What's this? Two wins in a row! The Wests Tigers have given us all something to smile about with a second consecutive victory.

After a shaky start, Wests Tigers went on to beat the Manly Sea Eagles 34-26 at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday evening.

On this edition of the Wests Tigers podcast, Joel Helmes is joined by the returning pod stalwarts - Steve Stretton and Declan McCutcheon!

Garry Watson is on board too, and the big Wests Tigers victory takes centre stage (naturally).

Some of the key points of discussion include:

  • The performance of exiting young halves, Galvin and Fainu
  • After a few heart-in-throat moments, the Mason game and what he brings
  • Reasons to be optimistic with Luai coming into a side that's starting to click
  • The general happiness that the team seems to have found

There's also a mountain of 'One Word' submissions from the ever-growing Wests Tigers Podcast Forum (thanks to everyone who took the time to leave their submissions).

And the boys give their thoughts on the potential recruitment of veteran, Jack Bird.

It's so good to see the Wests Tigers get a few wins as we head into the off-season and a new dawn.

There has been a switch in normal transmission this week with Joel Helmes taking on the hosting role for the Mid-week edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast. He is joined by Nick and Garry to discuss all the Latest News out of Concord and isn't there a lot of news and rumours this week?

The show starts with a quick discussion surrounding last Friday's game against the Warriors in New Zealand, Garry and Joel give their one words for the game. There is a discussion around the Wests Tigers lack of physicality and the effect that has had on the team for the last few years.

The boys take on all the latest rumours and news surrounding the club including Stefano leaving the club and the tantalising rumour about Brian To'o looking for the exit door at Penrith. Could Luai convince him to make the move to the Wests Tigers for season 2025 and what difference would he make to the side?

Discussion then turns to Shane Richardson's appearance on Behind the Roar and his comments around signing players, roster turnover, needs for season 2025 and the Stadium policy.

The team gives their predictions for tomorrow's game against the Cowboys at Leichhardt Oval.

As always, the episode ends with Yioti's quiz, who will come out on top this week?

Wests Tigers Podcast 026926 Jun 202300:38:25

After a week of reports and rumours, finally we know what is happening with Wests Tigers veteran, Luke Brooks.

It was announced yesterday that the long-serving halfback/five-eight was making the shift across the Spit Bridge to Manly.

Brooks has signed a four-year deal with the Sea Eagles and is taking Wests Tigers teammate Tommy Talau with him.

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes, Eddie Otto, Declan McCutcheon, and Garry Watson all get to have their say on the move by Luke Brooks.

Is it a good day for the Tigers? Is the chance now to move on with someone new better than sticking with a guy that probably just hasn't consistently met his potential at our club? Is it a good move for the player?

And, of course, what does this mean for Wests Tigers halves in 2024 and beyond?

We give our one-word assessment of the Luke Brooks decade at the club and invited members of the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum to also contribute to that as well.

We also discuss the rumoured signing of a young Manly star in return - Latu Fainu, as well as his brother, backrower Samuela Fainu.

There's also a look at whether the Brooks signing might mean Josh Schuster also becomes a free agent, and whether he is someone we should be chasing.

And we touch on the rumours that Benji Marshall is unhappy and apparently isn't too keen on taking over as Wests Tigers coach in 2025.

Fingers crossed the next edition of the pod actually has some signing news that features a player coming our way, in the meantime, please enjoy this big edition.

A special edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast - today we bring you an interview with a key member of Wests Tiger admin, Matthew Betsey.

Matthew is the Head of Pathways at Wests Tigers, a role that sees the former Cricket Australia Coaching and Development Manager overseeing our club's pathways and junior development - taking youngsters and helping them achieve their NRL dreams.

Appointed to the role a little over a year ago, Matthew has been implementing a number of changes in the way the club nurtures and develops young talent.

Interviewed by our own Garry Watson at the Ambush event preceding the match against the Storm on Saturday evening, some of the topics covered in this interview include:

  • What does it mean to be a 'Development Club'?
  • What are some of the main challenges facing the club in this space?
  • How do we compare to other NRL clubs in terms of junior development and pathways?
  • What will the Player Academy/Centre of Excellence in Campbelltown bring?

Don't miss this chat with one of the key people charged with trying to help us improve as a club and as an NRL team!

To get involved in the Ambush, follow the group on Facebook.

Wests Tigers Podcast 026618 Jun 202300:47:29

Another round of NRL has passed by and again the Wests Tigers are on the wrong side of the win/loss sheet.

This time the Tigers ran into a State of Origin-weakened Melbourne team, and despite playing with effort (mostly) the Storm wasn't really ever pushed to the limit by our guys.

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes and Garry Watson take a look back at the positives and negatives of that game.

Some of the key talking points:

Garry also talks about the Ambush event that was held just before Saturday night's game at Campbelltown Stadium.

That event featured a special guest, Wests Tigers Head of Pathways, Matthew Betsey.

