder and CEO of Gabriel Cosmetics, Inc., a global natural beauty empire whose brands include Gabriel, Zuzu Luxe, and Clean Kids Naturally.

Born of Latin descent and raised off the coast of Mexico, Gabriel, at an early age, was naturally drawn to the coastal life and heavily influenced by his grandmother's holistic practices. At the age of 18, Gabriel moved to Seattle, Washington. He knew the Pacific Northwest had a rising fashion and beauty scene and joined the movement at a local beauty counter. It was there that Gabriel fell in love with makeup but was also inspired to look past the made-up face. He soon secured a position at a salon & spa to learn more about the industry and how he may change it. After attending aesthetician school, he quickly discovered he wanted to first correct the skin before covering it up, a mantra he still practices today. As an aesthetician, he struggled because women were using toxic products on their skin. But, given his background as a naturopath and familiarity with sea botanicals, his calling was loud and clear.

In 1992, he solicited his friends and family's moral and financial support. As a result, he started Gabriel Organics, a complete line of all-natural, vegan, gluten-free, and cruelty-free skincare products made with seaweed as its hero ingredient.

Gabriel Cosmetic Inc.'s prestige and diverse brand portfolio were created out of one man's vision of clearly defining natural beauty and being able to provide affordable and accessible vegan beauty products to consumers worldwide.

Gabriel Cosmetics, Inc. is headquartered in its original area of Redmond, Washington, with over 25 employees and its fearless leader, Gabriel De Santino, leading the charge every step of the way.

20. Meditation is Medication - Part Two of My Conversation with Dr. Leigh Erin Connealy05 May 202200:26:54

20. Meditation is Medication - Part Two of My Conversation with Dr. Leigh Erin Connealy

My podcast guest this week is part two of my conversation with Dr. C, and she says that Meditation is the Medication.

We need to get a better handle on our stress. Stress is a normal part of our day. She is concerned about the long-term chronic stress that will raise our levels of inflammation. When inflammation is high for long periods, our body gets very challenged, and that's how diseases like cancer can occur.

She told me how years ago, she went to La Jolla to meditate with Deepak Chopra and walked away thinking, well, nobody will want to do that! Fast forward twenty years, and she tells me the science is clear, Meditation can help you lower your stress levels, lower your levels of inflammation, and help you sleep more soundly. In addition, these benefits will support your immune system so it can do its job-killing invaders such as cancer cells.

I know I need to manage my stress better.

I'm a hyper person. I was always in trouble for talking too much in school.

I was even prescribed Ritalin for a time.

I also have a hard time sitting still, but I also want to be a more peaceful person, ahhh!

I make Meditation more stressful than it should be. Meditation is just one more item that I don't accomplish on my daily to-do list. Instead of stressing out about how I'm not meditating, I will make it work for me.

I'm going to start small:

  • Move my body a bit, go for a short walk or stretch a bit.
  • Get outside.
  • Focus on breathing.
  • I will observe my surroundings and be grateful.

What I do to manage my stress might not be a traditional type of meditation but it’s a start!

19. Stress & Cancer - a Candid Conversation with Dr. Leigh Erin Connealy28 Apr 202200:32:49

19. Stress & Cancer - a Candid Conversation with Dr. Leigh Erin Connealy

Dr. Connealy is leading a cancer prevention revolution that focuses on treating the patient with the disease and not the disease of the patient while determining the origin of the illness. She is the author of The Cancer Revolution, which has revolutionized the landscape of cancer treatment.

We had a riveting discussion about the fact that the death rate from cancer hasn't changed in the last 50 years. I find that statement shocking. Millions of dollars are invested yearly in cancer research; how could it be possible that the death rate from cancer hasn't changed?

In her book, Dr. C. sites a Japanese study that found that we have more than 75 million cancer cells in our body at any given time, and usually, our immune system keeps these cells in check. But when the immune system becomes compromised over a long period, these cells can begin to multiply.

Give today's podcast episode a listen to hear her fascinating answer!

Other topics we covered:

  • Stress
  • Only 5% or less of our cancer risk appears to be due to genetics.
  • Can exercise help prevent cancer?
  • The link between EMFs and disease
  • The role toxins play in cancer and other diseases
  • Cancer is now the leading cause of death in children
  • Nanoplastics

According to Dr. Connealy, we are ingesting about a credit card size each day of plastic. Unfortunately, eating plastic isn't doing our health any favors. The latest research shows that these nano plastic/particles, due to their small size and molecular properties, can penetrate the cells and cause harmful effects.

