Episode 111: Blue Slate

Season 5 · Episode 50

mercredi 25 septembre 2024Duration 58:44

Today I am joined on the podcast by John Harney of Blue Slate!

We'll be chatting about Blue Slate's latest release, 'Beaker' which is to be released tomorrow and marks a new sound and direction with the band's music.

On top of this, I'll be chatting to John about how he initially got into music, the ridiculous story of where the title for 'Beaker' even came from, how punk icons used to piss the general public off, American Hardcore, Henry Rollins and the love for the Brian Jonestown Massacre.

Myself and John have been trying to get this podcast organised for what seems like over a year now so it was fantastic to finally get it recorded and John certainly did not disappoint.

Episode 21 - Throatsugar

Season 2 · Episode 11

vendredi 24 juin 2022Duration 01:29:37

For today’s episode I have Colleen Heavey on, talking about her new electro-pop solo music project Throatsugar, who just released her debut song ‘Ascend’.

Colleen is an extremely talented muscian and you probably know her from her work with her band ‘Brass Phantoms’ and if you’ve ever been to Sabotage, the club night on in Fibbers in Dublin. She also has studied music at every level and currently works as a music educator.

We actually recorded this in her apartment just before she was Djing in Fibbers that night.

‘Ascend’ is available for streaming now, make sure to give Throatsugar a follow as there is plenty more music to come!

A Blank Canvas with Jamie Boyd - Episode 2: You're a Fraud!

Season 2 · Episode 10

vendredi 17 juin 2022Duration 01:39:15

  1. The second video in my series with Jamie Boyd in which I go through various pieces of art from a range of mediums and movements and have Jamie give his first impression's and opinions on them. There was a large emphasis on painting in the last episode, so the majority of the focus in this episode will consist of Sculpture and Installation artwork.

samedi 11 juin 2022Duration 01:26:45

For today's guest I am delighted to have Laois-born musician George Mercer with me, chatting about his band and musical project My Tribe Your Tribe.

We'll be chatting about the project's inception, the music he has been working on, his latest single '100%' and whole host of other topics I don't want to spoil here!

It was really fantastic having him in person for this episode, I really enjoyed it and I hope you will too!

Aplogies in advance on my part for messing up on Grimes' discography...

New Tunes, Hu Dis? - May 2022

Season 2 · Episode 8

jeudi 19 mai 2022Duration 01:25:30

This episode will act as a catch-up to the music that has been released since our last episode!

It was a rare episode in that myself and Zach were able to talk in depth about our two favourite muscial artists, a happy coincedence.

Also towards the end of the episode, myself and Zach will be going through Culture Magazine's Top 22 songs of the 21st Century - A very mixed bag of a list, to say the least.

Episode 19: James Lonergan

Season 2 · Episode 7

mercredi 27 avril 2022Duration 02:12:09

Today I will be chatting with James Lonergan about his new band ahead of their first gig which will be in Sin E on May 7th.

At the time of recording James had yet named the band but I can reveal their name is Mimic and they have just finished recording their debut album which we will be talking in length about, as well as many other topics - many of them somehow always coming back to being about metallica.

We recorded the episode in my bedroom and I’m pretty sure we could’ve chatted all day, I had a fantastic time and I hope you’s enjoy the episode as much as I did!