Stay tuned for the audio recording of Garry's interview with this very important player in the development of our next-generation stars.

And Garry also has details on another special edition episode of the podcast that will drop later this week.

More heartache, frustration, and just good-old disappointment for Wests Tigers fans, however, we hope this post-match edition of the podcast is enjoyed by you.

Wests Tigers Podcast 026515 Jun 202300:59:37

The Wests Tigers can put last week's frustration and disappointment to the side with a win over the Storm this weekend.

Melbourne, weakened by State of Origin, could be ripe for a loss, that's despite the Storm cleaning up the Sharks last round.

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Eddie Otto and Garry Watson preview that clash with the Storm.

Luke Brooks is again on the agenda, this time with a chat about the Cowboys knocking back any prospect of the Tigers junior heading north.

Is this just a manager trying to up his client's price? Is there a chance Brooks will stay with the Tigers, despite already rejecting our contract offer?

Garry gets to have his say on the appointment of Scott Fulton and the possible dysfunction occurring in the club's senior management.

Listener feedback features too with lots of comments and questions from the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum.

There's also a discussion around a story that broke yesterday afternoon about the potential upgrade of Leichhardt Oval.

Digital images showing a rebuilt main stand, a new Northern stand, and updated terraces have been released by the Inner West Council.

The only thing needed now is funding commitments, about $100 million dollars worth! The boys look at the proposal and discuss whether this is the right thing for the ground and the club.

Eddie and Garry also discuss the potential debut of young hooker, Tallyn Da Silva and the selection of Stefano Utoikamanu in State of Origin.

There's also a preview of the next Ambush event on this weekend ahead of the Melbourne Storm clash at Campbelltown.

And don't miss Yioti's Quiz!

Wests Tigers Podcast 026412 Jun 202301:06:04

The hope Wests Tigers fans started to feel a month back is quickly turning into more frustration and angst.

Last Thursday night on the Gold Coast was a bleak outing for our club, a meek performance and injuries to key spine players made it an experience most of us would be glad to forget.

Then, on that tale end of all that, it appears our administration is again up to their regular hijinks with reports even Tim Sheens might have had enough.

One person that looks set to find the exit is Luke Brooks.

On this edition of the podcast, Eddie Otto is joined by Joel Helmes and Declan McCutcheon to discuss all the latest out of Concord.

Some of the key discussion points on this pod:

  • What went wrong against the Titans?
  • Has that performance changed our opinion of several players?
  • Are we happy that Luke Brooks might be getting out?
  • Would Chad Townsend be a good fit for Wests Tigers?

While we also take a deep dive into the stories around Tim Sheens, Scott Fulton, and the Wests Tigers administration that just looks, again, like anything but a well-oiled machine.

It's a tough time to be a Tiger (again), but we hope you enjoy this edition of the pod. Don't forget you can also have your say right now on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum.

Wests Tigers Podcast 026306 Jun 202301:00:54

The Wests Tigers haven't had to wait too long to make up for last Friday's loss to the Raiders.

It's now just two more sleeps until the side is back in action, this time taking on another team that has had the wood on us in recent years - the Gold Coast Titans.

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Eddie Otto remains in the mid-week hosts chair and is joined by Joel Helmes and Garry Watson.

On the agenda is a final look back at the adjudicating that we were exposed to in last Friday's match. Joel gets to have his say around the controversial decisions made by the Bunker and on-field referee.

While Garry comes up with a very clever system that could curtail some future Bunker clangers, and make the game a more enjoyable experience for fans.

There's a discussion around the report that Luke Brooks is set to re-sign with the Wests Tigers for another two seasons. Eddie, Garry, and Joel look at whether this is a good deal for the club.

There are also reports that the roster clean-out will continue with Shawn Blore, David Nofoaluma, and Jake Simpkin all told they are free to look elsewhere.

The boys try to answer the question - are we better placed heading into 2024 than we were at this stage last year?

There's a preview of the Titans game and a look at the possible debut of young gun, Tallyn Da Silva.

Wests Tigers Podcast 026205 Jun 202300:55:17

What a topsy-turvy night it was at Campbelltown Stadium on Friday night! One minute disappointment, then hope, then the next minute, heartbreak.

The Wests Tigers again went down to Canberra, albeit in circumstances very different to our recent history with the Green Machine.

This time it was close, just one point in it, with a controversial penalty in front of the sticks proving the difference.

But was it the right decision by the ref? There is some difference of opinion amongst the Wests Tigers Podcast boys.

Beyond that frustrating ending to the match, Eddie Otto and Garry Watson discuss the plusses and minuses of the most recent Wests Tigers performance.

They also ask, why is it we never seem to be able to win really tight games, and in particular the really key moments in these clashes.

Eddie and Garry also discuss the push on Luke Brooks in a crucial Raiders try, and try to look for some of the positives out of the game.