With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Connealy has become a prominent leader in the field of Functional Medicine. She utilizes the best of all sciences, including conventional, homeopathic, eastern medicine, and modern medicine. She is the founder and medical director of the Cancer Center for Healing and Center for New Medicine. The combined 30,000 S.F. clinics have become the largest integrative medical clinic in North America and have been visited by over 70,000 patients.

18. Protect Your Peace to Prevent Disease (with Dr. Gregg Jantz)21 Apr 202200:37:21

18. Protect Your Peace to Prevent Disease (with Dr. Gregg Jantz)

Mental health, stress, and anxiety: we've all experienced these feelings.

I work to protect my peace.

What does that mean?

I'm careful about who is in my life, and I'm cautious about what I listen to because that goes directly to my mind.

Listen to today's podcast with Dr. Gregg Jantz to learn his easy tips to help you protect your peace. He was very clear with me that there are things we can do daily to have more peace and, thus, better health. Here are some of my favorite tips that I do daily to create more peace in my life (all of my tips received a big thumbs up from Dr. J!). I've worked hard to surround myself with encouraging and kind people.

I've also canceled our television cable, which allows me to choose how and when I hear the news.

I had to recognize what I could control to guard my peace.

What I can control today:

  • What I'm hearing.
  • What I'm eating and drinking.
  • How did I respond to negative situations or people?
  • My attitude.
  • That. Is. It.

Once I realized that I could control these things and only these things (newsflash, I had to learn I couldn't control people), my stress levels started to change, and I found my joy returning.

Here's the daily ritual I do to protect my peace:

  • I start my day with a glass of water while I look out my window and not at my PHONE.
  • I make a cup of coffee and walk outside, rain or shine, and look toward the sun, not at the sun as that can damage your eyes.
  • I return inside and read my Bible and write in my gratitude journal.
  • I take five deep breaths and do a little bit of stretching at the top of every hour.

108. I Wish I Would Have Known! My Key 2024 Takeaways13 Mar 202500:24:19

I wish I could have a "do-over" in two areas of my life:

  1. Prioritizing my morning schedule
  2. Speaking positively about situations or people instead of negatively.

When my morning routine is off, the rest of my day suffers. I've FINALLY learned to listen to my inner voice, which advises me to take it slow in the morning instead of jumping straight into emails and calls.

I give three tips on starting my day on today's podcast.

Here's a sneak peek at one of my tips:

TURN OFF THE LOUD ALARM ON YOUR PHONE.

Hearing a loud noise while sleeping immediately puts your body into a stressful situation. Your blood pressure and heart rate increase, and your body starts making stress hormones. It can take hours for your body to calm down.

Instead, I found some gentle instrumental music and used that as my alarm sound.

This simple morning hack has added much-needed calmness to my morning, and I find that relaxed "vibe" spills over into the rest of my day.

Winning!

Confession time:

I'm not always upbeat and cheery. Shocking, huh?

I find that when my stress level goes up, my mindset and attitude get a little, well, poopy.

Last week, I decided to spend a week making only positive statements.

Guess what? It was a little quiet around my house because I wasn't complaining about the world, news, my recent breast reconstruction, you name it.

I learned a valuable lesson: sometimes, when I want to connect with my husband after work, it's easier to default to negative.

UGH, help me. I'm a work in progress, but I am learning.

Listen to today's short solo episode to learn more of my simple tips for encouraging yourself and lowering your morning stress levels.

Seriously, these tips work!

______

13. The Health-Giving Power of Emotional Freedom! Chatting with Auntie Anne

In this episode, I continue my conversation with Auntie Anne. We discuss walking in emotional freedom, and understanding the power this has over your health & wellbeing.

Auntie Anne Beiler is best known as the founder of Auntie Anne’s®, the world’s largest pretzel franchise. But before rising to success, Anne went through years of defeat, despair, and depression that kept her stuck in a place of darkness. It was through her pain, however, that she discovered a new purpose.

