E38 | Redefining Identity Amidst Childlessness: A Journey Towards Acceptance with Marie-Helene Brody04 Dec 202401:03:58
"You have to want it. You have to want to transform. You have to want to reinvent yourself. And that comes with growing pains. It's difficult to do, but if you are able to learn to love life again in this other way, in this other life that you didn't choose, it's a pretty good life." - Marie-Helene Brody In this episode, listeners are invited into an insightful conversation between host Marie-Eve Bédard and Marie Helene Brody, a bilingual speech-language pathologist specializing in young children with language disorders and developmental challenges like autism. Marie-Helene offers a unique perspective on both professional and personal growth. The conversation takes a poignant turn towards Marie-Helene’s five-year struggle with infertility involving several medical interventions (insemination, IVF treatments, egg donation, etc.). This journey was fraught with emotional exhaustion compounded by multiple miscarriages which led her to seek therapy—a crucial step toward healing where she learned self-compassion amidst grief. Her narrative reflects broader themes prevalent among many women who face societal pressures regarding motherhood—pressures demanding acknowledgment alongside internal dialogues promoting kindness towards oneself during such trials. Tune in now to hear more about her story! Marie-Helene's Bio: I am a 49 year-old childless woman who lives in the Greater Montreal Area in Quebec. I am a Speech-Language-Pathologist who works with young children who have language and developmental difficulties in private practice for the last 17 years. I am also married and I have been with my spouse for the last 17 years. We had two cats for many years, one passed away last year, we are left with our 16 year old cat that we adopted when we first got together. We tried having a child for about 10 years (from early 30s to early 40s), tried at home, with IVF, many early miscarriages, operations, egg donation, nothing worked. I went to therapy for two years bc I was lost in my identity and my grief was so intense. I finally found Femme Sans Enfant, a saving life line for me...women who understood from the inside what I was going through. They are my second family. I have also contributed actively to further the cause of childless women and people: I participated in many (7) university studies in the fields of psychology, sociology, anthropology, women studies, fine arts, and poetry, by sharing my experience. I also made a video interview with Catherine Emmanuelle Delisle, the founder of FSE about my experience, which she shared during her many conferences to women and childless people here in Quebec and in France. I also participated a few years ago in a TV program here in Quebec called Rire Sans Tabou on childless and childfree people, two men, two women, by choice and by circumstance. I participate every year in the World Childless Week by writing a text online on different topics, like the importance of our pets in our lives. After MUCH work on myself, I am finally at peace with being childless, when I had thought it was not possible... E37 | Foggy Morning Musings: Known vs. Unknown Discomforts27 Nov 202400:11:46

"There is more freedom in the unknown discomfort than there is in the known discomfort." - Marie-Eve Bédard

This episode dives into how fog, much like snowstorms, can create an introspective space that invites us to embrace both external and internal changes.

Host Marie-Eve begins her narrative by painting a vivid picture of a fog-laden morning in November.

The scene evokes memories of snowy days back home in Montreal, Canada—a place synonymous with chilly winters and cozy indoors.

For many, snow and fog symbolize coldness; for her, they represent warmth and coziness.

It's an invitation to slow down, introspect, and find internal calm amidst external chaos.

Understanding Equanimity: Stories About Life's Waves05 Jun 202400:20:20

"Bad luck brings good luck and good luck brings bad luck. This happens without end and nobody can estimate it." In this episode, I introduce "Summer Heat Celebrations," a unique 24-day event taking place on Telegram where I will share daily thoughts and behind-the-scenes insights during my travels. I contrast storytelling about past experiences with sharing real-time reflections, offering participants an intimate look at how I navigate life. The discussion shifts rapidly to a deeper topic that has been on my mind – equanimity. Equanimity is presented as a misunderstood concept often confused with indifference. Through stories like "The Old Man Who Lost His Horse" and "The Monk in the Boat," listeners are encouraged to view life's events not as personal fortune or misfortune but simply as occurrences that can offer lessons and growth opportunities. By cultivating mindfulness, we learn not to let external circumstances define us or control our reactions. Instead, we can respond thoughtfully and maintain mental balance even amidst challenges. Listeners interested in exploring these themes further are invited to join the "Summer Heat Celebrations" for daily doses of wisdom on living freely without being swayed by life’s metaphorical waves. Interconnected Minds: Scientific and Spiritual Insights from a Neurodiverse Perspective with Dr. Rabia Subhani22 May 202400:47:17

"When your soul finds its home, your heart is going to know." - Dr. Rabia Subhani

In this episode of The ReEnvision Podcast, we dive into a conversation that bridges the gap between science and spirituality with Dr. Rabia Subhani, a neuropsychologist whose journey has led her from the rigors of scientific inquiry to the depths of Sufi mysticism.

