| Episode 71: You Were Created With Greatness in Mind. It's Time to Own It. | 28 Nov 2022 | 00:26:05 | |
I use that phrase often: "You were created with greatness in mind." In fact, if you listen closely, it's at the end of the introduction for every Visibly Fit podcast I produce. I say it so often because 1) it's true; and 2) repetition is a great teacher - and we humans need to be reminded often that we're meant for far greater than what we believe is possible. I don't mean that in a woo-woo, connect-with-the-universe kind of way. We're constantly bombarded with messages, tapes replaying in our head of how we've failed, how we're going to fail, why we need to just settle for good enough. I couldn't disagree with that sentiment more strongly. It's the opposite of what your heavenly Creator had in mind when He brought you into this world, and it's why we need to tell ourselves that, and embrace it as reality. Why? 'Cuz God don't make no junk! Here's what you'll hear in this episode: -See yourself with the greatness God has in mind...01:00 -Don't settle for good, when you were created to be great...04:00 -Stop listening to man, and listen to what God reveals for your life...07:15 -We get hung up on what we think defines greatness for our life...10:05 -Feelings and emotions are oh so deceptive...16:01 -Your health is your true wealth...21:17 Connect with Wendie! | Episode 63: Hope Darst Opens Up About Overcoming Anxiety and Depression, and Offers Hope for Those Struggling With the Same. | 19 Sep 2022 | 00:53:56
The stats are in, and the message is clear. We're struggling with anxiety and depression. Be it because of social media that gives a compromised sense of "community", or the difficulties brought on by global pandemics, it's a pandemic in its own right. Thankfully we have the Lord in our corner, and a Word to satisfy longings within that Facebook simply can't touch. Our guest today, worship leader and recording artist Hope Darst, shares her own struggles with anxiety and depression, and how she relied on the Scriptures and God's Spirit to find real joy. Make sure you tune in to the very end to hear her talent in song. You will be blessed and if you're out walking while listening to this podcast today, it will cause an extra skip in your step today. Guaranteed. Here's a bit of what you'll hear in today's episode: -Ubiquitous social media has an unhealthy net effect on society...08:12 -We don't know how to "see" people anymore when we're glued to our smartphone...13:21 -Hope's journey thru anxiety, depression, etc...15:44 -Coping mechanisms "save" you for a short time, but the enemy uses them to his advantage...18:49 -Adopting healthy coping mechanisms founded in Scripture...23:14 -Awareness of hormones, emotional cravings, etc and how to cope with them in a healthy manner...31:35 -The best piece of advice Hope has ever received...41:50 -One thing about Hope most people wouldn't know...45:22 Connect with today's guest! Hope Darst is a worship leader who desires to see people encounter the love of Jesus and be restored and set free in His presence. Whether it's crafting songs for artful expression or corporate praise, Hope's goal is the same - to worship God in everything. Her latest single, "If the Lord Builds the House", is just another example of Hope's desire to write songs that capture real life experiences while remaining anchored in God's word. This newest release is a bold declaration with lyrics from Joshua 24:15, "As for me and my house we're gonna serve you Lord / So here's the keys / Come on in / Everything we have is yours". Hope tackles the reality that when we try to build a name for ourselves it usually ends up falling apart, but when we chose to allow God to build our lives, nothing can tear it down. Even if we face hardship or storms, the houses of our hearts and minds will stand firm on Him. While Hope's journey to become a songwriter and recording artist started later than most, Hope feels like she is just getting started and hopes to have the honor of releasing music for a long time. Her newest single, If the Lord Builds the House, was released June 10, 2022. She is currently working on more new music to be released in late 2022 and early 2023. _______________ To learn more and for free resources go to www.wendiepett.com. | Episode 42: Do YOU Resist Resistance? | 01 Mar 2022 | 00:29:09