Jonas and Anne’s peaceful life as newlyweds and young parents went into a tailspin after the death of their 19-month-old daughter, Angela Joy, who died tragically in a farming accident in 1975. Anne, in her mid-20s at the time, found herself descending into a world of darkness and depression, and eventually on the brink of suicide. Despite being a faithful churchgoer, she didn’t feel she could share her pain with friends or family members. She became silent and lost her voice.

Jonas and Anne drifted apart. They didn’t know how to talk about the deep pain they were both experiencing. Instead, they remained silent partners who simply lived together and went through the motions of family life.

Anne sought counsel from her pastor, who used the vulnerability of her grief to manipulate and abuse her for more than six years. This abuse of spiritual power propelled Anne into intense pain, blame, and shame that she thought would kill her.

After confessing all of this to her husband, Jonas and Anne sought counseling and began a journey towards healing. The Beiler’s reconciled as God restored their marriage. Through the repair of their own marriage, Jonas found himself wanting to help others that were suffering from the same despair and hopelessness. He had a vision of offering free counseling services to their community.

To support Jonas’ vision to help others, Anne bought a concession stand in 1988 at a busy farmers’ market in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Their soft pretzels were a hit and Auntie Anne’s® was born.

So, she began to confess. She shared her story publicly – the good, the bad, and the ugly – and something amazing happened. She felt lighter. She started to feel freedom. Anne continued to share her story whenever she could, and as she did, she was able to work through all the issues that tormented her – guilt, shame, pain, anger, depression, and the list goes on.

11. Go Outside and Play! Can That Reduce Cancer Risk?

Sleep can reset your system and allow your body to do what it does best - repair cells that have been damaged!

Hilda mentions the two experts below during our conversation:

10. Can Stress Cause Cancer?20 Jan 202200:24:01

Give today's podcast a listen for simple hacks to improve your health.

Yes, we all have cell phones, and most of us have no idea that it says to NOT PUT YOUR CELL PHONE NEAR YOUR BODY in the user guide. Well, that certainly was news to me.

Join us on this podcast as August discusses why we should heed the warning that cell phone companies recommend keeping the phone away from our body and head.

Eat, sleep, move and POOP!

Can health really be that simple? YES!

I’m so excited for you to listen to today’s episode with Jodi Cohen, founder of Vibrant Blue Oils.

I’m a HUGE fan of essential oils and I think I own just about every oil that Vibrant Blue Oil sells. 😊

Here’s a few of my favorites: parasympathetic blend (I use this first thing in the morning to set my system up to stay calm throughout my day), I also use the calm oil during the day and the circadian rhythm blend at night.

107. Oprah Super Soul Guest, Kris Carr's Courageous Journey. (Re-Release)06 Mar 202500:52:03

I first saw Kris on The Oprah Winfrey Show years ago, long before I was diagnosed with cancer.

Kris has been living with stage four incurable cancer for twenty-one years. She has tumors inside of her body, and yet she can still love and appreciate her body.

Do you struggle to love your body?

I think about how I've had a love/hate relationship with my body throughout my life.

That's a long time without being in a constant state of appreciation for the body God gave me.

Kris told me she is a difficult person and has to work to approach life from a place of love—love for other people and love for herself, her whole self, tumors, and all.

I don't have to tell you how much strength it takes to face each day with LOVE, all while having an incurable form of cancer.

If there's one podcast you listen to this week, this is it.

About Kris Carr

Kris Carr is a beacon of hope, resilience, and wellness leadership. As a New York Times bestselling author and esteemed wellness advocate, Kris Carr has defied the odds, thriving with stage IV cancer for over two decades.

It's happened...I'm putting beef tallow on my face, and my skin looks lush, and it doesn't smell like a hamburger :)

I've seen the TikTok videos about beef tallow. I avoided trying it because it sounded like I'd be putting grease on my face.

Enough people asked me about it, so I started reading more information and trying out various tallows.

There was one company that stood out to me.

I feel like I hit a home run with the brand Toups and Co.

I first heard of this brand on a friend's podcast (Holistic Hilda with the Weston A Price Foundation). She interviewed the founder, Emily Toups. She was a mom looking for a solution to her child's skin issues. She was frustrated with the lack of progress with drugstore and prescription meds, so she reached out to a local farmer for tallow.