Does the better form mean we have only a small handful of positions that need upgrading?

And Buy, Sell, or Hold is back as well with some really interesting topics put up around home grounds, Stefano Utoikamanu for State of Origin, and Tyson Frizell.

Wests Tigers Podcast 026130 May 202301:01:42

After a weekend off, Wests Tigers are back in action this Friday night when they take on the Raiders.

The Campbelltown Stadium clash against the 'Green Machine' comes after a bye and with the team very slowly moving up the ladder.

But can the Tigers keep that momentum? That's just one question Eddie Otto, Garry Watson, and Steve Stretton try to answer.

There's a look at the decision to rest Jarrod Crocker, is that a sign of disrespect by Canberra for the Tigers? And, should that be some extra motivation?

While the boys take a look at the Wests Tigers side named for the clash and ask, should Api Korisau back up just 48 hours after playing Origin for NSW?

Eddie brings back the Wests Tigers Draft on this edition, and something a little different this time - a draft of all the Wests Tigers players coming off contract in the next three years.

While Eddie, Steve and Garry channel their inner school teachers and hand out the mid-term Wests Tigers grades.

And Yioti is putting the guys to the test with his latest Wests Tigers Quiz.

Let's hope for another Wests Tigers win against the Raiders, and in the meantime, don't forget to have your say on everything Wests Tigers on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum.

Wests Tigers Podcast 026025 May 202300:57:09

The Wests Tigers might be having a well-earned rest this weekend, however, there's still plenty to talk about.

We kick off this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast with news that has saddened the rugby league community, the death of Tina Turner.

While not Wests Tigers related, Tina made a big contribution to our game and we look at how she helped change our game so significantly.

Then it's into the Wests Tigers discussion with Joel Helmes and Garry Watson taking a look at the now-confirmed move from Wests Tigers to Parramatta of Joe Ofahengue.

That move brings up some interesting questions that we try to answer, including:

  • Who should replace Joe on the bench for next week's game against Canberra?
  • Does the contract backflip show we are still a bit all over the shop with forward planning?
  • Is Tyson Frizell really the guy we want in return?

This also leads us into a discussion around the importance of stability and consistency in key football positions, something Wests Tigers hasn't had in years.

We take a look at which positions require strengthening for 2024 and beyond and play a new game 'Through the Shredder'.

Another Wests Tigers issue that is on the boil at the moment is the home-ground situation with Wests Tigers confirming we'd be back at Leichhardt Oval and Campbelltown Stadium in 2024.

Joel and Garry take a look at that decision as well as options to make both grounds more up-to-date in the coming years.

There's also plenty of feedback by way of the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum, and thank you to everyone that has signed up and contributes their opinions and thoughts there.

While Yioti has sent in a cracker of a quiz!

We hope you enjoy this big bye weekend version of the Wests Tigers Podcast, we'll be back with another shortly.

Wests Tigers Podcast 034829 Jul 202401:03:41

The Wests Tigers Podcast is back with a slightly delayed post-loss edition!

It was last Friday night when the Wests Tigers last played, another loss was recorded, this time against the Warriors in New Zealand.

On the podcast this time around Eddie Otto is joined by Steve Stretton and Nick Hayes and that Warriors game is put under the spotlight.

Eddie also shares all the 'One Word' submissions from members of the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum

And Eddie asks, why do the Wests Tigers seem to have a lot of players that don't bring a strong physical presence?

There's also discussion around the news that dropped yesterday that Stefano Utoikamanu will leave the Wests Tigers at the end of this season.

The boys discuss the situatuion, including whether Benji Marshall should exclude Stefano from the NRL side for the last games of the season.

The news also means that the Wests Tigers have an even more hefty bag of cash to spend on players from 2025 on. So, who do we buy?

Keep your chin up Wests Tigers fans, it may be another tough time but there's always hope that things are about to turn!

Eddie Otto has jumped into the hosting chair and is joined by Garry Watson and Declan McCutcheon for this edition.

The boys take a look back at the Wests Tigers' performance against the South Sydney Rabbitohs on Saturday afternoon.

The game left a lot of us scratching our heads - was it a good game by the Tigers? Have we completely forgotten how to play attacking football?

And, should we be disappointed that we didn't push the table-topping Bunnies for a win?

Eddie, Garry, and Declan try to make sense of it all.

The Wests Tigers are out to make it two wins in a row when they take on the Dragons in Brisbane this weekend.

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Eddie Otto and Declan McCutcheon take a look at the Magic Round match and dare to have a little optimism.

The boys also look over the biggest Wests Tigers news story of the week - the appointment of Scott Fulton as Head of Recruitment.

As is the case with almost anything Wests Tigers, that appointment came with controversy and a few question marks, including:

  • Should Tim Sheens have known that the appointment was happening?
  • Where does the Fulton hiring leave Sheens in the decision-making hierarchy?
  • Is it a sign Benji Marshall is gaining more control over football operations?
  • Do we really want the CEO, Chairman, and Board to make these types of decisions?
  • What (and who) might Fulton bring to our club?

