For computer gamers in the 1980s and 90s, few companies were more ever-present than Ocean, a powerhouse in publishing, through their massive ad campaigns and amazing film licenses and coin-op conversions.
Our guest today, Gary Bracey, was the VP of Development at Ocean and oversaw the production of many a classic, such as Batman, Green Beret and Robocop, to say nothing of being their in-house go-to guy for judging film licenses.
Gary tells us about life in the Ocean dungeon, the amazing youngsters that coded the titles and what it took to get them to market.

Randal Kottwitz - Interview -
Sunday, July 17, 2022 • Duration 03:14:27
Before we got all our information from the internet, magazines were the primary way of learning about specialty topics like computing. Randal Kottwitz was part of two major early pillars in this field, SoftSide magazine, as it transitioned from being a pamphlet with Basic programs to a full blown magazine with attached floppy disks and tapes and MacUser magazine, the go-to source for information about Apple's revolutionary 16 bit computer the Macintosh.
We talk about publishing, visions for the future of a digital life in the 80s and so, so much more!