The rest, as they say, is history. Her daughter is healed, and my skin looks great, haha!

Thank you, Toups Family, for making such excellent products and offering my community a 15% discount.

I'm currently using:

  • Frankincense Skim Balm
  • Blue Tansy Body Oil
  • The Nourishing Skin Care Set (this includes skin balm, body oil, tinted lip chap, and a tallow bar—and it's on sale!).
  • Deodorant - it really works!

04. EMFs: Health Impact & Usable Tips to Manage Exposure30 Sep 202100:28:02

04. EMFs: Health Impact & Usable Tips to Manage Exposure

Today's guest is Ben Salem, founder of Wave Block.

Ben has been in the real estate world his entire career, and it was out of necessity that he created his product.

He told me that he bought an EMF mentor to check his baby's room for radiation. He was shocked when he discovered how much radiation was around the crib. So he did some research and learned how to create a baby blanket that would deflect the waves.

He then used that tech to create his product, WaveBlock.

Necessity is indeed the mother of invention!

There are native EMFs (electromagnetic frequencies) that come from the sun or earth, and then there are non-native, which come from cell phones, earbuds, and electric blankets, to name just a few.

Many countries are now banning or limiting Wi-Fi in nurseries in an effort to protect children. A child's skull is ten times thinner than an adult skull.

When I bought my first home in the early 90s, there was much talk about not living under powerlines due to EMFs. What's the answer? Are non-native EMFs dangerous? If other countries are starting to limit exposure in children, should we look at doing that here? What can we do to try to limit our EMF exposure while still enjoying our devices?

03. Loneliness is the Enemy of Cancer Treatment — Mentorship Can Help You Cross the Finish Line

In this episode, I have a wonderful conversation with Jonny Imerman, founder of Imerman Angels.

During my treatment, I was surrounded by people, but I felt alone. I was blessed to have a loving family and friends to bring me meals or take me to doctor appointments, but I still felt alone.

The social worker at the hospital suggested I reach out to Imerman Angels and ask for a mentor. I was paired with Liza in Chicago who had already “crossed the finish line” with her breast cancer treatment. She encouraged me to do the same. I felt “heard” when I talked to her about my fears and concerns.

Being “heard” is one of the paths out of loneliness.

I hope you enjoy this episode where Jonny shares his heart for people.

02. The Role Fears Plays in Cancer & How to Get Out of Fear-Based Thinking in SECONDS!

I’ve known Jamie and his wonderful wife, Donna, for years. They know how to help someone get out of fear-based thinking fast!

In my younger days, I let fear run my life. I made so many important life decisions. I was scared, including getting married right when I graduated college because I didn’t think I could “make it” on my own - ugh!

Fast forward to getting diagnosed with cancer, and I started to feel that fear creeping back into my life. I had to take back control. I wish I had this podcast episode with Jamie to listen to a year ago - his simple tips would have gotten me out of fear quickly - but at the end of the day, it’s up to me to stay out of fear.

01. Intro & Welcome

Why did I start this podcast? Because I wanted to find out if there was any way I could have prevented breast cancer.

Look, I know that crappy things happen to people :) But as a certified nutritionist and health coach, I had a natural curiosity to figure out the WHY behind why I got cancer.

This episode is a quick intro about what you can expect on my podcast and a bit about my journey.

Why Did I Get Cancer? Trailer03 Sep 202100:02:54

I'm Deborah Herlax Enos.

I'm a small-town girl turned TV nutritionist and healthy living expert. I design health programs for the average guy or gal.

I did the best I could to take care of myself while helping others take care of themselves.

Fast forward to September 1st, 2020: as if anything else could go wrong in 2020, I had a bad mammogram and then a bad biopsy.

Then the doctor called to tell me I had breast cancer.

I asked every doctor and medical technician the same question, "Why did I get cancer?" But, unfortunately, none of my doctors had answers for me.

I just kept asking questions, reading research, and figuring out how not to get cancer again. I began to realize that there might have been a few other things I could have done to prevent cancer. I knew I couldn't keep this information just for myself and my friends.

This podcast is for anyone who:

  • Wants to prevent cancer
  • Has had cancer and doesn't want it to come back
  • Loves someone who's in the cancer battle

Why Did I Get Cancer includes:

  • Interviews with experts
  • Interviews with other cancer survivors
  • Resources for navigating the murky waters of cancer treatment
  • Discussions on practicing self-care during cancer
  • Techniques and products I used during my cancer treatment
  • And much more!