Declan and Eddie also take another look at the latest player signing rumours, including the prospect that Josh Schuster might be coming across the Spit Bridge, and Shaun Johnson could be here for two years too.

There's a whole host of comments and feedback from the passionate bunch of fans on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum.

And Yioti has fired in a special Magic Round edition of his quiz.

How sweet it is! The Wests Tigers are finally back in the winner's circle after a gutsy performance in the rain on Saturday night.

Taking on the two-time Premiership-winning Panthers, the Tigers found a new level of grit and determination in Bathurst.

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Eddie Otto is joined by Declan McCutcheon and Garry Watson.

The boys take a look at how the Tigers got on top of their more fancied opponents and what the win means not just for the team, but the club as well.

There's discussion around some of the individual performances, including the memorable displays by long-serving Tigers Luke Brooks, Alex Twal, and David Nofoaluma.

Just what was the turning point in the game? Does the win give the Brooks/Wakeham combo more time? And what does the win mean for the rest of the season?

Eddie brings out another round of Buy, Sell, or Hold.

There's also some movement off the field at the Wests Tigers as well with Manly's Recruitment Manager Scott Fulton reportedly coming across to the Tigers immediately.

Eddie, Garry, and Declan take a look at the ramifications around this move, in particular how it might affect the future of the reported Tiger's target, Josh Schuster.

The turnover of hosts matches the turnover of Wests Tigers Players on this week's mid-week edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast. Eddie is joined by Garry and special guest host Jordan to discuss the latest news from the Wests Tigers.

There is no shortage of news this week with the boys taking on the rumours surrounding Stefano Utoikamanu's ongoing contract negotiations, the will he won't he negotiations surely must end soon and the team give their thoughts on the situation.

John Bateman is also rumoured to be leaving the club for the remainder of the season, only to return for the start of next season so this provides plenty of discussion points to digest.

The Wests Tigers take on the Warriors in New Zealand on Friday night so there is a preview of this important game if the Tigers are to avoid the Wooden Spoon for a 3rd straight year.

Yioti's quiz closes out the show as the boys attempt to pass the trivia test.

This is a special edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, and one we're really proud to bring you.

Our friends at The Ambush, including our own Steve Stretton and Garry Watson, held a Fan Forum event on Sunday.

Conducted at The Beer Shed in Leumeah ahead of Sunday's match against the Sea Eagles at Campbelltown, the event gave Wests Tigers fans a rare opportunity to have their say.

And it wasn't just a talk fest, all the feedback and comments are being provided to Wests Tigers management, and responses to these topics are expected.

Some of the topics on the agenda include the governance and operations of the club, as well as the football side of things.

Opinions included:

  • The club isn't connecting with the community
  • The club has poor attention to detail
  • The merger should be broken up
  • We have too many home grounds
  • There is a lack of opportunity for fans/members to have a voice
  • There is too much self-preservation in management
  • The club has poor communication channels/procedures
  • There is a poor culture within the football department

We hope you enjoy this very honest and sometimes raw look into the organizations from the people that matter most the fans.

Wests Tigers Podcast 025023 Apr 202300:48:38

That's twelve straight NRL losses for the Wests Tigers, but are things slowly starting to improve?

The Wests Tigers lost to Manly 22-16 at Campbelltown yesterday afternoon, but the team didn't lose too many fans, it was a spirited performance.

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, our milestone 250th edition, Joel, Garry, Declan, and Eddie look at where the Tigers again went wrong.

There's a discussion about the halves and the coaching structure too.

We also discuss the opinion that generally speaking, we aren't actually that far off the standard of the other NRL teams and we're just lacking in a couple of key areas.

We take a look at the debut of fullback Jahream Bula.

And Garry gives us a look at how the Ambush event in Leumeah went yesterday.

That was an important gathering as it was a fan forum that was conducted to give the club direct feedback from our fellow Wests Tigers fans.

We'll also be releasing a recording of that Ambush event this week as a podcast.

It would be great to be able to bring you a post-victory edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, we hope that's not too far off!

In the meantime, please enjoy the show, and don't forget to join us for discussion on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum.

Wests Tigers Podcast 024921 Apr 202300:38:08

It's a special Friday evening edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast with the clock now ticking to Sunday's game.

Ahead of that match against the Manly Sea Eagles at Campbelltown Stadium, Joel Helmes and Garry Watson have joined up to talk the latest from 'Tiger Town'.

On the agenda of this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast is a number of hot topics, including the announcement that there would be a change to the Wests Tigers Board.

Simon Cook is out, in his place comes the former first-grade fullback, John Dorahy. Joel and Garry discuss the move and ask whether this appointment is enough to take the heat off the upper management of the club.

