Guff and Brian Anderson are back on the podcast as the #WhiteSox stare down their final 22 games. They need to go .500 to avoid another 100 loss season. The duo discuss why that actually is a big deal just a year after setting the MLB record for worst record of all time. The play of Colson Montgomery has set the tone for the entire 2nd half and the rest of the rookie class has proven that they can be relied on now and in the future. Guff gives the impressive stats of the offense in the 2nd half and how they've been one of baseball's best groups. 11-11 won't be easy as they have several playoff teams ahead, but it'd be a big accomplishment.
Guff also insists that Chris Getz and the front office invest in some type of closer to solidify the 9th inning in 2026. They no longer can have a closer by committee and are worst in baseball with just 20 saves this season.

The White Sox have played better since the All-Star Break, sitting at .500 at the time of recording and getting big time production from their rookie class. Colson Montgomery has been the big story with massive production in both HRs & RBI. Because of what we’ve seen since June 1st, Guff & Brian Anderson discuss with the right moves in the offseason, could the timeline be moved up on when they could contend? Guff says they could be a ‘sexy, interesting sleeper’ if they truly spend in the offseason. And what does that look like? Guff gives some names of free agents that could make sense for the Sox to make them closer to .500 or better in the weak AL Central. This was a fun one.

kap joins #Guff to talk about the impact #chasemeidroth and #edgarquero can make on the scuffling #whitesox offense. Guff says that while it’s great that the pair of rookies has forced the issue and been called up, it’s the middle and heart of the order that’s the issue. #andrewvaughn #miguelvargas & #luisrobert have done nothing and all have an average under .200 & an OPS under .500.
Guff gives a full breakdown of the stats and the analytical numbers of just how bad the offense is. While Meidroth & Quero provide a bump, they can’t be solely depended on to change things. And while Vaughn & others need to step up, Guff says there are others at Triple-A Charlotte forcing the issue and that #chrisgetz shouldn’t be afraid to put players on notice.

The #whitesox have lost 8 straight and went 0-6 on their first road trip of the season. They scored just 3 runs in a 3 game sweep by the #clevelandguardians and have scored an AL worst 35 runs for the season. They already look broken on offense. #guff and #briananderson try to answer this question: is the 2025 offense actually worse than the 2024 offense?
Guff says, yes, because the talent is worse…for now. We learned shortly after taping that #chasemeidroth is headed to #chicago which is both, deserved and needed for a Sox offense that can’t get out of its own way. We’re a week into the 2025 #mlb season and the #whitesox have certainly had a different feel than years prior. Yes, they’ve lost 4 of 5 and are just 2-4 on the young season, but hey, in the #alcentral that qualifies for 1st place! The starting pitching has been fantastic and ranks 4th in all of baseball in ERA. Offensively they’ve soon an early ability to hit for power with 9 HRs.

#whitesox legend #scottpodsednik joins #guff on this edition of the podcast. Pods was recently invited to White Sox minor league camp for a week during #springtraining in #glendale. Guff discusses how the invite happened, the importance of giving back to players and why he's happy the Sox finally have leaned on players from the past. Pods discusses the philosophy in camp from the top down and the players that he saw that impressed him most.
Then, the duo walk down memory lane. Guff brings up Podsednik's career with the #milwaukeebrewers and the surprise that followed the 2004 season when he was traded to the White Sox. They go into detail about the special season that was 2005 for not just the White Sox, but for all of Chicago. How the Sox were the first team in the city to win a #worldseries since 1917. #joeygallo was signed to a minor league contract and both say there's real value if he makes the team. Gallo says Venable was a big reason as to why he signed with the Sox. Guff says that could be important if the impact from Venable can be used to lure more impact players as the Sox go through their stages of the rebuild.

SoxFest returned for the 1st time in 5 years to the Ramova Theatre in Bridgeport. #markbuehrle returned to news that a statue would be unveiled in July and it was the highlight of the Friday ceremonies. Most of the #whitesox top prospects were in attendance and #guff caught up with #colsonmontgomery #hagensmith #chasemeidroth & #bradenmontgomery. The group discussed their excitement about the future of the organization and how they’re motivated to change the last narrative of the organization. Guff discusses how they’re able to focus on the work they have to do to get to the big leagues rather than the goal itself. While the dark cloud of 2024 is present, this group discusses why they hope they’re part of the conversation that changes it.

After a season where their young core showed great promise in ‘25, #guff believes it’s time to make a small splash in 2026 and thinks they could compete for a WC spot with the right moves. After a third straight 100-loss season, one things is clear. This time, it at least feels different after a boatload of rookies made their #whitesox debut in 2025. #guff and Brian Anderson graded 8 of the rookies near the season's midway point, and today, are back with final grades for 9 players, 4 pitchers and 5 position players. It's not all A's & B's, but safe to say, there were some very nice surprises.