Why Did I Get Cancer launches mid-September!

106. Easy Work-Arounds to Improve Your Health! Part 227 Feb 202500:30:17

HELP!

Reading labels takes a lot of time, and even with a science degree, I have a hard time figuring out what's good and what's bad.

If I'm struggling, I guess you are as well.

Food companies must convince you that their product is the best item on the supermarket shelves. Their marketing message is on the front, and the truth is on the back.

For example, I picked up a package of high-protein chips at Costco. The front of the package said, "made with the highest quality ingredients." Well, that's great. I flipped the bag over and saw they use canola, sunflower, and safflower oils. These oils are highly inflammatory AND highly processed, NOT GREAT.

I hate to say it, but you'll need to assume that most food companies are not going to tell you the truth.

It reminds me of that movie with Jack Nicholson and Diane Keeton, Something's Gotta Give. In it, he tells her, "I've always told you some version of the truth," and she responds, "The Truth Doesn't Have Versions!"

Unfortunately, there are many versions of the truth in the food world.

If you'd like some quick food hacks, my podcast guest, Keith Bishop, has plenty of them!

Keith is the guest that always shocks me, and he definitely did with today's episode. It's a shorter episode with loads of takeaways.

Toups and Co

Frankincense Skim Balm

Blue Tansy Body Oil

The Nourishing Skin Care Set (this includes skin balm, body oil, tinted lip chap, and a tallow bar—and it's on sale!).

Deodorant - it really works!

105. You Don't Have to be Perfect! Part 120 Feb 202500:43:06

I don't know about you, but I don't like being told what to do.

Lately, online, I feel like the majority of the "wellness influencers" are yelling at me and telling me that most of my daily habits are going to hurt me.

Life is challenging enough!

How about this, can we move a bit slower? Maybe focus on changing a couple of habits or items a week instead of making me feel bad about eating out or buying a drink in an aluminium can.

This is why I loved my conversation with today's guest, Keith Bishop. He's a clinical nutritionist, cancer fighting coach and retired pharmacist.

This guy knows his research. In fact, he often shocks me with his knowledge! What I love about him is that while he tells me the truth about what's potentially harmful in the environment, he also PRESENTS SOLUTIONS of how to mitigate the impact.

I want the truth and easy solutions for a healthier body.

If you're frustrated like me, listen to today's podcast for Keith's simple life hacks to improve your environment, even if you eat out often or are just downright confused by all of the detoxing info out there!

104. The Worm Queen Tells All: Are Worms Or Parasites The Cause Of Your Health Problems? (Re-release)13 Feb 202500:52:31

Today, we're talking about a topic that might make you squirm in your seat—parasites and worms! These creepy crawlies can hitch into our bodies through contaminated water, food, and less-than-sanitary conditions and wreak havoc.

Now, I'll be the first to admit that when my guest Kim Rogers, also known as “The Worm Queen” of TikTok, reached out to me, I hesitated. Who wants to know about the creatures lurking inside us, right? But knowledge is power and if understanding more about parasites and worms could help me stay healthy, it’s time for an uncomfortable conversation.

We talked about the not-so-glamorous aspects of bodily functions—yes, that means we went into the topic of pooping quite a bit. But beyond the initial discomfort, Kim shares some invaluable insights into detox pathways and what she calls the three P's: peeing, perspiration, and, you guessed it, pooping.

So, buckle up, folks. Let’s learn all about these little buggers - and how to protect ourselves from them!

About Dr. Kim Rogers

Kim Rogers AKA “The Worm Queen” journey reads like the tale of a true pioneer in holistic healing. With nearly two decades of experience in the allopathic medical field, Kim honed her skills and expertise, becoming a powerhouse in healthcare management, radiography, and medical specialties. Her academic prowess, including a Bachelor of Science with a focus on Health Services Management & HR, and an Associate of Occupational Studies with a major in Radiography and a minor in Psychology, marked her as a standout achiever.

