Date of the race weekend moved for both sustainability as well as to mitigate rain chances Alpine brought upgrades to Japan Logan Sargeant in Albon’s repaired chassis from Melbourne Spare chassis won’t be ready until Miami Daniel Ricciardo’s woes continue → looking into using a different chassis before saying he’s “shit” Also calling the current run of form “a bit weird to comprehend” Vettel unretiring? → Lewis hails Seb as a good option for 2025 when he leaves Merc Seb and Toto have been talking??? Free Practice Logan dipped a wheel onto the grass at the Dunlop Curve and binned the car Remember: still no spare chassis Super Formula driver (and F2 race winner) Ayumu Iwasa made his F1 debut in FP1 Would end up P15 in the session, behind Stroll and Bottas FP2 would largely be washout → only 13 timed laps in the session Qualifying Alpine quali’d P15, P17; OCO, GAS RUS was investigated for a pitlane incident involving PIA → NFA TSU would make Q3 again → knocking out RIC this time TSU P10, RIC P11 Merc’s pace faded as the track heated up P3-P4 RUS, HAM in FP3 would end up P7-P9 HAM, RUS in Q3 Red Bull front-row lockout → PER only 0.07 behind VER Race Day After rain and subsequently cool track temps, race day brought track temps much hotter than expected L1 T3 crash involving ALB and RIC → Lengthy red flag period to repair the barriers RIC appeared to just move up the circuit and into ALB STILL NO SPARE WILLIAMS CHASSIS The start was re-racked and VER sailed off into the distance Mercedes would attempt a one-stop after the restart and run long on hards It didn’t work at all with both cars making an additional stops for hards and then mediums ZHO would retire on L13 with an unspecified issue STR and ALO would pit on L14 to swap softs for mediums It’s here where STR would be investigated for unsafe release into a Haas With 10 to go, SAR locked up into Degner 2 and brought out local yellows RUS would launch a late-race attack on PIA and nab P7 PIA felt like he’d been forced off at the chicane Red Bull 1-2 → VER-PER Sainz would round out the podium TSU would nab the final point

Pre-Race Free Practice Albon has a massive accident in FP1 at Turn 6 → same place he wiped out in 2023 It becomes known that Williams doesn’t have a spare chassis Logan gets to sit out out of the race Albon admitted after the decision that the atmosphere within the team wasn’t good Qualifying Perez received a grid drop for impeding Hulk during Q1 → OTR P3, lined up P6 Tsunoda knocked Lewis out of Q3 → TSU lined up P10, HAM P11 RIC out in Q1 → is McLaren-era Danny Ric back? Race Day Verstappen out on Lap 3 due to a sticking right-rear caliper VER had complaining about the car being loose all race, up to that point Last Verstappen DNF was Australia ‘22 VER’s DNF triggered a rash of early pits All the soft tire starters took hards, BOT’s pit woes continue Lewis DNF on Lap 16, to a PU failure brought by an oiling issue This brings out a VSC → Alonso basically getting a free pit stop Last lap shenanigans from Alonso → copped a +20s penalty for “potentially dangerous driving” Based on telemetry data from previous laps, Alonso was going significantly slower Combination of overspeed and dirty air caused RUS to have a colossal accident Ferrari 1-2! Carlos P1 - Charles P2 → Lando rounds out the podium Haas double points! → HUL P9, MAG P10 Albon P11 → causing a lot of folks to ask what was the point of the chassis swap Albon: “We need these races when you have three [cars] of the top teams retiring. You've got to capitalise on that and unfortunately, we didn't”

12 Hours of Sebring Weekend Special Edition Liveries for the weekend! → Gold liveries on some cars to celebrate Mobil 1’s 50th anniversary (01 Caddy, Pratt Miller Corvettes, and 14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus) For the first time, IMSA live streams their race on YouTube! MX-5 Cup Photo finish in race 2 between Westin Workman and Connor Zilisch Practice Grosjean puts the Lambo GTP in the wall Sean Creech Motorsports antics again Qualifying 99 AO Racing LMP2 on pole after session ends prematurely due to 20 car stopped on track 14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus GTD Pro on pole Winward Racing Mercedes on pole for GTD → pole stripped from them later due to technical infringement, Ferrari 296 GTD took the place instead 31 AXR Cadillac on pole for GTP after messy qualifying session for the GTP class → 6 Porsche Penske binned it in qualifying (not Penske Perfect :( which resulted in the session being shortened to 4 minutes for GTPs Mustangs seemed slow, along with McLaren, and Aston Martin (not really much change from Daytona) Corvette GTDs shuffled to the back of the grid post qualifying due to “unapproved modifications to homologated parts”, making it the second collection of penalties for GTDs Race Good race or no? Chaos at the start → McLaren on McLaren violence, Inception McLaren gets into the Pfaff McLaren due to Risi Ferrari spinning across the track Corvette struggles continue → AWA didn’t stand a chance (DNF around lap 2 due to alternator issue ), Pratt Miller Corvette stalls on track at some point as well Pfaff bad luck also continues throughout the race ( Klaus Bachler gets into them) Several LMP2s run into trouble ( Tower bins it, and 88 LMP2 stops on track) Sean Creech Motorsports antics continue on Derani complains about Bourdais racing him too aggressive ( pot calling the kettle black) RLL BMW with a bizarre strategy call → stayed out longer when they should’ve pitted with everyone else apparently did so in order to have more fuel to get Endurance cup points and to also avoid pit lane chaos Blunder from AXR → fell back in the GTP field after they went to pit lane when it was closed (avoided a penalty by not servicing the car, but had to go back anyways because they were running out of fuel) and struggled during the afternoon hours due to high track temperatures resulting in minimal handling JDC Miller Banana boat car breaks :( Huge shunt for AXR → Derani crashes out at hour 7 after contact with the Ferrari 296 GT and flips into the tire barriers (who was at fault?) Fan tries to jump the fence to help out (it's the thought that counts) Acura GTPs both have smoke coming from them Mustang GTD has the rear diffusers come off causing a FCY (had similar issues with bodywork at Daytona, I think) Porsche Penske 6 car punts 66 Gradient Racing Acura GT → no penalty issued for the 6 (bs call from IMSA), but Fred Makowiecki loses it a few minutes later due to a puncture (can you say karma) Earl Bamber terrorism strikes late in the race Tons of late race FCYs (mostly for debris, IMSA should probably fix this Good battle for position between Deletraz and Bourdais for first Race Winners GTP → 40 WTR w/ Andretti Acura wins GTP and overall (Death, Taxes and Acura) LMP2 → 18 Era Motorsport LMP2 GTD Pro → 14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus GTD → Winward Racing Mercedes
