We are tackling the 2023 Russell-Crowe-as-an-Italian film "The Pope's Exorcist." Special topics for your consideration include: Crappy teens, possessed kids who just aren't Regan (can they even tap dance?!), Italian doctors living and working in Spain, the absolution of all the Catholic Church's sins, an extremely sexy pope, and a reminder that in most international settings, Americans are the worst.

Exorcisms are a mainstay in horror, and horror is a mainstay in us. Check out Episode 90- "Amityville II: The Possession," Episode 155- "The Exorcist," Episode 216- "The Devil Inside Her" in which there is an exorcism of an extremely strong baby, my god what a fantastic film, and Episode 367- "The Last Exorcism." 

In this week's episode, we're pretending that we know our way around the internet with the 2018 creepypasta-inspired film "Slender Man." It's a doozy. Special topics for your consideration include: a reconsidering of Jamiroquai, allowing middle-aged men to write teenage girl characters despite not now nor ever having been one, worrying about Abercrombie Tom's plotline, and the real question...does Slenderman have a weiner? DOES HE?

It turns out that several feature films have been made based on creepypasta but this is our first. We did reference both "Bye Bye Man" and "Empty Man" in this episode, so go listen to those if you'd like-- Episodes 324 and 357 respectively.

Special topics for your consideration include: a ska news minute, high highs and low lows of puppets and animation, sexy (?) outfits of the 1990s, DECAPITRON, and the utter befuddlement that is trying to make sense of a Puppet Master film. Plus: a delight of a voicemail.

Special topics for your consideration include: deep metaphors, what happens when you make a movie in like a month, a shocking lack of knowledge about the US military, weird hands, and a real cause for celebration (next week's episode contains the second cause for celebration reported on June 8, 2023 when we recorded this).

It's a landline! It's a knife! It's the newest entry into the "Scream" franchise! This week, we're discussing 2023's "Scream 6" or "SCREAVI" or whatever it is that they're stylizing. Special topics for your consideration include: having very shallow memories when it comes to the last two installments of this series, stanning our short kings and queens...of law enforcement? and also a quick PSA on where it is and is not acceptable to tag "ACAB," Dermot Mulroney!, and our slow descent into madness.

We have covered all the "Scream" movies! That's either an accomplishment or a reason to seek therapy. They are: the original in Episode 44, "Scre4m" in Episode 228, "Scr3am" in Episode 278, "Scream 5[?]" in Episode 374, and "Scream 2" in Episode 391. Just looking at the order in which we covered these movies makes me very happy.

In this week's episode, we're returning from our hiatus (Pye-atus?) with a bit of a switcheroo: instead of "Sinners" which we will get back to, I promise, we're talking shitty Italian horror and may well continue to do so for the next couple of weeks while our hearts are still so tender. It's the 1989 Michele Soavi vehicle "The Church." In this week's episode, we're tackling a movie that (spoiler alert!) we both love a lot: it's the 2000 Japanese film "Battle Royale." Special topics for your consideration include: butt slashing, trusting adults, the fact that this movie might be a comedy?, fantastic death scenes, and the sad fact of knowing everything we know about other cultures from terrible 80s movies.

Into Japanese horror? We've covered shockingly little of it! We've done "Hausu" in Episode 115 and the remake of "The Ring" (no longer Japanese, I know) way back in Episode 98. Do you have a favorite Japanese film you'd like us to discuss? Let us know!

In this week's episode, we're digging into some post-"Texas Chainsaw Massacre," pre-"Poltergeist" Tobe Hooper in the 1981 slasher "The Funhouse." Special topics of conversation include: some minor societal red flags like teens dating people in their 30s and allowing a stranger to wash your child (?!), utterly amazing 1980s slang that perhaps didn't catch on, the Delaware state fair, terrible last words, and a very fun AMA with some listeners!

We've never discussed "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" because it's a perfect movie and there's not much to be funny about, but we HAVE discussed its raucous sequel "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2" in Episode 56, along with "Poltergeist" in Episode 212. 