Dr. Subhani's narrative is not just about personal transformation; it's an exploration into how embracing our spiritual path can profoundly influence our professional lives. She brings to light her commitment to a neurodivergent affirming paradigm—viewing conditions like autism and ADHD as natural variations in human cognition rather than disorders—and how this perspective shapes her practice.

Our discussion transcends conventional boundaries as we touch on themes central not only to Sufism but universal across cultures: compassion, authenticity, and interconnectedness. Through Dr. Subhani’s lens, we see that these ancient teachings are more relevant now than ever in promoting personal growth and understanding within society.

She talks about the importance of recognizing each individual’s unique contribution without feeling compelled to 'fix' them—an approach that resonates deeply in today’s world where inclusivity is key yet often sidelined by outdated notions of normality.

This enlightening dialogue offers insights for both professionals in mental health fields and anyone seeking alignment between their inner truth and outer work. It reminds us that at our core lies an interwoven tapestry of experiences calling us towards greater fulfillment—not through changing who we are but by embracing it wholly.

Join me on this profound journey with Dr. Subhani—a testament to what becomes possible when one aligns their purpose with their deepest spiritual convictions.

Self-Love, Identity Shifts and Acceptance in the Service of Greater Contribution with Julie Dessureault15 May 202400:54:26

"I would realize that my own clients would not see themselves the way I would see them. So I was like, okay, I need other skills for myself and for my clients. We cannot just hide ourselves and not live to the fullest because everything is not perfect. It doesn't work like that."

- Julie Dessureault

In a world that often feels like it's spinning faster than we can keep up, finding our grounding through personal growth and self-expression is more important than ever.

In this episode, we dive Julie Dessureault's story, an extraordinary photographer whose life journey and work have become synonymous with transformation, empowerment, and authenticity.

Julie is not just a master behind the lens; she is also a beacon of empowerment for women. Her journey through personal struggles with body image has led her to adopt a philosophy centered on internal transformation rather than external approval. This shift has profoundly impacted both her life and those of her clients.

In our discussion, we delved into how vulnerability can be incredibly powerful – something that became evident during an emotional photoshoot we shared.

Julie's experiences with weight loss surgery and embracing her own scars have fueled her work ethic and personal ethos, teaching us all that self-love isn't about chasing perfection but about respecting every part of oneself.

We also touched upon the importance of breaking free from societal expectations, setting healthy boundaries, and committing to introspection. These themes are deeply woven into Julie’s narrative and are reflected in the strength and authenticity now synonymous with her brand. I am truly honored to share her insights here with you.

Of War Jets and Fear: The Power of the Present Moment08 May 202400:16:39

"What I didn't realize was that I was claiming back the space that belonged to the present moment, which also brings me back to my power - in the present, to my connection in the present moment."

- Marie-Eve Bédard

In this reflective episode recorded on-the-go, I take you on an introspective journey from the tranquility of a forest setting. As I navigate through my thoughts and the unexpected early morning disruptions caused by military planes overhead, I explore the themes of fear, change, and presence.

Throughout the episode, I delve into the importance of acknowledging and working through fears stored in our bodies. Living in Europe amidst current events like the Ukraine war has profoundly impacted my sense of safety, highlighting the realization that geographical proximity to conflict zones can bring about a heightened awareness of global issues.

Moreover, I examine how our minds react to both real and imagined threats, blurring lines between past traumas or future anxieties with present reality. I share strategies for reclaiming power through mindfulness practices that anchor us back into the present moment and discuss the physiological response to fear as energy moves throughout our body – understanding masculine reactive energy versus feminine grounding energy.

Additionally, I offer practical advice on how to ground oneself during moments of anxiety or discomfort, extending an invitation for listeners who wish to learn more about managing their emotional responses.

A Season of Remembrance from Palm Sunday to Mother's Day23 Apr 202400:19:24

"I want you to remember that you have always the choice. You have always the agency. You have always that light within that you can really draw and really put to use in saying, I'm going forward. I'm going forward because this is who I am, because this is what I came here to experience, And this is where I show how much of a warrior I am." - Marie-Eve

Welcome to Season 3 of The ReEnvision Podcast!

In this inaugural episode, I dive into a deeply personal and reflective narrative about life, loss, spirituality, and the human experience.

