Editor’s note, this episode sucked because Dr. Kent had a pen for the entire show and clicked it nearly 18,000 times in an hour and a half. He is no longer allowed to have a pen.

Your 24th favorite pair of idiots discuss 6 fictional dogs again in a fan favorite topic’s return. They discuss mostly large breed dogs, and even the euthanasia of an incredibly large, crimson colored dog with capabilities to destroy an entire town accidentally. Who could that be!?

In the season 1 closer, The Idiots bring on their friend Dr. Justin to discuss the hectic world of trauma and emergency medicine. Learn the best way to know when to walk in vs emergency. Every dog owner has one day that is always going to be worse than any others. Any dog owner that has gone through this knows how horrible it is. With this in mind, it's very difficult to make the decision to say goodbye. The Idiots are joined by Dr. Penny, a euthanasia expert, and discuss the ironic piece that the most care and love anyone can do is making the right call to send your furry companion across the Rainbow Bridge. They discuss how to know when the time is right, and put different spins on the topic to let you know that you're absolutely doing the right thing. They still try to keep levity on a topic that is hard to cover.

Today's episode is actually fun. The Idiots talk about a handful of fictional dogs with a realistic lens, and how Kent would care for these dogs as their primary dogtor. You'll also learn a lot of bonus trivia about the characters, the breeds they're based upon, and behind the scenes of the shows they're from.

Did you know that dogs can get STDs!? Well, now you do. You'll hear about exchanges of fluids from body secretions. It's more entertaining than it sounds. The Idiots also discuss spaying and neutering. They didn't give me much to work with for an episode description. Does anyone even really read these? Anyway, bullet points-dogs can get STDs, the disease can jump species, Bob Barker made neutering gender specific to dogs, Kent doesn't like milk but does love cheese, Cory can't make sense of this. The Idiots have their vet tech pal Rachel on to discuss bulldogs. French, English, and otherwise. They discuss the pros and cons of having bulldogs (expect to spend a whole lot of money, just sayin'). They also cover the world of veterinary technician work, the good, bad, and wormy. On the newest episode, The Idiots discuss US presidents fighting zombies and vampires. Yes, this has nothing to do with the topic, but, if you've been listening this long to these guys, you know how terribly quick they get derailed. They do eventually get on task, and discuss declawing cats. They dive into how it is done, if there is a good time to declaw, and alternatives. Also, Dr Kent gets a little deep and introspective, which is rare. Scary even. Enjoy!

As editor of this, I casually listen to the stuff Cory and Dr. Cory or whatever his name is talk about. But seriously, vaccinate your dogs against rabies and Lyme. They're very, very dangerous. The Idiots discuss paying for veterinary medicine in this week’s episode, and why the costs can get to what is perceived as high. Remember, if you don’t pay your bill, you’re not just scum, they know where you live. Doctors often have a huge degree (no pun intended) of debt they come out of vet school with to keep your pet alive and being the best version of themselves. If you are facing hardships, google is your best friend. There are often clinics and resources in the community that can help with low income families with veterinary care. Some food banks actually have pet medicine and food, as well. People care about your dogs and cats and other animals. Please, if you cannot afford the proper care for your pet, wait rather than letting them suffer with mediocre care, and add to your family when you can properly afford them, but should hardships strike, know there are resources that can help, both for you and your pets. Call 211, your local United Way resource, and they may be able to help. And again, google is an amazing resource. The Common Idiot uses it often to find resources for his clients in his regular job.

Episode 20- Mental Health in the Vet World. The Idiots are joined by Idiot Brainwitch Amber, LLMSW (and a whole lot of other letters) who discusses the importance of boundaries, mental health, and staying safe in your own head. The episode goes a little off the walls, as you would imagine with three neurodivergent people. If you are in the veterinary world, this is a must listen. If you are not, this also is a good listen as burnout and secondhand trauma exists in many careers. We also discuss the importance of boundaries and that veterinarians do not owe you anything, even if you sorta kinda knew them in high school over a decade ago. Don’t be cheap, don’t be an ass.

The Idiots discuss holistic medicine (not the pseudoscience “crystals and burning sage” version, but the whole body mentality) with Dr. Tim Combs, whose resume puts most people to shame. He’s certified in basically everything, so he’s the Everything Idiot. Discussions in this episode include lasers, acupuncture, rehabilitation, penis jokes, dog massages, and the metal scene. Oh, and Combs is the founder of an emo metal pet clothing company, Disgust Clothing. Apologies, there was something in the recording that caused interference. The sound editor did the best he could do, but The Idiots only pay him nothing. They say it’s intern work, and builds character. Cheap pricks!

