Carrying the Torah close to my heart is the correct location for the Torah.

The Rebbe explains a powerful difference between the Aron and the other keilim of the Mishkan. While the Leviim transported all the holy objects, the Aron had a unique requirement: “upon the shoulder they shall carry it.” The Rambam brings the story of Dovid and Uzah not as history, but as halacha, the Aron itself requires a specific place. Because it contains the Luchos and a Sefer Torah, its place is to be carriedon the shoulders, close to your heart.. Similarly, a Sefer Torah always has a place it belongs: in the Aron Kodesh in shul, and close to one’s heart during travel.

In Chassidus, the Luchos represent a revelation of “Hashem’s face”,  a direct pnimiyus connection created through Torah. This is the deeper meaning of facing the Aron while carrying it: where a person’s focus, identity, and geshmak truly lie. As we come from Shavuos and approach Gimmel Tammuz, the avodah is to keep our “faces” turned toward the Rebbe’s inyanim and the Torah of the Rebbe, making sure our geshmak is in the holy stuff.

Yaakov asked Yosef not to leave him in Mitzrayim, and Yosef promised he wouldn’t. Then Yaakov said, “Swear to me,” and Yosef made a shvua. Why both a promise and a shvua? A promise means “I’ll do it when I can,” but a shvua makes it front and center - something you live with constantly. On a deeper level, a shvua means commitment beyond logic: even if it doesn’t make sense, I’ll still do it. Yosef’s mission was to bring Hashem into the golus and uplift it. He could have reasoned that Yaakov - with all his holiness - should stay in Mitzrayim to help elevate it. But Yaakov said no - “Swear to me you’ll take me out.” Yaakov’s role was to remain above the golus, like the person standing outside a cave holding the rope to lift the one inside. Yosef and Yaakov represent two roles: Yosef transforms the darkness from within; Yaakov stays above and pulls us toward Geulah.

Our takeaway: In our own “golus moments,” be a Yosef - bring Hashem into whatever you’re facing and ask, “What does Hashem want from me here?” But also be a Yaakov - never get comfortable in the darkness. Stay mindful, keep striving, and cry out, “Hashem, lift me up out of this golus!”

Summary: Chelek Chof Hey pg 204: Remember the POINT of it all

Yosef’s dreams weren’t about him, they revealed Hashem’s plan: that each of the brothers have their unique avodah, but Yosef's way would be the one to take us from galus to geulah. Their “jealousy” was spiritual, each striving to serve Hashem in the deepest way. Yaakov anchored them by “shamor es hadavar”, remembering the point of it all: it’s not about me or you, but what Hashem wants done.

Everyone needs Yosef, so too with Chassidus Chabad, its for everyone!

So too, Yud Tes Kislev marks when the Maggid, just before he passed away, said to the Alter Rebbe “this will be a day of our celebration” taking the Baal Shem Tovs & Maggids Chassidus and turning it into a maayan that will impact everyone and bring us from golus to geulah.

This sicha learning is in zchus of a Refuah Sheleima for Levi HaLevi ben Leah!

In this week’s sicha the Rebbe explores why Noach didn’t daven for his generation as Moshe later did. Reb Yehuda explains that this wasn’t Noach’s fault, he simply lived before the Avos, whose merit empowered Moshe’s prayers. Reb Yitzchak, however, argues that even without those merits, Noach still should have prayed for others; somehow, he could have found a way to arouse mercy for his generation. Reb Levik explains that these two views reflect their inner traits: Reb Yehuda’s chessed versus Reb Yitzchak’s gevurah. We know dan l’kaf zechus- judging others favorably - isn’t only for those with a kind nature; it’s a rule for every Jew, no matter their temperament.

The discussion parallels Rashi’s comment on “Noach ish tzadik bedorosav” - was Noach righteous only in his generation or would he have been even greater among true tzadikim? If the Torah prefers positive language, why mention a possible negative? The Rebbe explains that when Torah describes a person, it always uses positive language, but when it teaches a lesson, clarity takes priority - even if it sounds critical. Guidelines must be clear. 

Here the Torah isn’t telling us biographical details about Noach, but giving us guidance: to learn from Noach’s limits, not to imitate them. Noach did the best he could in his generation, but for us the lesson is not to stop at “I did my part.” Like Reb Yitzchak emphasizes, we must never give up on anyone; even when a situation seems hopeless, we can, and must, continue to daven and reach out.

This teaching carries powerful relevance today. Sometimes we feel we’ve tried everything to inspire others or fix a situation, and we tell ourselves it’s out of our hands. But the Rebbe reminds us: don’t stop praying, don’t stop believing, and don’t stop caring. The very act of staying committed brings divine mercy and opens new channels of blessing. Just as Moshe, a man of emes, wanted us to follow in Aharon’s ways of peace, we can “do Noach a favor” by learning from his story and choosing differently - never giving up on a fellow Jew, always believing in the possibility of change, and bringing closer the time when “no Jew will ever be lost again.”

Shabbos Bereishis — setting the tone and brachos for the entire year!

✨Chelek Chof Hey pg 10. Infinite giving.( Parshas Bereishis)

The Rebbe explains the deeper meaning of the “Thursday soul” - a person born on Thursday, whose nature is to perform acts of kindness (gomel chassadim).

Rashi notes that on the fifth day, Hashem created fish and birds, creatures sustained directly by His kindness - they don’t need to toil for food. On that day, Hashem’s infinite chessed shines openly. Fish, in particular, reflect this endless kindness through their immense ability to multiply and receive boundless blessing.

This teaches us about two levels of kindness:

Measured kindness, which every Jew possesses - helping others within limit.

Infinite kindness, where giving flows without boundaries, mirroring Hashem’s own giving.

How can a person reach this higher, infinite level of giving?

Through bittul -self-nullification before Hashem.

As long as we hold on to ego or self-concern, we struggle to give freely. But when we dissolve our sense of separateness and feel that our entire being is an expression of Hashem, we can give endlessly, like Hashem Himself.

This is symbolized by fish, who live completely submerged in water. They’re batel b’metzius - their whole existence is within the “water,” representing Divine awareness. They’re not affected by ayin hara (the evil eye), a symbol of limitation, and instead draw down infinite blessing.

This quality is connected to Yosef HaTzaddik, whose descendants are also protected from ayin hara. Yosef’s name and mission mirror the fish: to increase and spread holiness throughout the world without fear or limit.

The Frierdiker Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak, whose very name echoes Yosef’s essence, embodied this strength: fearlessly spreading the wellsprings of Chassidus to every corner of the earth, unhindered by limitation. The Rebbe continued this mission, sending shluchim to every place in the world to do the same - to share Hashem’s infinite kindness through Torah, mitzvos, and Chassidus.

On a personal level, this means learning to let go - to hand over our struggles and negativity to the Rebbe, release resentment, and open ourselves to our own infinite potential. Through cultivating bittul - setting aside self-focus and connecting deeply to Hashem and the Rebbe - we draw strength from that boundless source.

From this connection flows the power to give without fear or limitation, and to spread light and Chassidus infinitely - like the fish who live completely within their source.