There's also a preview of a very special Ambush event this Sunday in Campbelltown with Wests Tigers fans getting a rare chance to have their say on the future of our club.

We talk about Tommy Talau and his increasingly likely shift to Manly, either this year or next.

There's discussion about Daine Laurie and his move to five-eight in NSW Cup. Does this spell the end of his time as a fullback at the Tigers?

Naturally, debutant fullback, and now Top 30 Wests Tiger, Jahream Bula is also spoken about.

And we take a look at the game against the Sea Eagles, where it might be won or lost for the good guys.

We hope you enjoy this big end-of-the-week edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast!

Wests Tigers Podcast 024816 Apr 202301:05:56

We're going back to our roots with just Joel and Eddie on deck for this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast.

The Wests Tigers didn't play this weekend, we got two very much-needed points by way of a bye, but there's still plenty to discuss.

First up, the rumours that Tommy Talau could be taking up an offer with Manly, potentially as soon as this week.

Is this a good move for the club? Are we being taken advantage of? Is Tommy being disloyal? And, is it a sign we might be looking for a player or two to our roster in the coming weeks?

There are also reports Brandon Wakeham has won the race to replace Adam Doueihi in the halves, we discuss that.

Lewis Dodd is a young Super League halfback currently playing for St.Helens, he apparently wants to come to Australia and play in the NRL, but, if his boss has anything to say about it, it won't be with the Wests Tigers.

The CEO of St.Helens, Mike Rush, apparently told Dodd to target a better club than our Tigers. We take a look at this issue on this edition.

Buy, Swap, or Hold is also back, this time with Joel asking Eddie the questions, and Eddie turns the tables delivering a term one report card on the Wests Tigers.

And the boys take a look at some of your feedback via the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum.

Wests Tigers Podcast 024710 Apr 202301:01:40

The Wests Tigers went close, but once again it was a loss for the black, gold, and white against the Eels.

The round six match at Accor Stadium was a dark day for the club with five-eight Adam Doueihi suffering another ACL injury.

Centre, Brent Naden, also suffered a serious injury, breaking his collarbone while scoring a try in the 28-22 loss.

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes, Eddie Otto, Garry Watson, and Declan McCutcheon dissect the Doueihi injury, and look at the latest loss to Parramatta.

  • Were there any positives?
  • How about Charlie Staines at fullback?
  • Is Staines a long-term fullback option?
  • Junior Tupou on the wing?
  • How did the forward pack go?

There's also a look at the options the club might have to fill the now vacant five-eight and centre positions.

We invited the thoughts from a member of the Wests Tigers Forum who sent in a from-the-heart opinion piece that sparks further debate around the management of the club.

Don't forget, you can always have your say on the Wests Tigers on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum.

Another loss, but we hope you enjoy this latest edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast.

Wests Tigers Podcast 024605 Apr 202300:58:04

The dogs bark, but the caravan goes on. It's been one of the most difficult weeks in Wests Tigers' history.

After enduring a flogging from the Broncos, Wests Tigers fans were then exposed to a CEO being roundly criticized for kicking a ball around Suncorp Stadium and then being on his phone in the dressing sheds at half-time.

And, to add insult to injury, one of our star players was liking video clips of Bronco tries.

Now, Wests Tigers have managed to do it again - using a stock photo image of American soldiers on an ANZAC jersey.

But, it might be worse than that. Wests Tigers admin might have also been a bit loose with the truth over the Australian Defence Force giving the design the thumbs up.

This club is hard work!

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Eddie Otto is in the host's chair and is joined by Garry Watson and Declan McCutcheon.

There's a look at the jersey fiasco. Is it again a sign that Wests Tigers consistently exhibit poor attention to detail? Should there be a sacking over this?

After a week from hell, can Justin Pascoe survive as CEO? Should the board be asking questions? Do changes need to happen at the very top of the Wests Tigers hierarchy?

Wests Tigers fans are, quite rightly, getting upset...there's now even talk of a supporter protest at this Monday's game against the Eels

The boys discuss whether a supporter protest will illicit change, or will it only further damage the club's reputation.

Eddie has the latest round of Buy, Sell, or Hold and Yioti has sent in a quiz that caters to the youngest member of the team, Declan.

We're in the midst of a storm, but we still hope you enjoy this big mid-week edition of the most listened-to Wests Tigers Podcast!

Wests Tigers Podcast 024502 Apr 202301:14:04

Regular listeners of the Wests Tigers Podcast will know that we always try to be optimistic and look for the positives.

We're sorry, but right now there really isn't anything to be positive about when it comes to the Wests Tigers organisation.

This edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast is open, honest, and a little raw as well.

Joel Helmes, Steve Stretton, Garry Watson, and Eddie Otto take a look at the club's tenth straight NRL loss, our fifth straight loss for 2023.

Again, though without too much enthusiasm, Brooks and Doueihi are on the agenda.