However, despite her extensive background and immersion in traditional medicine, Kim found herself at a crossroads when her health began to deteriorate despite the conventional approaches she knew so well. Her pivotal moment came with her first experience using Paraguard for a parasite cleanse, an event she openly documented on TikTok. The viral sensation that followed showcased her remarkable results and ignited a global movement of individuals seeking alternatives to the cyclical frustrations of mainstream medicine.

Two years of rigorous research, experimentation, and personal cleansing experiences culminated in the creation of Parafy—a comprehensive protocol designed to offer individuals the most effective, supportive, and successful path to parasite cleansing.

Kim's tireless dedication to uncovering holistic solutions and her unwavering commitment to educating and uplifting others have solidified her status as a trailblazer in the natural health and wellness community.

103. Don't Ignore The Signs! Part 206 Feb 202500:37:56

Have you ever met someone and the hairs on the back of your neck stood up?

Have you ever "felt" like something would happen, and then it did?

I was on a business trip a few years ago, and as I got into my rental car at night in a big city, I felt a voice say, "Lock the door now!"

For a split second, I tried to "reason" with the voice so I could put my handbag down and put on my seatbelt. Well, I quickly locked the door at about the same time some very scary-looking guy was trying to get into my car!

My big takeaway- listen to that still, small voice inside; it will never steer you wrong.

In today's episode with Dr. Sarah Trask, we discuss that still-small voice regarding our health. Is there a reason people get sick that has almost NOTHING to do with how they eat and how much they exercise?

You will be surprised by some of her answers and the simple tips to lower your risk of getting any illness.

I learned a lot from Sarah today and became emotional several times during our conversation.

102. Can the body heal itself? Part 130 Jan 202500:43:55

One thing I never considered during my experience with cancer was the body's ability to heal  itself.

Although I was a holistic nutritionist, my focus was primarily on food. When it came to healing, it was best left to medical professionals. After all, how could the body heal without drugs or medical intervention?

Honestly, if someone had told me to focus on healing my body by getting more sleep, eating organic foods, spending time in nature, managing my stress, and maintaining a spiritual practice, I would have thought, "Sure, that might help me feel better," but would it contribute to my healing?

Today's guest, Dr. Sarah Trask, taught me about homeopathy.

She shared with me that when she was in homeopathy school, she contracted food poisoning during class; she was nauseous and was about to leave the class. The teacher used her food poisoning as a "teachable moment" for the students. Her teacher gave her a homeopathic treatment, and within minutes, she was better.

She was sold on the power of homeopathy.

Sarah's podcast today features some astounding stories of healing. I had so many takeaways, and I hope you do, too!

101. My Key Takeaways from 202423 Jan 202500:23:55

As hard as I try, I still get caught up in "being busy."

What does this mean? I'm asking myself the same question!

It means I want to achieve and accomplish much each day. However, I often do this at the expense of my personal care.

For example, my morning routine is sacred to me. I get up, read my Bible, write in my gratitude journal, get outside, and let's not forget the key component - DRINK MY COFFEE!

In January, I committed to lifting more weights to gain more muscle.

There's a class that's offered at 7 am. I love the class, but now my morning routine is out of whack, and subsequently, the rest of my day is a bit wonky.

I've gone back to prioritizing my morning routine and exercising later in the day (I don't love exercising later, but my morning routine is pivotal for productivity). Here's a link to one of my favorite breathing experts, Dr. James Nestor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6yAY1oZUOA

I have two more surprising takeaways for you.

118. Hack Your Age?22 May 202500:42:57

Let's start with, What the Heck is a Hack?

A hack is a small change or a shortcut designed to improve your life.

Today's guest, Zora Benhamou, is the Queen of Midlife Health Hacks.

She's also someone who, despite living a very active life, ended up with osteoarthritis.

She tried to avoid surgery for as long as possible. How was she able to do that? She used a few health hacks to get as much "life" out of her hips as possible.

She tried PRP, physical therapy, and an anti-inflammatory diet. On the podcast, she discusses a few more hacks that you've got to hear about!

Let's also talk about scars. Zora ended up with two hip replacements, and she tried a few different hacks to lessen her scarring. She used a copper peptide cream on one scar and a different product on the other. The copper peptide scar improved so much that she started using it on both wounds, and she's thrilled with the results!

I just bought this copper peptide cream, Zora suggested using the link below (20% off!)

