What Chiropractic Doesn't Cure: Stories of Innate – Details, episodes & analysis

I was chatting with Dr. Julia North at a conference (Dr. Tim Young’s Focus OKC!) when she mentioned this amazing story about a young woman with trisomy 21. I knew I HAD to have her tell you on the podcast. Dr. Julia practices at Schoenherr Chiropractic in St. Peters, Missouri. Not long after Dr. Julia graduated from chiropractic college, she got a new patient who didn’t have a specific symptom that needed treatment. A mother brought Em, her non-verbal daughter with Down Syndrome in for care to just improve her quality of life. They’d had difficulty in the past knowing if she was even in pain for not? Dr. Julia did a thorough evaluation and x-rays and determined she didn’t have contraindications. She began adjusting Em regularly. As time went by, Em gained stability while walking, began to say simple words, make more eye contact and was able to climb on the table to be adjusted by herself. She even was able to enjoy a new level of independence on a family vacation! This story is so important because it highlights that chiropractic increases an individual’s own potential and expression of LIFE. It also illustrates that everyone deserves access to care and quality of life! It’s also cool, because there could be no placebo effect of Em believing this would help her not - a clear nervous system just allowed her to function at a higher level. In this episode of What Chiropractic Doesn’t Cure: Stories of Innate, I speak with Dr. Ryan Rieder. I was blown away when I met him at Focus OKC; he gave the most engaging talk I’ve ever heard at a chiropractic seminar and then as I’ve gotten to know him more, he’s not just a great chiro, clever marketer and businessman, he’s also a really genuine person as well. 

He shares the personal story of his children, both born 8 weeks premature and how chiropractic care helped them to thrive.

We also get into how chiropractors need to ask better questions in order to highlight each little miracle story. In marketing, Dr. Ryan said chiropractors often need to just go back to what has worked before.

Originally from South Africa, Dr. Ryan moved to the UK where he ran a string of successful chiropractic practices. He now resides in the USA and helps Chiropractors all over the world grow their practices with his tried and tested strategies. A 7-year-old was diagnosed with degenerative hip disease and told that she’d never lead a full active life. Her parents didn’t accept that…and took her to a chiropractor!

In this episode of What Chiropractic Doesn’t Cure: Stories of Innate, I talk to the amazing Dr. Megan Afshar Martins. She practices at Upstate Specific Chiropractic in Greenville, SC, and specializes in upper cervical care and working with many families, pregnant women, and kids. She is also a regular speaker for Dynamic Essentials and the ICPA. 

She tells a great story of a woman who had been under chiropractic care since childhood and how it liberated her to live a full life, from powerlifting to hiking!

Dr. Megan also shares how she uses a special patient appreciation day to give back to her community and how she gives back to chiropractic by hosting students and interns.

 Dr. Austin Davis' journey is a testament to the transformative power of chiropractic care. His own recovery from a severe sports-related neck injury, thanks to chiropractic, has ignited a deep passion within him.

In this episode of What Chiropractic Doesn’t Cure: Stories of Innate, Dr. Lise Cloutier shares three stories of radically changed lives.

With years of experience as a subluxation-based chiropractor from Canada, Dr. Lise Cloutier migrated her life and family to Turks and Caicos 🇹🇨 to start a practice there because it was a life calling. The first story she told was about a child who was non-verbal–specialists couldn’t explain why this eleven-year-old couldn’t talk. As Dr Lise discovered, he had significant birth trauma.

Her next story was about a child who had survived radiation on a tumor above the kidney. The resulting scoliosis put the child in a wheelchair for years. But not every chiropractic story is about a changed life on the outside. One of her patients told her that she was mustering strength to leave an abusive relationship.

These three stories will remind you what is possible with a clear nervous system! Dr. Lise is full of passion and knowledge and wisdom when it comes to simply educating the public and chiros about Chiropractic.