Fourteen years ago marked not only a pivotal moment in my life but also began a recurring season of introspection from Palm Sunday through Mother's Day. In other words, every year in the Spring, I enter an Season of Remembrance.

In this particular episode, I reflect how Easter's shifting dates serve as an annual reminder of the period leading up to my mother’s passing on April 23rd, 2010, due to metastasized breast cancer.

You'll be taken back to 2010 when I returned from working in the Maldives as a scuba diving instructor and biologist to be with my terminally ill mother.

Amidst planning for future endeavors like visiting Paris – a dream my mother and I both shared – we faced, as a family, challenging decisions regarding palliative care and pharmaceutical trials for her.

In one of the most profound conversations with my mother during that time, I shared with her how important it was for me to empower her with choice and agency over continuing or ending treatment based on quality of life rather than mere survival. This poignant discussion highlights themes such as personal power, emotional intelligence, resilience, courage, and unconditional love.

As I vividly recall moments that encapsulate the indomitable spirit within us all; like witnessing my mother joyously singing along to Christina Aguilera’s rendition of the song “Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir?” despite being gravely ill - illustrating that even at our lowest points there remains an inner light ready to shine forth against all odds.

As we continue through Season 3, you can expect more explorations into embracing humanity's essence alongside insights into soul purpose particularly aimed at empowering women with deep-seated truths about themselves.

Join us for this new season of The ReEnvision Podcast where vulnerability meets empowerment.

Childless and Childfree: Women Embracing Unconventional Life Experiences with Catherine-Emmanuelle Delisle28 Feb 202400:52:33
"Our lives are worthy. They are. Even though society tells us we're supposed to be mothers, we need to embrace our difference." - Catherine-Emmanuelle Delisle In this episode, I had the pleasure to engage in an enlightening conversation with Catherine-Emmanuelle Delisle from Femme sans Enfant (Women without Children) who has been making significant strides in supporting women navigating through life without children. The discussion delves into the complexities and societal pressures surrounding motherhood and childlessness, offering insights into personal experiences, healing journeys, and empowerment. An episode filled with love, kindness, compassion and gold nuggets for the soul. She was prescribed anovulants, which triggered her puberty. Within 6 months, she was able to make her new female body her own, while repressing the fact that she would never be able to have biological children. Living to the age of 35 in mourning, she joined an American support group for women like her. When this adventure came to an end, something clicked: she had to share her experience with other women and let their stories be heard. This led to the creation of her blog, femmesansenfant.com, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year! Her existential quest to be seen, heard and recognized gradually metamorphosed into a deep desire to help childless women like her. She became a counseling therapist through ANDC in 2021. She now accompanies, listens to and validates the experiences of childless women around the world, while equipping them to regain the power over their lives. She's touched to say that she now leads a life very different from what she had imagined, but rich in relationships and creativity, in the suburbs of Montreal with her two cats.
Recovery and Healing: Finding the Balance Between Rest and Movement21 Feb 202400:17:19
"What do you need to rest without judging yourself, without saying or thinking this doesn't make any sense, and communicate it with trusted people around you." - Marie-Eve As I observe my dog Nanook’s behavior post-surgery, I felt the call to translate it into broader insights about caring for those who are recovering, healing or grieving. Whether its ourselves or our loved ones. I also talk about how we can often struggle both with identifying what we/they need during times of distress and how we/they communicate these needs effectively. Unifying Our Being: ONE The Membership Opening Call14 Feb 202400:32:41
"When we shift our lens and we shift our perspective that THAT is the truth, then we allow those internal distortions to inform us on how to dismantle the walls within and how to unify our being from within. And this is why I created ONE. ONE, because we are ONE. We are meant to be ONE within ourselves, we are ONE in our human experience, and we are ONE with the environment around us. There's a wholeness." - Marie-Eve In this episode, I decided to share the opening call from ONE The Membership that was launched in February of this year. I talk about transformative experiences with surfing in Mexico and how it parallels life lessons about going with the flow rather than against it. I also reflect on my past as a scuba diving instructor and biologist in the Maldives, emphasizing drift diving's metaphor for energy conservation by moving with currents instead of resisting them. The conversation shifts to personal growth, highlighting the importance of aligning actions with natural inclinations rather than societal expectations. I discuss letting go of my diving certification after years of teaching among other things, embracing simplicity in all aspects of my life, and finding joy and true freedom. I dive into my decision to create a membership community at a time that felt intuitively right – without waiting for external validation or participation. This initiative is rooted in self-trust and inviting others who resonate with my vision. Delving deeper into self-awareness, I encourage listeners to consider their alignment with current life paths. By observing emotional responses without judgment, we can learn more about ourselves and potentially adjust our courses. After a few deep breaths designed to release tension and foster relaxation, I explain how internal narratives shape reality. I cite "Conversations With God" books as influential resources that echo themes discussed during the podcast – particularly around soul purpose and experience shaping identity. Lastly, I touch upon cognitive biases affecting perception versus prediction processes within our brains—emphasizing awareness over automaticity—and call for dismantling internal distortions blocking soul connections. The closing message invites listeners towards unity within themselves for an authentic expression of being—one that embraces love, joy, happiness unimpeded by conditioning or fear-based barriers. Quieting the Critical Voice and Moving in Creative Ways with Diane Jacobowitz24 Jan 202401:14:04
"Movement becomes this incredible outlet to freedom, an outlet to express themselves through their body. That is such a beautiful opportunity for all of us who have human bodies you know. Which means everybody. Everybody can move." - Diane Jacobowitz We all face personal struggles alongside global crises. When we internalize these challenges, they manifest as stress or anxiety within us. However, inner peace is crucial—it acts like ripples on water, extending its calming influence outwardly into our interactions with others. We cannot hope to mend external discord without first addressing the turmoil inside us; thus, nurturing tranquility within should be paramount. This is the conversation I had with my dear friend Diane Jacobowitz. We talked about love, compassion, tapping and movement—among other things that will inspire you to be YOU. Cardiac Coherence