Hello EMTs! I'm on vacation this week so instead of writing up a bunch of jokes about the movie, I am just going to say that in addition to your Pittsburgh baseball Pirates currently sitting in first place, Dave Bautista wearing people clothes is my absolute favorite thing to happen in 2023. Come along with us on this journey of the newest film from our boy and yours but mostly yours, M. Night Shyamalan.

We have spent a lot of time with ol' M. Night. You can catch his films in Episode 12- "The Happening," Episode 157- "The Sixth Sense," Episode 169- "The Village," and Episode 363- "Old."

In this week's episode, we're unable to find a decently reliable streaming version of listener-requested film "The Others," so we took the next best Nicole Kidman option: the 2013 psychological thriller "Stoker." It's a movie about vampires... OR IS IT?! Special topics for your consideration include: weird familial relationships,  Allen's concern about finding one's "thing," chasing that disgust dragon, lifeless mannequin eyes, and the fleshing out of our new podcast idea, "Murder Nut."

If you want more Nicole Kidman, please please go back and listen to Episode 76, cleverly titled "???? (1990)" because it is "Days of Thunder" and hoo boy what a perfect film. Right? Of course you agree.

In this week's episode, we're questioning why Ethan Hawke loves being in movies about dead children so much with the 2012 supernatural thriller "Sinister." Special topics for your consideration include: making a whole ass movie about wandering your house in the dark while wearing lounge pants, being a whiner about coffee, being a shit husband and a shittier dad, actors you know from every other conceivable things, and the problem with true crime.

Do you enjoy seeing Ethan Hawke act against dead children? You may enjoy Episode 394- "The Black Phone." Do you enjoy Vincent D'Onofrio doing whatever he wants? Then we'd suggest Episode 133- "The Cell." True crime fan? Apparently we covered "The Town that Dreaded Sundown" in Episode 49, but it's the remake and not even the original. Still, true story!

In this week's episode, we're headed back to the weird and wonderful world of Charles Band with the 1994 film "Shrunken Heads." Special topics for your consideration include: adult teens, a lesson in Haitian history, Meg Foster in the role of a lifetime, inappropriate jauntiness, nepotism babies, and condominiums,

Charles Band is a nutbar and I love him (almost all the time). Here are some movies he's had his hands in: Episode 156- "Gingerdead Man," Episode 164- "Puppet Master," Episode 165- "Puppet Master 2," Episode 171- "Ghoulies," Episode 186- "Tourist Trap," Episode 199- "Terrorvision (the live show!)" and Episode 354- "Dolls," a movie I completely forgot existed until I started this write-up and now I am delighted all over again.

In this week's episode, we're back from our break rested, refreshed, and ready to talk about a brand new movie! We're discussing the 2022 thriller "M3GAN." Special topics for your consideration include: our feelings on the upcoming robot overlord takeover, an allegory for....teenagers?, parenting advice, a throwback to the finest film ever made ("Child's Play 2" of course), and how this film fits into the oft-discussed Wan-iverse. Dudes, it's 420! We're celebrating by hanging with our friend Perry and discussing his pick, the 2018 sci-fi horror film "Annihilation." In the grand tradition of Werewolf Ambulance, though, it was not quite the movie he remembered. This is what they get for not letting me watch "Bong of the Dead," seriously! Special topics for your consideration include: wondering whether this movie is a metaphor for drugs or just sadness, exhaustion as a character choice, dealing with the consequences of not knowing a thing, and of course, weed.

We've done a couple avant garde/arthouse style horror movies in the past. May we suggest Episode 115- "Hausu," Episode 194- "Santa Sangre," or Episode 240- "Mandy"? Also, does everything Lucio Fulci ever made count? If so, boy have we done a lot of those.

In this week's episode, we're discussing the 1987 supernatural (?) educational (??) erotic (???) film "A Chinese Ghost Story." Normally I'd write some jokes here and compare it to other movies we've covered, but frankly the Super Bowl made me get too tore up to do all that. Totally not my fault obviously. You'll like this movie though, it's pretty goddamn fantastic.
