Today we're talking capitalism, we're talking patriarchy, we're talking sexual coercion, we're talking financial disparity between friends, we're talking ableism - honestly this episode is real problematic. So much for Chandler's #GlowUp, this episode he's a real sh*t and we're not having it.

Let's explore "The One With Phoebe's Husband", which is the one where we find out Phoebe is married (gasp!) and also the one where we find out everyones little (or big) secrets, and Rachel attempts to stop Ross from having sex with his girlfriend. As we make out way through the episode we discuss immigration, and the misguided ideas around its 'simplicity'. We fan hard over Phoebe's gorgeous outfit, and how there is a sweater that every queer owns at some point - and guess who's wearing it in this episode? And lets take dive in to the concept of 'coming out' and look at how this episode takes it for an interesting twist!
RIP Mr. Heckles!!! In this episode, Monica and Rachel's downstairs neighbor kicks the can, which sends Chandler into an existential crisis as he realizes that maybe he's turning into a sh*tty dude. Join us as we chat about Chandler's character development; evolution and creationism; and THE PATRIARCHY. Let's do this!

In this episode, Monica brings us on a spiritual awakening of sorts as she befriends someone who steals her identity and lives it better than her, bringing up some deep questions such as: what is holding you back from doing what you want to do? While we're at it, let's talk about the idea of 'ethnic names' and this colonial lens is harmful and racist. Furthermore, let's talk about why monkeys are not pets and how zoos are sad places. All with a healthy helping of Quinn annoying Emilie... PENIS!!

08 Nov 2020
01:14:15
While we anxiously await the 2020 Election Results, let's talk about men and the way they treat women like garbage. Okay, a little harsh. This week, we're talking about the way Ross treats Rachel when she accidentally loses his monkey while it's in her care. We talk about how Chandler and Joey need to learn how to be appropriate neighbors to the women who live downstairs and we talk about how everyone (not just the men) need to chill on the massive amounts of fatphobia in this show.

This is the perfect episode to chat about mansplainning, and why a man explaining something isn't inherently mansplaining, and why these guys are not just men explaining things. lets also dive into the gender disparity in male dominated spaces, as well as remind ourselves that Columbus was not that great and didn't actually discover anything. Enjoy!

Do you think the world is a better place becasue of this show? Do you know how much the cast is still making from the show every year? Grab your coffee and hold on tight, once you press play we are non-stop! in this fast paced episode we follow the second part of The One With Two Parts. We watch as Joey gets his heart broken by Ursula and picking apart the nuanced responsibilities that we have when navigating these hard dating-your-best-friends-estranged-sister situations. We watch Rachel drag Monica into insurance fraud and naively dance around in a crime where her bestie would pay all the consequences - inviting some 'cute doctors' over for dinner (I'm not sure why i used quotations - Rachels words or not, we all know George Clooney is cute af). And lastly we will PIVOT! over to some beautiful portrayals of male vulnerability, men emotionally supporting men, as Ross Geller tries to wrap his head around his impending fatherdom. Along the way we'll visit a wikipedia history lesson on black sitcoms in ref to F.R.I.E.N.D.S, an ugly sweater, some paralleling of queer family dynamics and just generally remind ya'll to register to vote... and then also actually go #vote hope you have fun!
*For the record this title is not trying to be click-baity but rather a banner and reminder that we all know people in the US and in this time, as their friends, we need to remind them to vote, and that their vote will affect lives... and that not voting will also affect lives.

With lots of input from this weeks instagram polls we venture into parent-child dynamics and how they change over time; healthy ways of holding the people you love accountable and discuss wether consent can be built into relationships and group dynamics.

06 Sep 2020
01:03:17
In this episode, Paolo 'gropes' Phoebe at her place of work; Ross doesn't want to know what the genitals of his future baby look like (but everyone else is talking about them); and Joey and Chandler replace their broken kitchen table. Good news, we get to talk about Susan and Carol! Bad news: we're starting to see a serious pattern of assault, not respecting boundaries and so much rape culture embedded in this show we love so much! Good thing we're taking the time to unpack it all together <3

23 Aug 2020
01:04:33

01.09 The One Where We Don't Want To Be Implicit in White Supremacy
16 Aug 2020
01:02:13
Ouff, this episode takes us for a spin. It's thanksgiving and joeys not allowed home to celebrate. Monica is left cocking & trying to please all the potato needs of this little chosen family - except for Chandler, who is boycotting the holiday (though not for reasons one would hope for). While searching for words to explain what Joey's modelling experience really insinuates, and being faced with trying to unpack a holiday that has such a horrible history, Quinn and Emilie open up about why they started this podcast and how they're grappling with unpacking white supremacy when black & indigenous people of colour are entirely erased from the show.
resources we touch on in the show:
an 8 min video on how Degrassi helped de-stigmatize HIV and AIDS, comparing it to Rent
In this episode Chandler finds out the world thinks he's gay; the Geller women pass on their patriarchal traumas; and ross falls in a hole and gets high. With lots of juicy material to explore, Emilie shares her own experience with internalized homophobia before coming out. We answer the question: "are gaydars real?" and are shocked at poll results around Rachel's Paolo shoes.

We also lived through Chandler choking on someone else's gum THREE TIMES to bring you this episode so please rate our podcast to show us some support <3