Cardiac coherence is a simple breathing technique designed to harmonize the rhythm of your heart with your breath.

It balances the nervous system and shifts your body into a state of calm focus.

This exercise is especially effective for managing stress and boosting resilience.

The Power of Cardiac Coherence

Your heart and brain are in constant communication, and their rhythm affects your mood, focus, and stress levels.

Cardiac coherence creates harmony in this connection, leading to better emotional and physical health.

What Happens During Cardiac Coherence?

  • Your breathing and heart rate sync up in a smooth rhythm, calming your body.
  • This rhythm promotes a state of physiological coherence, reducing stress and enhancing focus.
  • Over time, it improves heart rate variability (HRV), a key marker of resilience and overall health.

Key Benefits:

  • Immediate stress reduction by lowering cortisol levels.
  • Increased focus, mental clarity, and emotional stability.
  • Long-term improvements in cardiovascular health.
  • Better sleep, digestion, and immune response.

Cardiac Coherence Exercise

Duration: 5 minutes (to start)

Frequency: Any time of the day, especially during moments of stress or before a challenging task.

1. Find a Comfortable Position: Sit or lie down in a quiet place. Relax your shoulders and rest your hands on your lap.

2. Breathe Rhythmically:

  • Inhale slowly through your nose for 5 seconds.
  • Exhale gently through your mouth for 5 seconds.
  • Keep this steady 5-5 rhythm throughout the exercise.

3. Focus on Your Breath:

  • Concentrate on the sensation of air entering and leaving your body.
  • If your mind wanders, bring your attention back to your breathing.

4. Visualize Calm: Imagine your breath as a wave or light, moving gently in and out with each cycle.

Practical Tips for Integrating Cardiac Coherence

1. Daily Practice: Begin with 5 minutes a day, gradually increasing to 10-15 minutes as you get comfortable.

2. Use as a Reset: Whenever you feel overwhelmed, pause for a quick cardiac coherence session to restore calm.

3. Morning Boost: Start your day with cardiac coherence to set a calm, focused tone.

4. Evening Wind-Down: Practice before bed to help your body transition into restful sleep.

5. Combine with Gratitude: While breathing, think of something you're grateful for. This enhances the emotional benefits of the practice.

Daily Practice Example

  • Morning: 5 minutes to energize and focus your mind for the day.
  • Midday: A quick session to counteract stress or fatigue.
  • Evening: 5-10 minutes to relax your mind and body for sleep. Tip: you can shift to the Box breathing (inhale for 5, hold for 5, exhale for 5, hold for 5) to maximize the benefits of this technique to improve your sleep routine and quality.

Takeaway: By practicing cardiac coherence daily, you’re training your body and mind to work in harmony, reducing stress and fostering resilience over time. This simple exercise delivers powerful results that you can carry with you into any situation.