Then they get into the bigger picture issues such as the performance of CEO, Justin Pascoe. The Tigers boss is again in the spotlight, this time for incidents before and during the Broncos game.

Should Daine Laurie be sacked? We give our opinion on the future of the fullback after he was caught liking video clips of Broncos' tries scored against his club.

The incident is the latest in a line of poor judgment moments for Laurie.

It's dark days for the Wests Tigers, we hope you enjoy this rather frank discussion on the current plight of our much-loved club.

Wests Tigers Podcast 024429 Mar 202301:06:44

The Wests Tigers might be on the verge of bringing Mitchell Pearce to the club in an effort to get our season on track.

Currently playing for Catalans in the Super League, Pearce is in the twilight of his career, but could he still add something?

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Eddie Otto, Garry Watson, and Declan McCutcheon take a look at the plusses and minuses of bringing the son of our inaugural coach to the club.

Naturally, a Mitchell Pearce signing would throw out many more questions about the future of Luke Brooks, the boys take a look at that issue as well.

There's also discussion around the potential of bringing George Williams in, though he still has a contract in the UK for another 18 months.

Eddie raises some concerns about the five-year coaching plan and asks, what happens if things don't improve?

Will David Nofoaluma be able to bounce back from being dropped, and then injured in the NSW Cup?

There's a preview of Saturday night's big clash with the top-of-the-table Broncos in Brisbane, including a look at the Wests Tigers line-up changes and the bench selections.

Wests Tigers Podcast 024326 Mar 202301:00:59

The Wests Tigers traveled south last Friday evening to meet the Storm in Melbourne.

Once again, Wests Tigers didn't come away with the two points - a loss that now means we're on our worst-ever losing streak of nine.

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes is joined by Garry Watson, Steve Stretton, and Declan McCutcheon for a review of the Tiger's performance.

Was there anything to be positive about? What has the latest loss told us about weaknesses in the roster and the game plan?

And, the question on every Wests Tigers fans' lips - what to do with the out-of-form Luke Brooks?

Are we getting enough creativity at Lock from Fonua Pole?

There's also discussion around position 30 in the Wests Tigers roster. There is a free spot now that Ken Maumalo has moved on to the Gold Coast Titans.

Should we be looking for a halfback or is getting rookie fullback Jahream Bula into the first-grade squad the best move?

There's plenty to discuss on another mammoth edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast. Don't forget to have your say on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum!

Wests Tigers Podcast 024222 Mar 202301:13:04

The Wests Tigers are back in action tomorrow evening at 6 pm with a clash against the Storm in Melbourne.

Coming off another loss, albeit with some possible bright shoots, this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast takes a look at our chances against the injury/suspension-ravaged Melbourne side.

Eddie Otto is in the host seat and is joined by Steve Stretton and Garry Watson for a look at the significant line-up changes made by coach Tim Sheens this week.

  • Will the changes work?
  • Will our attack look more threatening?
  • What does Brandan Wakeham bring?
  • How will Adam Doueihi go at fullback?
  • And what will things look like with a new-look back row?

Other topics on the agenda include the future of Luke Brooks and the rumours of impending changes at the top at Wests Tigers.

Well, it's happened again! Wests Tigers are now on our equal worst-ever losing streak.

But, were there some little rays of sunshine poking through on a stinking hot day at Belmore?

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes and Garry Watson take a look at the 26-22 loss to the Bulldogs.

Some of the main talking points include:

What's going on with Nofa? The controversial call by Tim Sheens to bring David Nofoaluma off the field. Does this signify a bigger issue with the veteran winger?

John Bateman. Have we found a new fan favourite with his unorthodox style and in-your-face attitude on the field? Where does he play next week, lock or second-row?

The halves. Is the Luke Brooks and Adam Doueihi experiment finally over? And, if so, where does Doueihi play (assuming he's the one that gets moved)?

Plus all the other major talking points from a mostly quite dire outing against the Bulldogs.

The latest mid-week edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast is warmed up and ready to go!

A condensed line-up this time with Eddie Otto and Steve Stretton onboard to take a look at the latest from Concord.

First up, the boys debate whether all the negative media coverage and criticism that the club has received this week is really warranted.

There's no doubt the Wests Tigers have come out to play expansive football in the first two rounds of the 2023 NRL season. They look at whether this style might end up working as combinations build up.

Steve and Eddie go looking for some optimism too - asking whether there are any reasons to be optimistic about the rest of the season for the Wests Tigers.

Then the attention turns to this weekend's clash against the Bulldogs at Belmore.

There have been a number of changes made to the team and the boys discuss the potential positives and negatives of each, including:

Wests Tigers Podcast 023913 Mar 202300:47:26

Oh no! We're still a pretty ordinary NRL team! The Wests Tigers continued to frustrate fans at Leichhardt Oval yesterday.

Our second consecutive match at home and another disappointing performance with the Knights pushing a mountain of setbacks aside to finish 14-12 winners.

