Everybody has a singing story. Maybe you sang without a second thought when you were a child. Maybe somebody told you that you couldn’t sing and you believed them. Perhaps there’s a song that can transport you straight back to a person, a place or a moment in your life. Or perhaps singing is something you’ve always wanted to do, but somehow life got in the way. I’m Julie Bale, a dramatic soprano and Vocal Transformation Specialist & Mentor, and for more than 35 years I’ve been fascinated by our voices and the stories we carry about them. In What’s Your Singing Story?, I’ll be talking to people from all sorts of worlds, not just singers, about the songs, memories and experiences that have shaped their relationship with singing. We’ll talk about confidence, identity, performance, memories, the things we were told about our voices and what can happen when we give ourselves permission to sing again.
