156. Do You Find It Hard to Listen to the Holy Spirit? | Heather Gaffney
Wednesday, January 21, 2026 • Duration 11:54
Welcome to Episode 156 of the Warrior Words podcast!
For much of my life, I think I just went through the motions in my faith: doing things out of duty, checking the boxes, punching my timecard.
Can anyone relate?
I had this mindset that God needed to hit me over the head with a 2x4 or flash a neon sign to get my attention. I'm sad to say, I got that 2x4 a few times.
Preaching on the Gospel of John, Chapter 1, discussing the first apostles, my priest talked about a simple line in verse 39. A line many people may not pay attention to: "It was about 4 in the afternoon."
Why is that there? In his interpretation, my priest said that it was a significant enough event that they wanted to remember the moment they met the Messiah.
Then he asked us to think about when we first encountered Jesus, really met Him.
I'd have to say, for me, it was when I began to homeschool my kids and teach them the faith.
It's not that I didn't have faith or believe before that. It's that I didn't internalize it. It wasn't personal.
So, no wonder I needed that 2x4.
In this week's episode, I talk about listening to the Holy Spirit. We can't truly hear the Spirit's whispering if we're not paying attention. I share part of my story of hearing the Holy Spirit, paying attention, and eventually listening.

155. The Body of Christ: The Vine and Its Branches | Heather Gaffney
Wednesday, January 14, 2026 • Duration 12:21
Welcome to Episode 155 of the Warrior Words podcast!
To kick off our stories this year, I am starting with one of my own.
Are you familiar with the term: "The Body of Christ?" Jesus said that He was the vine and we are the branches. That speaks to me of a divine connection to form a body.
A body, human or a grapevine, is connected and has many members or parts. And I love this connection between Christ and us.
But I got to experience the design of the Body of Christ in action during the month of December. And, in this case, this body spanned multiple states.
Join me as I share the beauty I experienced at the hands of several members of the Body of Christ.
146. How Do You Begin Again When You Say Words You Regret? | Kylie Hein
Tuesday, December 2, 2025 • Duration 50:21
Welcome to Episode 146 of the Warrior Words podcast!
Have you ever said or done something you later regretted? My guess is that most of you reading this answered, "Yes."
I think we all do it.
Sometimes we are able to fix it - make amends - and sometimes, we can't. At least not the way we might want to fix it.
This week, I speak with a woman who said some harsh words and made a decision for which she had some regret. And before they had a chance to come face-to-face, something awful happened.
Like so many times on this podcast, Kylie took that situation and changed her life. Instead of wallowing in the "why," she started asking, "What now?"
That perspective shift, and her developing faith in God, put her on a path to learn from this situation - to find beauty in her suffering - and to use it to help other women through coaching and spiritual direction.
56. A Daughter's Devastating Diagnosis ~ Cancer Story with Dineen Miller
Tuesday, January 21, 2025 • Duration 53:45
Welcome to Episode 56 of the Warrior Words podcast!
It's hard enough to hear your own devastating diagnosis, but what about when that diagnosis involves your child?
Sure, both involve questions, fears, worries, and extreme emotions, but the way you react to that news may be completely different.
This week, long-time online friend - who I'd love to meet & hug in person someday - Dineen joins me to talk about her daughter's diagnosis and how she walked through this incredible storm.
Welcome to Episode 55 of the Warrior Words podcast!
It may be episode 55 on the podcast, but this is the first episode of a segment called Bits of Biblical Beauty. These are short episodes centering around one concept of beauty.
We're not talking about the hair & makeup aisles at your local big box store. These concepts of beauty come from a biblical perspective. I am not a biblical scholar so these are my interpretations after both research and prayer.

51. Christmas Isn't Always the Same for Trauma Survivors - I See You
Tuesday, December 24, 2024 • Duration 14:19
Welcome to Episode 51 of the Warrior Words podcast!
This episode is my Christmas message, and I share some things that may help, or at least provoke thought, as you navigate this season of profound peace, love, and joy when, perhaps, those are not the feelings you are experiencing.
Know that you are seen and loved. Period.
Whatever you are walking through right now, no matter your situation, I see you. But more importantly, God sees you and is walking beside you. Maybe He's even carrying you through.
I hope you find some comfort in this episode. You are not alone.