Do You Resist Resistance? James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Okay - I don't mean resisting temptation. Although, that is very wise. No, I''m talking resistance to the very thing that could help you become a better individual…over and beyond fleeing from the enemy. If you do, don’t worry you’re not alone. Resistance can be uncomfortable and that’s why many people tend to stay in a place of ease and contentment. But, resistance in many areas of life can actually help you grow and become stronger. For instance…mentally, studies prove that when you workout using resistance training one of the most profound effects on the brain is the marked improvement in memory and in cognitive skills. Another bonus to working out over and beyond the physical benefits, don’t you think? But, what about resistance when it comes to taking that next step that might seem difficult at the time (because of the unknown or the unease of it) to get you to your next leveling of living. That could be in your health, relationships, business, finances, or faith. It's time to stop resisting important things, like taking action with your health. Or what about having that difficult conversation with a friend or family member, taking a class that could help you advance in your career, or get financial education to better equip your future. That list goes on, but only you know the area in which you are most resistant. I encourage you to…. GO THERE! It is "there", in which you will grow and become a stronger and better person. Don’t resist resistance – the resistance will serve you well! ______________ To learn more and for free resources go to www.wendiepett.com. | Episode 41: Prevent Performance Injury, Overcome Plantar Fasciitis, and Fascia Stretching to Speed Up Rehabilitation with Barbara Depta | 21 Feb 2022 | 01:04:05
VISIBLY FIT with guest Barbara Depta What's worse than dealing with an injured body? Not much, or so it seems at the time. The good news is that performance injuries can be prevented in most cases. That is, if you fully understand how the body operates, honor its needs and are disciplined in using certain tools and techniques to maximize performance. If you're thinking that a performance coach is just for pro-athletes, think again. Everyone is an athlete on some level or another. My guest today is a real gem. And she knows her stuff. But listen closely, because she's got a cute Polish accent. Barbara Depta is the founder and CEO of Resync LLC and a former performance and structural balance coach to many professional athletes. She helped change the way athletes in the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, PGA, and LPGA Tours recover and perform. Her exceptional skills and knowledge in fascial fitness, nutrition, structural balance, and injury prevention helped her develop Resync products in 2017. Her goal was to create premium products for professional athletes and anyone who wants to take quality ingredients to perform at their best, refuel their bodies, and support every layer of their connective tissue health. Resync products have been clinically tested in the USA, Canada, and UK labs, are taken by top-performing athletes and professional teams, and are certified by the industry gold standard for quality and consistency: NSF Certified For Sport & Banned Substances Control Group (BSCG). As of 2021, Barbara is proud to launch the first vegan multi-functional sparkling beverage on the market. Hers and the company's goal is to provide everyone with different options to stay healthy on the go. Barbara's motto is "An Under Recovered Body Becomes An Injured Body™." A Couple Key Takeaways:•We need to understand, appreciate, and honor the process of being uncomfortable before we become comfortable. •Pain is a servant. It is up to us how we look at pain, it a builder or a disconnector. •If we are fearful, we aren’t living, we are only surviving. •If you cannot forgive yourself, you cannot love yourself, and if you cannot love yourself, why would you look to other sources for love? Shame, fear, whatever is holding you back, if you can revisit that with compassion and joy and thinking of your purpose while doing that, you will meet your goals. •Embrace change. Some people are too scared to embrace the pain of change for a moment even though it can greatly improve their condition and disposition. •Just because we are physically distanced right now, doesn’t mean we have to be emotionally distanced. •Most of our pain and fears come from our unmet expectations and goals. We need to appreciate what we have directly in front of us rather than we think will be in front of us in the future. | Episode 40: A Valentine Episode. Love Is In The Air: How to Get Married in 12 Months or Less with Jackie Dorman | 14 Feb 2022 | 00:40:10