The Idiots talk about their dogs, both here today and living immortalized in their minds, in a rather emotional and heartfelt episode. Brief stories and anecdotes fill an hour and half episode that easily could have been 3 days if The Idiots were allotted the time to give the honor these pets deserve. The Idiots host another vet, Dr Erin, who works exclusively with large animals, especially the edible kind. They discuss the common day for the Large Animal Idiot, emergencies, animal dongs, and why you shouldn’t let your chickens play with other chickens! This one is a little extra NSFW.

The Idiots discuss dog mods, specifically dewclaws, ear cropping, and tail chopping. If you are a AKC aficionado or a 1700s hunter, you may really want to pay attention. Basically, this is it in the episode. If there was one to skip, it's this one. Normal episodes are terrible, but this one is bad even for the Idiot's standards. Cory the Common Idiot does start with a joke, which is fun. It peaks 13 seconds in. 

We've reached the end of season 2, Idiot Army! The Idiots close out the season in a role reversal, with Dr Kent hosting and Cory co-hosting. Cory pitches nontraditional, nonmainstream, and nonscientific medicine to Kent, who shoots them all down. Discussions include antivaxxing, amber beads, and other whack crackadoo stuff. It's a good time. They also do a small mail call, talk about the future, and discuss what NHL players Cory would beat up in a fight.

Second Mini episode, what to do when your pet gets ahold of poison!

Happy Holidays!!!! With the holiday season coming up, we know it is important to have a reminder of what is safe and unsafe for your favorite pooch to eat. Encompassing Thanksgiving, Christmas, and all other feasts from now til the end of the year, it is very common for vet visits to spike after these days due to dogs being exposed to too many different foods. 

In a first, the Idiots are in person together. As they have always attempted to make this show feel like you are sitting around a dining room table having a drink and talking with them, they lean entirely into it. This is an entirely uncut episode, every awkward pause, every grumble from the dogs, background noise, even a couple interruptions from friend of the show and wife of Cory, Amber, the Brainwitch Idiot, to bring delicious macarons. This is as close as hanging with the Idiots as you can get. Plus, you get to avoid smelling Mutie's noxious gas drops.

It goes without saying that our favorite movies we say are right after the last Angela Bassett movie. However many movies she has done, our number 1s start after that last movie of hers. 

Mini...kinda. We screwed up. We discussed our favorite hockey players. We're Idiots, but we're also sports nerds, especially when it comes to hockey. It's long, but sorta entertaining in the way we are usually sorta entertaining. But it's still a mini in the sense it's shorter than MOST of our normal episodes.

New Year, New Mini. Well, a day late. Doing our second wave of minis, and working more fan requests (still such a weird thing to hear), we regale you on the story of when we met. It's really not that fascinating. Just know that Frank Turner is amazing and that Angela Bassett herself made this happen.

We've touched on this before, but it's a good topic for all to be reminded on. The relationship with a client and vet is very important. Be open, be kind, be honest. Don't be a jerk. Don't try to guilt trip. They're doing the best they can for your pets, and you being a monster is going to only make the animal suffer. These vets are humans. Also, as they are humans, do remember there are established boundaries that must be kept. They may love your pet, your pleasant disposition, your behavior, and your business, but they may not necessarily want to be best friends with you. Nothing personal, just, it's their life and sometimes needs to be kept private. 

This mini discusses animals that are poisonous or venemous, and some that are both. Also, they argue over when something goes from being venemous to poisonous, or vice verse. Cory usually works his magic to annoy Kent, but he's in fine form in this one.

This is an absolute rambling, barely coherent, but a peek behind the scenes of how the minis were thrown together. Welcome back! Season 3 is finally here! We should all be excited!

The boys welcome their first quasi-celebrity, Dr. Dean Scott, vet extraordinaire. It addition to being a vet (in both senses, spending 5 years in the US Army Veterinary Corps), he is a multi-genre published author. He is currently working on the third of the "Dragon Vet" Series, with the second, "The Dragon Vet's Apprentice" released in October of 2023. He does not stop at fantasy, though. He has covered just about every genre and style there is. Come sit in on this wonderful afternoon with the equally wonderful Dean.