____ Water Filtration: Boroux

I've been looking for a water filter for two years.

Okay, maybe I'm a little picky...but my research paid off.

I've chosen the Boroux Filter system and am really happy with it.

Are you curious about my criteria?

Here's what I was looking for in a filter:

Removal of heavy metals. The Boroux removes 99.36% of heavy metals.

Pharmaceuticals are removed. Because people don't dispose of drugs properly, the drugs get into our water system. The Boroux removes 99.5% of pharmaceutical contaminants.

Glyphosate removal (glyphosate is the active ingredient in Roundup and is a known carcinogen). A year ago, I was tested for glyphosate and was in the 95th percentile. I was shocked! Since I was already eating mainly organic, my doctor suggested getting a water filter. I had a challenging time finding one that would filter this chemical, and this was one of my main drivers for purchasing this filter.

Boroux has a special offer for my community. Click the link below to research and purchase. https://boroux.sjv.io/7aM1a3

____ Air Dr.

And I'm so happy that all that gunk isn't going into my body ;) Click here to purchase: https://airdoctorpro.com/?oid=17&affid=6165

100. Menopause: Why Sex Hurts and How to Fix It. Part 216 Jan 202500:36:45

Hearing the words, "You have cancer," had to be the biggest shock of my life.

My oncologist advised me to go off of all hormone treatment immediately.

So, within 48 hours, I had a cancer diagnosis, hot flashes, night sweats, brain fog, and painful sex.

I'm a pretty happy and upbeat person, but the combination of this diagnosis, along with all of these other important things, was almost too much.

Today's guest, Dr. Corinne Menn, believes that our treatment of women in menopause can be downright inhumane.

She explained that there are better ways to move women off of hormones during cancer and that there rarely needs to be an immediate change.

We also talked about the importance of having a positive and enjoyable sexual relationship. She was saying that so many of her patients have given up on sex due to pain.

Dr. Menn explained the power of vaginal estrogen and how this one change can result in significant changes.

Listen to the episode to learn how to Make Sex Great Again!

When I began detoxing my life after being diagnosed with cancer, I felt overwhelmed and confused. I thought I was already making good health choices, but the more I researched, the more I discovered that small changes could lead to significant improvements. For instance, switching from tea bags to loose-leaf tea can help prevent additional microplastics from accumulating in my body. These plastic particles can affect my hormones and contribute to inflammation. This was such a simple swap! I was so encouraged that I started to make more simple swaps. Butcher Box

I'm picky about fish. For years, I would only eat fish in restaurants because I had no clue how to prepare it. Then I discovered that when I buy fish at the supermarket, it is DOUBLE FROZEN. What?! Could that be why my fish texture would be a little off? Did you know that ButcherBox only freezes their salmon ONCE? I'm a huge fan of their wild Alaskan sockeye salmon. Right now, you can get a year of salmon for FREE. That's a $422 value, and you get $20 off of your first box. Click here to purchase

99. Menopause: Why Aren't We Doing More to Help Women Feel Better? Part 109 Jan 202500:34:01

Let's talk about menopause.

When I was in my twenties, most of my nutrition clients were in their 50s. I would talk to them about hot flashes, low libido, and weight gain and "what they could do about it," exercise more, eat less, you know, the drill.

I remember a few of my clients laughing at me and saying, "Oh, honey, in thirty years, give us a call and let us know what you think of the advice you're giving us!"

Fast forward to 2020, when I was forced into INSTANT menopause after my breast cancer diagnosis, and oh goodness, I'm mortified by my lack of compassion and understanding of menopause in my twenties.

Today's guest is Dr. Corinne Menn. She's a menopause expert, a world-renowned OB-GYN, and a twenty-four-year breast cancer survivor.

Dr. Menn explained that a recent study discovered that only 7% of ob/gyns were comfortable talking to their patients about menopause.

WHAT?!? Who is supposed to help us?

How about our quality of life, including sleep and weight gain? Not to mention the higher risk of heart disease.

And should we talk about sex? I think we should.

Sex can be incredibly painful during the menopause years.

Dr. Menn is here to help!

Her advice regarding tackling these menopause challenges was invaluable. I loved her tips on weight loss and sleep, and I will say it again: SEX!

And now, I have an Amazon Store listing many of my favorite detox tips!