The Relationship Within with Claude Khalil28 Dec 202301:08:33

"The faith that I have is, even if I fall, even if there's no step to step on, I'll be ok. It's even further than the faith that everything will show up. Because even if it doesn't, I'll be ok. This is where I trust in my soul, in myself to get out of anything, to accomplish anything."

- Claude Khalil

As an eternal student of life, I'm deeply invested in both personal development and business growth as well as continually fascinated by the interconnectedness of these realms. In this episode, I have an insightful interaction with one of my mentors that underscored this connection.

Our conversation revolved around self-awareness, inner development and the importance of boundaries – themes that are as relevant to our professional lives as they are to our personal ones.

Understanding one's belief system is crucial when building resonance with others. Moreover, fostering a safe space for dialogue allows for authentic conversation and vulnerability.

This resonated deeply with me because it aligns perfectly with my life philosophy and role as a change catalyst and courage mentor. For true transformation (be it personal or business), we must first connect to our soul before attempting to peel away layers of personality or emotion.

In essence: Personal growth isn't separate from professional success - rather, they're two sides of the same coin.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. How do you see personal development influencing your professional journey?

Boundless Love,

ME

About my special guest: For more than a decade now, Claude has been helping high-achieving women connect to the most extraordinary part of them to impact their world and leave a legacy of collective well-being.

After leaving a career in portfolio management following two burnouts and a depression, she believed that she had finally found the balance she was looking for in her coaching career. Until she realized that she was reliving all over again the same patterns of overload, overwork, and insecurities as in her previous career. She had to go through this path of healing herself first, to finally guide women who overachieve and end up burning themselves.

Today, at the head of the Womenship, she supports powerful women to recognize their unique voice by respecting and connecting to who they authentically are. It is about walking on the path of discovering their TRUE SELF to end the cycle of pressure. They can now enjoy an abundant, harmonious, and aligned life by recognizing their value and their amazing unique talent.

This discussion isn't just about sharing personal anecdotes; it offers valuable perspectives on navigating through challenging times with resilience while staying connected with our inner selves & communities at large. It's about highlighting life’s natural dichotomies – joy/sorrow; light/darkness; creation/destruction – and emphasizing how these contrasts are integral parts of our existence rather than opposing forces to be feared or avoided. E32 | Strong Ones Do It Alone. Smart Ones Do It Together.23 Oct 202400:26:02

"Strong Ones Do It Alone. Smart Ones Do It Together." - Marie-Eve Bédard

One key takeaway from this episode is the distinction between personal power and circumstantial power, how one feeds the growth of the other and how important it is to have them both evolve hand in hand.

While it's vital to harness one's inner strength and capabilities, it is equally important to align external circumstances with one's vision.

This involves curating environments—reflected by those five people you spend most time with—that nurture your aspirations instead of stifling them.

Host Marie-Eve encourages listeners to identify energy leaks caused by unsupportive settings or relationships.

She advocates restructuring these environments through setting boundaries and engaging in necessary conversations that bolster one's path forward.

E31 | Bridging Faith and Science in Environmental Stewardship with Norm Leo16 Oct 202401:06:56

“The stone has no hope of being anything other than stone. But from collaborating, it assembles and becomes a temple.” - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

In an era where climate change is one of the most pressing global issues, the intersection of faith and science has emerged as a beacon for environmental stewardship.

E30 | Please Do Cry: The Healing Power of Tears09 Oct 202400:20:39

"Please do cry. Let your emotions flow like water. Through your tears, you will find clarity, calm, and healing."

- Marie-Eve Bédard

In this heartfelt episode of Walk with ME, host Marie-Eve dives into an often overlooked yet fundamental part of human emotional regulation—crying.

Why are we so quick to tell someone, “Please don’t cry,” when tears are a natural, healing process?

Join Marie-Eve as she defends the power of tears, explaining the types of tears, their physiological benefits, and why emotional tears, in particular, are so critical for our mental and physical well-being.

Learn how releasing emotions through crying can lead to a sense of clarity, relief, and even euphoria, all thanks to the body’s production of stress-relieving hormones like endorphins.

Marie-Eve also sheds light on how we, as children, naturally use tears to communicate needs and how society often conditions us to suppress them as adults.

This episode explores how, instead of saying "please don’t cry," we can create safe spaces for emotional release and embrace crying as an important tool for nervous system regulation.

With personal insights, practical tips on creating conducive environments for emotional release, and the science behind why crying is so powerful, Marie-Eve encourages listeners to reconnect with their tears and see them as a form of self-care and emotional cleansing.