Are you looking for love in all the wrong places? Or have you just given up on love altogether? In today's episode, Jackie Dorman, shares from a Biblical perspective about dating and marriage. We talk about how getting healthy and healed at the heart level, as an individual, will open the door for your true "spirit mate" to show up in your life. A few things we talk about: Nobody is perfect. As time goes on, we make a long list of things that are “non-negotiable” when in reality, they aren’t. Marriage is all God ever wanted. God cares most about our relationships, because he created man and woman for each other. Dating is not for mating. Dating is to get to know yourself, it’s a discovery process of getting to know other people and having fun and learning about the opposite sex and learning about yourself. Spiritual intuition. When you have a broken heart, that gift will get overextended by trauma and will be taken over by suspicion and you will see problems and danger that are not there. It doesn't have to be easy, it just has to be worth it. A lot of times people fantasize about "the one for me" or that the love story God has for us will be easy, which is an idea that is not modeled for us anywhere in scripture. It has to be a yes until it's a no. Give yourself a chance to get to know yourself, to get to this person, don't cut and run at the first sign of danger because you are God-defended. Break down the walls. The only thing building a wall to keep people out will accomplish is to keep the good ones out, there are dysfunctional people who see those walls as a challenge to climb. You are almost inviting a dysfunctional relationship by keeping those walls up. Jackie's Website | Facebook | Twitter **Use Visibly Fit with Wendie Pett in the dropdown menu on Jackie's site**
| Episode 39: Jordan Rubin of The Maker's Diet Shares About Food Being Medicine, Fasting and Best Times to Eat, Born Again Farming and Your Role In It All | 31 Jan 2022 | 00:42:40 | |
VISIBLY FIT with guest JORDAN RUBIN In this episode of Visibly Fit, Wendie Pett sits down with Jordan Rubin, Founder of Ancient Nutrition, one of America’s most recognized and respected natural health experts. He is the New-York Times best-selling author of The Maker’s Diet, 24 additional titles, and his latest release Essential Fasting. At the age of 19, after living an active, completely healthy childhood, Jordan was suddenly diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. He went from being a 185-pound athletic young man to 104 pounds and in a wheelchair. A year later, in the midst of a life or death struggle, Jordan met a man who encouraged him to follow a health plan taken directly out of the pages of the Bible. A plan proven through history and confirmed by science. Jordan committed himself to follow God’s wisdom for health and life, and in just 40 days his health was transformed. Today, Jordan’s mission is to transform the health of this nation and world one life at a time. Key Takeaways: The Maker’s Diet. I met a man who told me if follow a health based on the bible, proven through history and confirmed by science I’d be well. I had tried everything, but not this. I think the faith that I had was married with hope, and that hope allowed me to give it one more shot. Faith comes by hearing the word of God. Without faith it is impossible to please God. Faith without work or actions is dead. We can’t wait until we are healthy or wealthy or married or reach whatever goal we set, we must have faith in the midst of the storm in order to see it in action. Speak life. Instead of focusing on the pain we get every 5 minutes, thank God for the 4 minutes we are free of that pain. Use faith not as a defense, but as an offense. Intermittent fasting. Everyone can benefit from managing their building or eating and their cleansing window. Water fasting has been clinically proven to reduce lots of conditions of the brain and the body. Farming the future. Many experts agree that if we do not change the way we farm, we only have 40-60 years left. Regenerative agriculture is the key to our future. Grow something. Even something as simple as growing an indoor potted plant, learn and understand how to grow something. Compost. 40% of the world’s food is wasted. Give it to a local farm. Instead of letting it be waste, let it add fertility to the soil that desperately needs it. Eat local. Produce gets picked early because if it were picked ripe there wouldn’t be enough time to get it to market. Nobody advertises “truck ripened” produce, but that is most of what we have. The produce gets robbed of essential vitamins and minerals because of how early it gets picked. Buy organic. Buy regenerative. Buy local. Invest in farmland, regenerate something, grow something, you will never regret it. Resources: Ancient Nutrition | Maker’s Diet To learn more and for free resources go to www.wendiepett.com.