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes is joined by Eddie Otto and Garry Watson.

We try to answer some of the really obvious questions - What went wrong? And why is it Wests Tigers just don't seem to be improving as a football team?

We put the halves under the microscope - Laurie, Doueihi, Brooks, and Korisau, and ask - Why aren't they gelling?

Will Tim Sheens make changes for round 3?

If things don't improve, where to from there?

And why does it seem good players tend to forget how to play when they get here?

It's continuing to be a tough time to be a Tiger, we hope things turn around soon!

Wests Tigers Podcast 023808 Mar 202301:03:39

The Wests Tigers are back in action again this Sunday at Leichhardt Oval, this time the opponents are the Knights.

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Eddie Otto is joined by Garry Watson and Declan McCutcheon for a wide-ranging chat about everything Wests Tigers.

There's some forensic examination over the status of two key off-season signings - Api Korisau and John Bateman.

Was it a mistake to run Api off the bench against the Titans? Are there real concerns about his calf injury?

And, re our British backrower. Is he acclimatizing? Or is there an actual injury that's keeping him out of the action?

The boys also tackle a question we hoped wouldn't be on the agenda - are we willing to tolerate a slow start to the season due to Tim Sheens taking a gently, gently approach?

What will the media noise be like around our coaching structure if this year turns into something similar to 2022?

The attention of the boys also turns to the clash against the Newcastle Knights, in particular, the importance of the battle between the halfbacks - Luke Brooks and Jackson Hastings.

There are also some tough questions asked about the long-term future of David Nofoaluma and Daine Laurie

And Yioti gets Garry and Declan thinking with his latest quiz.

It's a big edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, enjoy!

The Wests Tigers season is now officially underway and The Ambush is up and running again too!

The first free Wests Tigers fan event for 2023 was held yesterday at the Leichhardt Bowling Club and a healthy crowd of our fellow fans turned up.

Also in attendance was a special guest - the CEO of Wests Tigers, Justin Pascoe.

This edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast is a replay of the interview carried out by our own Garry Watson at The Ambush event.

Some of the key talking points from the interview include:

  • The latest on the Wests Tigers stadium strategy
  • Why Tim, Benji, and Robbie were the right people to take the reins
  • Mistakes the club has made in the past

If you would like to keep up to date with The Ambush, follow the guys on Facebook and feel free to come along to that next event on April 1st at Wests Ashfield.

Wests Tigers Podcast 023605 Mar 202300:22:43

The Wests Tigers weren't able to start a new chapter with a win at Leichhardt Oval this evening.

Playing the Gold Coast Titans, the Wests Tigers trailed 12-2 at halftime and went on to lose the game 22-10 in front of a strong home crowd.

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes catches up with Garry Watson and Declan McCutcheon for their thoughts after attending the match.

Some of the talking points include some of the sometimes quite rudimentary mistakes made by the team tonight.

Was it the right move to start the match with Wests Tigers skipper, Api Korisau, on the bench.

And what did we make of the Wests Tigers halves?

As difficult and disappointing as the night was, there were some positives, including the performance of David Klemmer up front and some individual performances in the NSW Cup win.

Despite the frustrating result, we hope you enjoy this post-match edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast and don't forget to have your say on the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum.

Wests Tigers Podcast 023501 Mar 202300:56:30

There are now just three sleeps to the Wests Tigers Round One clash against the Titans at Leichhardt Oval.

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Eddie Otto takes the reins and is joined by Declan McCutcheon and Garry Watson.

On the agenda, is a short discussion on Mitch Moses, but a more comprehensive chat about other recruitment options now that it seems we have missed out on signing the former Tiger, now Eel.

Also, with this game being Tim Sheens' 250th game in charge at the Wests Tigers, the boys look at his return as coach and what he will bring to the way the team plays.

Then the attention turns to this important match-up against the Gold Coast.

What should we be looking forward to seeing? What are the things that worry us about the home side? And why is it we have traditionally struggled against the Titans, especially in Sydney?

And, something different, what should Tim Sheens' final message to the team be ahead of kick-off on Sunday evening?

There are all the round-one tips as well, and Garry and Declan go head-to-head in Yioti's Quiz!

With the Wests Tigers season starting in just days, Joel Helmes is in the host seat and is joined by Steve Stretton, Declan McCutcheon, and Garry Watson.

First up, one word to describe the arrival into Australia of our new international backrower, John Bateman.

There's a look at the side we expect Tim Sheens to name for the round one clash with the Gold Coast Titans at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday evening.

We discuss whether trial form will be taken into account when the Head Coach sits down to pick the side and if guys like Asu Kepaoa and Charlie Staines have done enough to win a spot in the NRL side.

Just when you thought it was over, Mitchell Moses still appears a chance of leaving Parramatta and signing with the Wests Tigers.

We take a look at the latest developments in the long-running saga.

There's also a look at the Danny Weidler article around the latest round of infighting at Wests Tigers

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Eddie Otto is joined by Declan McCutcheon and Garry Watson for a look into the future.

The boys make some fearless Wests Tigers predictions, including:

  • Wests Tigers Rookie of the Year
  • Wests Tigers Top Tryscorer
  • Best Wests Tigers recruit in 2023

Naturally, there's a brief discussion in regard to Mitchell Moses and his likely decision to re-sign with the Eels.

How good is it to be in the winner's circle! The Wests Tigers proved much too strong for the Raiders today at Belmore.

Under sunny skies, Wests Tigers ran out 36-4 winners over Canberra in our final trial match of 2023.

Joel Helmes, Declan McCutcheon and Garry Watson were on-hand to witness the seven tries to one win and convened under a tree just outside of Belmore to record this post-match edition of the pod.

Some of the key talking points to come out of the match include:

And who might get that utility spot on the bench in round one when we take on the Titans at Leichhardt Oval.

Before all that though, here's the guy's thoughts on this afternoon's very impressive Tigers's performance:

Another loss for the Wests Tigers on the weekend, but is this side slowly starting to turn the corner?

Yes, we conceded 42 points and made some pretty big and costly blunders, but the Wests Tigers' young guns showed what they are made of with some silky tries.

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes is joined by Garry Watson and Nick Hayes for a full review of the 42-28 loss to the Bunnies in Gosford.

Aside from a healthy array of very diverse 'One Word' submissions from the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum, some of the main talking points included:

  • The impressive performance of Tallyn Da Silva
  • Do we stick with Luke Laulilii in the NRL side, or give him some NSW Cup time?
  • The continued struggle of some of the team's experienced players
  • The use of the bench this year, and this game
  • Are the Wests Tigers on the up?

We mention some of the crazy clickbait Wests Tigers stories doing the rounds.

And, out of left field, Joel brings up a possible external recruitment option for season 2025.

The Wests Tigers NRL squad, or at least a very big chunk of that squad, is finally in action this weekend.

We travel to Belmore Oval to take on the Canberra Raiders in our last trial match of the 2023 off-season.

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes is joined by Garry Watson, Declan McCutcheon, and Steve Stretton to preview that trial.

There's a look at the backs and the forwards, what we want to see in that trial, and who needs to impress to get a shot at that round-one team.

There's also a discussion around the exciting news that Campbelltown Stadium could soon host a more than $16 million dollar Centre of Excellence.

We take a look at the naming of Api Korisau as the 2023 Wests Tigers captain and ask whether his Penrith Grand Final celebrations should have excluded him from the running.

Adam Doueihi looks set to ink another one-year extension to his Wests Tigers contract, we look at what this might mean in regard to the ongoing Mitchell Moses saga.

And there's an update on John Bateman as he struggles to make his way back into Australia.

It's exciting to have the football back and we hope you enjoy this latest edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast!

Ok, it wasn't the result we had hoped for, but how much should we take away from last night's trial match?

This edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast was recorded immediately after a Wests Tigers team filled mostly with youngsters and fringe NRL players suffered a heavy loss to the Warriors.

Eddie Otto jumps into the host's seat and is joined by Garry Watson and Declan McCutcheon for a discussion over the good, the bad, and the ugly from the trial.

Some of the key talking points include the side's defense. Is conceding 48 points a worry at this stage?

Which players took the most from the pre-season opportunity? Which players were disappointing?

There were a few guys in the trial side last night that most likely will be in the Top 17 for our round one clash, including Stefano Utoikamanu and Fonua Pole.

But what about the performances of guys trying to claim a spot, including Tommy Talau, Charlie Staines, Asu Kepaoa, and Justin Matamua?

And what do we want to see when the more NRL standard version of the team takes the field next weekend for the side's second and final 2023 pre-season trial?

There's plenty to discuss out of the Warriors game, we hope you enjoy our analysis.

Are we ready to declare the off-season over? NRL 2023 is just weeks away and the Wests Tigers will be in action this week!

On this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast, Joel Helmes is joined by Garry Watson, and Steve Stretton with a look at the latest Wests Tigers news.

Naturally, there is talk about the future of Mitchell Moses with the Wests Tigers now seemingly being in a strong position to get his signature.

One thing that can't be denied in the drawn-out Moses negotiations has been the way the club has handled the situation.

As compared to high-profile targets we've been linked with in the past, this time around the club hasn't allowed it to play out in the media and the club just doesn't seem to leak like once it did.

There's also a look at the weekend's trials and junior representative matches with all the scores, including our first-hand look at some promising young Tiger players at the Lidcombe Oval trial.

Garry has been out to a Wests Tigers training session and came away more confident on the NRL side's Round One line-up.

And we have details on the first Ambush event of 2023.

With the final countdown on to see our new and improved Wests Tigers side in action, we hope you enjoy this big edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast.
